I backed up my stock os with clockwork recovery, and backed up my apps with titanium, I read that I shouldn't back up user data other than wifi and bookmarks due to possible problems. Do I need to do anything else as far as backing up goes? Will I have to reconfigure my apn and network settings to be able to make calls and use data service, or will bionix v include that when I flash?

It all stays....just be sure your backup is a 2.2 cause your gonna have problem if you run a 2.2 rom and try to restore a 2.1 rom
Well....I'm glad I asked. My plan was to go to bionix v from 2.1 stock rooted. So I'll just be better off downloading them again after flashing? Is there a full list somewhere of all the apps bionix comes with?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Restoring your apps from to 2.1 to 2.2 shouldn't give you a problem. I did this many times and never had any issues. Its only the system data you need to worry about giving you issues.
Sent from a Galaxy S far....far....away.
the apps, it will never give you a problem.
but restoring the whole system like a nandbackup will if you go from 1 firmware to another.
Other backups like launcher pro backups will not do anything either, they're all in your SD Card.

What he said....thats what I was getting at
Thanks guys...one last question before I flash.
Will I be ok to backup and then restore on bionix v system (bloatware) like "thinkfree office" and "avatar" and "the sims" and "daily briefing"?
I ask because titanium doesnt back them up when I batch them as user apps so I have to back them up manually.

Hey.."there's an app for that".... yep in the DEV section is an easy tool called Android Customization Suite or you can put them back on manually
I may have to check that out. I think I'm going to go a different route with the applications.
One final question before I flash. I'm just about ready.
In titanium backup.....will I be ok to backup (in 2.1 stock) and restore (in 2.2 bionix) just the green text system data such a MMS settings and Voicemail dialer and my apn settings (only the stuff in green text) our does all of that need put in manually? I've read that its ok to restore green text system data such as bookmarks and wifi but wanted to know if the other green text stuff was ok as well.

The ROM DEV recommends not to install any system data or system apps from a TB...So I would say, if you went through all of this hard work to get yourself a custom ROM just to have to re-do it because of an incompatible file or data problem..then that would be on you..
If it were me I would not bring anything over from a 2.1 to 2.2 system. I would just put it back in manually
Right on man....thats what I'm gonna do then.
I checked out that customization suite and I'm think that will be able to help me get the system apps back on here that I want. I won't really know if I can get it to work til after I take a leap of faith and just flash the rom. With what everybody else has said about how badass team whiskey's bionix v is, I guess I should probably trust the overwhelming opinion and flash it. Then worry about how to correctly get the bloatware back on here that I want. Im pretty sure I know what I'm doing at this point. Just have to do it.
Thanks a lot for your help man.... I appreciate the time you took to give me advice....as well as everyone else.
I'll let everyone know how it goes.

It seems like every time I get ready to flash I come up with another question.
Do I need to copy the nandroid backup of my current stock 2.1 to the external sd or to my pc before flashing? I know bionix wipes the system automatically when flashing so won't it remove the nandroid backup?
** Nevermind....found the answer. Leave nandroid backups where cwr places them. If this is incorrect...someone let me know please**

sounds right to me...only way its gonna come up missing is if you format or delete the cwm folder yourself
Thanks for your help jmcghee. Finally took the plunge and Im rocking bionix with most of my apps and loving it. This thing is now a rocket ship. It blows my mind how fast it is. Its like going from a dell to an alienware. All I reccommend for you guys that haven't flashed yet but are thinking about it...read, read, read, ask questions and go for it. Its not as hard as it seems at first. And the noob guide is invaluable.

Hello guys, first I will like to thank all of you for supporting the forum and for helping me a lot. I been trying by far do the list below and I cant get it to work correctly in more then 20 attempts and Im afraid I will totally brick my vibrant.
Done Procedures;
I have ROOTed the Phone
BackUp all my files using Titanium
Flashed ClockWorkMod with Rom Manager
Flashed with ROM Bionix V 1.3.1
Delete Cache and Dalvik...
Rebooted system
At that point everything is good but once I install a kernel I start having problems with the SD recognition by PC and Installing or un-installing apps to device
Any tips or step by step how should do to install Bionix 1.3.1 with kernel Tigers Blood with Voodoo sound and colors without a problem?
or maybe to install Axura with out been so lagging.
Any reason for not testing Trigger, with OverStock 2.2?
Try trigger, or a 2.2.1 port. Pne of those may work faster.

I will try this mate and report back. I just did an back up and now lets just see how this setup does it for me. All I want is a good theme ROM, fast and stable, Honestly I loved the Axura ROM but is to lagging for me for some reason.
Bionix is great but I have the same problem with all the roms I install. When the USB is not detected then is the apps cant be install or un-install.
Will try this one as I havent yet and besides it gives me more experience nothing to loose.
Thanks mate
Feel free to shoot me a pm if needed. Just be sure you've read the noob guide.

