Stay awake while charging? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

So I can't seem to find in this device the ability to keep the screen on while charging. Is there anything to enable such? I used to have that on my Atrix and would like to be able to do such with the SGS II.

It was also removed from later Captivate builds, sadly.

Hi:
A handy widget which will make screen stay awake is Stay Awake Widget:
https://market.android.com/details?id=net.leppoc.android.dashboard&feature=search_result
This will work for both a/c chaging and usb charging.
It is also programmable to work only for certain hours (for example if you only wanted to silence it while you sleep).

Sleep death

Anyone else getting sleep death after 2.1 alpha, if not what r your settings?

Use SetCPU to set your speeds to 486mz while screen is off. Mine hasn't slept on me for 2 days.

Also keep it in airplane mode but with wireless on to avoid battery drain from cell standby.
I get the "SOD" almost whenever it locks, either manually or on it's own. I didn't have this problem before Alpha 2. I wonder if it has something to do with what's installed.
Plus I have tried the SETCPU trick and that didn't help.

I have CPU set at 595 MHz when screen off right now, all lower where not working trying this setting now.

But if it's not sleeping, won't the battery drain be huge? (I just got it a few seconds ago, so I can't comment on it yet...)
I'll try the soft lock. Uninstalling SetCPU didn't help.

HP Sleep of Death Fix with APP Softlocker
I used softlocker, and its worked like a charm. Just downloaded it from the market (free version, will buy other version once tested for two days), set it at boot, and works...
After day of using soft locker I unplugged the tablet at 8:00 am and at 4:00 the battery was at 83%, But have not gotten one sod, battery usage was 53% for soft locker app.

How do you enable airplane mode without disabling wifi and/or bluetooth? I'd love to disable the processes that care about phone features, but I don't want to screw with my wifi or BT (keyboard).

Also her phone is much different then mine so i am lost as to was this call..something. It seems to run the whole time the phone is on. Is that just a system app for getting the signal for the phone? Thanks for your time.

Turn off sync in Settings > Accounts
Also it wouldn't hurt to put the screen on the dimmest setting when its asleep.
Also put it on Edge when its asleep.

get juice defender or green power. they turn off data when your screen is off. I use green power and it works wonders, just make sure you set it to only manage phone data and turn off the bluetooth and wifi management.
Yep Juice Defender has helped me a lot.
Like others mentioned, set to lowest dimming, sync only what you need.
Shut off wifi when out and about and not near wifi as it will search for it and essentially drains the battery faster.

Battery drain

Anyone else having this kind of battery drain?

I'm not sure if that's really that unexpected.
It shows the battery going down, yes, but it also shows the phone was awake and the screen on almost that entire time.
If I played a game on mine, with the screen on the entire time, my battery would go down quickly as well.
Looks like you are streaming music, so yeah, perfectly normal

If that's all you were doing, then you've got some app keeping your phone awake and the screen on.
Fresh install though of vipers 1.2 Rom as apps did not have a chance to install yet from back up. Anyone know if the lte will drain the battery even quicker or is it the same as the 3g since its now integrated?

I had a similar issue and backed up my apps and did a fresh install and everything is great now. Don't forget to wipe Google wallet first

I still think it's because the screen was on that entire time. Check to see if you have it set to auto brightness.
As far as lte/cdma setting, I have not seen any difference in battery life when leaving lte on.
Yea I had auto brightness on was that the cause of it?

Download badass battery monitor, it will tell you what is using battery. I had a problem with wakelocks from mediaserver, killed some photo and music syncing services and battery life improved substantially.

Smart Stay

Does Smart Stay drain the batter?
bump
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA
Shouldn't be any different to leaving the screen on when using it. When the screen is on its using battery, smart stay would just work much the same way only you don't go need to unlock the screen every 1 minute.

Menu / settings / display / smart stay (check box)
Activates just before your screen timeout. An eye icon will appear on the status bar for approx 1 sec and either display off or remain on for another timeout.

Ya except now you are engaging the ffc consistently
Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
From what I've seen it only fires up the ffc just before the screen was due to sleep, to check you're still looking, so better than constantly tracking your eyes.

Exactly as in my previous post.
Based on that, (probably) any additional battery used is negligible.

You need a real charger. Not a micro usb. Either that or you need a new battery. Roms are not the cause of bad battery.
Sent from my HTC Ruby using Tapatalk 2
Get a new battery first let it calibrate itself after a few recharge decharge cycles and then report back. The amaze has some bad batteries that HTC will replace and or T-Mobile also.
I'm using the wallcharger it came with
