I installed it and it runs perfectly except the tiny little part of not being able to hear calls. I odin'd the UCKH7 modem and it worked but, still...not able to hear to hear either side of the calls.
So right now it's running Baseband version I777UCKH7, Kernel Version 2.6.35.7-MIUI-GBA33733
Build number MIUI 1.9.30
Anyone know what I could Odin to make this work?
I really really like MIUI and the interface.

Maybe attempt to install ATT modem, what you have now is international.
However, its just a waiting game for now. once CM determins the audi and mic Libs, Miui will beable to pull from the fork/master and build a new Miui version for the ATT branded SGS2

I got my vibrant running 2.2 in early December unfortunately I don't know what rom I am running. I have been wanting to install black froyo theme but it says not compatible with Jk6 I really am hesitant about flashing a rom so on figure I start with a theme and get comfortable but i really don't know what rom is on this phone. I know it was flashed before I got the phone and if i do get any rom I need wifi calling and all i know is this runs it decently stable so I am happy with it since I need it.
This is what it says under about
Firmware 2.2
Baseband T959UVJK6
Kernel 2.6.32.9
Build number FROYO. UVJK6
So I really don't know of I am compatible with black froyo that is the one for non Nero listed under themes
On the sd it seems there are multiple zip files with rom names so this makes it even more difficult here is what's on the sd
ObsidianV5.Zip
Fusion12_stock.Zip
StockJK6_v2.zip
That seems to be it. Yes i am rooted and I did titanium back up last night I feel like I am getting a little more audacious to finally do this and maybe sometime soon flash a new rom I just do. That's want to lose my wifi calling and is there way to get the phone exactly the way it is now if I screwed up? I been reading up 2 noob guides and it doesn't seem hard at all but i figure I start small. Thanks for any help in advance

Just upgrade your modem. I know you are hesitant but it's relatively easy and there are better modems out from the JK6.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9737728
pick one and go to town. I can personally verify it working on JL1,4,and 5.
why not just DL Nero v3? Then you know its compatible..
Nero3 does not have wifi calling. I absolutely need that on my rom.
Blizzard you can confirm that blackfroyo is working on your JI5 or you mean wifi calling on JI5? sorry my eyes are crossing here.
I am still trying to get a handle on what has what effect. Id flash Nero3 in a heartbeat if I knew wifi calling worked on it. Same with Axura but it doesnt look like its offered on either one
Hey...
Like many, been reading this site for years and years... but now its time I start posting. I have a couple a minor questions that I'm sure some of you guys will have no problems in answering. Thanks in Advance.
I just flashed CM7 Nightly #63 galaxymtd on my telus fascinate 3g+, as well, the TK-Glitch kernel v11. It took me the better part of a day to get it down pat, but its awsome. Thats all I got to say about it. Thanks to everyone who was involved in the development.
I have an odin package. The filename has JL3 in it, so I'm assuming its the JL3 modem. It does work when I used it when I was stock.
The only thing I'm wondering right now is... can I flash the stock modem with this CM7 rom/kern.?
I've been reading about the EC09/EC05 modems... from what I can make out, I can't use those right? because they're for Verizon.
Anyone have any suggestions, know of a guides, info of a modem(s) I can use with my rom/kern. combination? or how I can distinguish between the different modems and if they will work with telus.
Thanks
James
Just to revive this question, I just flashed the latest nightly and glitch's v12 beta. and I agree, hands down amazing. Thank you for all the dev's involved. One thing though is that reception is terrible and I was wondering what modems work as well.
Thanks

I too want to know this?
I flashed the telus stock jl3 modem after I tried out CM7 nightly 66. Had no problems sending/receiving text or using wifi/3g
Tried calling myself and my phone rang, but I didn't test the call quality. Flashed back to darkys before recieving any calls, so I can't vouch for it, but I don't imagine it would be any worse/better.
I also flashed the JL3 modem right up until I was using the late 70's nightly's. I had no problems. I also flashed the KC1 modem and found it to be good as well.
I sold my 3D to someone and have been trying to put a new rom on it for em. Everytime I flash a 2.3.4 rom everything works EXCEPT during a call you can hear the person talking but they cant hear you. And I know the speaker works because voice commands work fine but during it call it doesn't work, period.
Sounds Like a personal phone issue..I've been on 2.3.4 with multiple roms and never had this issue.
Sent from a little place called ETERNITY in the 3rd Dimension.
I never had that problem running 2.3.4 ROMs either.
I honestly don't get it. Every 2.3.4 rom I tried to put on the phone would have the issue with not being able to be heard during a call. I tried 4 different roms and had the same issue everytime. Put a 2.3.3. rom on it and I could be heard during calls fine. I dunno but I got tired of fooling with it.
I did notice one thing though... when wiping in recovery I got an error that said
E:can't give path "/sdcard/.android_secure" to format_volume
Think that might have something to do with it?
OP, did you do the EVRC-B mod? If so, undo it.

