Hello,
today i wanted to install a new sd-card with higher transfer-class in my minipro.
Because of using stock-rom before some days I had an ext2-partition on the old sd-card and all apps where located there.
Now I'm using miniCM7 Pro v10 and so I decided to move all apps to sd-partition, then make a full copy of the old sd-partition to the new sd-card and then copy some system-apps like launcher back to the internal memory of my phone because of performance.
Until partition-copy at PC everything worked fine. But now I can't move the system-apps back to system-memory. App2SD says it's not possible because there is not enough free memory.
But in internal memory are still 155Mb.
Where ist the problem?
I can't let the apps stay on sd-card. I can't use any of my widgets, launcher doesn't list them.

You don't need ext2 in this ROM, because it's native app2sd. format sd card, just with one pastisi and impossible to move the application system to the sd card.
That was the reason for me to do that what I did.
Before doing that all apps where on these ext2-partition as "past pollution" of the stock rom. But the new app2sd of custom rom thought the apps where on internal memory and couldn't notice that it was an external ext2-partition.
Thats why I copyed all installed apps (not the hole system) with app2sd to the sdcard-partition and so on.
Now the Problem is still there... I can't move apps from sdcard-partition to phone with app2sd...

check free memory in the system ROM with Titanium Backup.
Application systems and applications built ROM is here, if it,s full. deleting unused aplication or unnecessary aplication.
System-ROM: 18,8Mb free
Intern: 138Mb free
SD-Card: 3,2Gb free
An I thought Apps would be installed on "intern", isn't it?
Wherefore else is Intern?

I installed the magnificent Cronos 0.0.9 ROM (Android 2.3 Gingerbread) in my HTC Hero, following dkelley's instructions on the Developer forum for that device. It works brilliantly, speed is superb, and it looks like battery life is going to be better than the Cyanogen 6.1 it replaced.
Everything works for me : Camera, compass, GPS (sort of), auto brightness.
But there is one unusual problem. I cannot find any other forum threads that refer to this. When I use menu->Settings->Applications->Manage Applications, I can move apps to or from the SD card. Except it doesn't work most of the time. I get this message: "Failed to move application. There is not enough storage left"
I have 24MB free on the phone and 2.4GB free on the SD card. So it should not have a problem when I try to move anything (all but 2 of my apps are under 7MB). I have seen a case of being successful with an app of 730K moving to SD. But when I remove that, and try again with a 410K app, it fails. 90% of apps I have tried have failed.
I was very successful with this in my previous ROM, so I know it's not read errors on the SD.
I did forget to delete the old apps dot directory on the SD card before the upgrade. I don't know if that can cause a problem.
As I am too shiny and new, I can't post on the developer forum. A good rule, if it keeps the noise level slightly lower.
So I thought I would post here & see if anyone knows of general fixes for app 2 SD problems of this kind. Maybe it's just that the ROM is too Beta & it's to be expected. That's what happens out at the ragged edge
If u don't have an ext partition on your sdcard then I'm afraid it won't work on Cronos GB 0.0.9 Beta because the apps moved to External are moved on the fat partition and they Force Close all the time anyway on this rom. Now ... app2sd works verry weird on this rom. If u have an ext partition on your sdcard and if u want your apps to be on that partition (and they wont FC on you) all you need to do is let them on Internal (move to phone) and not External (move to sdcard). The apps are installed/moved to the ext partition instead and not on the phone's actual memory (again... as I said weird but it works). If u want to be able to move the apps to sdcard .. I recomend you back-up your files from sdcard to your pc, go to recovery and make an ext partition and wipe it(just in case) and boot your phone and try installing your apps.I'm installing my apps automaticaly to the ext partition by choosing the Install Location to Internal from CM Extra->Application settings. Sorry I wrote alot and if I haven't made myself clear but I'm still at work (3rd shift) and I am tired.
Example: I have a 2gb sdcard... On it I have the ext partition of 240MB, the rest is the fat partition. If I leave my apps on Internal(move to phone), my Phone's Memory is 140/173MB and my ext partition 47.5/240MB .. If I move them to External(move to sd card), My Phone's Memory is 140/173 and my ext partition is about 230/240 MB because the apps are moved to the fat partition (with your errors) and they Force Close when launched on this rom.
You're right, I can see that in the release notes. I am surprised, it's a long time since I have used a ROM that supported ext partitions. Most of them seem to use the Google apps2SD method now.
Cyanogen has even stated that it is no longer officially supported by them.
So I guess it's just individual developers who still prefer the ext approach that still use it.
It's not too hard to do...
Thanks for the tip
You're welcome! Remember that your sdcard content will be deleted when you will partition your sdcard so make a backup if you need them. I find ext is better than normal because you can use the apps from your sdcard while you phone is connected to the computer (your PC mounts the fat partition and leaves the ext partition to be used as normal on the phone and I find that a good thing)
I have rooted my optimus one.
just wanna know which are d apps that are neCessary to remain in the phone memory.
so that i cn move rest to sd.
Widgets should remain in the phone memory. Everything else that doesn't run frequently should go to the SD card

Are you using the stock ROM? Apps that are in /system/app cannot be moved to the SD. If you installed it via downloading/installing from the market or somewhere else, you can move it.
Everything that feels like it should be launched no matter what or those that need to be started quickly on boot, keep it on the phone memory.

