S-Off, Superuser installed, still no root access? - HTC EVO 3D

Title says it all, boot loader is S-Off,CWM installed, Superuser installed via CWM, yet root access is denied got most apps. Well, every app except Wifi Tether which works. Superuser won't update due to no root access obviously. Any fixes for this?

[Need help] latest superuser app killed root access

just updated superuser app form the market and it killed my root access. and now when i access any app which requires root its not working. i tried to root the phone again with this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1200167
on cmd it says permission denied.
can anyone tell me how to get the root access back..
same thing happened to me....had to reflash whole rom.
try downloading old update install and overwrite new one.....
Go to Recovery and use Fix Permissions, then it should work again

no fixing permissions did not worked. hav to flash the rom again as my data/wifi is also not working now (wifi gets connected but internet doesnt work)
all this happened due to this ****ty superuser update...
I fixed it yesterday, downloading the SuperOneClick 1.9.5 (NOT the lastest one) and Unrooting, then Rooting again (Choose GingerBreak as root method). Should work fine for you too. There will be two SuperUser apps, but just reboot and then will be only one.
Remember to NOT update SuperUser or at least don't update the binaries, because they have problems.
you can update binary but not the app....
Apparently, the maker of Superuser thinks he compiled the binary for ARMv7 (not on purpose)...
I saw there's a new binary now (3.0.2). I will try it out and see if it works now.
---
Confirmed! It's fine with the latest binary.
In case you haven't seen: http://androidsu.com/2011/10/i-updated-to-3-0-1-binary-and-lost-root-help/
---
After rooting updated the binary OK (giving root permission to the app itself). But after a factory reset, no app can get (or prompt for) root permission.
So, not working...
why you flash rom over again
if you flash this file through recovery you will get your root acces back
Same thing happened with me. I restored the nand
back up .
that helped me.

It happened to me also. I got Root back, but now I'm afraid to update the Superuser app.
Mine is okay.

The guy (ChainsDD) explained on his webpage what's happening. Visit it both if you are simply curious or in need of a fix because you lost root access.
This bug hits me ! I have to restore my nand! Beware! don't know the latest app in the market is fixed, I'm afraid to update now my superuser app.
edit : i read the explanation there. Thanks chainsdd

i had that problem 2 and i uninstalled the last update and now everything is ok !
I had the same issue when I tried to update the binary to 3.0.1. I chose to flash an updated ROM, then update the app and binary, and everything is running fine now. App = 3.0.6; Binary = 3.0.3

odd error message when trying to run rom

When I try to run clockwork mod from rom manager it tells me " an error occurred while attempting to run privaleged commands!" what is this supposed to mean?
I have the super user zip to install on my device I haven't ran a rom in a while though now so I have an older version of revolutionary.
How do I get clockwork mod installed so I can run the zip or is there an easier way to run the zip? When I get to fast boot and try to run recovery it boots to a red ! in a triangle.

Are you S-off?
You may not have full root.
Install Root Checker from the Play Store and see if you have root access.
If you're S-off, have full root, and have root access according to Root Checker...
Make sure your Superuser binaries are up-to-date.
Then install Busybox and smart install Busybox binaries.
See if that works.

Okay, good.
What software version are you on?
To check: Go to settings, about phone, software information, and tell me what the software number is.

If you run the tbolt tool and it says not rooted, then root.
If it lets you go to the main menu then run option 6 in the extras menu

Quite simply, you most likely just need to re-root or root your phone.

[Q] No app root access after HTC unlock.

So I did the HTC unlock after receiving my Asurion claim (1.19 Hboot) a couple months ago. I haven't messed around with it much because I've been busy irl. I installed TWRP, Fresh, and just recently the "deSensed ICS ~ Dialer, Tumblers & Apps! -Updated Mean4.4 & Goodies2.11!" theme. Now I've been thinking I'd really like to just flash CM10 now that it's starting to mature so I installed TB and it wasn't able to gain root access (tried a couple different SU apps). I checked several other apps and none were able to gain root (ES file explorer, Quick Boot, Root Explorer, etc). I originally thought that the issue was the fact I flashed Fresh over the stock rom after just wiping Cache but I just wiped everything (Cache, Dalvik, System, Factory Reset, in that order), flashed a newly downloaded Fresh rom, and downloaded TB and got the same "Root Access: Failed" error. I'm at a loss. I'm running Fresh, I have TWRP installed, but I have no root access. Any help would be appreciated.

