[Q] scrabble free will not install on flashback rom - G Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I assume that everybody is having he same problem given the popularity of Scrabble, but I can't get Scrabble to install on Flashback **I have tried the spare parts thing and I have downloaded an apk to try to side load. It simply says that the install was not successful. Does anybody have any ideas?

just a question, are you installing from the market or amazon?

I don't see it on Amazon, but I have side loaded it and downloaded from market. Weird thing is that it will say installing and then it will say installation not successful. I think it has something to do with the app checking pixels before installing, but I am not sure.

Ok, I inserted a 1g Micro SD card and Scrabble has installed from the Market. I am not sure how that helped, but it was just a hunch and it worked. Now Scrabble Free opens in the top left quadrant in a very small area. I assume that the screen pixels are incorrect for the game. Any ideas on how to make Scrabble come to full screen?

so i installed it last night from the marketplace on Flashback. The problem you had with installing I had also with FB but that was with 8.0. On the upgrade to 8.1 I didn't get that error any more.
also forgot i get the tiny screen as well in the top right and it looks like it's not optimized for tablets yet

Thanks, I have not upgraded to 8.1 yet, I am a bit of a noob and don't know quite how to update without loosing all of my apps and settings. I can install a new ROM, but I haven't had to upgrade.
Anyway, Scrabble works on my Acer A500, but I guess the Gtab won't simply resize the screen like the Acer does. Guess I have to wait for a tablet version of Scrabble.

[Q] App for Sirius/XM Radio

Has anyone found a way to get Sirius/XM working on an Android Tablet? I have an Archos 70 and I downloaded the Sirius/XM app from their website and it does not work on the tablet. It just signs in forever until you cancel it or the device goes to sleep. I tried the app from the Canadian site too because I read it was a differnt version but it does the same thing.
Not sure why it would work on a droid phone but not a droid tablet running the same OS but I was hoping someone figured out an alternate way to do this or a fixed app for the tablet. This is about the only thing I haven't been able to do with this tablet. Any info is appreciated.
Same issue
I have been wondering the same thing..the app looks great, I don't see why it won't work, no error or anything just never comes up and takes you back to the login screen. The only thing I could come up with is the screen size, during the login its also supposed to be downloading the channel art, etc, maybe its an incompatibility with the screen layout but it seems like it would be a good place for an error message of some kind.
I hate to say it, but I believe this is a measure that Sirius implemented to make sure that this app is only being used by "authorized" devices. The "checking for updates" screen that I and everyone else seems to be getting stuck on is likely their way of making this app a "protected app."
I just hope that there are enough fans of both Sirius and the Android tablets that someone will make a hack or a work-around to get this app working. It works great on my Incredible, but I would LOVE to have it working on my A70.
Just installed the Sirius XM app on my Vizio Tablet with the same results.
What is crazy is that : siriusxm.com / player loads fine with Flash.
But there's no way for me to enter my login and password into the Flash text boxes. They don't seems to be recognized by Android OS as text entry areas.
I'm running 10.3 of the Adobe Flash plugin on my Vizio Tablet.
I realize this is an old thread but I figured a way to make it work. I simply installled the app on my rooted phone. Then I copied the com.siriusxm.apk to a sd card. Put the sd card in my tablet and copied it to the local folder. Tapped on it to install it and shazam.
Screencap of it working?

Okay, so first I have to have a rooted phone? I have a G1 I am not using, could I use that?
Where do I find the com.siriusxm.apk? I have Linda Manager on the G1, do I find it in the application's folder?
Just tap to install the mentioned file and it should install? Then fire up the Sirius/XM app, log-in and it will work?
Thanks, I'm in the market for a Archos 43 now that the price has dropped. This "trick" might work on the Samsung Galaxy Players that just came out as well.
Im wondering if you put the opened version you took off your rooted phone here would we be able to use it?
would be a great help. My problem is that my account is in the states but im living in canada.
Have you tried the newer SIRIUSXM 2.0 app. They use it with their new LYNX radio which is android based.
no I haven't. They won't even let me download it here in Canada even tho my account is based in the states.

