Hi everyone.
I have recently upgraded my SGA from original 2.2.1 to 2.3.3 XXKPE and i have detected an issue when i try to use the WPA + AES combination. The phone detects the wifi but it tries to validate the password a few times and then it is disconnected...
When i tried to connect with the older firmware (Froyo 2.2.1) i could connect the first time but when i lost the connectivity my wifi changed it's state to error and the only way to reconnect was restarting the phone.
No issue detected with WEP or WPA + TKIP.
Anyone else has the same problem? If not, can you tell me your firmware version?
Many thanks in advance
Same situation: S5830 + ASUS WL500W works only with WPA TKIP. But with TKIP speed is limited to 54mbps. Android OS 2.3.4
Just picked up a Samsung Galaxy Ace running stock Android 2.3.4 (baseband S5830LUBKP7, kernel 2.6.35.7-perf-CL366939 [email protected] #1), and seem to be having this same problem.
My home wifi is set to WPA2 Personal+AES, and when the correct passphrase is entered, the Ace just continuously cycles through "Connecting... Disconnected", over and over.
If I drop back to WPA Personal+AES, I get the exact same thing. *However*, if I drop to WPA Personal+TKIP, the phone connects immediately.
I really don't want to use TKIP, as it has known exploits. Is there a known FOTA update for a US-market, unbranded Galaxy Ace that fixes this, or is there any known workaround except "don't use AES"?
try DDKQ6
after flashing DDQK6, reboot phone and enter PIN
then reboot again but in recovery and install CWM5
reboot and wipe data/cache/dalvik and reboot

Thanks for the info. I'm new to flashing phones, would kinda like to stay stock if possible, since this is my wife's phone, not my own. Am I correct in thinking DDQK6 is an Indian firmware? If so, what would differ from US-market firmware, and would I potentially lose any features or cause any unusual behavior by switching to it?

Just update it over the air from setting -> about/phone -> update.
Make sure you have backed up the data like contacts and sms.
Hey, hey!! Problem with wifi? I'm an expert on this But I came with bad news, though.
What I found out:
There's indeed a bug that prevents us from connecting to this kind of wireless (eduroam, in my case). Everything seems to come from a buggy version of wpa_supplicant, everything goes well but then, in the second phase, it seems to "forget" the password or something (I'm not an expert, sorry, can't explain any better) I've been trying to change it, but no luck.
I've tried most of the stock firmwares, and custom roms as well. No luck, still the same bug.
There's an app that claims to fix the problem. wifi ace if I remember well (advanced config editor). But it didn't fix anything for me. You may want to give it a try.
I was expecting for samsung to fix it, but I've lost my faith on it. Neither google seems to be doing anything, as the bug remains on android 4.0.
I can provide you with some links, in case you want to read more about. And please, let me know if you find something.

No need to be sorry. You're replying to a thread that's current, in that I replied to it with my own problem. (And I did so because it was the only thread that came up in the Ace forum on a search for AES, which seems to be specific to the problem. Didn't seem to make sense to start a new thread when this one covers the same topic.)
i've just flashed the openOptimus build 2.202.1 and installed gtalk through open script. when i tried to open it an error message came " the application talk has stopped unexpectedly."
everytime i try to access it the same error message is coming.
what could be the problem?
please reply asap
Gotta remember openoptimus 2 is still on its first release, bring this to the attention of caiox, see if this is a known issue or just a fluke. Maybe, factory reset.

yes i did factory reset but no luck. Another problem i am facing is the random reboots. phone hangs and then it restarts.
found another bug. when i turn off the screen wifi gets disconnected. i've also set the sleep policy to "never" but still it gets disconnected.
i cant post this in dev section as my post count is less.
ahh messenger notifications are also no working. i've to turn on the sreen and then notifications come. this happens both on wifi and data.
anyways i am going back to andy's rom. it was far stable one.

