Gingerbread Vm notifications - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've run several different Roman radios etc, on my TB.
I keep hearing everyone complain about no notification of voicemails as a bug in GB. See here's the thing I get all my notifications matter of fact just got one this morning half hour ago, and never had a issue on any ROM. Id be more than happy to make a video and post it for proof, but before I do so I'd wanna make sure I'm running the same parameters.
I run vvm app I get a miss call I get a notification.
If I don't have a vvm app installed I get notified of voicemail recieved and recommends I get vvm.
So either way I'm being notified.
FYI I'm running 906 radios and bamf 1.06 at moment.

Unless teambamf figured out a way to get it working, it is not working on the stock ROMs. Thanks for the info though.

V V M works regular V M does not work. Also there are several market apps that work. It's only the stock V M that doesn't.

I wonder if the reason they let it ship with VM notifications broken is to encourage people to sign up for their visual voicemail service? I bet that is what the response from tech support will be.

Even when vvm not installed it says vm activities recieved, perhaps I'm missing something, ill grab the wifeys d1 and shoot a video when I get off the road, however I say free vvm for all if that's what it takes to get notifications for others. Wonder if i could use the notifications as a leverage point to get new phone since they broke my phone so to speak, oh vigor where thou art be?

Visual Voice Mail (VZW's *pay* app) works. Google Voice works. YouMail works. They all give notifications when a voicemail is left. MOST people do NOT use these though. The vast majority of users (discounting frequenters of XDA, rootzwiki, etc) most likely use Verizon's built-in, standard voice mail. The same system that works on dumb-phones as well as our smartphones. With that, without the fix, users do NOT get notification.

[Q] Das Bamf, ginngerbread and MMS.

OK. I apologize for the repeat question, but there seems to just be way too many threads with this mentioned, and way too much sifting for me to find the answer.
I am running Das-bamf gingerbread, de-sensed stripped (which is "wicked" awesome) and I am having a problem both sending and receiving MMS. I tried going into MMS settings and changing the source from Internet to Verizon, but to no avail. Does anybody else know of a solution?

I already have an exact duplicate of this thread open, literally same problem same rom same radio etc. Why open a new one? This needs to be consolidated and focused on in one big thread. So far I'm getting mixed reports. Some people say it works fine. Others say the same no MMS of any form. So idk what to tell you.
I for one know I am tech savvy and am very comfortable with command line and working my way around software, and I know I did everything fine. So I would really like to know what magical rainbow the people who have it working are floating along on, because I'd like a ride too.
I would have posted on your thread but it was like six on three AM and I was on my first cup of coffee.
I got mms working in gingerbread but I has to switch to Cyanogenmod. O only switched becauseI couldn't get my batt to charge with the dasbamf. I will most likely go back when both those issues are worked out

Visual voicemail on cm7

I have read everything I found regarding various issues on cm7 and have not seen any info on visual voice mail.
I use verizon's visual voicemail service and I flashed one of the earlier cm7 build and noticed it didn't work...then I went back to comm rom (mainly because of the deep sleep issues) and it (vvm) worked fine.
Fast forward a few days and
Cm7 has the deep sleep issues resolved...jt is the man! So I'm back on cm7 and visual voice mail isn't working...when I say not working I mean when I launch the app it just sits on a screen that says it verifying my subscription and then says I have no data connection..I've tried wiping data from the app, rebooting, un installing and re installing all with no luck. I don't know if any one else has this problem or not, but I guess what I'm looking for is your opinions on whether or not this is something that possibly will be fixed once this is a fully functional rom or will this always be an issue...please keep in mind I'm not complaining, blaming the rom or looking for an eta , I'm simply wondering if I should cancel my vvm service with verizon or wait and see if its fixed when the rom is no longer a"test build"? which I personally think its already past that! I can still get my voicemail the old fashioned way so its not a huge issue, I just didn't know if I was alone with this problem or if some one may know a work around to get vvm to work...if the answer is no or to just be patient...I will do just that. Thanks in advance for any info/opinions!

Carrier apps typically do not work on cyanogenmod, visual voicemail is no exception. My advice: cancel it and switch to Google voice as it will work on any rom, and its free.

The Useable CM9/ICS Thread

Been using CM9 from the i9100 section all day today without any issues.
On-Screen Button Modification:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1364757
VOIP Calling:
Finally, the last bit is to use your Google Voice account combined with SipDroid for SIP calling which works well over 3G/4G/Wifi.
For incoming, I stress everyone to try this:
"Also, with this configuration, incoming calls to google voice may reach your phone via cellular, and not data. If you want to remove the possibility of incoming calls going over cellular, sign into google voice, and under settings, uncheck mobile. Just leave google chat checked. Now incoming calls can only forward using VOIP."
This works with ANY ICS Android 4.0.* rom.
There is no need to replace the modem, the i9100 modem should work fine.
I would like to stress to anyone who modifies their framework-res.apk to please post it for others and state which ROM it works with.
Give it a go if you want a pretty usable ICS rom for the i777 - I however understand not everyone cares to go this far to get the ROM on their device but I don't mind sharing my adventure for others.
But calling and texting don't work outside of google voice?
Nice for trying but not suitable for everyday use until kernel sources come out.
But thanks for the heads up.

