Droid bionic port!!! - Motorola Droid X2

Since it seems as if we're going to get the same ol tired theme for the 2.3.4 and no 3d blur im just going to be the first to go out on a limb and say I'LL PAY THE FIRST PERSON TO PORT THIS HANDSOMELY if they can port this im tired of gingerbread and ninjablur and ics ect. I want 3d blur so who's with me 3^)
P.s A DROID 3 port would be nice too

Rename the thread please.

Yes but its very misleading.

I Don't Find It Misleading If It's Posted In General. If This Was In The Dev It'd Be Different. But Just Put [Req] In The Beginning Of The Title.

I remember someone saying they were going to attempt this but i can't remember who. I believe they were going to use the d3 but regardless its the same 3d blur.

I hope it's based off the Bionic, I want that lockscreen!

Try the lockscreen from the qqlauncher.apk. It's awesome.

It definitely is, but I like the transition from the lockscreen to the homescreen on the bionic!

Would love to learn how to do this stuff, unfortunately it is very overwhelming to newbies like me. I have patience (fortunately no patients), but the amount of information needed and just getting started on this stuff is a daunting task.

Start by learning java. Codinggreenrobots.com has the version of eclipse you need with the android development plugins. It's really not that hard. Just time consuming.

Potential source of an unlock

Read the post at the url below. It describes how to get updates from Motorola cloud servers. It might be useful in getting unlocks for other phones. Please spread the word to anyone interested in an unlock for Motorola Android phones with Blur.

I'm sitting here, got the zip downloaded. I'm so freaking tempted to try getting into the blur cloud, but I'm a chicken lol.

Well, I tried it. I could not get the cloud button. Maybe someone else will have more luck.

Damn... I was on my phone and I guess I didn't see the exclamation point... Oh well...
Actually the Atrix and the X2 are nearly identical. That's why the CWM recovery for the atrix works.

You are right. Which is why I have been trying to use your kernel source. Sadly Motorola keeps releasing broken kernel source.
Sounds interesting

Can't wait for cm7

I plan on deving but am waiting for cm7 and some aosp kernels as I will build off of cm7 base

I might be wrong but without an unlocked bootloader how do you plan on running anything but the moto kernel?

As unfortunate as that may be (and it is really unfortunate) my CM7 work is going to be based on Moto's kernel because I have no choice in the matter atm. That being said, it only takes a few tweaks to make a new boot.img that can be flashed to the phone if and when we get an unlocked bootloader.

Wouldn't it work using 2nd init, similar to the OG X?

Just out of curiosity, For unlocked phones, is the cm7 ROM use the same kernel for all phones? Or is it tailor made for a specific phone?

Which phone do you think they will crack first? More then likely the Bionic, besides, its a much better device.
Don't forget there will be even better choices on VZW than Bionic b4 in a month or 2

Correction he said the DX, DX2, and the Bionic.
Being able to flash without having to be plugged in would be nice. Not that I'm *****iing. A working recovery is better than none. And I'm assuming up for discussion is more for CM7?

Just saying hi

So my brother got a limited edition red and black RAZR maxx so it looks like I will be here as well as the Rezound forums . I have never had a motor phone before so I might ask some questions. Any major differences from HTC phones?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA
Lots of differences, most of them for the worse. Welcome to the world of locked bootloaders, regional signatures, and easy bricking.
On the plus side, that kevlar back is still pretty *****in'.

Yes I'm not planning on going with it much simpler because it's my brothers.

So in your opinion it's fairly easy to brick a RAZR? I understand if you flash cdma rom but I have not seen anyone bricking it?

I'm guessing he means soft-bricking? It's pretty darn easy to do that though. Hard brick, not so much. I once wiped /system and accidentally turned off my phone. Still managed to restore it.
Anyway, welcome to the Razr community. Look around, get your bearings, and start flashing random stuff. My advice? Not everything can be found on xda. So try looking around in other forums and stuff.

I will thanks. Are there serious problems of you end up flashing a gsm rom to a cdma phone or if you flash back will they be fixed? I also thanks everyone for the awesome welcome to the forums
Also, I think phone manufacturer's have perpusly made it hard to brick phones. I know someone one the Rezound forums tried to before we had s-off and couldn't

The only way that would happen is if you dont read the rom thread. These roms are split out between cdma and gsm. I havent seen one that didnt specify which phone it was for.