**** eh, well answer some questions like mad in the general section. Or even PM the guy, I'm sure he wouldn't mind bro
@OP: I suggest
- wipe /data
- wipe /cache
- wipe dalvik-cache
- format system
- reinstall from scratch and do NOT restore any of the apps/data junk you had via TB or any other application
After that, you will not have a FUBARed phone any more.
I have same problem.
I already restored via openscript, its said successfull, but when I open, its said the application talk has stopped unexpectedly..
When I installed as usual, its said: Application Not Installed.
I've got some problem with my phone (in this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1235725)
what I did now is just leave it that way (restoring the backup I did 2 day ago) and installing a now ROM ( congition 1.5) now all of a sudden my Kies air stop working!
Every time I pushed start the app shutdown.
what can I do to fix this problem? and can someone also answer my question about TB in the link above?
Hi,
I have a little problem..when I on my phone go read my mail and when I wanna download some material in Word it doesn't want to download it..what is solution?
I think that I've just understood what is my problem with my phone.
I think the problem is with my WIFI/GPS/tracking system. Except from my problem using Kies I've also encounter with problem using Foursquare's check in Option, and using navigation with Google's Maps.
I think that I've done something to my phone when I've done the system Data wipe and by that started all of those problems.
Please don't start a new thread in future. You've already got an existing thread, so opening another one is just cluttering up the forum even more.
ok sorry.
Can anybody answer me?
Please can you help me with that?
please can someone help me with that?? I'm waiting for almost a week for an answer.
Nobody can understand your post .
Link does not work .
Cognition rom and Kies problem ask in Cognition thread makes a lot more sense .
jje
I can't connect to Kies, and apps that are using GPS, like Foursquare, Doesn't get a fix on my place.
and I'm not using Congition anymore I'm using Litening 6.1 and those problems are still happening.

hi mate.
First of all you if you need help or favor you would need to put some more information such as:
1st: Tell us whether you are on a stock rom or custom rom.
2nd: is it a rooted or unrooted phone.
3rd: If you are using custom rom then whose rom ur using.
4: Have you done some changes recently in your phone before having this issues.
5. which base band and kernel you are on ( u can check if u go settings and then About phone )
after all this probably someone or all of us will be able to help you.

Hey stanzzz,
Sorry i am a bit tenses, so couldnt provide much info earlier. Here you go with the more detailed reply:
1st: Its a custom rom WB 6.0.S
2nd: it is a rooted phone.
3: I dont remember doing a major change. just installed some apps from market and updated some apps
5. baseband is 2.1.71 and kernel is 2.6.29.
Please let me know if any more information is required..
Please help.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In my opinion you should do a fresh install again. i was on wolf rom a while ago and never had any issues with it. may be do a fresh install.
so 1st format data(backup ur contact or sync with google and backup only your apps(not data) via zemna (free app in market.)
2 nd : format chache, then wipe dalvic cache. do it like 2 or 3 times.
3rd install the rom again. pretty sure you will be fine..
if you still have issues try some other ROM just to see if its Wolf rom or something else. if you are not that fussed abt timescape try "Violence CM7- ZMOD tweaked. i am using it and its super fast with good network ..sorry DONT try violence ROM as its for unlocked BL UNLESS YOU ARE COMFORTABLE.
ru sure ur baseband is 2.1.71?? if its there still try flashing the baseband again !!
first, if you are on stock ROM, you might want to do a Repair thru PC Companion. Do a backup first of the things you need to save (i.e. messages, contacts, etc.).
if you are on a custom ROM, you do the same as well, Repair first thru PC Companion (or SEUS if you like), then root, reinstall xRec (or CWM), then reflash your custom ROM.
I actually had a similar (?) problem with the WB rom. From time to time (I am going to emphasize that this does not happen often at all and only happens if I lose signal for a long period of time without turning my phone to airplane mode and then going back to a place with signal), my phone will lose its connection to my service provider. The signal bar will be strong but if I scroll down the status bar, it'd say "Emergency Call Only". I was unable to dial out or receive calls. The only way I managed to fix this is to take out both the battery and the sim card for a good 5 minutes and then replug eveyrthing in and reboot. If you haven't reflashed yet, you can try that.
But if you reflash WB rom or another rom, I would also suggest 2 things:
1. Back up a working rom immediately so if this happens again, you can use backup
2. See what apps you downloaded off market. Check what you updated as well. Remember not all apps in market are "safe"--some apps can really screw your phone. Some apps also have funny reactions to phones. So test each app after installation to find the problem app.

