When charging on the mains adapter does anyone else notice that the charger its self runs very warm? Not 'hot', just pretty warm? No other USB based chargers seem to do this. Is this the norm?

Anyone know if a 2amp (mini usb charger) would damage the TYTN. I would think not but I have no idea if charging the battery rapidly would damage it? unless there is an internal chip that regulates the charging?
Any help would be appreceated so I can start the MOD.
I have 2A usb car charger. seems to work just fine.
Hello
As you know, our device doesnt get charged by the USB cable it comes with (or veeeeeery slow).
As I have a solar charging device with USB slots, I need a compatible USB cable. Somehow it has to work, is there some converter or something ?
Thanks!
Dominik
Eh? My device charges just fine with the included cable.
You will have trouble charging it from a solar powered USB charger as I'm guessing it will only put out 5V at maybe 500mA. That's not enough to juice the TF. It's not the cable though.
Because ASUS used a USB connector on its cable, unfortunately does *not* mean this USB connector 100% follows the specifications for USB.
It has a trick, whereby, when connecting to your PC it works like USB at 5v. But, when connecting to a 15v charger it switches to use 15v instead.
The TF charging indicator, and Android OS battery settings, only indicate charging when 15v applied. At 5v it may trickle charge with screen & wifi & ??? turned OFF. I never try charging at 5v because it is too slow.
LOL
I don't think it charges at all at 5v?
EDIT:
How can I delete a post?

It will, provided you have the amperage. But its only trickle so its only really charging with the screen off and charges slower than the tablet uses battery.
OK, I read some of the threads but it seems none apply to my Atrix.
I purchased 2 USB car chargers, one has auto mA from 1A to 2A and the other is a 2.1A Kesington charger. I plugged to both. The phone says A/C charge, but it charges 10% in 40 minutes.
I used the wall chargers. Stock 850mA, it charges about 10% in 10 minutes. Iphone wall charger 1A, fast too. Blackberry 750mA, fast too.
All of them are 5v output, both car and wall.
So whats the problem? The phone doesnt like anything over 1A? what the hell is up with the phone?
I tried the Battery Monitor Widget and the readings are all over the place, but I can tell you for sure that with the wall chargers it shows A/C at over +1200, with the car chargers it shows +150 to +200, +250 at best.
I dont want to go over $100 trying stupid car chargers, so do you guys know of any limitation on the damn Atrix that decides to sip power instead of chugging.
Thanks
Anyone find charging the Z3TC painfully slow? It takes me 6+ hours to get to full charge using the magnetic connector. Is it faster over USB? Is there anyway to see how much current is actually being drawn without root?
I'm charging using a USB wall wart, 5V/2A rating.
while charging, go to settings/about tablet/status and look what battery state is saying: "AC" means normal charging while "USB" says usb charging. The latter often is usualy limiting to 500mA. This would mean that your wallmart charge or your cable has the connectors wrong so that the device thinkgs it is on a normal pc-usb port.

3:50 for me to fully charge on magnetic stand.
magnetic charging
I also experience the same thing with the magnetic changer but when I use USB it does change it faster
I've noticed that as well! That it takes over 6 hours to charge up. It's very mysterious as to why though. I have the usb cord connected to a 5v/2a rated wall adapter, that takes forever to charge it with. Anyone know why or how to get it to charge faster?
So I ordered a bunch of stuff from ebay and amazon and am going to try a few things over the new few days to figure out the slow charging
1). charge using 5V/2A wall wart through a "charging" micro usb cable. This is one where the 3 data pins are not connected, only the 2 power pins. I have a rooted htc one m8 that can measure the charging current and will make sure this setup is capable of >500mA charging
2). same as above but use a micro usb to magnetic port adapter
3). charge using the official DK36 charging dock(not designed for the Z3TC as far as I know, it came with my xperia z2 phone, but the tablet fits in it and charges)
Since theres so many links in this chain(wall wart, usb cable, dock/mag port connector) I figure its worth seeing if one of them is a weak link
Can anyone confirm this? When i use adaptive fast charger to charge my phone, the charger it self is cool but the head of the micro USB is very very hot. Is it normal or i need to replace the cable?
It's okay. Mine gets hot, too. Keep in mind that the current and voltage during fast charge are higher: 9V 1.67A (15.3W) , a regular charger supplies 5V 1A (5W).
Same here. The USB Port (Charger Side) heats up a lot. Started yesterday apparently. Until now it was fine!
Smells bad (The expensive smoke smell) on the USB port of the charger. Doesn't seem normal to me.
I was searching over internet, mine gets extremely too.
when charge, my charger is hot and sharp noise
Same here.
My charger "head" the part that goes into phones gets really hot, but it's normal I guess. A couple buddies have reportedone same thing.
