Zagg screen protector - HTC Jetstream

http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield/htc-jetstream-cases-screen-protectors-covers-skins-shields.php
Zagg hasn't updated their menu system or search yet, but the InvisibleShield is available for the Jetstream now.

Ehh. Their screen protectors are too thick and waxy for me. I want one like sprint sells for the EVO. Its like a sheet of transparency paper. Very nice imo.

I put my devices through too much torture for a normal screen protector. Any other than zagg get torn, scratched through, or just peel off. I dont like how it creates divots when using the pressure sensitive pen, though. Good thing I'm not an artist, I guess.

it doesn't have same screen of other HTC mobiles thats unscratchable ? (gorilla screen?)

Skinnomi is almost the same as Zagg.. same material
But it doesn't have the sticky/tacky feeling like Zagg and my pen is working nicely.
I don't know if Jetstream has gorilla glass or not.. but I don't think gorilla glass are "unscratchable". They are just more durable and doesn't shatter into small pieces when breaks.

(q) Are screen protectors necessary when you have gorilla glass?

I ordered screen protectors, however I heard they're not necessary when one has gorilla glass.
It really depends how hard you are on things. Gorilla glass is not indestructable. But then screen protectors were born of a day and age where screens were plastic. Your BB or other candy bar phone had a clear plastic housing the covered the LCD - dropping your phone could ruin your view. And PDAs used styli on resistive touchscreens (plastic) one burr on your stylus and your screen was ruined.
I have never used a screen protector on any glass screen and never had a problem.
Gorilla glass is really tough and i don't believe in screen protectors - but i can't guarantee that you can't scratch it if you routinely keep your phone in a bag of nails while running in the Dakar Rally.

That was hilarious, I'll try not to keep in a bag of nails hahahaha! thanks for your insight.
gorrila glass is made to be stronger than normal glass but is by no means scratch proof, you may not get deep gashes but you can still get hairline scratches which for me are just as annoying.
Yeah im going to have to disagree
Im a mechanic and I used to have a nexus one with a thick screen protector on it. During a one year period I have dropped it kept nuts and bolts in my pocket keys etc. When it came time to sell my phone all I did was peel off the protector and the screen was mint.
On a second note I now have a dell streak and when I dropped it from waist heightand the screen shattered. Not to say a screen protector would have saved it, But It does add some extra protection, especially the thicker protectors. So ... Why not put one on.
Just really depends on you honestly. I've been using an iPhone4 since it came out last year, and never had a screen protector on the front or back. The device is still flawless, I just don't put it with my keys and I try not to lay it on surfaces that are really abrasive. I'd just toss a case on the back and leave the screen naked, it tends to feel and look so much better, especially with high-res screens.

Yes. It does.
Yep... says it on Motorola's website for the Atrix that it uses gorilla glass. And as with the previous poster, i too have had an iPhone 4 since it was launched, and have never had a screen protector on the front. And like him, i don't put my phone in my pocket with anything else. I have my right pocket for money/change/keys/etc... and my left pocket for my phone.

+1 Same here, but with an aging Iphone 3gs, no protector, got no scratches. But it does suck having all that crap in the right pocket.
I have a nexus one. My job puts my phone through hell simply put. To the point where I have destroyed the cover and screen protector. Now I have chips out of my phone's shell but the screen remains in perfect condition(w/o a screen protector for 6 months of solid abuse.)
So, unless you plan on keeping sharp enough objects to damage this screen in you pocket, if you did those would be some holey pockets and legs, I would just keep the money.

I use them only because i get severely pissed off when my screen is smudged to hell from my fingers. The AT&T sold screen protectors, while generally being absolute crap that don't last more than 2 weeks, do an awesome job of hiding fingerprints. The ghost armor i had on my Aria was also good in this regard. I might go that route simply to alleviate fingerprints.
If you opt for the higher-end protectors (Zagg InvisibleShield, Skinomi Techskin, etc) and know how to properly apply them, it improves the look and feel. I use them primarily because they reduce glare and they're smudge resistant, but having the extra protection is a bonus, but I don't put my phone in the same pocket as my keys.

thats really the only reason i use the screen protectors. I prefer them because they reduce the smudging and fingerprints on the screen.
Naugh; I have had my captivate for about 6 months now and no screen protector, no case for that matter either.
The phone has scuffs and dents galore, but the screen is flawless and it goes everywhere with me.

