Good day,
I have some corrupted files when trying to unrar a .rar file within the tab and now i couldn't delete the file as it keep reappearing even after deleted. The .rar works fine in pc and I'm able to extract the files from it. Possibly due to the files are not in English.
I tried mounting it as USB to PC and the file won't appear in Window's even thou with hidden file options on.
Any ways for me to force delete a file in GT 10.1 like how we did in windows using cmd?
Thanks
anyone?? Bump

Hi all! Whenever some friends of mine update their Twitter a/c in Hindi Language Fonts, am unable to read them as they show up us empty rectangular boxes. Wasn't Gingerbread 2.3.3 supposed to support Hindi Language Fonts? Anyone knows how to fix this?
I guess I will have to add the Hindi font ttf file in the "fonts" folder in my Root> System folder. I have the droidhindi.ttf file downloaded but I don't know how to copy it to the required folder in root. It does not show sytem files when connected to a Laptop via USB. I can view the folder in Root Explorer on my phone, but how to transport the droidhindi.ttf file to the Fonts folder in the phone??
And will it work if I just add the drop the droidhindi.ttf file in the Fonts folder? Anyone who knows this??
a lot of indians are buying this phone

ok this is what you need to do...
goto systems/fonts and take a backup of DroidSansFallback.ttf
move it to computer/sdcard...but keep it safe...
now move the droidhindi.ttf to systems/fonts
rename droidhindi.ttf to DroidSansFallback.ttf
restart the browser....by killing it from task manager and relaunching...
go to a hindi site....

@woodstock_ahem : Thanks a ton for your response. In a hurry right now, will do as you posted in my first free time. Hope it works
@woodstock_ahem : Ok, got down to acting upon your advice. But the problem is that I can only view the /sdcard directory of my phone when connected to my laptop via USB cable. I cannot access any other space in the phone except the /sdcard.
I can view the root files via the Root Explorer app on my phone, so I tried to Move the DroidSansFallback.ttf from the System>Fonts folder, but when I click on the Move command, I get the message that "You cannot move System Files as they are Read Only". So the problem I'm facing is HOW to transfer the new .ttf file from my laptop to the Fonts folder in System? I can neither transport the new file from my laptop to the Fonts folder in the phone coz that folder is not accessible when connected to the laptop, nor can I move the existing DroidSansFallback.ttf file anywhere else from the Fonts folder on the phone. So what to do now?
Just a piece of info which might be useful for you : My phone has KE8 Kernel, is rooted but reverted back to original kernel to remove the yellow triangle.

To alter any system files you need to set to R/W(read/write) if you keep it at read only you cant alter anything.(its designed as a protection)
On the top R/H conner of root explorer there is a button to set it to R/W or RO.
Hope this helps you.

To add to what @iznee has mentioned....
do the following:-
copy the droidhindi.ttf anywhere in the phone memory(after preferably creating a folder).. this doesnt need root explorer...just a file copy from the laptop should be enough... (you said you can see sdcard folder right ?... copy the file there)
i am guessing so far you have not used root explorer for anything else than browsing system files..else you wont be asking the question...
so first things first you have to provide root access to the root explorer app else you would not be able to provide it with r/w access...
install a free app superuser and give the root access allow to root explorer...
follow what @iznee has mentioned above
then follow what i advised in my first reply to this thread
@Iznee : "To alter any system files you need to set to R/W(read/write)".....this is what I had missed! Thanks a ton, your post was very helpful.
@woodstock_ahem : Thanks, Woody! Once I was able to change the option to r/w......rest was easy. Replaced the .ttf like you said. Now opening some hindi sites to test whether it works. And voila! it works! Thanks again to both of you
But one minor hiccup has occured. I've lost the Original DroidSansFallback.ttf file I'll tell you how. I had moved the original file to my sdcard>android folder. The original was a 4.5 MB file but it was showing as a .nomedia file with 0 bytes. So I thought let me move it to my Data Folder inside the Android folder from where I intended to transport the original file to my laptop, where I thought it would be safer. Till I moved the original file to my Android folder inside sdcard, the file was showing as normal (DroidSansFallback.ttf), but as soon as I moved it from there to my Data folder inside the Android folder it turned into a .nomedia file with 0 bytes! And when I moved it back to the android file it was still showing as a .nomedia file with 0 bytes.
So does this mean that Samsung is not allowing us to move the Original DroidSansFallback.ttf file outside the phone? I hope I will never need the original file as the file I replaced it with is working fine, but just in case I need it......now I don't have the original
Just as you got the droidhindi.ttf from the web you can get the lost file...you would also get it back when you update the next released firmware..or reflash ROM...plenty of ways...no big deal...this would be a learning point for you...