I don't even know what that is lol. This is basically the scenario. I can flash ANY 2.3.3 rom or lower than that and everything works perfectly fine. But as soon as I flash any rom with a 2.3.4. base everything works except for callers being able to hear me. It's crazy... I even tried the stock 2.3.4. deodexed update and it was the same thing. Flash a 2.3.3. rom and boom, they can hear me again.

The EVRC-B mod enhances voice, the same settings found on Verizon phones but in some cases it might not be supported by the tower. Its accessed in the EPST edit menu, via your MSL code.
But if you're flashing the ROMs with voice performance changing, I'm not sure whats going on. As I seriously doubt the EPST settings get changed by the ROM.
I could be wrong.
I don't know either... im clueless. First time i've ever had a hangup like this when flashing. I put it on the phone for her and everything was all good until she got a call and realized they couldn't hear what she was saying. I thought maybe it was a bad flash but hell i've tried every rom in the development forum almost.
none
Give the guy his money back, put it under your car tire, then smoke the tires, that phone sounds retarded.
Try revolution by Mike and see if that shows the same issue.
If it does then either your doing something wired while flashing, have some app messing crap up, or its hardware problem somehow.
Likely its user error somehow though. I dunno any roms that flip evrb on for voice by default for the mere fact that its not supported everywhere.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
But how would it be user error only for the 2.3.4. roms lol. Im sayin... i'm not doing anything different. Just download, transfer from pc to sd and flash through recovery like I always have. If it was user error it seems like id have problems with the 2.3.3. roms too. I gave up on it though.. technically it's not even my phone anymore lol
I am no Noob to Android, but am to Samsung phones. This is my first time ever encountering kernels and modems that could be flashed separately. All other Android devices I used had everything together as a single package and did not offer a kernel and modem separately.
That said, I am trying to determine a solution for a frustration of mine. I want the newest Gingerbread 2.3.6 version for my ATT Galaxy S2 (NOT Skyrocket), but every time I check for updates, my phone says that I am up to date already. Yet, there have been three newer firmware versions leaked and I dont know what this means, but I am wondering if ATT is leaving me in the dust or something.
I have tried all three of the leaked updates (UCKJ1, J2, and J4), and although the phone works perfectly fine, all versions give me an impossible to deal with problem when I am in a call with someone. The problem is that no matter who I am talking to, they all complain that they cannot hear me because my voice is randomly fading in and out to the point where they cannot hear me at all. Strangely though, when I am on UCKH7, everyone says that I come in nice and clear and no one ever complains about clarity.
So, I was wondering first, what controls the calling portion of the firmware/
ROM? I was thinking that it was the modem, but when I think of modems, I think of something controlling internet, like 3/4G and wifi.
Second, if it IS the modem that controls the calling, then what would happen if I flashed the UCKJ4 firmware and the UCKH7 modem? Will everything work?
I was thinking that since H7 seems to be the only version that doesnt give me voice problems, then by using its modem with the J4 kernel, I could have the newest firmware, but still have people hear me.
If anyone knowledgeable in this area could help me, that would be ridiculously awesome! I dont want to try this unless I am sure that I wont brick my phone or something.
BTW, the voice problem is not caused by finger over microphone or my or the other party's reception. I have tested this as thoroughly as possible and it is definitely the firmwares for some reason.
1) your modem controls both the calls and data connection.
2) you can flash the stock KH7 modem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1336958&highlight=UCKH7+modem
you can do this without changing your rom or kernel. Hope that fixes your call issues (sounds like it will).
Modem controls calls and data connection, however the Samsung Noise Reduction feature is in the audio libraries within /system and to some degree in the kernel (sound drivers)
Ok, so the modem does handle calls then. Thats good to know!
For the record though, the noise suppression feature seems to have no affect on this problem of mine. It doesn't matter whether it is on or not :-\
I am CURRENTLY running KH7 modem AND kernel and no problems right now.
Soooooo... What would happen if I flashed the J4 kernel, but the KH7 modem though?
Will things work right (data, wifi, phone calls, system stability, etc)? Will I lose noise suppression?
LOL, thanks for the replies so far, but my questions were only half-answered. (Probably too much text in my OP... sorry!)

