Hi all,
My XPERIA U cannot get into fastboot mode even though I plugged the USB cable with holding down Volume Up Button.
I also tried it with holding down Volume Down Button.
I cannot have the bootloader unlocked.
My XPERIA U says its bootloader is allowed to be unlocked, and it is SIM free.
Please give me an advise to me!!
Thanks!

Anyway I try downloading flashtool and in the driver folder ( inside flashtool folder) there is an installer try install it when there are check box check them all and install
After that fastboot mode should be working
This is the easiest way to install fastboot driver, I think
It works for me

Just get the flashtool from here:
http://androxyde.github.com/
Install it (make sure you disable your antivirus while downloading).
Open C:\Flashtool\drivers and install the drivers.
Its the easiest way as Theonlyzii mentioned.
Theres workaround in general forum.
You must FAST!
Open device manager first
When you plugged in ur device with fast boot mode there should be a new driver detected on device manager,. Right click and update driver( you must fast before its disappear). After you succesfully install the driver now you can reconnect ur device in fastboot mode.
Hope this help. You might want to search that workaround im talking about for clearer instruction.

Nah mate...
I had failed. Windows just couldn't find the right drivers from doomlord's thread
Anyway, flashtool is the easiest, and pain free method.

Thanks all!!
Finally I could succeed unlocking the bootloader with the way of installing the driver from flashtool that you advised me!
I was not able to this method on my Windows8 RP PC, and I did not find the reason why I cannot. And I succeeded this on another Windows 7 PC! Thanks to you, I could notice that.
And for you, ankh.red,
I was trying it many times because my Xperia U turn off the blue LED soon(around 3 seconds). But it was always failing detecting any driver after I catch my Xperia U on the Device Manager. Of cource I had a driver from Sony's official page.
I think windows8 will need some change to do this. I have found on web someone who succeeded it on Windows8...
Anyway, I was helped by you! Thank you!! I will search next interesting things on the rooted from now!

Yeah I have the same problem before... Blue LED 3 sec,
I have to install the fastboot driver ( not the Sony one but the one in fastboot USB folder) before it disappear on devices manager..
Anyway, I glad you're able to unlock your bootloader now .
Happy rooting lol

Dont wanna start another thread so im just going ask here:
1. Why the speaker is so quite or is it just me?!
2. How can i root without unlocking bootloader since i dont wanna loose drm files( did they even important?! )
3. If there be some forum just for xperia U/P or we need to post in this ection....
P.S. previousely iv had xperia x8 so im new with this xperia, and sorry if this questions are already answered....
1. Enable xLoud in Settings>Sound
2. Not yet possible. I believe DRM is some protection given to music files bought legally. I think you might not be able to play such files (correct me if I'm wrong)
3. Not yet. Many have requested mods. No seperate sections

For Windows 8 users. The drivers cannot be installed because of the driver signature enforcement.
This is how to disable it.
First, press win + I to launch the charm bar, and click Change PC Settings at the bottom.
Then, go to General, and scroll to the bottom of the page, click Restart Now button under Advanced Startup section.
The computer reboots to a startup menu, in which click Troubleshoot.
And click Advanced Options at next screen.
Choose Startup Settings next And click Restart button.
The computer reboots and prompts another menu to choose. One of the items is to Disable driver signature enforcement. Press number 7 or F7 to continue booting to Windows 8 with digital sign enforcement disabled.
Hope that helps

The reason you are getting the "error: closed" message is because System Recovery installed with Android 4.0.3r5a inhibits use of ADB Shell.
I will post the hack recovery which enables adb shell in the recovery when i find it.