FINALLY !!!!!!
I finally have a working copy of this app on my Xoom. It is in the play store under SiriusXM Internet Radio. It says May 3rd, 2012, version 2.0.0.62. I upgraded from an older non working version today just for the hell of it and to my surprise it logged in and I was listening for a good hour or 2 without interruption. My Xoom will definitely get more use now.

Why does my market not show everything?

Using bionix. Why is it that on some rom installs of the SAME rom it will show everything in the market, and other time it will not? When i first installed bionix i THOUGHT i had no problem viewing what i should be able to see. My example is gonna be Mega Jump, it downloaded through market and installed fine. Used a couple other roms, came back to bionix, now Mega Jump does not show up. My fingerprint is from the stock eclair, and i changed it to stock froyo, not that it was working with either one anyways to see if maybe it was only showing me 2.1 apps. Everything in the build.prop looks good so not sure where to go from here!
open titanium backup
look for Market
click it and wipe cache/data
still in TB, press menu > More > market doctor
let it fix any issues
go to the market and accept
go to my apps...
good?
Thanks for the quick reply!! I forgot all about seeing that option in titanium backup. Though it did link up alot of apps that i have gotten from other places, i dont think it fixed my main problem. My "control" Mega Jump still does not show up in my installed apps or even in a market search.
Should not help, but can't hurt...
Settings > Applications > All > Market (clear data/cache).
reboot
open Market, accept.. good?
I actually did that in conjunction with your previous directions! Did it again by itself and still no luck. This is not that big of a deal but i do feel like i could miss out on great apps that i may never hear/know about unless i saw them in the market.
Well, I was going to see if you could see/install it from the web market (http://market.android.com/) but it appears to be down for me... could be work pc.
I know quadarant has an enterprise and something "else" edition other than standard, are those in the market also? Cause nothing shows up for me besides standard. Thats one i been wondering about in general

Its your work pc but i am trying my android browser now...
When i do a search, it just opens up the actual market app and gives me the same skewed results UGH
You know....
Have you thought that this may be one of the malware apps google removed from the market this weekend?
"Mega Jump" does not show any results for me also. Who was the developer? Have ALL of their apps been pulled?

Not sure who the developer is but it's a huge/popular game. It's in the top 5 (at least it used to be) games for the IOS platform, and it now has a android version. So it's definitely not malware or anything. When i brought this phone home last week and wiped stock and put bionix on, it was in the market. Now that i have put a few other roms on, odin'd back, and put the setup EXACTLY how it was before, my market is not showing all apps But i do see things like adobe flash player, which means that i AM seeing copy-protected **** right? Maybe it's just this one app?
I dont think anyone ever answered my question about quadrant either...i know there is a standard, enterprise, and something else version. Are all three supposed to be in the market? Only standard shows up for me. I was actually interested in buying the paid version but there is no way to do it within the app so i just figured it SHOULD be on the market???
Alright... I'm apparently having the same issues then. I know there was an update to the market recently, but now you have me scratching my head. I do not have Mega Jump, and I only have Quadrant Std.

Any idea if the other two versions of quadarant are being offered on the market?
This may be straying off topic here, but from what i have read...the market "fingerprint" from build.prop is ONLY used to verify you have a supposed "real stock" rom and not a custom one? Or is it actually used for more than that, and the fact that our fingerprints are still on 2.1 (why is that when 2.2 exists for these devices, why wouldn't we use the newest?)...maybe thats why some things are not showing...
I called two of my friends one with a nexus one, one with the g2, both have megajump in there market.

[Q] Any news on a new market fix?