OMG here we go again, I think Im doing something wrong. I have the same issue as the more same I do like the How to's state I have the problem with installing and un-installing soft. When i even try to restore my back up for apps from Titanium it wont let me since all the apps stay like computing. I think is something wrong with the apps system or something.
I havent flashed yet the kernel.
I will try to install the ROM again
Not to sound rude, but did you follow the instructions in the noob guide on the proper way to backup, flash and restore?
Perhaps you should just ODIN back to stock and start over if you have.
Let me know if I can help, try and be detailed in your posts though... that last one, I really have no clue what you were trying to say.
Odin root cwm flash...... I hope your only flashing one thing at a time... Not rom+kernel+theme+ boot animation or somthing wildly stupid

I really love this ROM looks great and very smooth. I will use ODIN and go back to stock then I will root and then will flash with CWM and comeback here for some tips. I want to get this right for the first time at least.
TY so much mate
Ok, Im done, I have installed the ROM and let it sit for 10 mins at least then rebooted. What step should I do now to flash a kernel like Tiger blood or OverStock.
Or what will be the next step other then configuring the login for google?

I did used the ODIN to Stock Flash my phone and then one out a time after reboot ect...
you may want to stay stock trigger for awhile and test it out.
when ready, download overstock 2.2, move it to sdcard/, reboot to CWR, install from zip (like a rom), after you flash it, reboot.... you'll notice a new splash screen for overstock, all done.

Ok, I have seen enough of this. lol I so sad to see how easy this is but frustrated when I get problems like the one I still have. Everything was great until I started installing the apps from the Titanium back up i made. It did installed about 15 apps but after those been installed successfully it just got stocked loading and it wont install any more apps or even un-install. Cant even install apps from the market.
What is wrong with this thing, is very stressful try and try and get the same result on 4 different ROMS I have tested already. I really hate to ask for help as I like to read and try it for myself so I can about a new hobby.
But this one is biting my hand very hard. Can you please tell me ehat can I do in this case mate to trouble shoot this?
Thank you for your time friend
Something I have done a bit different is that I have put the files in separate folders for more organize.
Like for sample; at sd_root/ I have a folder name Download which it have sub-folders that look like this tree below
Download
//
-Kernels/
-Metamorhp Mods/
-Misc Mods/Apps
-Modems
-Mods
-Roms
-Themes
Do you think that will be a problem by not having the Files at the root location at SD?
When you are restoring your titanium back ups, are you only restoring apps? I mean, are you restoring system data too? You don't want to restore system data, and only restore apps. Sometimes restoring system data from previous roms can cause problems.
If this still doesn't help, you might just want to redownload all your apps, and then make a backup. Sounds like your issue is linked to titanium back up.

That makes sence!! I will load the ROM again and start over and see how it goes installing just the apps. I was restoring the apps and data
If it doenst help I will continue your suggestion to install the apps one by one NOT from the Titanium as it was back up from a different ROM.
thanks i will let know how it goes.
stay away from restoring system data when flashing roms. Just the apps with the app data. Hope this helps man. If not, let's go over the entire order of what you are doing and we will figure out what is going on.

Ok here goes to nothing. I have dont everything correctly like the Guide's stating and everything works great at first but them it just stop working the whole file system apparently. Is just works great and after few app installs it just fail. When I go to check the files from the File management it just say Computing instead of loading and give the file size info ect....
What can it be I dont have a clue as I have search the whole forum and I dont see this problem posted by any other. Its just wont install, un-install or even cant stop any app from working.
What else can i do?
When backing up with Titanium, its okay to back up user apps and their data. As far as system data, Titanium has it sorted by what is and isn't safe to restore. Green entries are all good, don't back up any entries with red text.
This is how I've been backing up stuff since before 2.2 dropped, and I've never run into any strange issues.
Just a shot in the dark, but it might be a bad sd card, or just needing a format. Try backing up all your sd files on your computer, and format your sd card and see if that helps. I had some funky stuff going on with my phone, and it went away after I did that.
[Q] Clarifying switch from 2.2 ROM to P3 pr-root GB
Hey guys, just want to make sure I have the process down for my switch tonight. I read through few other threads and didn't see this addressed directly.
So I am running the affinity 2.2 ROM and would like to upgrade to P3's pr-root version of Gingerbread. Since the rom is debloated and deodexed I can't xo a direct update because I am pretty sure some system files will be missing. So the question is do I have to SBF back to stock or could I just restore the android backup I made before updating to the ROM? From what I know so far (but I am new to this) doing so would fulfill all the requirements for the P3 upgrade.
Thanks in advance.

Its probably best to err on the side of caution and sbf to avoid any unforeseen events
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
I don't have SBF so I used a regular backup. Might be good to get the 2.2.2 system dump just in case you deleted a few apps that will make you error on upgrading.
I'd make a backup of your apps/data (Titanium Backup, or whatever equivilent you may use). SBF to stock, boot up, re-activate, re-root, and install the recovery app. Slap P3's update.zip on your sdcard-ext root, boot into recovery, and apply it. After that you can re-install your backup program and restore your apps.
That's what I did. I don't think anyone has put out any custom ROMs for this release, but I'd only assume they are coming shortly.
i didn't sbf before i flashed p3s gb and everything has worked great.
i would flash the orig backup. restore all apps. restore the build.prop to the original. delete script manager to get rid of any scripts that you were running.
wipe data, system restore, wipe dalvik, wipe cache and flash the p3 gb. that's all i did.

