Motorola ATRIX 4g roms - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was just trying to get some good suggestions on which rims are good to use with my Motorola ATRIX
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App

They are all great and stable. Read through the DEV section and do some research. Find one that suits your needs, then flash away. Just make sure you are unlocked and using the correct recovery. Good luck!

ROMs are like pokemons - you need to try them all yourself.

This is no diss to the developers because I very much appreciate their work!
And I haven't tried all the ROMs
Still, for my suite of apps, for the smoothest and most reliable op of the phone and for the longest battery life..I am back to stock. I have frozen apps, I am running the .97 radio (which has made a huge difference to me in reliability and throughput) but I am stock. Mainly, I had issue with the various incarnations of the Faux kernel and always wound up with lost widgets (I like my widgets I tried all the suggestions and still, at some point I would lose widgets with the kernel. Since this is the basis of most ROMs that did it for me (and it has to be the kernel since I had the problem on the stock ROM with the kernel).
Good luck...it is easy to go back to stock if you don't like the various ROMs.
I intend to try CM7 later on when the Faux kernel and the integration with Setcpu (both cores) is resolved and CM7 has webtop integration (I use the lapdock every day).

I've used a few of the ROM's out there and right now I am on HomeBase version 2 with Faux's latest kernel. I will say that the version of HomeBase is pretty close to stock but it has a bunch of enhancements (zipalign, memory tweaks, etc). My suggestion is to get to flashing and see what suits you. What I like you may hate. CM7 is worth a try as well and I may switch over when it become official (or I may wait for MIUI).
As for the widget issue...fix permissions fixed it for me, hundreds of restarts and I still have my widgets.
You should check out the dev section...good ROM's and good reading!!!

I recommend 22 inch chrome rims depending on what you like.
If you are looking form suggestions for ROMs I'd suggest CM7.

Question for the thunderbolt community

Hey everyone, I am going to be trading some services (a mechanic is doing my breaks in exchange for me rooting and custom romming his lady's phone) and would like to know what your opinion is on the best thunderbolt ROMs available? She is currently on stock software and hates absolutely everything about her phone and how it behaves.
What would you guys recommend? I'm looking for functionality, reliability, battery life and the smallest amount of software bugs as possible.
Tweaked stock ROMs? AOSP? CM7 or 9? I know nothing about the thunderbolt community and would greatly appreciate any info you can give me.
Thank you everyone

Leaving it on a stock rom unless you plan on maintaining the rom for her..If she has no idea what shes doing then dont cause a headache for yourself, with techs its nothing to change out a rom, or if it gets buggy, well you get the point... the best thing would be a factory reset, or check the memory on the phone she prob has to many apps, install the apps from the sd card to free up the memory cuz im on a stock rom and its way fast, great battery, most of all the battery issues are from apps..just trying to save you a down the road..
I would go to the dev section of this forum and look at the ROMs and see what catches your eyes its opinion over opinion when saying stock is better than custom tons, I myself like custom roms because you can choose a wide variety of tweaks etc etc

LiquidRom 3.2 and use Rom Tool box built in to download pink theme, use built in theme chooser and apply theme, the get a pink keyboard skin and appy. Btw you can customize splash screen and bootanimation to her liking with Rom Tool box too. No bugs for me.

You want no problems use zues.

Definitely a stock based ROM, like Zues. AOSP's battery life isn't as good as Sense (to no fault of the amazing devs of course).
I also suggest Imoyeson's leankernel 5.1.0GB in battsaver mode. Amazing performace with amazing battery life.
I also recommend Zues. ran it for a month straight no problems. only switched roms to see what else is out there
BAMF 1.11 with kernel+++ and turn off task manager at startup. Since I've installed the latest version of BAMF I've had zero fcs, great battery life and good speed. I'm a tech all day long with Windows PC and understand little about behind tor scene android functions. BAMF seems most reliable and low maintenance. Remember every phone responds different to the same os. It's just like gas every kia responds different to bp gas.

Most stable rom?

I just ordered an Amaze for $250 and I am pretty stocked, coming from the mytouch 4g. I noticed that a lot of the roms appear to not have data working. Is there a complete ics rom you would recommend to flash for the first rom? Also how is stock ics rom?
Sent from my Dark Unicorn Resurrected v.2.5 using xda premium
Stock rooted most stable and is the best rom for this phone imo. ARHD was my favorite deodexed.
If you want mods and a different aosp look.. you can do all that yourself on one of the two above with flashable mods and nova launcher.
Its probably best to read up on all of the ROMs and try them yourself to make your own judgement. This thread will just lead to a few devs shouting out their own roms and their fans following close behind. I know this because this isnt the first time a thread like this has appeared. Im sure u searched before posting though so no worries

I agree with GG
go stock rooted, or ARHD. The phone on ics is pretty darn fast

I've never really had any issues with ARHD and would suggest it.
I cant wait to get this phone. It is miles ahead of the Mytouch 4G yes I will read up and research and ask questions if A) can't find something or more likely don't understand what is being explained. Any gingerbread roms worthy enough to look at?

