Evo incompatible with games. What to do? - HTC EVO 3D

Just about to check out a sale with Gameloft, when I noticed that their selection for the Evo3D isn't that great.
I figured that I could click another phone that has the same chipset for a bigger selection. Something like the Sensation, since they're pretty much the same.
Anyone have experience with this? Buying and downloading a game for another phone, with no problems?
I guess the Sensation is the best to use, but has anyone tried using a different one? I think there are also a few older HTC models and Sony-Ericsson phones with similar Snapdragon SOCs no?

I got these games working just fine on my device..
Nova 2 HD
9mm Hd
Rainbow Six HD v1.0.1
Assasin's Creed 3D v1.0.4 (I bought this one)
Modern Combat 2 v3.3.2
Fast 5 v1.0.3
Hawx v3.2.5
BackStab HD v1.2.2 (although some maps didn't work so I couldn't continue the game)
Some of these games are for HTC Desire I dint purchase any of those but the AC3D... and they work just fine.... the latest one I got was 9mm HD I believe it say it was for HTC Sensation...

Thanks, so you downloaded the Desire and Sensation versions? Cool... But these are, ehm, from the eh, alternative market, yeah?

If you change the user agent on your phone to the user agent of the Sensation, you can trick Gameloft's site into thinking you actually have a Sensation, so you can download their games. Only do the Sensation since it's one of the few phones that has the same resolution as the Evo 3D.

Yeah I use some of the desire but know that I didnt purchase them so I had to download like 5 different apk for each game in order to find the one that work for me..

Thanks!
You can do that in Opera, right? I use that browser to download, since my stock browser has some problems downloading stuff that I don't get in Opera.
BTW: You use Sprint, right? Do you know something called: "sai://Sprintinstaller"?
Cause I just tried to take advantage of Gamelofts 99 cents sale, and gave my location as US even though Im in Europe. (Sale was yanks only, apparently) That link game up to download the game, and I couldn't get it to work, so I guess they assumed I'm on Sprint? Which is why I couldn't get the download to work?
Sucks, cause now I have to download it through their website, but I guess that's the price of saving 4 dollars

Are you guys getting these through the market or do you have to go on their website?
They are purchased through the gameloft site, not the market
However, keep a copy of the downloaded files. I did a factory reset and the web site doesn't list them as part of my downloads. Best to buy games from the market, I guess. Gameloft wants a bit more info than my time is worth, or no doubt I could get it fixed.

Since they don't have an option for AT&T, what carrier do you select when you buy the game from the web site? Or does it matter? thanks
@NFHimself modern combat doesnt work from me, i got a link from the gameloft supoort service, since the game just closes after i skip the video
Bought black pegasus from website. Worked for me. Modern combats in the market now

Also noticed on the website half the time it says my phone not supported and the rest of time list a few games. Im rooted also not sure if that matters at website but needed to sideload the downloads from website.

they send me aother link, that one worked ^^
Modern Combat 2: Black Pegusus works great on my Atrix. Waiting for N.O.V.A. 2 to be released for it.

After messing with me phone a bit, the whole re download part of gameloft is screwy for my purchases, I don't know what firmware I bought what with, and the site detects your phone to determine what games you are allowed to get. Not sure if it's all Gameloft's fault since they had a 2 for 1 sale on 3 games that I used twice, so the site kept telling me to download a free game I already had installed, they them updated the website. Also Nova refuses to download content, support sent me a link for a new download, no diff. I lost let's golf 2 altogether, support ignores me on that one. Annoying, I would stay away from any games that are not from the market if you are into changing firmware/themes/wallpaper/display brightness, OK, maybe not the last 2. And backup whatever you get, however restoring the data doesn't guarantee that the game will use it. It's hit or miss with Gameloft. Makes me want to go to pirate bay to get copies of my purchased games. Not that I have been playing any of them lately, lol.
The NVIDIA pinball game is interesting, paper 3d glasses support.
Cheers!
Ok i am a little confused here. When i got to the site on my phone it says it isnt supported. When i go through the browser, there arent any ATT phones listed ( i assume its because they block sideloading). Can i just choose tmobile, download the apk, sideload it on my phone, and it work? Really wanting dungeon hunter 2. Has anyone had success w/ downloading from the above method?
hi im new here (been creeping as anonymous for a week now lol)
Might anyone have experience with gameloft apk files working on the atrix?
I use sideload wonder machine to install them to my phone
but they all require additional download when i open the app
that usually fails (dungeon hunter 2, eternal legacy, nova)
or it completes and then theres missing pictures all over, like white and the game crashes after a bit.
ive found some files that contains both the apk and a zip folder.
im assuming the zip is for the "additional download" but i have no idea how to install them.
solutions anyone?

