Usb host mode needed = USB host mode not supported = USB camera impossible
This will never happen with our current kernels, tha host mode is not supported nor can i see it ever being
I don't think so it would be possible for installing the second camera there would be no supporting for the content.

Saw a new app to tether your Canon camera to your phone instead of a computer.. Gives you all the controls like when you tether to your PC, but on the phone, still in beta, and only tested on xoom and sgs2.. but i saw that the phone needs USB host support for it to work.
Is this something the Atrix can have with the roms now?
This would be sweet!
yes. in order to use USB host you just need to provide 5V DC to the device which the Atrix's usb port doesnt do. you will need to use a powered USB hub. check out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=997187
drivers will probably be an issue though

That does sound sweet Shriva! What's the name of the app and if it was not in the general app market where was it?
Thanks,
Bill
Atrix 4d and 2 support USB host mode when you use OTG cable and provide power (you can use mouse, keybaord storage etc.).
But it does not support Androi API support for USB host mode. Which means Apps won't detect any device thus DSLR camera control apps don't work. Maybe with update to ICS it will be supported.
Hi everyone,
I am trying to connect a Head Mounted Display to my Galaxy SII and am able to connect it using a Micro USB to VGA MHL Adapter. I can look at the screen output ,gallery and other apps but I cannot use the Camera app.
I was wondering if there is ANY possible way (custom Rom,override some kernel file etc ) by which I can use the Camera app while showing the HDMI output ? .I was thinking of using 3rd Party Bluetooth cameras like Looxcie but it seems they dont provide any API . Another option would be to connect and external usb webcam through the adapter,But i am not sure whether I would be able to compile/find the appropriate drivers and whether i could access the camera from the Android SDK.
ANY pointers/tips/suggestions would be really appreciated
Thanks !
Try with 3rd party camera app, like lgCamera.
Has any one tried a custom usb adapter to connect a usb web cam and test if it works? Skype video calling is where I'm getting at.

not sure if its possible right now. i don't even think usb otg works currently. we gotta get that working first. the other problem is if the usb port on the NT has enough power for the webcam.
Only if this work on the NT

Hi there,
I got a S2 but after it fell, the screen doesn't work. The first thing I thought was that the LCD was dead, so I put a new front assembly on the phone, but it still doesn't work (and there is nothing wrong with this screen, because it works in a other S2).
So my question is, is there a possibility to connect the phone to the computer and see the screen of the S2 on my computer?
Hope you can help me.
thanks in advance!

Hi just wondering has anyone got a usb camera to work with their j3? I've tried an "endoscope" usb camera and a regular usb webcam with an otg cable but neither work. With any app i've tried the camera is detected when I plug it in but either the app then crashes or just displays a blank screen. This is with stock firmware.

Old thread, but for others nowadays, my answer is that you must make sure the app supports the camera.
For years I've been using this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=infinitegra.app.usbcamera&hl=sv
and it supports at least Logitech C270.
Recently I discovered that the app also supports a cheap videograbber usb stick, meaning I can get my old Olympus OM-D E-M5 connected to a big tablet and see the live screen there.
Haven't tried the app with an endoscope.
The app + C270 have worked on a Galaxy Tab 2 with stock firmware 4.1.2, but also some higher custom ROMs.
And a stock Galaxy Tab A (2016) running Oreo.
and just now I tested it on 2 devices, my stock J4+ with Pie and my stock J5 (2015) Marshmallow.
Edit:
I got curious and dug out an old long silvergray SuperEyes endoscope, only tried it on the J5, but above app supports it.
At the same time I found a small black cylindrical inspection camera with 2 meter cord. Above app supports that too
