[Q] Galaxy Tab 10.1 Firmware WITHOUT Touchwiz? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, before I get flamed for not searching, well, I did -
Did this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1171089
Rooted the tablet, installed the ROM located here:
http://droidbasement.com/galaxy/sys-backup/hc_31/
Flashed this ROM:
hc-3.1_ota-full_sam_tab_10.1.zip
But Touchwiz remained. I'm guessing the OTA indicates this is the stock ROM with the OTA Touchwiz update, so my question is... does anybody out there have a true stock ROM with NO Touchwiz?
Thanks much!

I also need a way to disable touch wizard on my tab

I'm looking for a HC 3.1 Update without TouchWIZ as well. Would like to update my Galaxy Tab 10.1v

Just curious- do you not like the touchwiz optimizations, or just the icon sets? Lots of folks come here complaining about TW without realizing that TW is much more than just a lighter-colored taskbar...

oh... I didn't get a notification for your reply...
I just don't really like the look of TW. the look and feel of the original ROM is nice as it is.
thx

[Q] Does anyone have stock AT&T boot animation zip?

Yes, I know....why, why, why?
I'm looking for stock AT&T bootanimation.zip to appear more stock even though I have root, Zedomax OC kernal, and lidroid toggles. I already fixed the yellow ! triangle with my jig (YAY!).
I have searched but cannot find a stock AT&T boot animation. Does anyone know where I can find one?
Thank you for your time and any help!

So..... why appear 'more' stock?

Yeah, I have the Samsung S bootanimation now.
I guess I was just trying to do it for the heck of it. I only have the S2 for 6 days but have noticed a smoothness with the stock rom that just isn't there with the deodexed roms I have tried. Plus, the wifi seems much more stable.
Thank you for the replies!

All the ROMs in the dev section except a couple are touchwiz ROMs. Please read the OP of the threads

Which one do you recommend that is close to the stock Rom, thanks.
Your question is confusing, and, like most first-time posters, doesn't include enough information.
What do you want this ROM to do? Do you want a "vanilla" ROM (without TW)? Do you want the stock ROM (stock ROMs for the GT10 all have touchwiz)? If you just want a stock ROM, why not just go with the one thats on your GT10 now? If you want a custom ROM, you need to say what you want it to do to get recommendations.
Bah, just look in the development section. There's only 4 or 5 ROMs there. If you don't know what you want then just pick one and try it.

Though it cannot be said close to the stock ROM, I suggest Galaxy Task ROM
Galaxy Task is the only one not themed so it is more like stock Touchwiz than other ROMs.
There are only 2 ROMs in the Dev section that are not Touchwiz and they indicate that. Alterbridge, Task650, and DutchDanny all have created awesome Touchwiz ROMs based on the current release of Honeycomb 3.2. Out of the 3, Task does not theme his anymore and is actually done by bOOsted in a separate thread. Dutchdanny released KMN stock without theme that you can check out.
Both are great and really it is up to you which to keep after flashing them.
Is there a reason it HAS to be stock? Just curious...

Question about rooting Galaxy S II

Hi,
I really want to get pure ics on my galaxy s II. Currently i'm on 2.3.4 gingerbread, unrooted.
I have asked a few questions about how to root my phone, and found a pretty straight forward tutorial, that users on xda have said is great to follow:
jayceooi.com/2011/08/04/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-s2-with-cf-root-video
Rooting the phone appears to be pretty straight forward using the above tutorial, but finding the correct rom is what im not so sure about.
Users on xda have told me to use:
forum.xda developers.com/show....php?t=1075278 , to find a rom, specifically the ones just above ++++++ [Frankenstein Firmwares] +++++++
The only problem is, how do i know which one to use, i gather its going to be the 4.0.3 roms, but there are so many varients for different countries, which one is for me?
Does it matter which one i choose? Is there differences between them?
*I have previously posted this thread elsewhere, and members have told me to resubmit it here, as I may get more help. I couple of forumers have mentioned that I should use the xwlp4 ROM as it is the latest ICS ROM.
Thanks,
By pure ics do you mean ics without touchwiz etc or do you mean a stock Samsung rom?
The Frankenstein ones on intratechs thread are Samsung based.
If you want pure ics without any of the Samsung bloat cm9 is a great option and is already 4.04
If you want Samsung based then the latest is lp4 I think.

If this is the case forget all the ROMS in Intratechs section, even the Frankenstein ones as they are all samsung originals with all the samsung apps and touchwiz.
If you are looking for a root / pure ICS option CM9 is a good start with terrific dev support. I've been using it for a while now and it really is rock solid and keeps improving.

ok cool, would that be the equivalent of something like this:
http://galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-r...ro-ics-rom-v-1-1-on-galaxy-s2-i9100-best-rom/
Not used that one myself but looks to be closer to the pure ics you are after.
I'd still give cm9 a try. There is a resurrection edition flashable through Odin.
Definitely preferable to the Samsung official ones!

SlimICS might work
You may want to search for Slim ICS... It's another light option.

I currently use this ROM. It has Apex Launcher so no Touchwiz, but it does have Samsung apps.
Although I'm no fan of TW or any of these apps, the ROM itself is great.
Go for HyDrOG3N-ICS with Siyah Kernel Best rom and kernel combo you're going to find out there for PURE ICS and lots of customization. It's stable, fast and really good battery life.

[Q] Revert to Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 Stock Rom

Is there somewhere where I can download a stock rom for the Galaxy Player 5.0? All the Custom Roms I downloaded for it had bugs and were not worth it. Could someone help me get a stock rom for it?
search the developer forum for the Stock. I'm pretty sure somebody posted a stock image and pit file somewhere in there.

IYes everything is in the sticky threads at development chapter..
Thanks to great work done by Zaclimon.
Assuming that you have the US version, here is the thread for the stock ROM.
Out of curiosity, which ROMs have you tried. I was considering trying another ROM after using the stock one for a few Weeks. What didn't work out?
I use chip rom for months and did not notice any bag.

I have RemicsUX right now. My brother has the same thing, but the camera doesn't work which he didn't like, and flash does not work either. Before that I had a jelly bean Rom (I forget which one) and the play store didn't work right.
I think I found a stock rom that will work now, thanks guys

[Q] Deodex stock rom?

Hello guys, I have a rooted GT-I9300 on stock android 4.3 with philz touch recovery.
So I like S5 a lot, but I can't afford one obviously. However, I would like to flash S5 stuffs like launcher and accuweather widget on this device. I've been struggling for some time, trying to find a way to deodex the stock android 4.3 rom. I came across a few methods like the xUltimate, titanium backup and so on, but none of these methods seems to work on our beloved S3... I'm not sure whether xUltimate works for S3 but so far I never come across S3 user who successfully deodex their device using this method. Titanium backup doesn't seems to work too since it only deodex apps, not the firmware... I know I can easily do this by flashing a deodexed stock rom, but I don't really want to flash another rom yet...
I'm sorry to ask this, but I'm running out of idea, so guys, is there any way to deodex the stock android 4.3 rom so that I can install mod like S5 launcher? Thank you for your help!
Any helps guys? I really can't find a proper solution
Why not use one of the stock roms here on xda that have already been deodexed by an expert?

Odex rom seems to perform better and more battery-friendly compared to a deodexed rom. I think it would be better for me to learn how to deodex/re-odex the rom so that I can re-odex the rom after I finished installing mods to ensure the best performance.
This thread is going down any helps?