Depends. i dont have root anymore so i cant.
but if you get adb (google it) and the drivers for your phone,
you might be able to push the files with root access with "adb root" (i think anyway)
but if youve got the same problem as me and when you try anything in the aio tool it shows " "su" binary not found no root " (something like that)
than unluckily i cant help you anymore.
ive ordered a pickup from sony since i realised i had warranty with it.
fingers crossed they cant find out its been rooted.
sorry for any dissapointment. if you bought this of someone then phone sony and give theme the serial no. . theyll check if you have warranty
(dont tell them anything about the aio or rooting it. say it was an ota update)
Im in bit of a problem here.
With the new security check in 4.2+ I have to accept my computer on my device when using adb. Fair enough. Problem is I just broke my screen/digitizer and thereby cant accept. I am rooted and have custom recovery. I need adb to extract my data and I want to get screencast work as well.
I hear you say "why not just use the same computer as you rooted it on in the first place". Well thats just not possible anymore..
Device Nexus 7 (2012) android 4.2.2 (rooted and CW recovery)
What options do I have to work around this? All I can think of is downgrading to prior android, but Im not sure how well that will work, neither do I know how to push romfiles without adb.
Help/ideas even opinions is greatly appreciated!

I have this exact same problem right now.
Would love to get a solution for this.
If you need to extract some files and you have a broken screen do not change android versions as chances are it will make it very difficult to extract any info (as in it will be wiped)
Maybe try a tool like android commander or droid explorer to control device with PC, if this won't work see if you can boot to recovery and use adb in there

Im on hold when it gets to downgrading so far. Im not familiar with Android Commander, but Droid Explorer requires adb to be working. And that is kinda my whole problem. I cant accept my PC as a secure adb-client since the digitizer is broken (touch input wont work). I hope there is a way to override this through recovery or some other way.
Breakdown:
When connecting device to computer (adb), I have to (on my device) accept my computer as secure. This is a problem since digitizer is broken.

Like I said if these programs don't work use a recovery, if you current recovery won't work then flash a new one with fastboot, I'm pretty sure you'll be able to use adb in recovery without having to authorize, or if you plan on an exact device replacement just make a nanadroid and restore with new device

Do you know if there is a way to get rid of the authorization through adb. Are there any files who could be manipulated? Would be great if I could use some sort of screencast-app eg. Droid Explorer.

Are you sure you have only 1 instance of the adb.exe and it's the latest one?
Try where adb.exe from commandpromt, you may have another adb.exe somewhere in Windows directory.
I do have more than one instance of ADB.exe installed yes, but does that matter to my problem? My Nexus isnt even showing up in fileexplorer in windows. So I cant access my files. Or am I wrong here?

First: Delete all ADB.exe you can find on your computer.
Second: You have to update the ADB, no matter how - download from internet or using the android SDK. But you need to use the latest version!
Optional: replug the cable and run adb devices. This can make the authorization toast to appear.
Then you will get your device authorized.

I have had the same problem with my S4.
After updating ADB i did "adb devices" and got my S4 as offline, and i noticed the popup on my phone, accepted and my samsung is now working fine with ADB.
FYI before the above mention operation i have tried everything, even making sure i run the correct adb.exe but there was no popup.
First of all kill the adb server via task manager then when you start the adb command-line type In ADB root this may solve your problem

I'm having the same problem as the OP... This is impossible. *the screen and digitizer are broken*
The question is "How can I bypass the New authorization, since I can't click anything on my phone". I can't check "USB Debugging" - I need the phone screen and digitizer to do that. come on people, read the post.
Has anyone figured this out? I'm having a similiar problem except my screen isn't broken. I forgot to make a backup and my OS got erased and I'm getting the unauthorized notification in ADB. Hello,
I've read numerous times about people being able to restore their dead bricked phones. No button combination will get my LG Optimus L9 P769 (T-mobile) to turn on. I think bricked it while trying to complete a carrier unlock. I understand that I can try to restore my phone through either fastboot or kdz. For fastboot, I was able to install the omap driver, but you know how I'm supposed to install a second driver? Well, I can't seem to do that. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? I would love an explanation of how to install the driver a second time. I know I'm doing something wrong, because when I use the fastboot script to flash the xloader and uboat, I just get "waiting for device." Also, if I want to flash a kdz, do I need fastboot drivers? I feel like my success depends on installing the fastboot drivers properly, but my computer and two others would not let me do that.
I'm really new to this stuff, so any help is appreciated! Also, please excuse me if I'm using the terminology incorrectly. Like I said, I'm new to all this.
Thank you in advance!