For ICS, I'd suggest ARHD (as previously posted). However, for Gingerbread, I'd suggest BulletProof. BulletProof is what I was running prior to migrating to ICS.
Thanks everyone I would definitely flash ARHD first that is after I get a feel for stock rom. I also found the the Amazing guide stickied on the dev section to really nice. I hope to see it explode pretty soon

I tried most if not all ROMs. If you want ICS I say go with NRGs stock Rom with faux new kernel. Been my daily driver for a few months now except the kernel that just dropped. If your gonna be on GB then I also 2nd Bulletproof.
Patiently waiting for some CM9 or 10. Which looks like we'll probably have by August, September.
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda premium
Whether you use energy with or without stock look, it is the rom I keep going to.. I never have issues with it. I debloat the hell out of it mind you, I don't leave rosie or any other sense feature, but as far as stability, battery, etc is concerned, it is my default rom of choice, and I have tried them all pretty extensively.
If you get the latest build you have to make sure to increase the minimum clock speed to 384 which just requires two little edits in the init.post_boot.sh file in the system/etc directory.
And despite what GG said, even tho I love him(no homo), I am not a fanboy by any means..
I use hd revolution on sensation and amaze. On amaze, it will give you out of box ui but in back processes, lot of optimization were made.
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda premium
Used ARHD when I had my amaze 4g and never used anything else, that was when it only had GB though, now that I got a GNex, I'm still using ARHD, one of the best Roms out there, no problems whatsoever, stable, and Mike is an all around great guy who puts much care into his Roms. (Not to say that others don't, I've used so many Roms its unbelievable, just like everyone else, and all devs are AWESOME!!!)

My word isn't really needed at this point, but **** it - Android Revolution HD (ARHD), just like the others have said.
Trewyy
Engery Rom is thee best choice
Energy Rom is the best in my opinion. I tried both clean rom and ADRHD or whatever it is call. I like Energy because it is Stable. Battery life to me is awesome, especially when I use my hotspot, Bluetooth and playing Poweramp plus I do play games and etc... Anyways that what I would recommend. Personally choose whatever fits your needs and do not go based off what we say. Remember the most popular rom for the Amaze may not be the best or work for your phone. Not all phones are created the same.

Stable, clean, great battery life and fully working. :good:

Looking for simple ROM with minor OS tuneup and debloat

Looked through available ROMS, did a keyword search, read the "New to the thunderbolt? Look here before posting":
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1168433
And read the dictionary (albeit got up to G'ish):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1143188
I had a rooted and ROM'd Galaxy Nexus (that was stolen without insurance) and finally got my perm replacement, the Thunderbolt. First things first I noticed tons of bloatware, most of which can't be removed. i.e. Blockbuster, Google Talk, etc. I essentially was hoping to just have a bare bones Android OS. If I can get it on the Market / App store, then I really don't want it on there. Google Talk is throwing sign in errors (even though I'm properly linked to my gmail account) Facebook won't even download without an "unsuccessfully" installed error every time, and I'd like to tether using PDANet. Really just want to use the basics of the phone - but was hoping to just find a debloated copy of Gingerbread. Maybe a few tweaks here and there to speed things up, and something to increase the battery life(from what I hear the batt life is already atrocious) Anyone by chance aware of a ROM that simple that I haven't been able to find? :good:
Jellyblur is very good. Killasense .9 not .19, has been great, skyraider is very good also. Because of the nature of our radio, aosp is tricky. A desensed rom may be ur best bet. Several out there, bully desensed probably my favorite. U can still use a sense kernel on it, imo 5.2 is the best.

'preciate!
Hope I'm not thread jacking but I have a similar question:
My brother picked up a second hand thunderbolt that was rooted and he is having stability issues with the current ROM. I don't have a thunderbolt so I don't know what ROMs to flash for him unfortunately.
He just needs a ROM where speed and stability are critical and everything will work out of the box, including GPS and LTE. Debloat and desense are not that important.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

[Q] best ICS or JB ROM?

Hey guys, I'm working a lot of hours and I need to have a reliable phone, which ICS or JB ROM is best? I'm new to this phone, so, I don't know what my options are.

I would say epinter one is the most reliable one for now. i bet he is cooking somthing good with his atm ROM and the leak also, so it would be even better.

