Close Kies from the system tray.
It is closed but again same problem
Are you using a HTC or Nokia usb cable?
1. use the original cable
2. kill all kies* pocesses in task manager
3. kill/shutdown all other htc/nokia/whatsoever software if present on your PC
4. try different USB plug (my friend had such problem with odin)
5. try different PC ;-)
should work...
hi all,
I'm after the flash driver for i9100 for use with odin and other flash programs.
At the momment it comes up as unknown device, when in download mode.
I've checked all over google and current download says over 12hrs so if anyone knows a quick link please help.
Download Kies. It'll install the drivers needed.

tried that, when it's in normal mode it gets reconised but as soon as i put it in download mode / flash mode, it says device unknown
Connect phone to KIES let KIES find phone .
Turn off phone and PC
Reboot and put phone in USB mass storage mode and connect with USB cable let PC find and install drivers .
Flashing turn KIES OFF
Open ODIN load required file in correct section
Put phone to download mode and read the instructions on the first download window .
Connect Samsung USB cable to a mainboard USB port .
You should now have yellow block showing in ODIN .

my phone freeze on the first screen with the galaxys2 logo and the yellow trigon...!!recovery mode mode dont work and when i am going in download mode the pc cant reccognice the phone..!!i have allready install the drivers...!!i want to install an official rom but odin cant see the phone.!!help
If you think you get working drivers installed, put your computer online, put your phone on download mode, plug the cable, and wait for it to install.
This is for windows 7, otherwise install the Samsung usb drivers again

That's hard.
If you do not get the PC recognize your phone in download mode, you have a real problem.
Try another USB port and cable.
Try to connect your phone to another PC.
Maybe you have to give it to a service center for repair.
Is your phone already out of warranty?
I had a similar problem where it freezes on that screen.
My problem was I installed an ICS rom with old version kernel.
Once I installed the latest CF-Root the boot was successful.
If Odin can't see your phone and you can still go into Download mode, I would check to make sure that Kies is not open and no Kies process is live (Task Manager / Processes), I think it's call "KiesTrayAgent", just kill the process and any process that has a Kies word in it.
Otherwise try another PC.
Hi all
I'm trying to root my UK-purchased i9300 using the cf-root guide here: http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/articles/403624/20121110/root-galaxy-s3-i9300-cfroot-official-jellybean.htm
My phone is running the OTA 4.1.1 which came down recently
I have installed the Samsung USB drivers from the above URL, which comes up as "Samsung USB Driver for Mobile Phones v1.3.850.0".
When I hook the phone up with USB debugging mode enabled, Windows 7 picks it up as a mass storage device only. No virtual com ports are configured which I suspect is why ODIN does not detect anything.
Could someone help me out please?
Thanks
Okay so installing the proper KIES + drivers now seems happier. Bear this in mind folks.
edit: Happier as in if the phone is booted up ODIN can now connect to it..
However, it's still not working when the phone is in Download mode.

Hi
I had a similar issue which seemed to resolve by starting the ODIN program first and then connecting the phone to the PC in download mode and then it was detected

Thanks, that doesn't work for me. I have a feeling it's this specific computer which is causing the issue so I will try another one this evening.
Using zadig.exe, it does not show the device at all when in download mode, but shows it fine in normal mode.
Had no problems with using a different machine. This problem was specific to one computer. Got to love Windows quirky USB sometimes.
Thanks for your replies folks.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 which was running Cyanogenmod 11 Snapshot M12 which had been running for a while but then I decided to revert back to the Samsung Stock ROM but chose to do it using Mobile Odin.
I have to admit that despite the phone warning me I had only 46% charge and needed 50% I foolishly thought the difference was so minor that it didn't matter. It did matter.
The phone stopped during the flashing process and now I see the Mobile phone . . Exclamation Mark yellow triangle . . PC icon on my phone screen with the message "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again."
I cannot get into recovery mode. I can get into Download Mode and I have tried to flash the stock ROM using Odin and Windows 7 (PC) but it stops dead at "Setupconnection" and Heimdall and Ubuntu 14.04 (laptop) but Heimdall does not see the device either. I have tried three different USB cables in 5 different USB sockets in my PC and 3 in my laptop.
I thought of using a USB Jig but from research it appears that would only put the phone in download mode which I can already do myself.
Does anyone have any other ideas please?
download any new firmware from sammobile.com and go to download mode and reinstall the new firmware
