KI4 is a 2.3.4 build. It's been here for a couple of weeks now. Search.

How odd... I use KIES every day, checking for the latest updates and this is the first time I was offered this. Thought it's new.
Will have a looksie here. Cheers!

From your original post I can see you have a handset on the 3G network?
When you buy a handset directly from a network they have to authorise the firmware update before sending it out to customers through Kies. This is because networks like to test the firmware and had bloatware / branding to it therefore it causes a delay. That is why you are only able to get the official update now.

No update available in Kies?

Hi all,
My phone (UK - Galaxy S2 - Three mobile network) is currently on PDA:KF4 / PHONE:KF2 / CSC:KF1 (H3G). Kies is saying that no firmware update is available but I see people talking about KE7, is there anyway to get this update?
LOL, you have KF4, KE7 is an older version than yours. Wait for 2.3.4
Regards.
When is 2.3.4 due?
Thanks
Don't know, should be released within this month
You also have the choice of using the unofficial upgrade path as per .

[Q] HELP for FIRMWARE ISSUE and official 2.3.4 update!

Hey guys,
I am very new to android and this forum as well
I bought my sgs2 outright from Optus Telechoice, and recently i upgraded its firmware via Kies.
This is the firmware information shown in Kies whenever the phone is connected with usb:
PDA:KG1 / PHONE:KF3 / CSC:KG1 (OPS)
it says this is my current and the latest firmware.
*NEVER rooted my phone before, phone was shipped with KE7 if not mistaken.
Ok my question starts here, i've been reading forums for quite a while, and i notice that very few user have the same firmware as mine. i wonder why?
First of all, I heard that the official 2.3.4 firmware has been released via KIES, i really like to get the update but KIES said my current firmware is the latest.
I read this sentence from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
saying that:
These packages below are not official firmware packages, they are Frankenstein package created due to demand for Firmware with different CSC and modems. KIES will not recognise the firmware so you won't be able to update to new firmware using KIES unless you flash back to a firmware meant for your device first. Otherwise there will always be Odin to use for updates
and i found the exact same firmware version as shown in my KIES:
Optus OPSKG1 CSC: http://www.multiupload.com/EPWZTIMS1F
which proves that my current version is a kind of so called
+++++++[Frankenstein Firmwares]+++++++, which may restrict me from receiving the latest firmware.
As mentioned from the above, 'KIES will not recognise the firmware so you won't be able to update to new firmware using KIES unless you flash back to a firmware meant for your device first.'
In this case, which firmware is meant for my device?!
* I really wanted to get rid of the Optus bloatware by flashing the stock firmware PLUS get the latest official update 2.3.4 rolled out by KIES.
Can anyone please teach me how and what to do? appreciate that and thanks in advance to any who reply me.
*i am an adroid newbie pls bear with me!
Images shown in my sgs2 and KIES:

CORRECT
First of all, I heard that the official 2.3.4 firmware has been released via KIES, i
NO
i notice that very few user have the same firmware as mine. i wonder why?
Because they have flashed a later version via ODIN of stock Samsung firmware that may be a leaked version .
which proves that my current version is a kind of so called
+++++++[Frankenstein Firmwares]+++++++,
No not if you updated via Kies you are not understanding the post .
In this case, which firmware is meant for my device?!
The one you have on it is the latest for your device as installed by Kies .
I really wanted to get rid of the Optus bloatware by flashing the stock firmware PLUS get the latest official update 2.3.4 rolled out by KIES.
One Samsung path and wait for 2.3.4 to be rolled out by your network via Kies .
Or two unofficial method of updating firmware using stock Samsung firmware flashed via Odin.

Hi,
First of all thank you for the replies.
are you sure the official 2.3.4 hasn't come out via KIES?
I read some posts regarding the official release though.
Once again from my understanding, my kind of firmware (PDA:KG1 / PHONE:KF3 / CSC:KG1 (OPS)) is actually released by Optus via KIES, it is actually more like the OPTUS (and australian phone carrier) version of this firmware, thats why there are few users compared to the majority.
So what u mean is even though others (non-optus user) might get the update BUT i have to wait for OPTUS itself to roll out the update via KIES, right?
Okay lets not talk about official 2.3.4.
AND one more thing, i would really like to remove the Optus bloatware by flashing STOCK firmware via Odin, but i have no idea which STOCK firmware i have to choose from. i'm aware that there are a lot of stock firmwares available from the link provided above, but which is the appropriate as well as the latest STOCK firmware for my unit.
Since my current firmware is PDA:KG1 / PHONE:KF3 / CSC:KG1 (OPS), obviously it is a Optus-based firmware, so which STOCK firmware do i have to choose from? what is the 'stock version' for my current firmware as listed from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
i am really stuck here. Hope you understand my situation.
Thanks once again mate

