[Q] Wifi remote control - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

There are lots of Wifi Remote control in the market but those i found like Phonemypc, Remote RDP, Crazy Remote, Wyse Pocketcloud all requires internet connection alongside the wifi and the software installed on the computer..
is there any wifi remote control that doesnt require a internet connection. I am ok with installing the software. Since it is a wifi remote, it has to be almost real time control with options to see videos as well..

doesn't requireinternet connection? can you explain it more detailed? so just a network connection?
your router handle that itselfs so you don't have a real internet connection, when you want to connect to a net intern ip
you can also try gmote and vnc
gmote is more like a real remote you can handle keyboard and mouse, even start music or videos on your computer directly and control it with gmote
vnc streams your monitor screen to your android and you can also handle mouse and keyboard

could th wizard be used as a remote input device?

I have bought a sff pc and have set it up behind the tv to dowloand and then playback torrents. currently i am using a clunky line of site ir keyboard and thought today would i be able to use the keyboard on the wizard via bluetooth to connect?
any thoughts or suggestions as to software that exists for this purpose?
o/s is win 2000
thanks
You could remote desktop over WiFi, doesn't even need line of sight that way!
didnt even think of that, all i need to do is look at the big screen as opposed to the little one
what rdp software would anyone recommend for this task ?
Z2 R2PC from Z2 Software seems to work well.
Looks interesting, any free alternatives?
Had a go with logmein and when watching video the playback stutters due to the connection.
Can anyone suggest anything else please.
Remote Connection Software
You can try MyMobile. It software that runs on your PC and you can bring up the screen and use you mouse as a stylus. It works great. The only drawback I found is when you use it and a bluetooth headset, the headset sounds garbled. You also need to establish an Active Sync connection with the PPC and the PC.
Just goto www.mymobiler.com to download it.

Q: Is there a way to Android to Android tether or have navtive bluetooth DUN?

I have Parrot Asteroid in my car as of last night and i am looking for a way to share internet with it. Apparently it supports bluetooth DUN via cell phones but as far as i know the SGS2 doesn't support DUN. I have tried wifi tether for root to test but i get an error on the device. Ideally i would like to have Native DUN support for the SGS2 so when it connects via bluetooth for the voice and media it will start sharing internet without any application startup.
Also an alternative method would be USB internet sharing between the android device. This will be beneficial as it would charge the phone too. I know this is supported to a windows machine but another android device?

So what can I do with WiFi Direct?

Ok, so now that I have WiFi direct on my Tab, what can I actually do with it?
Can I connect to my Laptop and browse files
I have enabled it on the Prime, but I don't know what to do next?
Cheers

" According to the Wi-Fi Alliance, Wi-Fi Direct "is a certification mark for devices supporting a game-changing new technology enabling Wi-Fi devices to connect directly, making it simple and convenient to do things like print, share, synch and display. Products bearing the Wi-Fi Direct certification mark can connect to one another without joining a traditional home, office or hotspot network."
Essentially, WiFi Direct adds a virtual access point to a device bearing that certification, complete with a version of Wi-Fi Protected Setup for easy connections. When a WiFi enabled device comes under the umbrella of a WiFi Direct "host" the "client" can connect to the "host" through the existing ad-hoc protocol, gather setup information using a Protected Setup-style transfer, then allow the two devices to connect. So easy is the WiFi direct setup, some have suggested it could replace Bluetooth in some situations"
" What can a WiFi Direct "host" do?
A digital picture frame could allow digital cameras to connect and upload images.
A camera or smartphone could wirelessly connect to a photo kiosk to print high-quality analog prints of your digital pictures, without using an sdcard or cable.
A smartphone with data tethering could function more as a bridge or router (with more complex functions than simple tethering).
Smartphones and tablets could transfer files to one another (even large ones) quicker than over Bluetooth.
WiFi Direct devices can even connect one-to-one or one-to-many, and only one of those devices needs to be enabled for WiFi Direct -- all the others just need basic WiFi capabilities.
Combine all that with DNLA (and no longer needing a router for DNLA streaming) and you can see how convenient and downright cool streaming a HD video directly from your smartphone to a DLNA-enabled TV could be -- all without wires"

I really hope this does be enabled. A game changer for sure!
Cheers demandarin!
I am guessing that there is a youtube video on the post too (blocked on work connection)?
So is there nothing I can really do at the moment? I turn it on, but it doesn't broadcast a Wireless network or anything?

[Q] How to control android devices from PC?

Before anyone answer without reading, Im looking for an app that can remote control my phone from my pc without streaming the screen.
I have an Xperia that connects to my TV via HDMI & I don't have any wireless mouse/keyboard. So I need a way to control it from my PC with a decent speed. I just need basic nagivation buttons, home/menu/back or mouse support if possible...
Anyone can suggest me some apps?
Nvm... After a full day googling, I just found a perfect solution

roku stick wifi direct remote control app ?? remote broken need alternative
hi everyone,
is there any apps I can use on my android phone to control my roku stick? I am suprised I can not find any wifi direct remote from the app store.
I can join roku wifi direct ssid network but no apps will talk to t he roku stick on the roku wifi direct ssid network.
my roku is not connected any longer to my home network so it not working.
Throw up a wifi Hotspot from your phone and then use the official roku app.

you have to connect to the roku first with a remote to set it to join any ssid wifi network first. It does not autojoin.
The stupid roku stick has no capabilities to work with a IR roku remote. So that is why I can not talk to it to get it to join a new wifi network. I heard it only has wifi direct capabilities.
I can join the roku wifi direct ssid network but the roku has no valid roku player ip to connect to. I tried connecting to the roku stick dchp server address but the apps all said it was not a valid roku.
I think t he DCHP roku server address might work if i could force a roku remote app to accept it and try to send signals to it. But the roku remote apps will not accept the invalid roku dchp ip address. so i cant try it.
windows pc can join the roku wifi direct ssid without a password if you wait for it. then u can get the password and login with an android phone but it wont work still. no valid roku player ip to connect o
Hi noobiedev,
I have the same issue. I could not pair my remote anymore and resetting stickclear all settings.
Did you find any solution ?
roku stick remote solution
If you can remember the SSID and password that you previously programmed the roku to log in to, then create a hotspot on your phone with the same values... then the roku will connect to it .. then you will need to search around for a remote app that will function correctly... most will complain that there is no wifi connection, and/or you may have to change your default route so when it scans the network it goes to the right interface.. it will take some doing... but it can be done
Thanks!!!
I joined XDA just to say thanks... It worked for me
