Hi all,
like many I've seen in here, I love the features and designs of the custom ROMS, but there are a few apps from SE which we like to keep. The thing is, if I copy and paste them into system/app and set permissions, the apps still don't work, they force quit. What do you do to make them work? E.g. original calendar, alarm etc.? do you need to copy SE settings.apk or something else?
Thanks
You cant install them because those apps are not compatible with custom roms

Huh? I've read some people say here that they've installed some original SE apps like alarm etc.
Also, I have successfully installed the newest version of the phonebook and dialer and the original camera - they're really nice.
But I can't install the others - I especially want the original alarm, calendar (the SE one doesn't require internet, it is ABSURD to require a connected account and internet for a quick look at a calendar, and I do not want or need appointments in my phone), notes etc.
What rom do you use?

I've been using GingerDXv15 but just installed MiniCM2.1. Again, the camera and phonebook from newer SE roms are working fine in both...but the rest of the apps, no.
From newer SE roms, not from SE 2..1
Sent from my X10mini using XDA App
Umm
Camera - SE 2.1
Phonebook - SE 2.3
It is because standard apps require stuff from SE framework. Custom Roms use CM framework.
You would need to either modify the app or the framework to fix dependencies.

Could you please provide me the link of apps? I also want to have stock camera.
Sent from my X10mini using XDA App
Hi, the camera doesn't work in every ROM but I'm currently test MiniCM and it definitely works, in fact, the newer framework (ArcMini theme) makes it better than it did in stock 2.1 if you ask me.
So copy it to system/app using Root Explorer with these permissions:
x x
x
x
For MiniCM, there is the stock Android camera in there, I just left that there (for the video) because the stock camera doesn't use the video, it closes the app. I use the same permissions with the phonebook.
P.s. these mods of apps are not of my creation, thank you to those who provided them (I collected them a long time ago on here). Thank you!

I have pulled the LG launcher from Stock 2.1 and de-odexed it for use with ROMs such as SOFT-MOD 2.1, Quarx and EleganceSwift. This MUST be used as a system app, otherwise you will encounter FCs on launch. Remember to put this .apk in /system/app and set the following permissions:
User: Read Write
Group: Read
Others: Read
And then reboot your phone, you should be greeted with the home selection screen.
Known bugs:
The launcher FCs on Android 2.3
When the "LG Home" wallpaper category is selected, the launcher also FCs.

If these hashes don't match the file you downloaded, re-download the file!
NOTE: This is not tested nor designed for 2.2/2.3 roms, so you may encounter FCs and random system hangs.

I wonder, if the launcher requires lge-res.apk, would the lge-res.apk work on 2.3?
I need to play around with this. Also, on 2.1 when you choose the "LG Home" wallpapers the launcher crashes.
Jack
i dont think so because i download the lg-res.apk awhile ago and still got fc's it probably something silly like a xml file need tweaked are something
Heyho guuuys =3
I've made a thread like this but lets talk here, does any of you think they can do it?

Anyone has the original apps for Contacts/Dialer/Recent Calls, Messaging. I have installed GingerDX but I didn't like the GDX version of those apps.
If someone who doesn't have the x8 customized and could upload those, I would really appreciate it.

Apply a SE-theme in theme chooser, it should also give you SE-themed versions of those apps

No, because it wont work. Instead if you are using GDX theres a update zip in first post which includes SE Arcs timescape. Also you can flash Gingercruzt which has pretty nice SE theme and some SE apps.

For some Odd reasons, the New SE launchers doesn't works with the MIUI. I have tested several, and almost every one crashes (If anybody have a new working one, please let me know! )
If you want, i have the APK of the Old Launcher. PM me and i will zip it to send for you.

The calendar is S-Planner!
He probably is looking for the widgets it came with most ics roms don't have them

I too am using a custom ROM that does not have the S Planner. Is there an apk for the S Planner found on the Stock Note ROMS?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
No on some of the custom roms its not using touchwiz which is only the one that uses it
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Unless you are running touch wiz, you cannot use S Apps because they require the framework from touch wiz to work.
The same for widgets, if you run any other launcher you will lose the widgets for the S Apps until you revert back.
Maybe I'm losing my mind (or I've been up for 24 hours straight ) but if TW libs and framework is truly added to CM9/10-based ROMs as mentioned here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1876019
Then why doesn't a simple push of the SIMPlanner.apk, SIMPlannerProvider, and SPlannerAppWidget to /system/app (with appropriate permission changes, of course) work?
I flashed & have TW on my Note which BTW is currently running Collective's CP3, and the Weather Widget works just fine... but I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around why the rest of the Samsung apps that seem to rely on TW framework won't work, especially if by the weather widget working, the framework is installed and obviously working on CM10 (which some other posts seem to say won't work) ?

Requests don't go in the Development section but in the Themes and Apps section. I already asked to have that conversations app ported but it's not as easy as it seems apparently. As for the keyboard, i use the Xperia S keyboard which is working great on GB and JB.

Yes, the Xperia S does T9 style too, with multi-language suggestions, and quite well too, but only in portrait-mode i think.
In landscape mode it goes into qwerty style with swipe typing. I use my keyboard in portrait mode the most anyway, so it's good for me
I hope you manage to port the conversations app, it's one of the best ones out there.
(Not to mention: the Calendar app and Calendar-provider are pretty awesome too, it just works without having to log in somewhere to get it going the first time)