I always put a screen protector on my phones because no matter how scratch resistant they say the glass is, it always scratches. You can always get the regular screen protector and not the anti-glare so that you can maintain the same feel similar to the natural screen.

its like using birth control pills and condoms. It cant hurt.
I mainly used screen protectors for the finger prints and grease on screen issue. Just as others mentioned earlier though, guerrilla glass is far from indestructible, dropped my nexus one on concrete (maybe a foot drop) and it put a really bad scratch in my screen.

Well to start with the Atrix uses a newer concoction of Gorilla Glass. Corning was saying they developed a new Gorilla Glass around December of last year, IIRC. I know the Atrix was one of the models it was being implemented in.
Aside from that...I've already put on a protector. I like to put anti-glare/anti-fingerprint protectors on all my touchscreen devices. It decreases the screen clarity slightly, but it helps to eliminate fingerprints and, more importantly, reduces drag from your finger. Especially if you have any sweat or moisture on your fingers it can really help to reduce the drag. Feels smoother.
The Following current phones and tablets below all have gorilla glass. I have already seen the Samsung Galaxy Tab glass screen with major scratches after a customer dropped it onto the pavement landing face down. Did not crack or break... but the scratches were bad. Same thing can happen to the Atrix so I would definitely consider getting a screen protector. Most of them cheap or not are usually effective.

[Q] Screen Protector? Or No?

I've seen info about screen protectors...But no opinions really on if one is necessary.
If I were to get one, I think I'd look for a matte one that helped emulate the feel of writing on paper better. I hope it would be better than a normal glossy protector at least...
Anyway, do I need a screen protector? With the gorilla glass and all? A few days of usage and I see no scratches, so I don't know.
I did read the thread about someone chipping their glass which made me worry.
Thanks!
Compared to the cost of the flyer the cost of a screen protector is negligible. Why wouldn't you get one just for extra protection in case you drop the flyer face down or something like that?
Sent from my HTC Flyer P510e using XDA Premium App
not gorilla glass.
I don't think our flyer is a gorilla glass. just so you know it will scratch,it all depends on when and where. Mine was with the back on the scribe pen. I recommend the matte screen, save yourself the grief.
Do it, the sceen scratches, trust me I know.
I have a matte screen, and love it
Sent from my HTC Flyer P510e using XDA Premium App
I wouldn't worry too much about the scratching. On every device I've had since the original iphone I had no screen protector, and never got a (noticeable) scratch.
BUT
I went to the mall the other day and they had some scammy dudes "installing" screen protectors. Theyd idn't have an view/flyer screen shape, but they put a glaxy tab one on that fit pretty well, and promised me that when they did get the flyer/view screen size the would put that one for no extra charge.
Anyway, I'm in love. It fits on PERFECT because I think they are shrink wrapping it on or something, but it actually makes the stylus USEABLE. It offers a little resistance so it is not like writing on ICE anymore. I love it.
Also, it stays smooth even after I grease it up with my hands. On the bare screen I would always have to wipe it away with my shirt to get a smooth feel.
I'm really enamored wtih the process. The one caveate is I think it voids your warrantee because they get the whole device wet and it might look like you have water damage. This is what my friend was telling me.

Atrix, zagg shield or not?

HI,

For one, if you wanted to spend over $100 you could get a new glass screen and get it installed somehow. As far as getting protection then, I fully recommend it. Gorilla glass is NOT AT ALL as good as they say it is. My phone doesn't come into contact with razor blades and other crap it says it stands up against, but it does come in contact with minor pieces of lint in my pocket which somehow scratched this "impervious" screen...
As far as what type of protector...I didn't like Zagg or Ghost Armor or any of those stupid things. More expensive, more hassle than they're worth. I got I think a Splash Masque screen protector off Amazon or something. Something like that should do the trick. Not too hard to install w/o bubbles and I can't really tell it's there (feels normal, fits just fine).
zagg scratch guards are pathetic to use.
all rubbery feel with no smoothness unless you lube it
overpriced stuff that you cant through off because you overspent kind of feeling ..
get cheap clear screen protectors.. cost $2-5 over ebay for pack of 10 or something
I agree with the other two. Don't get a Zagg. I am currently using one and regret it. When I slide my finger to scroll or to play games, sad enough sometimes my fingers don't slide as smooth as opposed to some other screen protectors. Although I would say that it has saved my screen a couple of times. If your willing to spend the money on a Zagg and idk what your budget is like you could try out the otter box Commuter. Its isn't that bulky in my opinion and has a pretty good screen protector on it, with the bonus of protecting the phone itself.