It does work with my setup. All data works great. Sipdroid is just a cheap work-around for no in-call audio over the voice radio. In-call audio works fine over a data network.
If I don't go out tonight, ill give your work around a shot op.

Nothing has changed; call audio still doesn't work. The OP presents a workaround by using data for voice calls. I suppose this will suffice for those that can't restrain themselves. It's tempting, but I'll wait until the proper fixes arise.

Can we mod any 9100 rom to use flash on the i777 or am i missing something? I would love to test drive this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1460702.
We can mod most gingerbread roms to work well on i777s using Entropy's hellraiser program, but it doesn't work for ICS yet. Once we have kernel sources you will quickly see some good custom ICS roms for our phone.

You can't use the Andyx ICS version but you can use his 2.3.6 based version and I would recommend it. I had it on my phone and it ran perfectly, nice looking rom too!
If it weren't for hellraising I'd be quite bored! LOL I'm currently running the Omega rom. I've been running that one for about a week its also a really good choice! Just make sure you grab either the black and blue version of Omega or stock as ICS version will not work on our phones yet of course.
This whole ideal seems really cool. I may give a try myself. One question though. Is it difficult to answer and receive calls?

Call audio is going to be a *****.
This work around was posted a while back. Not a true fix but it works. Unfortunately, I think most will wait for ics to drop so making calls can be done via voice network, not wifi/data.

Ahh ok. Well its also nice to have proper ui control with the on screen buttons as well.
And for those wondering about the calling: it works very well as it integrates with the stock phone.apk. I do not however know how to get incoming calling forwarded through the pbxes account.

For some this is completely useable because not everyone uses calling much. I text way more than I call. And if I'm talking iits because I made the call - people don't call me often. Take it for what its worth I suppose.

cricket phone.apk fix for ICS?

I'm on cricket as well, what do you mean native voice mail doesn't work? Is it set up with your phone number in the phone settings? I've always just used Google Voice, way better IMHO.
I mean when I person leaves a voicemail it doesn't leave a icon at top. I just gotta call my voicemail every now and then to make sure there isn't one.

yea i did a nandroid and pushed it. when i rebooted the phone process just kept giving me FC and it was so unusable that i had to go back to my backup. i know it dont work now..lol.
Yeah for awhile I just thought no one was leaving me voicemails till one day I called just to check and my voicemail was full...lol. when you pushed it did you sweet the permissions to rw-r-r?

my file manager auto makes the system rw-r-r..its an option. so yes it does get the permission it needs to write over.
I know you probably want to use the native voicemail, but take a gander at this. Later today I will try and see what is going on with the phone.apk. Can't guarantee anything, but at least take a look at GV, its is awesome.

Native Call Recording with Stock ICS?

From my Windows Mobile days, I always flashed the EnergyROM ROMs and always had the option to go to phone settings during a phone call and just hit "Record" and I would record my phone calls natively. In Windows, this could also be enabled by changing some registry keys and adding some others, there was no need for third party software.
I've seen on Google Play that there are several third party Apps that claim to enable the call recording functionality, and since those apps can do it natively as they say, I would like to know if there's a way to enable/add the functionality to the native phone dialer without having to install a third party app, like it used to be in Windows Mobile...
I wish I knew Linux/Android enough to go play with the configuration files, but unfortunately I don't know enough yet, so any help will be appreciated.
Cheers!
Z
Not in ICS.
Some third party apps MAY work but from what I've seen they don't work well.

Callrecorder is $9.95 just so you are prepared.

For the life of me i don't know why the developer has left that feature out of his ics releases.

See, that's the thing, I refuse to pay for an app that provides a functionality that is native to the OS and should be enabled by default. And $9.95? Are you kidding?
This has been talked about to death. And the only reason anyone can come up with is that it could cause huge legal issues depending on where you live. So they disabled it on the kernel level.

I don't think it's removed from the kernel. It might be switched off, like record=0 kind of thing. But it's there.
I think I'd pay for it if I had another reason to move from Dayton. But, honestly I haven't been impressed by any of the roms I've mucked with.

They should enable it and let the users deal with the legal issues that may arise. A are all adults, and if we can have weapons and free speech, then we should also be able to record our calls.
I want to have the same weapon big companies have, if they record my calls for training purposes like they say and then they can use those calls against you, I want to record the calls too so I can quote then accurately.
I would like to know how to enable the option in the kernel. I will research this and if I can figure it out I'm going to post it here

I tried the latest and greatest of his JB Tom this weekend, it didn't have call recording though. I'm back on Saurom. Anyone finding anything else?
I'm on bigfau's black*star ics, and I use Sanity from the playstore to record my calls. Will record 2 minutes for free. Have to pay 4 dollars and some change for infinite recording. Seems to work good so far. When u get a call, slide down the notifications and hit record.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 2
I tried sanity on a jb rom but i think it wasn't working because i set the delays too 0 from the default of ( i think ) 3 seconds.
--update my first real phone call was blank. Not zero file size, 45 seconds of nothing. Uninstalled and installed callrecorder trial. Sanity did have some nice other features.
I got tired of the various roms i tried known issues. So im trying bigfau's black star with sanity trial. It appears to work. I left the defaults for recording delays and set it to record all calls... I'll manage the files.
My only hesitation to buying sanity is its age. Callrecorder is twice the cost but is still being developed...
At least i have bigfau left developing a stable rom. No flicker, no random reboots, etc.