lol, i used SWM too. works awesomely.
umm, also had the install freeze glitch. it only freezes when your phone goes into sleep mode or when you try to multitask while its installing.
solution is to go into settings, disable the screen timeout so the screen doesnt turn off (and so your phone doesnt autosleep) and just leave your phone plugged into the wall socket while downloading over wifi. worked for me.
currently trying gt racing. it looks good, but lots of jaggies. antialiasing would be nice, but given our atrix's higher resolution, i dont think it would have enough grunt to run AA (ignoring the fact that tegra 2 doesnt seem to do AA).
sadly, the only way i have found to get any games working is through mobilism (bad word?). i guess if they want my money, they'll open up to att now that the 3rd party sources is open. or is that when official 2.3.4 comes out? idk, it's whatever, the atrix has a very limited amount of gameloft choices anyways. they probably have versions for our phones, but the atrix is kinda unique in it's design. does anybody else know of a non-att, qvga, tegra device? when one does land or maybe when ginger lands officially we'll get versions for our phone made available.
Asphalt 6 runs very well. And dungeon hunter 2 works too. I've bought Nova too once but I gave up the idea of installing it because the gameloft's politic on purchases sucks.
And I much prefer my emulators! I have a bunch of em working smoothly you should try fpse, it's great!

Johansson,
how did you get Asphal 6 to run? When i tried installing the tree's are black. In 3D terms alpha channels in textures aren't rendered correctly. =\
Which version of dungeon hunter did you use?

Scummvm on android

For any people who miss the old pc point and click adventure games like maniac mansion, Monkey Island 1-3, Day of the Tentacle, Sam & Max, King's Quest 1-6, Space Quest 1-5,Discworld 1 and 2, Simon the Sorcerer 1 and 2, Beneath A Steel Sky, Lure of the Temptress, Broken Sword 1 and 2, Flight of the Amazon Queen, Gobliiins 1-3, The Legend of Kyrandia 1-3 etc.
There is an app that works on android that will let you play these right on your atrix get it here. http://www.scummvm.org/ then go grab the add ons found in the market.
This has been around for awhile but I wasn't sure how many people knew this actually worked on our phones. I've tested a good portion of these and most work. I even had 7th guest running on this at one point!! The only thing that was off slightly was the sound.
And don't forget Full Throttle

Any news on gameloft plans to port their games on evo 3d?

We can see since the launch of the lg optimus 3d that more and more games from gameloft are ported to stereoscopic 3d on the device. They got a partnership with gameloft, but did gameloft plan to release those games on our evo 3d?
Yes I know we can try some of them with the correct apk, but I rather prefer to buy them for my device.
I'm confused, all of Gamelofts games are available in 3D for the Evo 3D. Gameloft does not like the market. They prefer you buy the games direct from them so very few are posted in the market. If you haven't removed all of the bloatware from your phone, there is an icon called 3d games, click on it and it will take you directly to the 3D games page from Gameloft.
Well, I'm confused too, there is no 3d games icon on my device, I got the french gsm version of the evo 3d, maybe the rom shipped apps are different. When I try on the gameloft page to buy any games it tell me that my device cannot support the application.
Tried :
Avatar 3d
spiderman 3d
sacred odysey
I cant buy any of these games.

Last time I looked, there were only a few games for the EVO3D and all of them are in 3D. I agree with the OP. There are only 5 games available. I paid for Order and Chaos (MMORPG) up to Jan 2012 and can no longer play the game since I upgraded to the EVO3D. As well, I would love to play both Dungeon Hunter and Dungeon Hunter II (Non-3D) on my EVO3D.
I have many Gameloft games on my iPad2, but only a few of these games are available for the EVO3D. None of the non-3D versions are available. I purchased Asphalt 6 3D and decided that I am no longer buying the 3D versions. It just kills my eyes. Yes, you can turn down the 3D effect, but you can't really turn it all the way off.
Here is what I don't understand. If you go to the Gameloft website, there are only 5 games that are listed as working on the EVO3D. If you check the Sensation, there are 9. Not sure why they can't put those 9 games under the EVO3D also. Almost the same specs: processor, qHD resolutions, etc. The EVO3D does have a little more RAM though.
Sorry, I thought 8 games were pretty good seeing the demand for 3d in the market has to be less the 1% of users. I am currently running 7 games from gameloft for the sensation also on my Evo 3D. They all play great. Look around and you will find the solution.
What solution? buy the sensation version? As I said before, I prefer to not use cracked apk.

