I can't get CWM installed on Epic 4G Touch! - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I installed the kernel with CWM and i did not find it anywhere. So i got ROM Manager and installed the original CWM and that doesnt work too well. I don't get why Samsung makes this so confusing? What do i do? I tried the link below.

Sorry but I didn't check any sites Anyway with this thread more people will see link for rom
Whats different about this over the base ROM that Nexus comes with?

P
LOL ahhh so I can flash it just to say I have flashed a ROM? SWEET!
Do ya'll think this could be flash on the HTC HD2? That would be nice.

I highly doubt it would work.
1. Do I flash this via the recovery screen -> flash zip?
2. Will this restore to factory default including un-rooting?
Thank you btw

This is not a regular update.zip, this is a NBH/ZIP and should be flashed via hboot.
where's the tutorial for hboot?

Look for the post that says [ROM] Original Shipping.... etc... Good luck. Let me know if you need help.
Anyone have an MD5 checksum for the original image?
I'd rather not blow up my N1 because of a stupid download.
In theory, you can't really blow it up. Worst case, it'll not boot and you should still be able to get back into boot loader, in which case, you can find the right image and reflash.

I think he was simply asking...
"if this is not a standard zip file, how do I go about flashing it".
Which could have been answered in a line or two, be it with directions or a link to directions
I am personally unable to get a file downloaded that isn't effed up. I posted in the other thread about it hoping someone would toss the file elsewhere for me to grab seeing as I am getting invalid archive errors from the MU hosted file.

How to backup Galaxy 5 with a ROM manager?

Hi
I am trying to using Clockwork to backup my ROM but it says that the Galaxy 5 is unsupported, has anyone got this working or used a different software?
Thanks
On SGP you can't use RomManager...
Just flash Entropy512 or rj's kernel with CWM then do a backup manually.
Thanks, I downloaded Entropy's one the other day, i notice it was for a US device and mine is an international one, i'm guessing this makes a difference?

That seems to be it.It did not come up in a search either guess because it is labeled mod recovery.
Thanks tarheeldan!

[Q] olityues confirmed

I have a Pantech Discover that is rooted, but I am unable to find a version of CWM Recovery that will work on this phone. I was wondering what the process would be to install a custom ROM, if it's even possible ?

After a quick search it seems like the furthest you can go with this device is root. According to this thread a recovery can not currently be installed, and therefore you cant install a rom.

Thats not the answer I was looking for, but I was afraid of that. Well, hopefully some more developers purchase this phone and begin more development. This is an extremely fast phone (5444 on Quadrant) and I am very happy with it so far. Thank for your quik response to my question.

[Q] Could use some help on installing philZ-cwm6

Okay so I have a Samsung galaxy s2 gt-i9100. I have rooted the phone and I thought to have installed cwm (which came with the root)
but I still boot into stock recovery (even though Rom manager tell me I have cwm 5.x.x installed or something along those lines).
I know now that the kernel resets to stock recovery. So i am running 4.1.2 and my build number (found in 'about phone') is JZO54K.I9100XWLSW.
I have downloaded 'philZ-cwm6-XWLSW-XEU-5.06.1.zip' from his XDA thread, and was wondering is this the right one for me. And since I am already rooted and all that I was also wondering if installing this will clash with my root and mess up everything- thanks in advance, I really appreciate the help.
You got the right one and are good to go.It won't "mess" anything, you'll basically get a stock kernel+cwm+root in a single flash.Good for starters if I may.
This is the exact method I used to root, and now I'm happily running my (probably) 30th different custom rom.......
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Developers app
Don't use ROM Manager on S2. Ever. It's a sure way to screw things up. For some reason it seems to end up corrupting recovery on S2.
Why are n00bs so attracted to Rom Manager ? It's **** on any device. Only lazy people use it on the devices it actually works properly on.

There was nothing 'not nice' about what I said. Rom Manager is a POS. Lazy people use it. You weren't specifically mentioned in my post, you were lumped in with all the other n00bs. There's nothing special about you in that regard.
See ? That last sentence was somewhat 'not nice' *adds you to my ignore list*
okay thanks everyone for the helpful replies, also I was just wondering whats the difference between XWLSW-OXX and the one I am going to use which is XWLSW-XEU? just out of curiosity -thanks