Ya, no big deal that I lost the original as the new one is working fine, so I won't miss the original. But my question was this.......does this mean that we cannot move system files of the phone outside the phone? How did the file change its filetype to .nomedia and its filesize to 0 bytes from 4.5MB?
i had not elaborated on how to copy a file from the phone memory to the computer assuming that is too simple to write about it...
i dont see any problem here...the learning point for you is..always...always create a new folder for taking backups...and not just move a file into a systems library..
this equates to dowloading a music file into c:\windows\system32\data as an example...why not have a separate folder for it..
i have taken a copy of DroidSanFallback.ttf into a new folder created in both Sdcard phone folder as well as into a folder created into external_sd (which is a separate physical sd card)...
can move it back and forth to/from computer without issues...
this will work for any kind of file..any extension...
so there is no issue here...
I DL'ed ODIN 1.85 to flash CWM to my tab but as soon as I open it with 7z it closes right away. I've tried it on my toshiba netbook as well as my new HP laptop and I get the same result.
Am I missing something?
sidenote: I'm pretty familar with ODIN as I use it with my captivate (and that version opens fine on my netbook). I just can't get this to stay open
Bump.
Nothing??
Why do you open odin with 7z?
- unzip the folder & run as Administrator
open & run programs like that from 7zip is like playing with fire
I had the same issue. I unzipped the folder and madr sure all the files stay in the same folder. This should fix it.
it might have an error in korean, it might be missing the ini file if this comes up. launch with the ini in the same folder and it should be ok
It worked on my laptop you may need to uninstall the old version/drivers and reinstall.

you helped me so much.
I downloaded it 8 times
Weird problem. Copied an Apk file from /data/app to /sdcard so I could transfer to my pc. Didn't show up on my pc connection, shows up on androids file browser. Now I can't delete it, tried three different file browsers. Can't rename it, move it, etc. Under file details it says md5 is not found.
Anyone got any ideas?
Hi,
I'm relatively new to Android and I'd like your feedback on a problem I'm facing using unrar programs on my Note II.
I tried to unrar some files I threw from my pc experimenting with 3-4 programs available at Google Play to see if it can be done correctly. While everything seems to work ok, the filesize of the end file is exactly the same as if I was doing the job at my pc, and the name and file extension (Matroska file in my example) is written correctly in the created file under properties, when I try to play it it doesn't work for some reason.
Of course if I unrar the same files at my pc and throw the end file inside the pc, then everything is ok. For some weird reason, while the unrar process seems to be done correctly in my phone, the end file cannot be played.
Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks in advance

I use this ,not a single problem so far,it can support multiple files as well.
I have installed exactly the same program atm in my Note II!
I don't know if the problem is with the program though. I'm trying to unrar multiple rar files to create the mkv video. The operation is done correctly as I said (or at least it seems so) but the mkv file cannot be played. The filesize and the name of the endf ile is exactly the same as if I was doing the operation in my pc, but for some reason the file cannot be played.. :/
Also I noticed that if I try to copy this file in my pc, or move/copy it somewhere else inside the phone I can't!
I can only delete it..
It could be that just one file is missing the.rar extension in that case you have to rename it into.rar.
And it's better to put all of the multiple files in one folder.
Thanks for your feedback guys I found what was the issue. I need to make one clarification though so if you can help, you'd help me understand why this happens.
I've done the internal/external swap memory flashmod on my Note II, and I was trying to unrar/write initially on the now external card(but in reality it's the internal memory without the mod). So when I perform the operation in the "external" card the created file cannot play.
When I try to do it in the now internal(but in reality sd card/external memory) everything works just fine.
Is there any limitation to begin with with using unrar programs in the external memory? Or it might be an issue/bug with the mod quite possibly?
Thanks in advance
I installed Easy Unrar, Unzip & Zip from Goolge play to unzip a zip folder on my phone. It didn't work at all, besides, it created a folder (with strange character name) which can not be deleted. It's 0 byte, can be opened but is empty. Can not create anything inside. I tried deleting with Astro file manager, nothing happened, the folder still there. I tried deleting from my PC, it said the 'Cannot delete the folder. Storage is protected. Remove the write-protection and try again'. The strange folder is on my internal memory. I don't have a memory card installed. Please help.
I can delete any other things on my phone. The file name of the zip I tried to unzip is not English, which I suspect might be the problem?

help
ive encountered this too. can someone help us or did you already fix this? I think it has a chinese character like.apk but when you open. it opens as if it was a folder. but you cannot delete, rename, move or copy. even through desktop operations failed. and also its shows the date accessed in a year 1970. i tried to edit my date settings hoping that I might delete it but this note 2 has a minimum of year 2000. help thanks
Try to install clean master and open it. Press junk file and standard. Allow it to scan. It shld have a residual folders place. Just scan it with standard and advanced. See if it is still thr. Btw. U can unzip zip files with File Expert.