I've searched, and I'm pretty sure this is a fairly recent problem. The market fix that sounded like to worked great doesn't anymore since the last week or so. I used arctools to install the market, but most apps I want, the ones I have used on my phone, do not show up.
I've tried the market fix according to what I've read and seen in youtubes. Doesn't work, and then I've seen others saying the same thing.
Any chance of a workaround? I just got an Archos 101, and without the market apps I like, I think it's a dealbreaker. Thanks for any help.
you could try changing the build.prop properties to GALAXY tab, (chulri method)
but first you need to root the archos (chulri method)
If, as you say, you already have them on your phone, then back them up on your phone and copy the .apk's to your Archos - it's the simplest method
Since a few weeks, the market fix on my A70 2.1.8 doesn't work.
I did a reset and downgrade from 2.3.20 to 2.1.8 and reinstalled the market, but still, the fix doesn't work.
But I see apps like Gun Bros without an other fingerprint! And I see Google Maps and Google Earth and Flash.
Very crazy.
Well, if there is no kompatibility for tablets in the market options for apps, then you can not see them on a tablet. but always more apps are marked with that flag for tablets, too. so we see them on our tablets as always more devs are building their apps for tablets and not only for phones. flash is such a thing. a big pusher for this was the galaxy tab...as it is a "big" phone although it´s a tablet....the more tablets are out the more apps will show up in the market....and for those apps are not in the market, take a phone and extract your app from your phone and push it on your tablet....

I'm having the same issue, also interested in a fix.
Any updates on this? It sucks that this worked so well early on and now it doesn't work at all...
Since I didn't see any posts about this, I thought it was just my A70. Now I know...and knowing is half the battle.
I actually had this problem, trying to find SimiFolder for my 43IT. I found the following link (blog post). It's pretty old, but I followed the instructions and found that it works.

ScummVm on Rooted Stock?

Hi everyone,
I have a stock rooted Nook Color (1.2) and I've been struggling trying to get ScummVm working. I downloaded the latest nightly from ScummVm's website, but every time I try to get it installed, it just says "Application Not Installed". I tried a couple of other versions of ScummVm mods, but none of them seem to work.
Am I doing something wrong? Does it not work with stock? Did anyone get ScummVm working? If so, how? I've been hitting my head against the wall for days.
Have you tried this one? http://anddev.at.ua/load/scummvm_svn55436/1-1-0-7
I don't know if it's relevant to your problem, but I've been using these builds for months with no problem.
I have to admit I've never gotten ScummVM completely working, but from what I recall, you need the Scumm android app, an individual plugin for the game you want to play, and then finally some files from the original game. The first two things are available on the market, but the last one (the game files) are harder to come by -- officially you would get them from an original disc of the game.
Let us know if you have any luck!
I have the game files, I'm a bit of an adventure game addict, and I thought the Nook would be the perfect size to play my beloved games on.
@Arbelzapf, Thanks, I'll have to install those and try it. The daily build I loaded from scummvm website doesn't quite like the nook, since I kept getting install errors.
@ponyboy82, I haven't gotten the market versions to install either, then again, they won't work on my phone, and I think they are a little outdated compared to the ones on their website.
Going to be doing some experimenting to see what I can do to get my Sam & Max fix.

1.4.3 Update rolling out?

Looks like B&N will be sending out an OTA update to version 1.4.3 starting today.
A post here about a deal with DC Comics mentions the following:
To use 'Zoom View' you will need a small update to the software in your Nook Tablet or Nook Color: software version 1.4.3 and you can get it for the Nook Tablet at www.nook.com/tablet/update or for the Nook Color at www.nookcolor.com/update. A free automated over the air update will bring this to your device beginning June 27th (that's tomorrow!) if you don't manually get the update.

Thought y'all might appreciate a heads-up.
We appreciate, thank you sir.
Okay, color me confused. Isn't "Zoom View" where you use two fingers and pinch them together to make things smaller, and un-pinch to make things bigger ? Ah, this is broken ?