try root checker basic from the playstore to confirm you are rooted but it doesn't make sense the you can have twrp and flash fresh without root
Sounds like your Su binaries may have got messed up. Try using only one Su and see if that works. You may need to flag Su in twrp

I had the SU that comes in Fresh installed and it wasn't working so last night I installed a different one from the market, that didn't work either, uninstalled. I tried updating binaries on one (couldn't find the option to do it on the other) and that worked fine but it failed to gain root.
Just now I fixed Permissions via TWRP, deleted the SU that comes with Fresh via TWRP, uninstalled and reinstalled the other SU with the same results.
Try going into su and check grant permissions automatically and make sure fastboot is unchecked.....see if that helps

HUH?
I tried re-locking and doing the HTC unlock again. I restored my Fresh nandroid and I have the same results. I'll try re-locking and unlocking again when I get a chance and this time I'll see if SU works before restoring.
I have same issues. Adaway and wifi tether both say I have no root. Running meanRom 4.6 with s-on. Will be watching thread for hopeful fix.

I actually unlocked my phone last night 10-17-12 using htcdev (still S-on)... Everything was and still is stock and TB, Adfree and tether tells me I'm not rooted... Was wondering the same thing.

Can I have a link to a flashable one, the one from market isn't cutting it?
Hit it twice and make it count.
Unlocked does not give you root. It enables you to install a Rom with root access or install superuser. If you are unlocked and have installed a custom Rom with root support, you should already have superuser in the app drawer. Update whatever superuser app you have to the newest, and reboot.

[Q] SuperSU, Installed Failed

Hello!
My phone (Cherry Mobile Bubble Android 2.3.5) was rooted before through Mobogenie's One Click Root. I don't have any problem my apps gaining root access. But i can't do software update, so i thought that's because of being rooted. So I did permanent root at SuperSU settings, and I have successfully updated my phone. But when I rooted my phone again, I can't gain root access through SuperSu. It always shows "Installation failed". I do have an update zip file on my sd cards root. But to no avail.
Please help. I'm noob regarding on this.
You cant just install SuperSU and expect it to work. You need to use your 1 click tool again. Or another full rooting method.
When you unrooted the binaries that was root were deleted.

In addition, I already did uninstalling and re-installing superSU. And I have also tried to use Superuser or any other superuser app, but nothing happens. I already did a factory reset, but still no change.

Thanks for the reply
I already did that. I've rooted it again through one click root, and it says i am rooted. But SuperSu says, installation failed. While superuser says, it can't gain root access.
I have lost root access before when I updated SuperSu, I can't remember what i did then. But i was able to get back root access.
If you have a custom recovery superSU has the option to flash the correct one manually.

No, i don't have any custom recovery
Is there other way for me to flash the correct one?
Try Vroot, its another one click root method. I used it on my Note 3 and installed superSU afterwards. One downside is it's chinese, so its hard to read lol.

Not getting rooted again!

So I was rooted and I ran a security program just checking viruses and I saw a virus thing called Android exploit root.. So I searched up Android Exploit Root but nothing came up except how to root and other stuff so I just deleted the things that the virus scanner said there were two a system root app and a data file I don't actually know .. but it couldn't be deleted so I installed a system app uninstaller and uninstalled the system app which was called Kinguser and after that I restarted my phone and root was gone I tried to re root but nope it fails I kept on trying but nope.. well I searched up how to unroot and I was supposed to deleted the su file in system/xbin or system/bin but I didn't do that first now I'm stuck... Also I tried to install a stock firmware but I couldn't find any for my phone. My Phone is Galaxy Core Advance! HELP I NEED TO ROOT AGAIN!

This has worked for me before. Just run the King user app, don't even try to re root it. The app should try to fix itself and *MAY* install your missing files. It has worked for me countless times. Hope it helps.
