[Q] Problems with custom roms and apps - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

hi there,
i have some frustrating problems with my x10 mini pro and custom roms loaded from here (like gingerdx v15 and minicm7 pro v16).
first of all, i cleaned my phone with fresh firmware 2.1.1 from SE.
wiped user data and loaded custom rom. so far everything ok
BUT when i install apps like root explorer or navigon, these apps wont work. crashes right after i start them.
i am about to go back to stock 2.1.1 cause of that

Check that your phone is rooted correctly with superoneclick tool or flashtool, programs that require root access may crash otherwise.

superoneclick says my phone is already rootet
don't think its the root access, because navigon doesn't need root

[Q] HELP!!!!

My x10 mini is running Android 2.1, Build number is 2.0.1.A..0.47
I can't root the phone with z4root and superoneclick.
I need someone to help me please!!
re: help
what happens exactly?
Do a repair using SEUS and then use z4root. Very easy - can't go wrong.
1. Put the z4root file on the SD-card
2. Download Astro file manager (free version from android market) and install it.
3. Use Astro to locate z4root on your SD-card and install it
4. Open z4root
5. Choose root phone
6. Wait until the phone reboots
Finished!
I did it already, and I tried a lot of ways. Still not works.
Thx
Which version do you use of z4root? 1.2? 1.3? and can you tell me what happens when you try to root, with z4root.
I ask because I and lots of other user have no problem with the z4root, I only seen one user that had to wait for around 10 min before the phone restarted. But after that was the phone rooted.

This build is the same as x8's build and we can't seem to root it either.
One thing that you can do is revert to .504 build and use that

Please try this version 1.3 of z4root it should work for you (atleast do many reports says it will work for your firmware).
Better to try and fail, then never try at all
Unfortunately it doesnt work with this build.
Thanks for trying it! I will add a notice that it dont work on your firmware in my thread.

There is NO need for any ADB commands! you only need the z4root file and to download the ASTRO file manager (free version) from Android market. And then are you ready to start to root!
Just remember to put the z4root file on your SD-card.

Rooting unsuccesful?

Usually, i use z4root to root my x10. Its very easy and fast
But since yesterday, I messed up my phone and all those apps gone in the menu, but the memory is still there
So i decided to restore with SEUS
i updated to a newer software
after that, z4root no longer working
SuperOneClick v1.5.5 also not working as well
Can anybody tell me any solution or ways to root the phone?
Thanks

You've updated to a new ROM which, until now, is unrootable. However, you can flash the previous ROM, re-root it and then flash zdzihu's pre-rooted ROM along with JiT.
It's all here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=883890.

[Q] Can You Root v2.2 Froyo With Z4ROOT?

I recently updated my phone to 2.2 Froyo with Kies Mini on my PC. After updating I attempted to re-root with Z4ROOT and after a few random vibrations it closed out the the app... So I have two questions...
1) Can you still root a v2.2 Samsung Vibrant (U.S.) with Z4ROOT?
2) Also I have Clockworkmod on my phone, will that still work properly without root on my phone?
Most probably z4root won't work.
Use super one click.
cwm needs root.
Thanks. Also after updating, my phone seems to be lagging more then usual. Is this a result of updating with clockworkmod on the phone?
Means you flashed cwm after update? And now your phone seems to lag!
I don't know, I updated to froyo and also have cwm but I don't get any lag.
I don't think any custom recovery must cause a phone to lag.
You must try auto task killers, there are many in market, maybe they help.
just odin back to stock fixes almost everything.

No, Z4root does not work, I have tried it.
But yes, if you can get into cwm, you do not need root to flash anything with it. I have flashed files without root through cwm, so that is how I know.

gingerbread help!!!

I just installed Wolfbreaks 2.3 and tried to reboot into recovery but it would just boot into the OS. I followed the instructions on the OP and found that busyox wasn't on the apps list like it should be and titanium wouldn't run because it needed ROOT privileges. help me, how do I install root on 2.3 or is that not possible?

yes, I did every part, I followed the video posted in OP.. my phones rooted but I can't access Xrecovery what do I do?
well I just found a fix for my phone. I think installing over a 2.2 rom was at fault here, for some reason after installing Wolf's 2.3, my phone wasn't rooted (no busybox, superuser,Xrecovery) and once I tried to install xrec on my pc, it wouldn't find my phone, so after all that, I decided to try installing it on my sister's pc and it worked, my phone is rooted with xrec working. so any one out there not wanting to restore back to 2.1 when installing 2.3 SHOULD install back to 2.1, installing from custom roms causes problems, learnt the hard way,. but if there are people here that went the same way I did and don't have their x10 rooted, go here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1196421
install Xrec and root it

Need help with a ROOT problem

I have a Galaxy Ace...which came with Android 2.2
My partner rooted it and everything was fine. At the same time he upgraded to Gingerbread 2.3.3
But a couple of weeks ago he upgraded it to Gingerbread 2.3.6....and now it says it is root...but it doesn't have access to the root only apps....and it doesn't show the Superuser app that is needed.
Somehow it seems to be in some sort of limbo between unrooted and rooted.
I am well confused. Can anyone out there help please.
It looks like that the latest GB ROM used for the upgrade does not have the root.
You can add root to it. Before you do that, check by using terminal app with su command if the phone is rooted or not.

Thank you....it sounds a bit technical.
I will get my partner to read it in a while.
Although it sounded like I KNOW what I am on about...I am, in fact, a complete beginner when it comes to Android.
Updating from kies or from odin will make your phone unroot again. U need to reroot.

Root issue on Ace...
Hello all! I am Julado's partner. I had better explain what this is about in more detail here...
I took the original OS (Froyo) and updated it to Gingerbread (2.3.3) via Kies, I then used SOC to root it using ChainFire method - then installed and performed a TB back up. ALL Good - a few weeks later - I flashed an update using Odin to get 2.3.6 and an updated version of CF's kernel. At THAT point, CWM recovery had root access - but fully booted GingerBread had no SU app or returned root status via test command (both using a script and terminal). Sys info in settings shows 2.3.6 and ROOTED kernel image, but NO ROOT ACCESS is there in GB ~ Just in CWM Recovery.
I have re-flashed the CF kernel a few times and STILL have the same situation. I cannot understand why CWM has ROOT access but FULL 2.3.6 system doesn't.
Can anyone offer my any help please? Or possibly point out the blindingly obvious if I have missed what's clearly staring me in the face! Thanks.
So u already flashed ketut's cfroot kernel and still doesn't have root access in the rom? Thats weird.
Btw kernel name in system settings even if it said root doesnt mean your rooted. thats the build host of the kernel compiler.

When you are in GB, you can't root your ace via SOC. It will look success, but actually it's not. You have to root it using update.zip and flash via recovery. Just find it by googling.

Thanks for the speedy reply!
I understand that the settings name is from build compiler. I have tested for root access with terminal and various apps (even tried downloading & installing SU app myself!!) - but don't understand why CWM DOES have root - but full OS doesn't!
I am truly baffled ATM!

I did get FULL root access after using SOC to root (chainfire method) GB - I rooted 2.3.3 with SOC, NO PROBLEMS! - THEN made TB (needs root) successfully. It was only after using Odin to flash 2.3.6 that SOC root resulted in the current quasi-rooted state.
I have tried re-flashing CF kernel both using Odin AND via CWM (update.zip) method - Neither worked = STILL BAFFLED???!