Im still new at all this but that seems like more work than just doing a sbf, wouldn't it just be easier to sbf the phone?

Thanks for all the replies guys.
H_10 hit the nail on the head about what I was going to try. But EvilTim might be right in that it may end up being a little more work that way. I just never had SBFed before (coming from blackberry) and figured I knew this route better. I guess it wouldn't hurt to learn how to SBF now anyhow but I thought I saw some people having some weird problems SBFing.
the sbf problems are why i stayed away from sbf. i've used sbf on my OG droid w/ out any issues but reading about all the issues w/ the x2 made me shy away from it. it's entirely up to you. it was that much "work" to restore the phone for me since i wasn't running a rom. just unfrooze my apps, re-stored orig build prop, deleted 99supercharger from init.d folder, and uninstalled script manager. took 5 mins.

Just got started rooting, etc, a couple of weeks ago on the wife's X2, and got an early Christmas VZW Droid Razr!
To play it safe, I just rooted using Zedomax's method and it installed the Bionic Bootstrap Recovery; and I've did one backup just to be safe.
After researching here, I found there's a newer razr bootstrap here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1341578
This one uses Zergrush V2 root method but doesn't install the Bootstrap Recovery as the Zedo method does. Nitro has the thread to install the RazrBootstrap.apk which I assume is a newer version here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347767
I also see that Hashcode has Safestrap available which I assume is another backup/recovery method.
My goal right now is to have the razr rooted so I can get rid of the bloat plus have secure/stable backups in case I start experimenting and screw something up.
Is there any benefits to removing the Bionic Bootstrap and installing the Razr Bootstrap? Or using the Safestrap version?
Sorry for the noob questions; and I appreciate any feedback.
THANKS!
Since I'm not getting any feedback on the OP, I'd like to ask if a system restore to my initial backup would cause a particular app to not function properly?
Got an issue and it's really got me stumped.
ANY feedback would be truly appreciated!!!

Not sure. When I click on the Contacts app, and tap a contact I get this message:
SORRY!
The application Contacts Storage (process com.motorola.contacts) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Force close
Talked with a guy today that seemed to be well informed; and he thinks my restore of the initial backup made with Bionic Bootstrap recovery method is missing some data compared to the stock data or has corrupted a file.
THANK YOU for any help!
Have you debloated any of the blur related contacts stuff from system/app? For some reason removing the yahoo contacts or work contacts hoses things up. In the themes/apps section someone posted a link to a full TiBu image of the stock apps if you need a specific item. Factory reset might be the only fix though, or possibly trying to restore only the system partition of your nandroid if its not corrupted.

Have not removed/froze any of the necessary apps that I'm aware of........
After initial root, did a nandroid bu along with a full bu in TiBu Pro. When I started having issues with the contacts, I restored back to initial nandroid along with TiBu. Also used TiBu to extract/restore all the apps from the nandroid bu.
TiBu is currently showing 246 user and system apps. Can't look at the image of stock apps you mention above (at work), but will do that later.
My only resort may be to unroot, and factory reset.......
VZW Replaced Razr
Sharing the results of the Contacts Issue:
Local VZW sales had my razr for a while trying to figure out the FC's when selecting a Contact.........owner talked with Motorola Support plus Verizon Support. Neither had any idea what was causing my issues. Told Store owner to replace it. Now have a new razr in hand!
I have a few questions I was hoping to get some answers too. A little background I just got my Milestone X2 rooted and I got myself into trouble when freezing an app I should not have with Bloat Freezer (http://bloatfreezer.com). What happened was "Home" crashed over and over even after a battery pull and thus the phone from an interface perspective was bricked.
However I was still able to access the adb shell as root and as such in theory if I knew what the app changed I could have put it back by "hand". So first question is there an easy way to tell what Bloat Freezer changed? Some are obvious if they are APKs others seemingly are something else. In this case I froze Motorola Services I couldn't figure out what files were renamed.
My second question is if I had a tar ball of /data and /system could I have just extracted them over the top of the running directories to restore the functionality?
Thanks in advance for any insight.

As another point, I have not had much luck getting Recovery on my phone and I fear bricking it trying to get that on. So I figured at least freezing some bloat would help the phones performance. In addition a lot of the ROMs for the DROID X2 seem to have some odd issues on the Milestone X2.

Do a "safe boot": pwr up w/ both the pwr and menu keys release the pwr @ the big m but keep on the menu till the vibration . Will only load sys apps.
Edit always do zipping on yo phone. I find PCs don't zip well enough for androids.
I (dx2) can DL cwm's latest touch recovery for Olympus (atrix) and flash it (install zip from sd) in cwr and it works saves boot partition and all work great BUT IT WILL NOT RESTORE SYSTEM. Saves as tarballs. You still have to boot cwr to flash it! Manibengood did something to get his Tenfar's it to work (are you guys on the same blur? ).
