I can't seem to be able to boot into CWM. I can get to it by Rom Manager, but when I hold VOL UP and press Power it justs boots up. Same with holding Vol up AND down and pressing power. Am I doing something wrong here?
I rooted using this method:

That works, but what if I flash a bad rom, how can I access the recovery?
VolUp + VolDn should work - always works for me.
Specifically:
Hold VolUp + VolDn
Hold Power until the screen turns out
Let go of Power, keep holding VolUp + VolDn until CWM appear

I'm an idiot, I released power too soon everytime, now I get it, thank you all for your patience!
I simply hold both volume buttons along with power until I see the boot log screen appear. Once I see that, I let go of all buttons and I'll get right into CWM.

1. Flashed eugene's via odin
2. I've tried the usual power + vol up + vol down as well as power + vol down + home. I feel like such a nub but I can't figure out what I'm missing?
Whenever I have the power button down, the phone just endlessly reboots into recovery mode.
I'm attempting to do the larger nand fix.
You have to hold vol up + vol down and then plug in the use cable. Don't press the power button.

I have the unlock code but nowhere to input it.
Volume Up (hold) + Power (hold)
Volume Up (hold) + Power (hold) -> release Power
Volume Up (hold) + Power (hold) -> release Volume Up
thanks!

Pretty vague there noob guy.
Provide more information on what mods you have or did and what exactly you're trying to accomplish. Otherwise all you'll be is flame bait for senior members.
dl mode is usually volume down + power or both up/down volume + insert usb
VUp + VDn + Power with no USB cable inserted will put you into recovery mode

As stated above, wrong combinations.
Not to mention you don't put unlock codes in recovery. Not really sure what it is you think you are going to accomplish.

Volume up + volume down + power. Are u tying to sin unlock?
Love everyone who gives him the wrong advice then drops the newb line, irony, anyway here are the two modes you can get into at boot, all start with the phone off
Volup + voldown + pwr during phone boot, release after the first startup screen = download mode for odin
Volup + voldown + pwr during phone boot, wait till boot screen flashes, at the second time you see the boot screen then release = recovery, assuming your firmware has it installed
Fyi the boot screen is the first thing you see when the phone turns on, not to be confused with the boot animation, hope it helps, its a pain when your looking for advice and people just make fun of your for not knowing and give incorrect instructions, kind of defeats the purpose of these forums as a place to learn about your phone from others

This will put the I777 into recovery mode, not download mode.

This will also put the I777 into recovery mode, regardless of firmware. All firmware distributions have recovery. Stock firmware has 3e recovery.
It would be best if you get your facts straight before you post.

i keep seeing tut vids with everyone holding buttons down till you see the flashes etc. however if power down completely then just hold the vol down for 1 - 2 sec, then give the power button a quick push (no need to hold it down at all. just press it like you are turning it on) while continuing to hold vol down you'll go straight into boot loader (release vol down when you enter bootloader).

Erm, no disrespect intended, but isn't this how we've always gone into the bootloader? I didn't realize there was another way, outside of an APM in a ROM or through ADB.
Nite sure if this is what you're looking for but I use "quick boot" from the market.
One click for reboot, recovery, bootloader or power off.

I forget the button combination. But you can always do
Code:
adb reboot-bootloader
Hello, I just rooted my S3 using "CF-Root 6.4" but everytime I hold volume-down + home + power, it goes into the default odin screen with the information about the phone. How do I get into CWM by holding volume-down + home + power and not using the app?

thanks, yeah I just figured it out, its weird that when the phone is completely shut off I do the volume up then press power button on, it takes me to fastboot, but if I keep holding volume up and release the power and push power button for the second time then it enters recovery every time, kind odd to me but it works
ok I was playing around again entering recovery manually and now I can`t everytime I hold volume up and power button and goes to fastboot, then I did the second press of the power goes right to fastboot again, is there something jack up with my phone?
hmm that kinda odd... what ROM are you trying to flash?
From bootloader screen use vol up twice then power, or vol dwn twice then power.

Glad it worked. This app is nice, but need to be booted.

Also you can reboot into recovery from TiBU