This problem maybe is easier than you think, this behaviour of the phone its the same when you modify a contact and check the box to send the call to voicemail, you dont even notice the incoming call, but when you see the call logs, call is there, check that first.
Hey guys,
I hope someone will know the answer to my problems, I'll try to keep this short. (English is not my first language so excuse me for any mistakes I make).
Around 2 months ago I couldn't connect to my wifi, I tried everything, but eventually I thought the only solution was to factory reset my Samsung Galaxy S2.
That turned out to be a stupid decision. I made a back up of my media files, so those were safe. But the option to make a back up of your contacts using google didn't work, so I lost all my contacts, whatsapp messages and text messages.
Factory resetting my phone was the solution to the wifi problem though, so I was happy with that. And in the mean time I've gotten a lot of my contacts back, so that's not that kind of a big issue to me anymore.
But now I have a new problem. My phone can't update it's firmware anymore. I've tried using the update function from the phone, but it says it can't connect to the server. And using KIES, it says that the phone can't be updated as well. Now it's running on 2.3.5 and I'd really like to get the new OS available. (This is problem #1).
Problem #2 is the fact that in the last few days my battery has been incredibly weak. Normally I could last 1,5 days to 2 days with a fully charged battery, but now it seems to only last about 4-6 hours. The phone seemed to be a lot warmer as well.
I've tried to find a solution for problem #1, and all I could find is that maybe the factory reset changed the settings of which country your phone is from (I'm from the Netherlands), and that this is the reason why I can't update my phone.
In the thread I found they were talking about using #1234# and checking the codes there, but when I use this my phone displays (translated) ''connection problem or wrong MMI-code''. So I can't check if the data changed after the factory reset.
What should I do next?
Thanks in advance.
Hello there mate.
Im not a dev or something but from different cases that i've seen with many GS2 phones i think i can help you ( i hope at least ).
First of all i think you can easily update with odin to the new ICS firmware Samsung has for GS2.( If you use windows 7 run as administirator )
You can find many tutorials on youtube of how to do that.
Remember to back up all of your data before updating because they will be erased.
After installing fresh ICS firmware (official 4.0.3) you will need to do a factory reset.
Now for your second problem i think it might be an app problem which requires power from your CPU and that's why your phone is overheating and the battery is draining that fast.
I would suggest after using an app to kill it via the task manager so it won't run at the background demanding dedication from the system.
If that doesn't work also try re-installing all of your apps.
Hope you find this kinda useful friend and solve your problems.Take care
Thanks for the reply!
But before I upgrade with odin, don't I need to know the codes (representing where your phone is from etc.)?
I've found them under settings. They are:
Baseband: I9100XXKI4
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKJ3-CL647431 [email protected]#2
Build number:GINGERBREAD.XWKJ3.
And how do I backup all my files? Especially contacts, text messages and whatsapp messages?
No problem ! Im glad that you found my info somehow helpful!
Now as i said earlier im not that kind of expert so giving the current sittuation i don't really know. You should search on the internet for your firmware available for your country and also you can search at sammobile.com then go to firmwares then select the Smartphone option then Android and you should be good to choose the firmware and download it for your region/country. ( Terribly sorry for not giving a link but xda forums are saying that i need more than 10 posts to post a link.
So good luck with that one :good:
I never tried it myself but i've seen that people backup their contacts, texts and apps with KIES so you should give it a try :good:
Either than that, this is all i know and im really sorry if i can't help you any further as im new here too
Alright thanks for the help.
I made a backup of my contacts, whatsapp messages and text messages on my SD card. I'm almost gonna start using Odin. (You don't need a rooted device in order for Odin to work, right?). And I also only got a .tar file from the downloaded package from Sammobile.com, is that all I need?
I'll post the results
Yes Odin will work with unrooted and rooted devices!
I don't know if that's the file, i would do a little search before updating about the files and remember to watch a video on youtube to help you with the process !
Things to remember : If you are on windows vista/7 run Odin as administirator
After installing the firmware do a factory reset / clear cache
Good luck! I hope somebody more experienced than me will help you better than i did . :good:
Haha alright thanks for the help.
I used Odin this afternoon, with succes! I updated to 4.0.3 (only using the .tar file) and after that I factory reset my phone.
Also, I managed to succesfully retain my text/whatsappp messages + contacts, so everything's fine.
I'm going to try out my phone for a couple of days and I'll report if anythings wrong with it.
Really glad that things went in the right direction for you
Just a quick thought now, our Samsung Galaxy S2 will get a new update to 4.0.4 which is reported to be far better than the current one and will be available on the upcoming weeks so be prepared to do another update
But anyway you did a great job! :good:
