Really wanted to pick up this phone today. Been waiting for it since i broke my Infuse 4G about a month ago. Went to Wal-Mart, they didn't have it. Went to AT&T store they didn't have it and said they have to order it. Called another AT&T and they said Northern California store won't be getting it. What's the deal? Does iPhone 5 have anything to do with it?

There are 3 markets in the US not getting the GS II. Your market must be one of them. I think NC or SC might be the other and some place in Texas. I will look for the official info.

thats what the att rep told me also, i had the sprint samsung galaxy s2 version and returned it today so i can get the gsm galaxy s2 version from at&t today. Kinda sucks when every other place not bayarea related gets the phone and we dont. Im gonna wait for the Nexus prime instead. f-u at&t.

LOL...makes me still wonder, conspiracy wise if at&t delayed the s2 to as close as the iphone 5, to keep the drones on board. Yes, apparently San Antonio, Austin, and Houston areas do not have it.
I was at Target last night and they had a non-functional display unit there, so I'm guessing they'd also have stock there. I'm in the bay area, north cal, too.
Can't wait until I can upgrade!
I got screwed over by this too. I waited until opening at the corporate store and they said "sorry, we didn't receive any". Great. On the launch day.
Luckily best buy had 4 in stock and I got the last one.
I also picked up the GSII yesterday Saturday. Asked if they had the GSII, sales guy said yes, so picked it up. Great device. Its the best phone I have used. Now I see why Apple is really worried that the SGII will be a better device.

I got the last of only 5 today at BB in Simi Valley, CA. and it just so happened that the region Samsung Dealer was there when I was there. And he confirmed that the ATT stores in this area and several others would not be getting the SGSII because...He could not say the reason but did drop the "Assumption" that it was because of a certain brand of phone exclusive...What a Joke, but that is what happens when you sign into exclusive deals. Oh well I was not planning on getting this today but the opportunity was there and I traded in my Infuse (of only a month and a half)and now I am a (Happy) SGSII user. Now the Fun begins!
Yeah, definitely something weird. I talked to a mobile services rep at Target tonight (he says they're getting them in stock @ Target this week) and he mentioned that "something happened" in regards to why the AT&T stores are not carrying them around here. Which is strange, because why just NorCal, and not SoCal?

How frustrating... Im going to pick one up in San Diego on a business trip in a few days. I hope they still have some stock by then.
when i went into the corp stores yesterday their reasoning was "it was illegal to sell this phone in california". after some searching on the internets it seems the rumor is apple has some sort of lawsuit with samsung and therefore at&t is not selling the gs2 in stores. who wants to guess that itll be lifted once the iphone5 is out?
Got mine yesterday at the att store in Oceanside. They wouldn't tell me how many they started with, but there was only one left at 5:30. So far, it is amazing. Turned off my old GS. Trying to see how long I can go without rooting...

Spoke with *UPPITY* sales clerk behind the AT&T corporate store in the Suburbs of NYC (Long Island, Hicksville) and was told the following:
"What happened to the Galaxy S II, I don't see it on the sales floor anymore?"
"Sorry it's been replaced by the newer, Skyrocket..."
"Didn't the Galaxy S II just get released a few weeks back @ $199 on October 2nd...?"
"Yes, it's obsolete now because the Skyrocket replaces it @ $149 so it's discontinued..."
I couldn't talk, I couldn't stand the way she just stared at me w/ a cavalier, uncaring look on her face when I exclaimed my displeasure that my brand new Galaxy S II was *DISCONTINUED*...
"Blah blah blah ... I'll be happy to refund the phone for you minus the $35 restocking fee...blah blah blah"
I'm upset at her ATTITUDE she showed, not at the Samsung Galaxy SII.. The Skyrocket is BIGGER, LAGGY and slightly FUZZIER display when compared to my S II SGH-I777 due to the 4.5 SUPERAMOLED screen. No FM radio BUT it does have Visual Voicemail as a built in app...
I ***GLAD*** I picked up my SHG-I777 when I did otherwise, it would be too late. Hopefully this salesclerk is off her rocker when she suggests that the SGH-I777 has been discontinued for any FENCE SITTERS out there... ??!???
My personal TAKE on WHY AT&T dropped the SGH-I777 are two:
1. it's because they don't want to take heat for the HPSA+ vs. 4G (LTE) radio that wasn't on the SGH-I777. Also I played with it on display and I *LOVE* my SLIM S II vs. the Skyrocket
2. Confusion on Joe and Jane public walking into the store, "Look honey, there's the new galaxy Sii for $199 no it's over here called the Skyrocket and it's $50 CHEAPER at $149..." (No TYPO, that's $149.00...)
BTW - I also saw the OTHER LTE phone the HTC (Sorry don't remember the Model # exactly) BUT it does have an ON BOARD FM tuner and HD screen very VERY sharp gives the iphone a better run for the money and I *think* it might be a slightly better display than the SGH-I777
Whew what a mouthful! At any rate, still LOVING and ROCKIN' my SGH-I777 don't have any regrets or buyer's remorse... Hopefully this will be a helpful read for one or two people out there...

I think the clerk was b.s.'ing you because the corporate store here still had S2 for sale and they claimed they will continue to sell it for some time to come. I agree about the HTC Vivid screen, it was quite nice.
I was told by Best Buy manager today that they pulled the OGSGS2 from the stores
I originally wanted to test out the Skyrocket till my 30days is up and then choose to go back to the OGSGS2, so I had to ask them if they are available...but he said they are being pulled
This might not be the case with AT&T Stores
Their removing it in select lte markets so they can sell more of the skyrocket, don't get the skyrocket horrible battery life and horrible processor

Actually sad about this.
If not many original ASGS2 are sold and no talented developer works on "reoriented" kernels like for Captivate, our ROM choice would be very limited.
It's actually ridiculous to officially discontinue a 1 month old phone, even quicker than HP Touchpad...
its even on the site they may just take it out the store but we will have to see over the next week i really don't see it going anywhere anytime soon
Both phones are showing up on the site, and the Skyrocket is $50 more.
However, a number of leaked documents indicate that to try and push the ****rocket despite it being an inferior expensive device, they are discounting it by $100 and eliminating the I777 in LTE markets.
It may depend on the market it's being sold.

As a matter of fact, one of the memos that we got state that the skyrocket should be able to compliment the galaxy s 2 sales. The sgs2 is one of at&ts best sellers, and there is nothing slated for discontinuation. Any info anyone receives of the contrary, is b/s. Can we please put this rumor to bed now! Mid October, a report came out that Samsung sold 30mil gs2s in 15 days.

I work for a corporate AT&T in South Florida and we actually just received another shipment of the OGSII. We're not an LTE market yet, but for what it's worth we haven't received any notification that they're discontinuing the SGII. She probably just made that up.

At last, voices of reason. Thanks guys for speaking up. Hopefully the Skyrocket will get its own forum soon so these endless threads with nothing but hearsay will have a home to call their own.
he's not in a LTE market. i'm specifically speaking of that, not everywhere.
the stores vary.
here in the LTE market, we didn't even have the OGSGS2 in store, everyone who wanted it had to order it.
I think it was said that it's temporarily discontinued in LTE markets to boost Skyrocket sales. Odd but that's what I was told in the couple stores by me.
Oh well, I got my OSGSII from Best Buy for $99. And I hopefully will get a $100 BB gift card for reward points

Voice of reason, *finally*?!?? Really, did I sound hysterical, was I not reasonable when I created my OP...? I paraphrased my ENTIRE conversation that took place when I walked into my LOCAL corporate AT&T store in Hicksville, NY (516) 935-7770. I was only asking about my current unlimited data plan and also wanted to see the new Skyrocket...
Would you like to know the reason why I bothered to asked the clerk about the SGH-I777this in the first place..., it's because I couldn't find it!!!!
I found the Android section with only 4 Android phones (Skyrocket, HTC, and two others but NO Samsung SGH-I777, so I had to ask...

Thanks Firepac! If you head out EAST *EVER* The AT&T store is in Hicksville, same exit as IKEA, it's in the Walbaum's shopping center next to Liberty Travel agency... it a *NICE* store but NOTHING in comparison to the one in Downtown FLUSHING, NY...
Glad to know that so far, it seems to be isolated to only Hicksville...

Watchung NJ there were 3 people getting it when i arrived and according to the sales rep they had around 20 Note's. By the way this phone is rocks....!
I was at best buy when they opened at 11, I was only one there. While they were activating my note 4 other people came and they were all pre order pick ups. And yes this phone does rock
Called my normal store at about 12:30 after they had been open for 30 minutes. They had not had one request for the phone. I was a bit surprised. I asked him to put a black one (I know it is carbon blue) away for me. I went by at 1 pm and they still had not had any requests for the phones except me. I bought it no commitment. Will try it out for 30 days to see how it compares to my International Version and if LTE makes this worth keeping.

Just picked mine up today and my AT&T store had plenty in stock. Also left Sprint today and and floored by how badly AT&Ts 3.5G speeds destroy the Sprint 4G I had. Bring on LTE. Sure I am paying about $10 more a month but it is worth it to finally have speeds I can use. My previous phone was an Epic 4G Touch so the Note is pretty much just a larger version for me.

I would say that most of the people who were really interested in this phone preordered it to either take advantage of the Friday delivery or the $50 plus free case at Best Buy.
I did see one guy camped out waiting on the iphone 5...

did just that.......after spending like 2 hours on the phone with best buy to cancel my order.....i got my note at the att store....no case no 50 bucks off....but i got it........best buy is backorder and have no idea when they will ship it.....one happy camper....should had initially get it from att in the first place

OH yea, and on Friday once I knew my order wasnt coming and I went to the store, the manager almost convinced me to wait until I recieve it whenever that was. So today I just added the off contract note to one of my other lines and changed nothing to the other line and all I did was throw my sims in it. This was the actual advice from customer service last night. They would waive or credit me any restocking fee once I return the full price off contract note. On top of that I got $50 free in note accessories and $150 credit to my account......and I'm not done yet. By the time I get my preorder delayed note I'll be calling back customer service for more credit for pain and suffering lol. In the end this pre-ordered phone wont have cost me much huh

This has been my experience with every device launch haha....except when the GS2 hit.
went to best buy at 11:15. Went over to the mobile desk thing, said i was here to pick up my phone. they said Maria? my mom said yes and then they said we were the only people getting a note. while i was playing with it about 4 kids said they want that tablet. and i smugly said it was a phone. I love this thing
I was at walmart earlier, casual passed cell phones and saw an evo lte. I thought, wtf? I asked if they had them and they ended up not having it but asked if I wanted them to call another store. I was about to make another errand that would pass another walmart so I said sure. She called and sure enough, in stock! I honestly expected it to just be mis-information and be an evo design, or viper lte/etc.
So i go to the other store, (i-30 and bucker in east dallas) and sure enough, two in stock!
Now the bad news, they couldnt get the system to work for me. They'd put in my info and it would return an error saying information couldnt be retrieved. Girl was very helpful and even called sprint to verify I had an upgrade. No dice though on getting the system to accept it.
I will say, I tried to preorder online and got some dumb error at checkout too. Then wirefly had an error but they were able to solve it, so might just be me.
Sadly, I left without one.. but there is two there for others! Dont overlook wally world!
Agree with that. Also check you local Sams Club as well i think they will have them at the price 147.97 upgrade and new line. So that is where i will be going to get mine on wed. When the national evo day starts.

ah! that reminds me, price at walmart was 158.** i think, possibly 159 but I could almost swear it was 158 which i thought was an odd number.
also, there were literally signs up that said that evo lte was in the weekly ad but not in stock

I just went to a Walmart that had 3 in stock. The lady was going to sell me one. I gave her my number, and I couldn't be found in the system. She said since my number was long distance it wouldn't work.
I've never heard of that, but maybe it's true. I didn't have a lot of time to argue otherwise, so I left without one.

Just want to give thanks for this thread. Was able to get one from Walmart yesterday in Columbia MD.
FYI - Walmart dosen't sell many phones at all so therefore their CSR are clueless to how they sell phones. It took me about an hour to get mine but what saved me for even getting the phone was that I had Sprints backdoor Number in handy and called them 3 times and handed my phone to the CSR Rep so the Sprint Rep could coach him on what to do.
I suggest yall definitely do that if you go to Walmart

Its crazy that Walmart has random stock of these phones while preorders at all major phone vendors haven't been completed (or even started).
I bought mine from dunnellon Florida. It was the only one they had.

Called three Walmarts in my area and that's what they all said.
I got the last one at Walmart in Slidell la. Had to fight some traffic to get it. $171 with tax.

Some do, some don't, just depends. In Orlando most sell Sprint, but one or two don't.
For the last few days the S2 (I777) has shown 'out of stock' on the AT&T website and now is not showing up at all. Has anyone heard any noises about AT&T discontinuing this device?
Mine is performing nicely on CM9 and I was considering purchasing one for my wife as well.

Here in CA you could only purchase online or call in to order. Yet they just had a $9.99 with contract that is how I picked up mine this time. First one I sold and than saw the special and said YES... I just went to look and yes nothing is there it was saying out of stock after the sale. Hmmmmmm
I know Sprint is selling there's for $50.00 with contract my co-worker just picked it up... But hey the l777 is still cooler and sexier...

You may have better luck searching at stores in a non-LTE market - the i777 went AWOL from all the stores as soon as the LTE network went live here in the SF bay area. They were heavily pushing the ****rocket, even though their own maps show that I live outside the planned LTE coverage area (by a few miles).

In my area the i777 hasn't been in stock anywhere for atleast a month now. I was in the same boat when my wife's upgrade came up about a month ago. Nobody had this phone in stock, not even the att store (it was online, but price wasn't conducive). I finally just settled on getting her the i727 (Skyrocket). Its a really nice device. A little bulkier than the i777 but she's had a good experience with it. Just upgraded it to cm10 (she was running cm9 flawlessly since day 1) and its running great. I actually prefer her display
Originally we had planned to sell the Skyrocket and use that to just buy her an i777 outright. But the Skyrocket wound up being a good device. You could always go that route if you don't plan on buying insurance anyways.
I just ordered a new GS2 from ATT. The invoice order I received in my email referred to the GS2 as the "discontinued Samsung Galaxy S(TM) II"
Business strategy to force users to migrate to the Galaxy S3.....instead the Galaxy S2 still is a actual phone...
Go to WalMart they got crazy deals on the S2, if I were u go hunt one now they'll be gone out of stock before you know it!

I just got my SG2 two days ago. When I called AT&T they told me places like radio shack, wal mart, and sams club would be must likely to have this phone. I got mine from sam's club for under $20. Just a thought for you

Walmart had a special about two month's ago for $ .10 for new or upgrade or even add a line. They sold out in less than twenty four hours I was told. Then I saw the $9.99 on ATT said okay gotta have it. Makes sense if ATT was trying to clear the stock for the Skyrocket and S3. Being it seems they are trying to only do LTE these days.
I am thrilled I got it though.

Hello all,
I just got back from the local AT&T store (Vancouver, WA. Actual branch) and they had no idea about the HOX+, let alone any in stock. When I told the lady that it was released today, she looked in her iPad and found no release date. Then she did a horrible Google search and found a blog post from Oct 2 that didn't have any definitive dates. I just checked the actual AT&T site and it is there, ready for purchase. I also called a Best Buy in Portland, OR and they had no idea either. When they put out a press release launching a product, is that subject to regional rollout? I'm pretty sure when they released the GS3 or iPhone, they had them in stock.
Pretty frustrating overall.
Who has been able to buy them from AT&T here in the states?

Interesting. Which store was it exactly? I called the Best Buy Mobile store at Clackamas Town Center and they had no idea. I'd prefer to buy it at Best Buy if I could (better return policy/price matching), but would settle for something in Portland (no sales tax).

My local ATT in Baltimore had no idea what the phone was... But they did try to talk me into the iPhone 5 so at least I got a good laugh. Probably try Bestbuy this weekend.

Got mine today at a AT&T company store in Bakersfield, CA. The salesperson that greeted me did not think it was out but the manager overheard and said they had just arrived this afternoon and directed us to the display model he had just set up. Looked at the LG Optimus G and the Sony TL (James Bond phone) but the One X+ was the one for me.
i went in about a month ago after it was announced and the sales rep at the att store stated they wouldn't get one until next year. I went in on tuesday once online preorders went up and they were all clueless.I just pre-ordered it online and got it today. I was only charged 199 with no tax si i was excited about that.
I walking into a corporate store to ask, but I had to convince the sales guy to look it up on AT&T's own web site to prove it was real. I may try another store tomorrow.
Picked up the last one last night here outside Harrisburg PA. Well...don't have it yet (long story) but they put it aside for me and I'm going to go pick it up now!
I stopped and picked mine up this morning no issues.

Slow Roll Out
Appears to be rolling out slowly. I talked to a guy at one store in Rochester, NY area and they only got a display unit. I went to another store in the mall and they had several. Both of these were corporate stores and not authorized dealers.
It is certainly no iPhone launch! At the mall location they did not even have the display unit out. I had to wait for them to get it out and open it up to see. I am sure I was the first to buy at this store.