I prefer to buy my games too, but if Gameloft isn't smart enough to make the HD games for the Sensation available to Evo 3d users than they don't deserve my money either. When they finally do make them available I will pay for the games that I like playing. Until then, the cracked ones rock.
Did you managed to get sacred odyssey or shadow guardian working on the evo without chainfire3d?
For the momment, I can't use chainfire, damn gsm evo3d, but I keep my faith on our beloved developpers to get the root done before htc's tool. Love you guys !

How do you trick the market?

There's a build prop mod in the general that doesn't work for me, so I searched another thread and tried to change the ro.product name and I still get ''device not compatible''.
Has anybody tricked the market to download an app not made for the 3D successfully? I'm trying to get the N.O.V.a game.
By the way, Modern Combat 3 is on sale for .99 cents. Go get it!
Fixed! Looks like they used the Nexus S model. Awesome!
But I don't get it. I got nova for the 3d
Sent From My Optimized HTC 3D Dimension
Don't know what to tell ya man. The two games, N.O.V.A and Block Breaker, refused to install stating that my phone is not compatible.
It was kicking my butt until a few hours ago. Maybe it's because of the ROM I'm on? Not sure.
has anybody been able too get gta 3 on their evo 3d ????
been an issue for me in the past on my 3d the og evo my desire and on my faccy. I changed build prop LCD density to get a bigger looking screen and its always broken compatibility for various apps in the market. Use your computer got to www.market.android.com I think it is, and push the app to your device it should install and work fine.

[Q] Windows games on the evo 3d?

well, with all the game devs porting games (gta3 for example, its a direct port of the pc version, you can stil use all the mods and cheats on it) i was wondering: how is it done, and can it be done for any game? well, there is one game which i would pay money for to have on my htc evo 3d: Star Wars: knights of the old republic. if anyone could port this or tell me how i could seriously give them money as i would lovelovelovelove this game on my evo 3d. any dev who could do it name a reasonable price, send me a video of you playing it at a normal speed, tell me how you did it, and ill pay you.

I'm sure it's possible for any game, but you have to think about processing power. GTA3 was a ps2 game, released in 2001, and it can BARELY run on most android devices now.

One, as stated above, that game will probably never run on an android device. And two, you are asking a LOT. It would take a team of people months, if not over a year to get it working.
Have you tried installing a bochs emulator and installing the game on the image lol :-D
Be nice to see doom the original.
Sent from the Reaper
Doom would probably be possible people already have it running on Playstation Portable if I remember correctly they even had Quake II working and I'd bet money the EVO 3d is more powerful than a PSP.
I had Doom running on my iPod Nano 1G with iPod Linux. Doom is possible and easy to port (from a developer's perspective) because it is open source and the game engine code is readily available. GTA III is closed-sourced. Rockstar did not port the game themselves; a different company did. Rockstar is the publisher and distributer.
Well, i could play the original KOTOR on a comp with much much much lower specs then my evo, and yes i tried bochs but it sucked. gta3 works swimmingly on my evo 3d, and its ported from the pc version not the ps2. thats why pc cheats work. so, as i said, any dev able could really earn some money.
Please stay on topic, i was talking about KOTOR not Doom.

I used to play the old Doom on my MOTO ROKR E6. The phone was great with only 312Mhz Intel PXA 270 processor and 4MB RAM and 8MB internal memory. It was also able to play NES,SNES,PSX,GBA etc on full speed. Duke Nukem, couter strike and old DOOM were ported to it more than 4 years ago. It was also able to run some windows versions using DosBOX. The phone was expandable upto 2GB but a kernel made it to support 32GB sdcards as well...........
The only reason for such compatibility that I can think of is that all those apps were designed to make use of the CPUs full potential.
@Arthurln3D
Try Critical strike from Android games section.....works great.
I highly doubt that the 3Ds processor and GPU are powerful enough to handle games like StarWars.
The Xperia Ray with a single core @ 1GHz play GTA 3 flawlessly, but the Gta 3 lags like hell if we run it on the 3D with both cores @ 500Mhz (Same game DATA was used in both phones)
IMO Evo 3D @ one core will lose to single core Xperias......

But porting a game to another device often requires emulation, which requires about 2-3 times the processing power as the original game did.
So again, just to be clear, unless you have say $50,000 or more to pay a team of workers, this isn't going to happen.

Which GTA are you talkin about? The old old one or the newest one? I know it would take awhile to build and port it over if you start from scratch on the touch input and everything else graphic wise...
