Backup Original ROM do you keep Kernel? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Had a quick question. I just rooted my Tab. Used Rom Manager from market to backup the original ROM. Going to flash with Task650 ROM and 1.4oc kernel. My question is if I want to restore the original ROM after I do this. Do I get the original Kernel back with the restore as well? Or do I need to back this up seperate?
Thanks!

This is what id did, I flashed clockwork recovery with odin, i went into recovery did a back up in clockwork recovery and not rom manager. Rom manager does not always give you a good back. Then i rooted the tab after that. So when i restore to stock, i restore the stock rom unrooted. And last you have to reflash stock recovery with odin. I have done this at least 3 times and it restores totally to stock.

Thank you!

[Q] Clockword Mod Manager

Ok, so long story short - I went through a lot of steps to restore my fascinate to stock, and then rooted it through recovery. It worked fine until I installed Rom Manager and now my phone won't boot into recovery again. My question is - did I do something wrong?
I restored my phone to stock using Heimdall
Updated it to the latest version
Rooted it using odin and flashing recovery
then installed Rom Manager
Thank you for all your help guys!!!

download odin (onto pc), a non stock kernel and the recovery.zip that you want to use.(both recovery.zip and non stock kernel on your sd card)
Put your phone in dl mode and flash recovery via odin...when odin is done, immediately three finger boot into recovery and flash non stock kernel, and reboot.
Unless your on cm7 rom manager is useless and will bring more hurt then help, and your recovery is being overwritten by the stock kernel every time you boot which is why you need the non stock kernel...I personally would recommend a rom that contains a kernel...you can find a list of all roms, kernels, and recoveries in the dev section stickies.
Do you know how to properly flash roms, and kernels? I ask because I don't want to get you stuck even worse...if you need step by step instructions I'll reply later when I'm at a pc
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
You can give me a few tips and hints. That would be appreciated. Also, I thought the easiest way was through Rom Manager.
On a side note - what would be the most stable ROM to flash to the fascinate?
EDIT: Ok, so I installed PowerWashed 1.2 ROM and can handle this on my own a little bit. I'm still a little unsure on which roms are most stable/trustworthy, but I might stick with this one for a while.

T-Mobile Vibrant Won't Go Into Clockwork Recovery after flashing odin to stock recov.

So, my phone was rooted, I flashed Bionix onto with Overstock Kernel, I tried to install Destroyer of Worlds Kernel but my phone wouldn't boot up. So I flashed Odin to revert to the original TouchWiz ROM. I re-rooted the phone but now it won't let me flash Clockwork Recovery. I used ROM Manager to flash it, I re-installed the packages several times using the stock recovery, I also manually went into stock recovery and that wouldn't work. I tried everything but nothing works. Someone help me! D:

[Q] I am a noob. Can I back up more than one Rom?

I backed up stock rom when I flashed CM7 to my Atrix. Now I want to flash Alien or DarkSide. If I back up the CM7, can I still go back to stock Rom?
One more question, Now I am using rom manager's Clockwork Recovery, if I flash another recovery, can I still found the rom I backed up?

yes, you can have as many backups as will fit on your sdcard
yes, you will still have your backups

Which kernel do I have?

I checked my settings>about phone and it says I have 2.6.32.9 kernel and T959UVKA7 baseband
When I go to clockworkmod recovery, it says Voodoo Lagfix recovery
So which one do I have? Voodoo or Stock?
The reason why I'm asking is because yesterday I got bricked while trying to recover back to nandroid from ICS, and had to odin my way back to stock, and then reroot, and then restore from nandroid. Also, why did I get bricked in the first place?

What rom was your nandroid, stock or a custom rom? And if you are restoring a nandroid from ICS to a pre ICS rom you will soft brick because of the kernel incompatibility since nandroid does not backup or restore the kernel. That's why you always have to odin to stock when you want to come back from an AOSP rom like CM7, MIUI, or ICS.
I already bricked it just now before i read ur message. I had axura 2.2.7.2. And yes, I odin'd to stock, i rerooted, installed rom manager, and then I tried to restore nandroid.
I am stuck in a bootloop, which takes me to Samsung Recovery Utils blue screen.
I go to reinstall packages, and then it takes me to green clockwork mod screen. I format user data, and I then restore from the nandroid. Then it takes me to vibrant logo. Phone goes off for a sec, restarts to vibrant logo, and I'm at the Samsung Recovery Utils screen again. Been trying to fix it for hours now.

CWM problem.

I restored to 2.3.3 after bootloops in my ICS rom. But now when i go to CWM and select an option there is nothing but the CWM logo in the background. What did i do wrong? Since i cant flash a rom with CWM is it safe to use odin and just flash a stock ICS Fw
You don't have Rom Manager installed/use it by chance, do you ?
Nope dont use it
OK. Something has broken Recovery then (Rom Manager has a tendency to do that if you use it/have it installed on a phone with CWM which is why I asked).
If you're back on GB, you could try flashing a CFRoot kernel in Odin. That would probably give you CWM back. Or you could flash an stock ICS rom as you mentioned. Then you could root. Or not.
Up to you. Shouldn't be any dramas flashing a stock ICS rom in Odin tho, the probs with CWM won't stop you doing that.
