Flashing the EVO 3D to different CDMA carriers is done through a radio level interface.
Rooting the device and flashing ROMs/kernels should *NOT* interfere with the actual radio level programming of the carrier.
The only impact will be for 3G/data browsing and MMS as those are both handled through the ROM. Loading a ROM not configured for your carrier might break 3G/data and MMS.
Hope that helps clarify!
thanks for the answer joey
Can i backup my MMS/3g/data and other settings using any software (windows/android) or by any codes that show the info so i can write somewhere..
after backing up all settings how can i restore it to different roms?

So if I have a EVO 3D already flashed to Cricket and I root it through the HTC Unlock method which resets the phone will I have to have it reflashed to Cricket?
No reflashing required.......I'm on 1.50 rooted and love it....Go for it

And even if I run a RUU it will work on Cricket?
Okay I ran the RUU and rooted it. Everything else still works with Cricket.
Next question...can I flash any ROM & kernel now? Or do only certain ones work with Cricket?
I am selling my evo 3d to a cricket customer and was wondering what rom I flash for cricket. Thanks

You can flash all the CDMA ROMs you want, Just don't expect your phone to ever work again. You have a GSM phone, so you can ONLY flash GSM ROMs. Once again, CDMA=Death to your phone. GSM= Happy phone sexytime
ok i got that.. Because my friend used to flash cdma and gsm roms to his Samsung galaxy without any problem so i thought its same.. ok I have one more question .. my HB is 1.490011 but its still s-on and thats why I cant flash kernals ,so there is any way I can s-off?

No, not yet. You would be ok flashing a cdma rom on your phone, it would just bootloop until you went gsm. If you're s-off, and you flash a cdma radio on your gsm phone, you can just throw it in the trash. Do a little reading to find the difference between the two before you start flashing stuff.

First of all DO NOT update while rooted. You will lose root and maybe mess up some things. And secondly, even if you have a Sprint phone I don't think you can officially update it from India.I think you must be in the US to do so.Me and my brother both have the 3D's.He is unrooted, updated.I DID NOT update and remained rooted.Root is better.I encourage you to do so.

you won't lose root if you install from recovery.and there are some bug free ics roms as well.(BUT with sense 3.6 not sense 4.0).I don't know to recommend you a specific one because I have GSM and obviously I didn't spent much time in the CDMA subforum. But you can look at some CDMA ICS sense 3.6 ROMS because they are bug free.
I honestly like better SENSE 4.0 even though has the wi-fi theter and 3D bugs

I have no problems with d3rpICS. I'd recommend giving it a try.

In all honesty if you want your phone to work right I'd stay on gingerbread. Every ics I've used so far has had bugs and some may be stable but they aren't where they should be yet. It's a suggestion that people can agree or disagree with

More than likely its user error. I've posted there are a few stable ics roms to choose from.

Agreed. I've been running MeanRom ICS as a daily driver for a while now. No problems with 4g or 3d.
Everything works so well I don't really care about a Sprint release. Well...maybe a little, but not much.

Hi Sumesh,
It seems like a lot of us are interested in equipping our Evo3Ds for Reliance. If you have some time, would you mind listing down the process?
I'm sure you could link the root and hboot methods, so you wont have to type it all.
Thanks,

I'm guessing it is just a typo on your part, but the EVO 3D CDMA variant will not do GPRS.

I mean to say, when i bought the phone initial carrier was SPRINT later I unlocked it for Reliance. Now I am not able to access mobile internet.
Although i have activated Internet pack from service provider, am not able to access internet.
Am not able to see "APN" or "Mobile network names" under Mobile network.

I'm not sure but I'll take a stab and say 2 things.
1. If you are on a stock Sense ROM, go to the dialer and enter ##DATA# and then enter your phone's MSL. THen you can edit the Data settings for your carrier.
2. Maybe this is what CDMA workshop, or whatever it is called does. Try looking at some of the threads for changing a Sprint phone to Cricket or Boost and just change the APN and other carrier specific information to your carrier.
Hi blu88, were you able to get your evo 3d to work with reliance? If so, can you please share the steps?

I just bought a EVO LTE flashed to boost mobile. I want to s-off so I can flash the new JB firmware... I am wondering if anyone has achieved s-off with their flashed phone with ill results? I am hesitant because i currently own an evo 3d, and when s off finally came out for the 3d, it completely erased my flash to boost, and I had to get the phone reflashed... Before I attempt this, I want to make sure it is not gonna mess up my flash like it did on my 3d... anyone have any experience?
anybody? I know for evo 3d users, even ones who were on sprint had issues after s off and had to get their phones re programmed. Has anybody experienced any issues after s off? boost or sprint?
I think the phone would have to be s-off to flash to boost in the first place so are you sure it is really s-on? Maybe it has the s-on spoof bootloader. How would you s-on a phone and still maintain boost mobile? Also I believe if you try and s-off you will end up on sprint
A few people used the dirty racoon and it resets your phone to the sprint network

thanks for the replys... I checked the bootloader, and it says its locked, and s on... guess Ill have to wait until I can flash JB from a custom recovery

Definitely after updating to Jelly Bean you will have to get you phone reflashed to boost. Mms will likely be borked at the least if not re flashed to boost. Had that issue on my 3d

I just bought a brand new Virgin Mobile Evo V 4G model # PG86100 .
Ive searched this thread, not much has came up on the evo v.
Im assuming rooting and unlocking is the same steps as the Evo 3d?
as well as flashing etc?
If this has been posted before... it must be buried deep ...

You can use this guide which includes support for the Evo V 4G.
If you are still on the stock ROM and haven't rooted yet, you can download and install the OTA from the system updates section of settings on your phone if you haven't already, then proceed to Step2 of the guide.

Yes, after you downgrade your hboot from 1.57 you should be able to flash and boot most any ROM for the Evo 3D/V except the stock ROM and one or two Sense ROM's that require the 1.57/1.58 hboot.
Just be aware that the Sprint ROM's usually need to be modified for some carrier specific stuff like MMS to work properly.