Yeah. m on stock.
did move sum apps to sd via app 2 sd enabler.
Cmon guys I thougjt it was safe to move all sh#t to sd
It's safe. It's just that apps that need to be started on boot must be there as soon as it can. Read and write speeds on the SD card is much slower than on the phone memory.
Well he didnt ask for fast boot
It's not about fast booting It's about getting the things you need as fast as you can. For example, I need a widget to load as fast as it can since it has to be there as soon as the phone boots. That was my point
Everything that you don't use everyday move to SDcard (if possible). If you move favourite apps to SD and you acces them all day long you will shorten the SDcard's life.
I have void with a2sd enabled. So all user applications are on sd. Can I use titanium backup to move some apps to internal memory?

I used Titanium to move a lot of stuff over to the SD from Internal... Stuff in the /system directory doesn't affect your phone's "Internal Storage Space" as reported in the Settings menu since /data and /system are separate partitions. Apart from /system apps, the only thing that I would want to move to the SD that it couldn't move was the PayPal App from the app-private location. Going into ADB wouldn't allow me to do it either.
Titanium also allowed me to uninstall a bunch of the **** that came installed like game demos. This did not free up additional storage space, with the exception of what it removed from Dalvik-Cache. Which, btw is going to be your biggest issue... Some ROM's allow you to move this to the /cache partition, but this is a relatively small partition (~56MB) on this phone and my Dalvik-Cache currently takes up ~90MB.
Pls reply here guys.

I use app 2 sd to move everything I dont need frequently on SD, than just long press on those program from app 2 sd and Open them.
It's a bit tricky and I dont know other ways (on the home screen most of SD apps wont appear...) but I never had slow opening and the like
Everything was ok till xtesterday.
today i rebooted ma cell,
and all d apps disappeared of sd.
though sd is accessible via file manager, gallery.
i tried formattingsd,cell reset.
bt all in vain.
cant install from file manager.
cant even install from market.
even unable to unmount ma card.
any solution???

I used Titanium again and used it to incorporate the updated GApps into the ROM. I knew that I had about 56MB free on the system partition. Putting Gmail, Maps, Street view, Market and anything else that I could find freed 30MB on the data partition.
Hi, I have upgraded my x10a to 2.3 Cyanogen but I don't like the stock camera it has. I miss my old camera (in 1.6 or 2.1 version). Is it possible to have that camera installed in 2.3? I don't want to go back to 2.1 to have it.
I've found some disadvantages with this new camera:
1. Zoom buttons don't work neither on video or camera mode (I changed the settings and rebooted it but not fixed yet).
2. Shutter screen touch mode is not available.
3. Burst & self-timer options are not available in camera in 2.3
I have tried others camera app like FX, pudding, magic camera... but none seems to have all features in one.
Thanks for any suggestion
its known that camera in cyanogenmod has its faults, but why just you dont keep the 2.3.3???? and just upgrade the things you want, like facebook inside xperia 2 and the swype keyboard from 2.3.4,just my humble opinion
Having a similar trouble with JP MIUI v6. All the customization is great but losing the ability to zoom is killing me. I'm thinking of going back to 2.3.3 stock until i find a way around it. I was really sad to hear @gm007 had a new phone and was no longer working on his mod because it really rocks.
I started modifying my cell coz I wanted to move apps to my SD. my cell's memory is not that big (500 and something) so everytime it gives the error of not enough space and I had to delete some apps to release some space... do u know if 2.3.3 allows moving apps to SD? I tried app2sd when I had 2.1 but SD partition is needed. After sd partitioned the app don't recognize the partition and it said unable to move... I guess I have to sacrifice one feature for another. Thanks 4 any suggestions

All 2.2.x up roms support native apps to SD. A stock 2.3.3 rom will move the apps to the SD Card. App2sd, link2sd and S2E all require a second partition to link to, but you can move dalvik and lib files also so you pretty much have unlimited app storage. On native android those files will be stored internally eventually filling up your internal storage.

you can move apps since 2.2,also with adb mask controller you can set the default location to install apks to sd card.
Camera camcoder lag videos
Wait for Achotjan to include the stock camera to his CM7.1 rom.

Is it possible to move the system apps to sd card using link2SD ?
No. You can convert system apps to user apps then move them. At your own risk...
Yea
If you have a rooted phone and realy want to force your phone apps to be moved on sd storage you may be successfull but than you dont have any guarantee that they´ll work as they should because in some case it is evident to be on phone storage
Further it may cause system crashes if the sd card is dismounted or interrupted in some way because the system in system apps means that they´re workin on the system =)
Hi. My question is:
I have copy all the .apk from \system\app of my mobile. Can I uninstall these one with link2sd and after that run the apk from my saving to force them via link2sd to install on a partition from sd card ?
And in the apk there is some system apps (ok for google apps like youtube).
Thanks in advance for your replies.
dont. it will brick your phone
Which is the best and EASIEST program to do that on rooted mobile phones?
I'm having a strange problem. All of my movable apps are in sd card and I've also uninstalled and disabled some bloatware, but my internal storage is full!! 7.40 out of 8 to be exact. 3.40 gb of apps!! When all of my apps are on sd card except some system apps.
I have a e2312. Non rooted. Please someone help me out
buffing up the question , same problem here ...
Root and delete bloatware. Disabling doesn't free enough space. Install sd maid.
bloatware fully deleted and still 7,30GB od 8GB free...
Do clean install.
Check folder content. Some Apps like QQ, Wechat and other social messengers keep a lot of useless data in you internal storage.
which folder do you mean ?
i don't wanna void my warranty as i have a few months left so i can't root my phone for now. and i did a clean install via flashtool a few days back. any other things i can try apart from a clean install?
Since you don't want to root and use links2sd, you may want to try Adoptive Storage option via ADB