Most likely not much - the only case where you're likely to notice a change is if you flash my kernel, which pulled in the I9100's latest sound driver a few days ago.
Please forgive me for not fully understanding all of this.... -_-'
So, it isn't worth it to flash the J4 kernel (in order to get Gingerbread 2.3.6) and the H7 modem (to keep my phone calls clear)?
If I flashed your kernel though, how would it affect my phone?
Will I be at 2.3.6?
Would I flash your kernel, but keep the H7 modem?
Also, can you provide a link to your kernel (to make sure I find the same thing you are talking about)?
Again, forgive me for not understanding right away.

I think my base band got updated to the latest T-Mobile when I flashed a de-bloated T mobile ICS rom. Not sure if this is the case as I am S-ON and am not sure if it's possible for an unsigned rom to flash the baseband, but whatever. Was wondering if there are any users out there who have stayed on Telus stock ICS and what their baseband is. Was having some radio issues and wanted to try and flash stock baseband. Thanks
Which one did you flash?

I'm on the latest T-Mobile I believe 1.14.550L.17DC. For all I know this is the Telus ICS baseband but I was having volume issues with the earpiece being too loud even at lowest setting. I do have control over the volume, unlike all the CM based ROMs, I just feel like the earpiece volume is a bit too high compared to what I remember it being when the phone was bone stock. Just wanted to see if I was on the "wrong" radio. I have no issues regarding voice and probably none in regard to data (haven't checked). Just volume. From what I've heard many people who are not on T Mobile have flashed the lattest T mobile radio for improvements. Thing is I'm S-ON so now I figured the radio could not be updated regardless of what ROM I flashed unless it was signed official Telus. Maybe not? Tried De Bloated T Mobile ROM and Telus Rooted ROM and both work well. I'm really just curious at this point I guess. If I'm not on the right radio I'm not sure I'm willing to go S-OFF and start flashing stuff just because my earpiece is a bit too loud. Just would like to know.

Can you post a screen shot of your baseband? or type it in?
Would help. Also, having a slightly louder volume isnt so bad, you can turn the volume down manually..

1.14.550L.17DC Latest T mobile. The lowest volume setting is pretty loud so being able to control volume doesn't mean much. It's not unbearable but it's seems significantly louder than stock so that's sort of why I'm looking at going back to stock or possibly going S-OFF to flash radios. The stock telus ICS zip will not install from bootloader. It either needs stock Telus gingerbread installed as a base or an earlier radio or something. Installing stock gingerbread (executable) requires an hboot downgrade (it checks hboot) and possibly a radio downgrade as well. At this point I may just stay where I am but it wouldbe nice if I could try the stock ICS radio. I was also wondering if it's even possible to flash the baseband when I install a custom ROM when I'm S-ON?

I would definately S-off it really helps. chat with @ravike14 he can help you thru it.
If you s-off and super cid you should be able to flash the firmware without issue.
I'm not sure about the baseband thru custom rom. There should never be a firmware upgrade in a custom rom.
Poeple should also warn someone if it does.
I was upset that a certain rom I flashed had a modified recovery and it wasnt mentioned in the op.
Can you send/post your build.prop file? There are some settings that can be controlled there.

Thanks for the info. I wound up going the s-off route and flashed a t mobile stock ruu which worked out fine. The volume issue I believe was my mistake. Rather than making a regular phonecall I was making a *888 call which was an automated message giving account balance with a certain Telco. For whatever reason this message was way loud. Regular voice calls seemed to be fine. So l went to evervolve 3.3 but the battery drain was real bad so now I run energy rom and everything is great. If 10.2 ever gets call audio fixed I would consider going back to that as it was soooo smooth even with a couple bugs
Good Job!

Glad to hear everything worked out.
Evervolve is looking like a very good rom!
Jellybean sense is in the works and it's really smooth and snappy, but has a lot of issues right now, and the kernel is proving to be a very difficult problem.
