Hello. I've updated my OS to Gingerbread and after 2-3 days, my ringtones doesn't play for known contact. If a unknown number is calling, the ringtone play, but if i have the number in my contact list, the ringtone doesn't play. I've performed a hard reset, but after two days, the same. I didn't install any applications because i've wanted to know if a application cause this issue. I;ve tried with custom ringtones and the default ringtones, but useless. Does anyone knows what to do? Or anyone encounter this issue and resolve it? Thank you.

I've got a Hero on Orange which came with the latest ROM and other than installing some apps from the market I haven't fiddled with it.
So then, I want to assign a different ringtone to certain contacts so that I know whether to run to answer it or not. I've tried it through the contact card and through Ringdroid and it doesn't seem to take. I'm using one of the builtin ringtones rather than one I've made through Ringdroid and it doesn't work.
Any ideas??

I´m writting you to ask for help for a ancient problem I have with WM (since I had a Touch HD). I use a lot the calendar function and also the reminders.
But, I´m facing a terrible problem: the phone is not showing the notifications anymore. The curious part is that if I set a Task, the phone wakes up and rings. But if it´s an appointment, it doesn´t wake up nor even show any notification icons or sounds. I have lost some appointments due this.
I have set all settings to play sounds; hard reseted the phone and installed the programs I most use and tested to see if would play the sound and the notification. After one week of "stability" (I mean, the phone was giving me the notifications and I didn´t install any programs), it stopped again to show APPOINTMENTS reminders.
Has anyone faced this problem? Do you know a solution to this? I have an HD2 with stock T-mobile ROM.

You need to check your notification queue.
There are tools that clean it up. I think SKTools have this functionality.

I just bought my first smartphone (Droid X2) yesterday and I seem to be encountering some issues regarding two apps and their notification sounds. The Facebook App for Android installs a notification sound file called facebook_ringtone_pop.m4a but it does not play any sound when I click on the actual file through the phone, nor if I select "Facebook Pop" within the menus. I plugged my phone into the computer and played the file there and I was able to hear the sound.
I have the same problem with the IMO instant messenger notification where there is not an actual file installed, yet nothing is played when I receive an incoming message.
For either apps, if I choose one of the pre-installed ringtones, they work. I have already tried factory resetting the phone (twice), replacing the file, nothing works.
Wondering if anybody knows how to fix this. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.
OK, I have searched high and low for anyone having this issue, and have found a few posts that are similar to the problem I am experiencing but not quite the answer I am looking for.
I am a happy Galaxy Note owner, who did the upgrade to ICS through my carrier, which is Rogers, up here in Canada. I am having issues with my ringtones. It appears I cannot switch my ringtone for individual contacts, after installing the update. I am able to choose my ringtone in the contact menu with no problem, but for some reason, it reverts back to the main/default ringtone I have chosen as a general ringer. I am able to change out the ringtone for the phone itself, with either the preinstalled tones, or tones that I have installed manually, I just can't get them to work for individual contacts. Everything was working fine while I was on GB, but no dice on ICS. Anyone have any ideas? I've tried changing the tones to different folders and such, and the ringtones I want are showing up in the ringtone menu but will not take effect, even after a reboot. Any suggestins would be appreciated.

stock Contact app?
A friend of mine had the same problem and we found they were using an alternative Contacts app that didn't work. Are you using the stock contact app to assign the ringtones?

Yes, I'm using the stock contacts app. I've tried everything, but I may have sorted it out. It looks like there is something wrong when u do it by the contact menu. I seem to have one working now, but haven't had any phone calls since. I had to manually add it to the media>audio> notifications folder. I hope it works, I should know tomorrow!
Hey all. Just noticed that all my ringtones I set for specific contacts are not working. When they call my default ringtone plays. I've already tried using all the custom ringtones set as default ringtone with no problem and there doesn't seem to be any issues with the file names or types.
Anyone else having problems with this or mind giving it a shot to see if its not just me. Thanks