[Q] No update available

Hi guys,
I have a question, maybe is stupid, but I have searched on the net and I could not find anything to clarify my question.
My Android version is I9100XWKI4 / I9100XXKI1 / I9100DBTKH1. So a ROM (2.3.4) from Germany.
When I try to update the ROM to 2.3.6 via Kies I get always the message "No update available".
Do you have any ideea why Kies doesn't find the newest version for my phone?
thanks
Try Check Fus. Google it for info.

You have the newest version for your phone note your phone or the codes on the phone do not match any on KIES server due to flashing .
Its your phone provider that updates the firmware to KIES as and if they want and some are well behind the later releases and unlikely to update further until soon expected release of ICS ..

Rooting to ICS

Hi,
I am basically running the following at the moment:
Android Version: 2.3.4
Baseband version: I9100XXKI1
Kernal version: 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKI4-CL575468 [email protected] #2
Build number: GINGERBREAD.XWKI4
Can I ask what kernel / steps I need to take to upgrade to the latest ice cream sandwich for the Galaxy S2?

If you mean "stock" ICS you can find everything here, latest is the DXLP7 (Asian but with English) or XXLPQ (European): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Otherwise you might want to take a look at custom ROMs.
Thank you.
The thing is, I don't think I have a carrier branded phone (no logos, no carrier software etc) yet Kies is saying I have the latest firmware :S
Ignore Kies, it's just telling you the latest firmware available from your carrier.
Just install the DXLP7 rom from above through Odin

But the thing is, my phone is not carrier branded etc.
I have read that if it has XW or XX in the version name, then it's unbranded, therefore, I should get the update.
Samsung releases region by region based on CSC. So that means they haven't released any updates for YOUR region. If you don't want to wait for Samsung to release an update through Kies to YOUR region, then flash a different firmware.
EDIT: I should add it doesn't matter if it is carrier branded or not. They release based on the region you bought the phone from. I had XWKE7, which is 2.3.3 for UK (even though I'm using the phone in the US), for months when I first got my phone. I got tired of waiting for an update, so I flashed XXKI3, which is 2.3.5 for Poland.
It's really not as cut and dried as "all unbranded phones get the update".

Well, they were supposed to. But Monday was yesterday. It may not happen same day, depending on your location. They probably stagger the release so their servers don't get overwhelmed.

They released the Three Ireland version (which is LPQ version of ICS) the unbranded version of ICS has not been officially released yet via Kies. If you want the official release, then you are going to have to wait.
Personally I flashed LP7 ROM. Later on I flashed the LP6 Radio ROM because the LP7 Radio ROM that came in the LP7 full ROM was eating away at the battery life.
My phone was branded T-Mobile UK, when I first got it. The branding lasted about a week - just to make sure that there was no hardware problems with the phone. Even the official unbranded ROM lasted about a month before I started flashing leaked releases. Why wait till Samsung officially release an update when you could have it running better thanks to the folks on here.
Where did you get the LP6 radio from? Thread I got LP7 from has removed the older stuff.
Also I'm assuming radio is the same thing as modem..
Sent from my phone lol

Firmware PDA:MC2 / PHONE:LKB / CSC:MB1 (XEF)

HI,
When i connect to kies it shows as below:
Current Firmware: PDA:LJ2 / PHONE:LID / CSC:LJ2(XEF) - version 4.1.1
Latest Firmware: PDA:MC2 / PHONE:LKB / CSC:MB1 (XEF) - 4.1.2???
I need some help & troubleshooting info:
1. Is the lastest firmware version 4.1.2?
2. Kies downloaded the latest upgrade and then showed me Allow 'AdminDelegator' to modify my computer setting. I said yes.
But after that, Kies got freezed, it didnt start the installation. My S3 doesn't show the downloading....
Am I missing something in the upgrade procedure?
Thanks..

KIES is somewhat annoying to use lol. Why don't you just use the OTA feature of the phone? It's much faster that way.

HI,
Thanks for the reply. I have already tried OTA, but it says No updates available. So was I trying with Kies. Kies downloads the firmware and then the it gets freezed when about to start the initialization and never responds back.
Upgrade via Odin saves you posting the same question in multiple threads .
Multiple posts of the same question is against the rules .
Or get Samsung service to update for you .