Did you say reliable?
Then forget about both ICS and JB and go with GB. Any variant will do.
ICS/JB ROMs are just too unfinished yet to be a reliable daily driver, IMO. People are woking hard on them though, so there is no doubt they will one day become as reliable as good old GB.
Agreed.

This is a very accurate summary of where we stand. I'm still running Nottachtrix 1.3.1 even though Nottach left the Atrix over a month ago, just because everything works on it. Bluetooth, wifi, HWA, Ubuntop, all cameras, and even a decent selection of themes for both android and linux.
But with the new leak libs, there is sure to be a fantastic CM9/10 ROM that takes advantage of them. We just have to be patient.
Hi
If you're not using thoroughly your phone, the CM10 form Epinter is now reliable enough for a daily use.
I was using CM7 since months, and after trying CM10 last week, i'm still using it and have found no real limitations for a basic usage.
I'd recommend you to keep a GB based rom if you want to have the most reliable system and if video recording is a primary need for you.
Just my $.02: I don't even use the "latest" GB 2.3.7 ROM: I've returned to Neutrino 2.6 EE (the latest is 2.91 at this writing). CM 7.2 RC1 was the most stable + efficient ROM from the CM gurus for my Atrix. I charge my phone once every two or three days too.
Think about driving a car that everyone laughs at that's never needing to go to the shop. Gits ya there, gits ya back, reliably and without anyone really paying attention to it, and it just goes and goes and holds its own against everyone else. Newest doesn't always mean best; trustworthiness does.
Epinter's CM10 worked OK for me despite the few well known bugs.
You might give the brand new AtrICS ROM a shot. It's hard to believe that it could already be as stable as it claims to be, but with working hardware acceleration, it should have some bugs fixed as compared to CM10.

epinter JB rom

Thanks,

I switched from epinter's CM10 to AtrICS today and found it to be a fairly usable. You trade some features for others.
I prefer the interface of CM10 to AtrICS, but AtrICS feels really snappy thanks to the HWA. I'll probably get used to ICS after a while. The Camera works well, but, like others I noticed that after switching from the back camera to the front, there was some corruption on the right side of the screen. Going into Camera Settings and unchecking then rechecking the Widescreen box fixes this. There are problems with the unlock screen of AtrICS; it can be slow to appear when you press the power button and I have seen the screen turn on for a split second before turning right back off. If you let the phone go into a deep sleep, you may see a black screen for a minute, in my case the unlock screen did eventually appear. I've had one reboot right after closing a bunch of apps running in the background then trying to open a browser.
WiFi works great with AtrICS and mobile data feels faster than I remember.
My mobile gone hot after a few minute use AtrICS, and experienced network lost. The phone also hot with epinter 's version.
Restored TopSmart1.3. GB has the stablity I trust.

Best senseless rom?

I hate hate hate hate HTC sense! I want a stock launcher and all the "nonsense" off my Rezound. What Rom is my best solution without giving up any functionality of the device. I don't want crappy signal and intermittent data I've been getting from asop. I also would like the ability to WiFi tether. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Also I've been looking at cm9 linario rage. Is that a solid Rom or does it also contain the reception issues of asop?

Well honestly, either way you go, senseless or AOSP, your gonna run into some bugs. This is because AOSP is only about 92% stable. The problems in a Sense based rom that has been desensed may be an issue. I can't give you a list of bugs you would see, but basically they would be there. When a rom is desensed, some key elements of the rom are removed. When these things get removed bugs appear. Your not gonna find a perfect rom, but if you can deal with a couple bugs here and there, then I am positive you will find plenty of good roms on the forums.
since when does aosp have reception problems.
SlimKANG 2.1 for my favorite "senseless." I bounce between that and EclipticRez, but SK 2.1 has no issues that are not by design that I notice.
Awesome, then I know what to try and what to look for. My 5th droid 3 died and the 12mo warranty was up. I had to buy another phone and HTC makes solid phones and this had great specs. This phone was $200 and in excellent condition and couldn't pass it up. I figured I'd just flash aosp, but the phone came with cm9 and data was in and out never stable, dropped calls, and signal sucked. Flashed latest original RUU and now I want to S-OFF and go sensless.
Thanks for your advice. Greatly appreciated.

Adrenaline 2.0. Neo is a fantastic dev, and a great guy. He answers questions about his work no matter how basic, and will help you with any problems. Also, Dragonstalker's Rezone Redux is an awesome Senseless rom. To be honest, there isn't a single bad senseless rom out there. The dev community here has those whipped.
Make sure that you aren't using the wrong network settings with CM9, most of the people with data issues that I helped straighten out, actually caused their data issues without realizing it. The AOSP network settings are slightly different from what you would use on sense. If I remember correctly it's the second and fourth options that you use. Somebody running AOSP will need to confirm that though.
