Hi,
I just bought the samsung galaxy s2 from bell canada. I rooted it by flashing a different kernel here on XDA.
The timing of my messages received seem to be messed up. The time I send the message is displayed correctly but the time when I receieve a text message is 4 hours earlier than when it was actually recieved.
For example, it's 7:23pm here in Canada. When I receive a text message, the time received shows up as 3:23pm (4 hours earlier).
Is there any fix for it? Please help
Thanks
Flash XXKI3. It was fixed a while ago in KG6 I think but you may as well go with the latest leaked build.

If you want to stay with the stock firmware, download an app called "time stamp fix" from the market.

I have the Samsung Galaxy S II from Bell Mobility in Canada (Model GT I9100M) and for some reason, when I send a text message to someone (been happening in the last half hour), its displayed on the top. Meaning lets say someone texts me "hi, how are you?" and I reply "not bad", my message should be under the theirs right? Its not, its on top and any message I send goes on top of their messages. So basically my messages are grouped in the top and their on the bottom.
Thoughts?
Download SMS Time Fix from marketplace and reboot. It should fix the SMS time stamp. It did for me and I'm using Bell Samsung GS2 too unlocked to Rogers.

Thanks for the tip! Also, when I send a new message to a new number, it goes to the bottom of the list. So the older convo with a contact is at top first, then the newer contacts in the bottom. I assume the fix will correct that right?
Edit: No luck at all
Its a known issue, even on mg Sensation. Try Handcent SMS.. Been using it for years now on multiple devices.

So it has to do with the network I assume on Bell's end? I haven't had this problem on my Atrix or previous Bell Android devices. Ya I might as well just install handcent.
I bought a bell sgs2 and unlocked it to use with rogers. Now my time stamps for texts are all wrong. The ones i sent are right times but the ones i receive are 5 hours late.
Example: i get the message at 10:00pm but it shows the message was received at 5:00pm
Any fix to this? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
I have the same issue. The only solution I know is to download the Rogers SMS app from the Market. It will automatically correct the time for you.
Hi,
I recently helped a colleague purchase a Galaxy SIII phone here in China, Guangzhou and made sure I checked the phone over completely before I purchased it.
I've done a search on the forums and check out anything that may be similar, but to no avail.
The problem is:
The phone will not receive any text messages, or at least they don't go through to the messaging app.
Text messages were being received normally for around a week
I disabled a bunch of pre-installed Chinese crap that is unfortunately not un-installable as it's baked into the ROM
It happened once, so I factory reset it, and then tested it. The text messages worked fine
I then disabled the Chinese stuff once again and installed Skype. Just to be sure, I sent more test text messages, and they were all received fine.
Around one week later, here we are, she says that text messages are not being received again.
All other functions of the phone are working. Internet / Edge network, sending texts, Play store, everything. Just not the receiving of texts!
I'm fairly confused as to this behaviour, particularly as it seems the text messages are working for a time limited period.
I had some inklings of what it could be:
- The SIII takes a micro-sim, the shop "manually" chopped the SIM using a cutter. Could this have damaged the SIM and caused this behaviour?
- The phone itself is faulty
- Something is up with the China Mobile settings / network and she needs to call them.
What would be your diagnosis, ideas, solutions XDA'ers?
Further information of any kind is, of course, available on request.
**** My ideas for a fix ****
Root the bastard and get a standard UK ROM on the phone to see if it works. However, I have some concerns. Years ago, when I bought my first HTC desire, when I rooted and put a UK ROM on it, I discovered that my phone was an imported Thai version of the phone and almost bricked it into a reboot loop as the phone didn't like a different regions ROM being loaded on.
I had to go through a convoluted process of making a specially edited SD-card to fool the phone into accepting different ROMS. Is this the case with the Galaxy SIII or have times moved on to more sophisticated means?
Thanks.

Have you try other messaging apps like Hancent SMS or Go SMS to confirm that msg service is not working?
Or maybe the CSC is causing the problem?

Open the stock messaging app. In its menu go to settings. Check that there is a number recorded under message centre. If not use Google to find the number for the carrier you are with and enter it.
I'm on an unrooted phone with a stock Rom and twice messaging has stopped working. The cause was that this number had spontaneously disappeared.

Ok, I've tried:
- alternative messaging apps, and they're not picking it up either.
- the message centre number.
When you say CSC? You mean the carrier code? It was bought in China and fitted with a Chinese ROM, but I'll look at the ROM settings and see what it is.
Thanks.
U dial *#1234# then you can see your csc
CSC – (Consumer Software Customization) Refers to the specific country or carriers for that said firmware is being build.
This where it contains the default settings of each specific geographical region, carrier network providers and network data connections.

I am having this problem. It was all working fine then suddenly it stopped. I don't know what could be the cause but I fooled around with the settings, deleted old text messages and then suddenly I received dozens of text messages.
It's like my phone isn't trying to receive any text messages. It can send text messages out but it won't receive any.
I am using Omega 31.1.
Can someone help me out please?

I had the same issue,
I changed the Network options from gsm only to "Auto" mode, and apparently it worked for me.
Hi, I'm having a strange problem here. The phone does not receive any text messages. It can still send them and still receives mms though. This is actually the second time it's happened and none of the solutions I've found so far have worked.
What I ended up doing the first time it happened was I took out the sim and put it into my old phone (an AT&T One X) and that would receive all those texts I wasn't getting before. Then I factory reset the S3 and put the sim back into it. Doing that solved the issue for a little while, but now it's happening again.
Anybody know what's happening here or what I'm doing wrong? I'm on AT&T and currently running Android Revolution HD 22.4 using the latest official Samsung rom. The phone is a European version that I bought from Newegg unlocked.
Thanks!

My wife's having the same problem with her international GS3 on AT&T - just stopped receiving text messages a couple of days ago, but she can still send them and she can receive MMS. She swapped sim cards and nothing changed, and a factory reset didn't fix the problem. Call center number is correctly indicated in the messaging app. I spent an hour on the phone with AT&T and they were unable to help (and unwilling to help after I said the word "unlocked"). However, I put the sim in an old phone and she immediately received the missing text messages.
Running stock EMB5, not rooted.
I think it's some configuration problem.
Like number of SMS center or such, ask your operator to get exact configuration.
I have been experienced similar problem, not unable to receive but unable to sent correctly, my text was incorrectly encoded.
just check out the setting.

Well as I said, the call center number was correct.
In any case, I seem to have fixed the issue (for the moment, at least) by using the kies "firmware upgrade and initialization" procedure to wipe and reset the phone.
Have a rooted I777 that is unlocked and running on T-Mobile. I can send and received texts but unable to send or receive messages with photos. Phone has ICS 4.0.4 I777UCLL6 with Siyah I777-V7.9B. I have followed these instructions though they are for older Android version at the support dot t-mobile dot com/docs/DOC-1979 . If I send a message it takes a few mintues then I get a response "REJECTED" on my ATT phone. If I try and send from unlocked/rooted phone with Issue it just shows "Sending" on the photo for ever.
Thanks,
Check your apns
