Glimpse app built-in browser is so much faster in loading web pages than the stock or advance browser. Has anyone noticed
I was under the impression that Glimpse just opened the stock browser in one of it's own window panes.. i.e. it still uses the stock browser. Is this not correct?

The developer said that it is separate from the stock browser. Test it compare to the stock and Advanced browser's speed. Not sure why the glimpse web browser loads the web pages faster which is great for web browsing.
Interesting, but Glimpse itself takes so long to load it wouldn't be worth using it unless it's always left open.

I've run into an issue where I'm unable to get any full version sites to load on my atrix. I've used both the stock browser and dolphin HD and can't seem to get it to work. With the stock browser I've done the about:config changes to desktop and with dolphin hd I've tried switching the agent to desktop, yet still have problems. I even tried the dolphin toggles addon for dolphin which just displays the mobile regardless of swapping.
Anyone have any ideas?
Some sites just wont do it... thats about all I can say. Im sure its a moto issue due to the fact that my cappy can load the same sites in full mode.
had the same problem, Install Firefox (In Market) solved all of my complaints with the browser.
some sites will not do it and if they do they will have a link for it at the bottom of the page. For instance some say "Desktop" or others will have the title of the page like ESPN.COM. clicking any of these will pull up the full site. Firefox mobile is a good solution but does not have Flash so if you don't mind that then FF mobile it is!

Dolphin does indeed have flash. Dolphin HD.
Skyfire is nice and fast
properly open up pages like facebook, myverizon, here, etc.
i've tried Dolphin HD, Skyfire, Opera Mobile, Maxthon.
they all seem to have some sort of issue or another, not so much with simply displaying the page... but interaction with the page.
for instance i'll have issues where i'm trying to reply to something and the display will get stuck over to the side and i can't view what i want to unless i zoom out.
another thing is if i'm doing some sort of flash based form & click on a field to modify, it does not bring up the keyboard.
does anyone have a suggestion on one that does work properly?

Blame adobe and flash for that, not the browser. The browser is just a wrapper for flash and can't do much to actually interact with it.
I use miren browser and opera

I just started using Maxthon. I'm not really a fan on non-stock browsers, but I really like this one. FireFox can't seem to work wrap or scale a page to save it's bytes, which I thought they'd have fixed back in beta days... but they didn't. I don't know about the rest. It's a mobile browser though. I accept there's going to be shortcomings. Just be glad you're not stuck with the BlackBerry browser. EEYAAWWOO...
Anyone else think android browser and even Dolphin are still somewhat laggy in ICS Opera smooth as butter.

I'm constantly switching between stock and opera atm...I like stock for quick controls so I have a full page of viewing and for flash but it seems like it stops responding frequently and then you click wait and then the browser is immediately responsive, I love opera for its fluidity and the start page but no flash is killing me

Opera mobile is by far faster and smoother IMO.... major issue is that imbedded youtube vids will still not play in opera mobile. Quite the annoyance. Without that it would be perfect.
Opera mobile still the best n fastest. crazy thong is we just got a flash update the other day which is to support ICS and flash still doesn't work right on opera. Opera mobile on my Atrix plays flash the best out of the other browsers I have on there.
Why does it seem that Opera mobile is the only one wth flash not working? I know one thing, Opera way overdue for an update as they haven't had one since November..lmao

Not me...pinch to zoom, scrolling and load times are faster on both stock and dolphin for me. Opera doesn't seem to use hw acceleration yet....unless I am using the wrong version?

