Best ROM for Battery Longetivity - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What's the best ROM for Battery Longevity?
Currently I'm on SpeedMod T40 and Lite'ning ROM 6.1 and getting an average of 10 hours battery life on moderate use. I have FB, Tweetcaster, aCurrency widget running. The phone is less than a month old, so 10 hours of battery life is really not good.
Can you share the battery stats your getting for other ROMs?

But VR3.0 is good basic stock rom with Pulsers magic on it and the Tweaks and id also suggest BatistaRom...but its all down to you what you choose and what suits your needs

Thanks Matriak, I'll update my original post to make it more helpful. I was hoping to get a list of ROM tested and average battery life on that ROM.

[Q] What is the best custom rom to use on a daily basis?

Hiya guys just interested to find out what is the best custom rom that is out at the moment to use on a daily basis please? Or is it best to stay on stock and just root or not root at all.
I love my GS2 and its the fastest phone i had so far and i want to look after it so with the right rom i would be happy.
Cheers
As always the right rom for you is the one YOU like .
Their is no best just many to try .
Cognition Villain are the two to start with .

There are plenty of Custom ROM's. You have to test them one by one to see which one suit your needs.
I, personally though, use and advice Stock ROM always
Regards.
what about batistas rom? i am looking for the battery friendly one you see...quick question...when installing a new rom does it take the battery a few days for it to settle and see the real battery life?
thanks in advance
They all claim battery friendly .
does it take the battery a few days for it to settle and see the real battery life?
Yes also requires resetting battery stats after a flash and full charge .
Best to read each rom thread and see what users moan about .
jje
Personally I'm using Cognition v1.41 and I'm loving it
Friendly on the battery, its quick and the odexed browser is a great to have if you like the stock browser.

thanks dude im using cognitions latest one..whats your display like in the battery usage if i can ask?
Gotta say that every ROM are good in different ways. I liked MIUI but also Cognition. But it ended in Cognition cause it's more bugfree.

Which ROM has the best battery life

I'm using Seraphim and I'm happy with the battery life. It seems to be worse than the GB ROM but I can get about 2% down every hour when the phone is idle.
I am thinking of trying different ROMs and battery life is very important to me. Which ROM will give the phone a better battery life based on your experience?
Thanks.

ah ok, im in search of a good ics battery friendly rom as well, actually downloading dag's ics "hybrid" rt now. i'll give it a go for the next couple days and post back. i was seeing about the same as you for seraphim.
In my experience, unless there's a bug, a ROM has little effect on battery life. Android is going to use a certain amount of power to run itself, and there is little that a dev can cook into a ROM to change this. Beyond the system, battery usage is from the screen, apps, and radios. If you are in an area with poor reception, and have lots of apps and widgets that frequently update in the background, this will decrease battery life.
I've used both DaGr8's Alpha II and Seraphim, and my battery drains less than 1% per hour when idling.
Guys a Search would have told you that Battery life is 99% on the user and has almost nothing to do with the rom. We could be running the exact same rom and get very different battery lifes due to the apps we use and how we have the device set up.
In the end there is not best rom. Only what works best for you.

Different roms and kernels yield different results for different people. Someone may get amazing battery life on one ROM, but you may not. That's why it's recommended to try a bunch out and see how your phone behaves after a couple of days of use. Viper4g + Enoch kernel is the winning combo for me in terms of battery life. Someone else may have different results though.

You gotta give us more info man.
Basic power saving tips still apply, I would suggest starting with them
based on the info supplied flash back to complete stock and test that.
if you have good battery life it was the rom you flashed. If not its a device issue.

Battary life and ROMS

Hi I loaded this rom to my I9100
GT-I9100_WanamLite.XXLSJ.V13.0.NO-WIPE
It is awesome but seems to really drain my battery.
considering testing
[I9100][ROM 4.1.2] Stock 4.1.2 JB to see if it improoves.
I want to find out what ROM has the best battery life on my phone.
Can anyone provide responses on what roms work flawlessly and dont have excessive battery drain.
Thanks so much in advance.
I love this forum.
first of all this question is against the rule regardless how it is worded. check the sticky at the top of this forum.
Battery drain depends on a number of factors.
Some of the factors are :
What type of apps you have on the phone.
Do you leave wifi on all days
Do use push email set how often
How you use your phone for calls, streaming and games.
These factors are different from person to person, there for what one rom works for one person may not work for you.
The best way is to experiment with different roms till you find one that suits you in aappearance and battery life.

Here is the video you need to watch before asking any more questions...

you'll have to test for yourself... combination of roms+kernels etc... but personally rootbox 3.2 (with default kernel) gave me the best battery life...

[Q] Would you recommend upgrading to KK, for battery life?

Hello everyone!
I'm the long-time proud owner of a Galaxy S2 NFC (GT-I9100P): almost 3 years and counting....
After more than two years with stock roms, some months ago, I switched to NeatROM, to see if I could get better battery life (right now I'm on JellyBean: XWMS3 NeatROM v.6.4, kernel 3.0.101-Apolo_4.14_Light-gf40153f).
As of now, I manage to keep the phone on (with some ordinary texting, whatsapp texting, a few twits, 2-4 phonecalls & some internet research per day) for about 13-14 hours (most of the time, I manage to get home with 10% battery or less...I suspect this is also due to bad signal strenght where I work ).
Anyway, I read around the forums flashing a KitKat ROM might squeeze a little more battery juice, thanks to its "optimizations", yet I also read it might bring out battery draining issues...so I'm a bit at loss...
Would you recommend me to update my phone to KitKat, or would you suggest to stick to JellyBean?
I'm posting a poll. DO please also add your considerations to your vote.
Thank you in advance,

Sry in advance, I'm replying using the app and I found no way to vote here.
My experience I've made is generally the Samsung based roms like miui, fusion or neat rom are good at battery life. I think Samsung did a nice job there.
Custom roms which aren't based on stock rom didn't have the same good battery life for me.
Thinking about KitKat roms I've made the experience that the phone often had some wakelocks, I couldn't reproduce. I also read other user had the same problems as well.
So in summary i didn't get better battery life there either.
For me best battery life can be found at stock rom based roms.
Talking about battery life, I'd recommend you to try apolo kernel, as this kernel seems to improve it, especially by using undervolting.
Good luck finding a good rom.

Many thanks for your opinion.
As you can see, I'm already on Apolo kernel, but I still haven't played with its options... I'll consider your suggestion, while I wait for some more contributions on the topic.

My recomendation is try for yourself.
Battery drain is very dependant on the way the phone is used.
I have my supported S 2 running AOSP Neatrom and use three apps to help with battery drain: Greenify, Leandroid and Unbounce. The first requires Xposed for full funcionality and the third is a Xposed module.
I really do not like Touchwiz roms and prefer to have AOSP richier UI configuration. With the apps above you might be able to move to AOSP and still have a battery life that is good enough for you.
And remember, after a few years of use batteries loose performance. Just get a new one and you certainly will have more juice by the end of the day.