I used a bodyguardz but didn't really like the feel of it and the proximity sensor wouldn't work right. Order some other cheap one off Amazon which feels a lot better but the proximity sensor still doesn't work right with it.
I can deal with the proximity sensor issue more than I could put up with a scratch in on my screen. Not sure if the zaggs interfere with the proximity sensor or not.

I use Zagg full body coverage, and I'm very happy with it. Yes, it feels rubbery.
But I'm looking the Splash Masque stuff, it's good to know a second opinion
I picked one up on Amazon called
Motorola Atrix 4G Crystal Clear Premium Screen Protector 2 Pack by REALOOK (AT&T)
I can't link since I'm a noobie poster. It's slightly spendy at 10.99 but has been great for me so far. Easy to put on with no bubbles, doesn't effect the usability of the screen either. By far the best screen protector I've used when compared to a few I've had on my iPhones.

Don't go the Zagg route.
First the invisible shields are a true PITA to install! (trust me it's a lot harder than a normal screen protector)
Second even if you get it installed correctly it feels rubbery weird.
Just go with the clear screen protector cheapies on eBay, and either a leather holster or a TPU clear case (depending if you pocket or not) and you'll be fine...
Im a huge fan of ghost armor. I like the look and feel of it. Yeah it sucks do pay $20 for the initial screen and service, but its $5 bucks after to replace it forever.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I went with Zagg myself, went in to the local store had them install it for 10 bucks. Just got it replaced, it does have a sort of grip to it on the screen that you have to get use to. Overall all I'm happy with the protection it's given my phone, usually after a couple months I'll start seeing scratches and stuff, I'm a little disappointed that I had to take it in to get the shield replaced today, but it was free save for the installation free so I'd say it was definitely a good investment for my device.

[Q] InvisibleSHIELD and PET screen protector from case

My case has a built in PET screen protector but there are times when my case is to bulky. Like it can be hard to slide in and out of my pocket at school and stuff. So I will take it out of the case for school. Sometimes my fingers will catch on the unprotected screen. I am wondering if I can put a full body invisibleSHIELD on it and have it still work inside the case. Will it make my case not fit and will the double screen protector make my screen not be touchable through the dual layers?
Oh and I have a Trident case, the Kraken Series.
yes it works
To be perfectly honest with you screen protectors are not needed on DROID phones. They have special glass (tempered or something like that).
For example, last week I dropped my phone on my driveway (pavement) while it was raining mind you, it landed screen first and slid a good 6 inches. There are some scratches on the metal frame surrounding the screen, but the screen itself doesn't have a single scratch on it!

I use ghost armor on my screen, and yes it's not really needed, but the product is good enough that it's oil resistant and super easy to just wipe clean. Your fingers just glide across it much easier than with nothing.
Check out http://www.bestskinsever.com/. Half the price of Invisible Shield and just as good. I've used BSE skins on every device I've owned over the past few years and I've been 100% satisfied. The skins don't come in a fancy box with a fancy little spray bottle of soapy water. They just come in a normal envelope and you have to make you own solution.
Gorilla glass is amazing stuff but it's not invincible. I have no idea how it happened, but I now have a nice, deep scratch on my screen. Now I wish I had been using a screen protector.
I had a left over screen protector from invisishield when I bought a pack of three universal screen protectors and I made my own solution but those full body BSE protectors look pretty good.

SGP screen protector

I'm using an SGP screen protector on my og incredible and love it. It looks like they dont have one for the inc 4g yet. I emailed them and they said "As of now, we don't have any definite plans to make screen protectors for the HTC increidible 4g LTE. However, if there is increased interest from our customers, we may change our production plans in the future"
That doesnt sound good. in the mean time, I'd like to use something. I'm thinking of getting a screen for a different phone, whatever is closest and using that. Any suggestions for which phone?
I am using a skinomi screen and body protector and its really nice and easy to install. I love it because it feels like there is nothing there and the touch screen is still very responsive.

Once I put on $0.99 screen protector from eBay and I peeled off screen protective film? thingy, which covers both front and back of screen protector. After I peeled off that plastic thingy, it was very clear almost unnoticeable. I thought it was so nice for 99 cents, In fact, there was no screen protector. It was two piece of screen protective films putting together. That was the clearest screen protector that I've bought.