I haven't seen this in action, but I'm guessing it's similar to how other 3rd party comic viewing apps can detect and automatically zoom and advance through panels on a page without you having to "drive." The Dark Horse Comic app and (to a lesser, tunable degree) ComicViewer both have this. You still have the freedom to pinch-zoom and double-click to do full page views, but you can mostly just sit back and tap on the right side of the screen, and the app will maximize the viewability of a portion of the page. Very handy for smaller (7" or less) screens.
Different systems do it different ways. I doubt it panel by panel guided view, since the Nook Comics do not seem to have the required panel dimension information, but actually, it doesn't require it.
All it needs is the ability to lock the zoom at the level you want through page turns, starting at the top left corner of the page (left to right) or top right corner (right to left) and the pan and scan would be fine with me. Keep It Simple.
Anyway, this is definitely a change that I'll let go through and then run the manual rooter again afterward.
Changes made by update
Well bn updated my NT to 1.4.3 last night.
Now any app that i had pinned to the home page that was not gotten from BN will not open from the icon. These were pinned to the homepage using app manager.
I have to search for the adw launcher and get into them that way
Any body else have any issues.
1.4.3 is a nook killer

Same issue here. Had root but lost it to OTA for 1.42. Never bothered to re-root because I got 95% of the apps I cared about installed. Now 1.4.3 basically broke all of my apps and is not really usable anymore until I root again. Hoping SD card root works on 1.43. B&N are really making the move to CM7 seem smarter than ever.
Verified
So, my nook also updated to the 1.4.3 last night.
I can verify that my device is no longer rooted, however I can still install applications from Google Play, and Amazon's app store. All of my previous applications are still working however not from the Nook home screens.
I haven't tried re-rooting with the sdcard method again yet.
The problem is that the API's changed that App Manager used to give access to the apps. The developer is aware of the issue and is trying to find a different way to achieve the same results. I just changed my default launcher to Go Launcher so I have access to all my apps, at least until App Manger starts working again.
I actually hadnt used mine in a while, but noticed yesterday the keyboard was back to default and realized something was up. Most of my apps still work, but the Play store asks me to login with an account, and when I click ok it just closes. Any ideas?
I don't remember how the sdcard root method pushed the play store, but if it pushed it to /system/apps, then play store is going to be screwed until you clear it out and install it again (reroot).
Edit: Just looked at the root zip file and it pushes all the gapps to /system/apps. The OTA update would wipe these out (as well as superuser).
Any tried Rerooting using the SDcard?
Having the same problem with Google Play.
Has anyone tried using the SD Card to reroot their device?
I think I will try it an see what happens.
SD Root
So, I backed up my nook, and took the plunge and used the SDcard I made to root 1.4.2 to root 1.4.3 and it worked flawlessly.
I had to re-login to Google Play, but I expected that.
The apps installed to the home screen of course still don't work, but opening them with another launcher or the App manager works fine.
I thought the SD card root method was designed to block OTA updates? Checking under the NT hidden settings showed an OTA block, though it now shows that I'm missing superuser since the new update unrooted my NT. Did this update have something different to defeat the block? I guess I need to seach for a new method to block updates (I seem to recall looking at some other posts on that topic).
Sent from my BNTV250 using xda app-developers app
Rooting in itself does not block OTA I believe. It simply gives you the ability to do so (either by changing the version to 9.9.9 or blocking B&N services entirely).
Understood, thanks. I'm a noob and just thought I remembered that being one of the "features" on the SD card along with a bunch of other apps (superuser, gapps, ADW, busy box, etc.). That was an issue at the time because 1.4.2 had just been published and was different than the prior versions for rooting. Thanks for the clarification!
Sent from my BNTV250 using xda app-developers app
I manually installed the 1.4.3 update and the SD Card root worked perfectly. One problem I've had since rooting though is that after updating apps from the Android Market/Play Store, the download arrows in the status bar stay active after the last app is 100% updated. The arrows go away after a reboot, but it's a little weird. I don't know if it's a market problem or has to do with 1.4.3., but everything else I had installed and loaded before the update is working flawlessly.
Supposedly when you actually install CWM on the device itself, not just on SD Card, you will not get updates due to factory recovery not being there. I do know that with CWM being internally installed + using the OTA blocker (999 one or Brian's) works. That is the way mine is and I've not gotten any updates.

I was using the sdcard root method here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23591839
And only using CM7. It worked great and I wanted to check out CM9 so I wiped the card and started over to create the dual boot card on the same post. While doing that, 1.4.3 updated on my NT and now the sdcard wont boot into cyanoboot. Does anyone know if this is a problem with 1.4.3 or am I just screwing something up?