If this is the case then Primes are the most inconsistent device I have ever seen..... My stock browser will pause for a full second sometimes before I can start scrolling whereas Opera seems to load almost instant and I can start scrolling right away.
Opera mobile is better but lacks flash. Also using the google search from the top bar always defaults to mobile, which I really hate, so I don't use it
Also thought I would share, for me flash works in opera but its wonky in order to see what your watching you have to click on it once to activate it, then click it again so it starts playing then you must be magical and click the expand to full screen button without seeing it and it will work just fine. I keep seeing ppl saying flash doesn't work, it does but not correctly they need to update soon tho

Anything that lacks flash sux by default. Not being able to watch special movies on my tablet gets a no go from me
For me, the stock browser was so much worse than Dolphin HD that I couldn't stand it for a second. For me Dolphin and Opera performed the same, and I dumped Opera.
ye opera is smoother then the stock browser of ICS... the stock browser will get stuck at loading pages for a few sec.
But the stock browser has more options then opera. Hope they will update the browser in the next OTA.
Q. Does opera support flash player like (own3d.tv) cause its not working for me... while the stock browser plays without prob.

You can easily change the default search engine from the ugly mobile Google site to the full one: Just go to the google.com desktop site, long click on the search box and select "add search engine" (amazing feature of Opera btw as it works with pretty much every other search box on any website as well). Then you have to hit Opera's search box at the top and hit the small google icon in the left and you can choose which search engine you want to use, including the just added full Google search.
On Honeycomb I use the stock browser 90% of the time which is smoother, has the quick controls and also the better rendering. But I'm really curious how both the stock browser and Opera Mobile will change when ICS finally hit my TF101, but I think I will still use the stock one more which should be improved again.

Thanks for this tip. It works to a certain extent, but it seems like it's impossible to set the new Google search option to be the default. Any workaround for this?

Let us know how you like Boat Browser. I initially used Boat Browser Mini on my Evo 3D and was blown away by how smooth it is. I love the simple UI. I'm kind of surprised that it isn't more popular by now.
Very impressive browser, it uses hardware acceleration on ICS making it pretty much lag free. Also supports tabs, themes, flash, full screen, etc.
Currently its my default browser.
cool i've been using dolphin so far, will check out xscope
+1 xscope works great on TFP with ICS
It definitely is faster than the other browsers and i've tried quite a lot !
But i don't like the look of it... stock browser with hardware acceleration would be ideal for me !
I am trying it right now. VERY fast. Love the text reflow also.
Unfortunately, I got WAY to used to the quick controls on the stock browser, so the preferences bar and stuff just seem archaic. As long as im on a page, im happy, but once im moving to another tab or something, im wishing i was on another browser.
all in all, a positive experience, but can use a little work
Tip: if the UI of the browser is slow, make sure to turn off the animations in options.
Thanks for the heads up on this browser. I am liking it so far!
I use ICS browser+ it has all the good things from stock browser like HW acceleration and quick controls but is about 20 million times faster and no crashes
Too many browsers out there to compare already. Might eventually check it out. STOCK browser, opera mobile, and boat browser are the high performers for me now. I already have 5 different browsers constantly comparing..lol

I've had all of those installed and this browser is waaaay faster then any of them. I also love the feature of hitting the menu button to go full screen instantly.
Does Flash work properly in this browser? This is definitely a weakness in Opera...

Hi, I'm not searching for the speedest one or something like that, i'm searching for one browser that have zoom if my thumb press 2 link .. (like Chrome) and the one which is offering better text rendering .. and also one which doesn't use much battery (because Chrome is a non go for battery .. it's killing my battery)

This'll probably get locked or merged into another thread, but I'll give my opinion anyway.
I like Dolphin. Chrome and Firefox do weird things with text sizes on various pages. Especially forums. One post will have GIGANTIC TEXT, while the next will have tiny text, almost arbitrarily, it seems. I want to like Firefox on my phone, especially since I use Firefox on my computer, but I just can't. And Chrome doesn't support Flash, so screw that.
So I use Dolphin. Text gets formatted properly, you can block ads (even without root), it supports Flash, etc. It's not the fastest - in fact it's one of the slowest when it comes to benchmarks, but once things render, I find that it's the most complete mobile browser.
I can't speak for Opera, or most other browsers for that matter. I tried Puffin briefly (it's been a while though), and although it's supposedly the fastest, the interface and navigation sucks, or at least it did back then. I've downloaded CM browser, but haven't played much with it yet. Honestly, I miss the ICS browser on my old Droid Razr Maxx (with Flash, of course).