Hello, I can't get into fastboot. It may be that the phone battery does not have a charge and so the fastboot script does not recognize it when I insert it into the phone after 4 seconds. Could that be a possibility? Because I tried everything, tried many different timings many times, to no avail!

I was just in the same boat as you and pretty much gave up hope but finally got fastboot working and flashed ics x and u and bam it worked like a charm on offline flash method. You just have to pit usb cable in phone w/o battery in and go to device manager. When you see it popup under other devices right click and press install driver. Make sure you have electronic signatures disabled or it will give a error and not install. This is what prevented me from getting it to work the first 100 times! Now run CMD. TYPE CD C:/FASTBOOT < OR C:/ W/E FOLDER NAME IT IS. THEN RUN START.BAT. < OR W/E THE .BAT FILE INSIDE YOUR FILE IS NAMED. Now press enter. It should prompt to plug in phone. I put my battery in as soon as plugged in and it worked. Now Choose option 5. Let it do its thing. Now go reinstall driver as done before to be safe. Then remove your battery. Hold volume + button and plug usb in. S/W upgrade mode should come up. Slide your battery in and proceed to the offline flash method to flash you kdz file. Should be alive again! Mine was tricky going into sw upgrade mode. Sometimes it came right up then sometimes it took 4 or 5 tries so dont give up! Goodluck and you can do it! I almost gave up I felt so hopeless about getting it to work then it finally worked like a charm!

The problem is, I can't install the driver in the second location because it doesn't come up in device manager.. I was thinking maybe there's a problem with the battery, like it doesn't have a charge or something. Because when I run fastboot it doesn't detect the battery no matter what timing I used. I tried everything. If I use the old fastboot script and I get to "fastboot? y or N" and I enter y, it keeps asking the same question.

Could be a problem with the battery? I'm going to get an external battery charger and try charging the battery.

How did your device get in this state? Depending on what happened your device may not be fixable.

It died after I plugged it into the computer. I never rooted it and has the stock software. Before dying I also carrier-unlocked it using a cheap code from ebay.
Hi people from the comunity of xda-developers, I have recently got a new HTC ONE from AT&T and my problem is that, I CANT Unlock the bootloader of my htc one. I have found threads about how people can unlock their bootloader but they are from the phones who where in hboot 1.44.000 ... Is there any way i can unlock the bootloader?. I went to HTCDEV.COM and i tried to unlock it, but when i go to command prompt and continue with the "fastboot oem etc"it gets stuck in waiting device and it doesnt do anything. I Have installed and uninstalled the drivers a couple of times and nothing... Im using Windows 8 and i dont know if there is a problem using it. BTW when i go to Device Manager and look for my phone i see that in portable devices it says android 1.0 with a triangle i tried to update the drivers but got no luck either.
If any of you people can help me i would be very happy... ohh and Thanks in Advance
PD: Im from Puerto Rico and my main language is Spanish so im truly sorry if guys find some grammar errors and i tried to follow the rules, if i posted it wrong PLEASE DONT DELETE IT, just tell me and i make the question in the right place! Thankls again

Download HTC sync manager, install it.
Go to control panel, uninstall programs and remove HTC sync manager but don't uninstall HTC drivers.
connect device to the computer and let the PC install drivers. Once done remove HTC from PC, place HTC on boot loader mode and select fastboot and connect device to computer, let the computer install android 1.0
Once installed on command prompt go to where you have the SDK and type fastboot devices, if the HTC one shows up you are good to go

My HTC One will be arriving in a few days, I'll let you know if I'm able to proceed further past this point and get you past it. In the meantime, I'm gonna scan the other threads for different methods and get back to you if I find anything solid.

I meant in terms of the rooting process. As for SDK, here's a helpful guide by Senior Member Apex, all credit goes to him: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1842969
