Hello everyone,
I'm new to android development, but not to mobile development.
What I'm trying to create is the basis for a tablet note-taking app for handwritten notes. The simple problem is: I've read all the tutorials on the sdk website and tried the specific example found there (http://developer.android.com/resour...example/android/apis/graphics/TouchPaint.html) but I don't understand how to get a CONTINUOUS line of points where the user touches.. with every example, if I draw a line slowly it gets perfectly, formed of the circles drawn at every touch location, but if I move my finger faster, the dots get far from one another as the input (or output?) can't cope with the speed.. so how do I get a basic handwriting right?
thank you all
I'm not experienced in this kind of development, but here's a thought:
Instead of drawing dots on each touch event, why don't you do the following:
On each of the touch events, instead of drawing a circle at the current position, draw a line between the current and the previous one. This way there would be no interruptions.
I thought about that, but how can I know when the line curves? because if I draw a line from the ACTION_DOWN to the ACTION_UP of the motionevent, I obviously get a straight line between the two points, even if the user didn't draw a straight line. I must know how when the touch input makes an angle and draw to that point... but I have no idea how to do that...

Hi everyone
I'm very new here and new to the world of developing. I've recently used Buzztouch to make my first simple Android app for my rugby team. It's made up generally of RSS feeds from a wordpress blog that show our results and match reports.
The problem I'm having is this: When I used the app on my wife's HTC desire, it works perfectly, with the display just right. When I used my Galaxy Nexus, the text from the RSS feed is tiny and only uses half the screen. (happy to send some screenshots but won't let me as I'm new here)
Can anyone point me in the right direction? Is this a case that I have to simply change a setting on my display or is it something a bit larger (please use n00b language as much as possible for my simple ears! )
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

I am super new to development but really enjoying it and would like some assistance porting a yahoo widget. (Mostly javascript it seems) to function inside my android app. I personally dont have the knowledge for this but learn quickly and would like some help if anyone can spare a little time to show me the basic's of this particular action. The Widget seems pretty simple. It has really one main function. It logs a player in, checks to see if he's currently in a race and if not begins one for him, then repeats the check and start periodically.
Thanks for reading.

I'm looking for an app that will place a mouse cursor on my tablet (Transformer Prime) and be able to control the cursor with my cell phone. Similar to the apps that controls a PC mouse cursor with a cell phone.
I'd try to do it but I don't know any programming at all (Unless GW Basic is still used ).
Thanks

So I post this in the Android software development section so Dev's can see my request then it's moved to the Android Q&A where it get relegated to page 4 in a matter of hours.
How is a request for app development supposed to be seen by the talented DEV's here in a Q&A forum? I would think more DEV's hang out in the SW development forum than in the Q&A.
Oh well, so much for LOGIC.
I am in need of a app to help with presentations during youth meetings in my church. I need something along the lines of ipad's keynote + airplay so that powerpoint presentations with notes can be stored and displayed via upnp/dlna from my tablet on our presentation screen- I dont always have time to load the powerpoints to the pc and make the small format changes that always seem to be required when you copy a ppt file to another computer and since the pc has both xbmc and windows media center and the screen has a apple tv something should be doable. If this already exsists please link it 'cuz I have been wearing out search xda and google. In review I need to see thumbnails of my slides and see my notes on the tablet and wirelessly display my slides on the screen.
Not sure what the best option for this is. I will also be looking into this. Right now I just use Evernote on my Android for Wednesday night youth lessons. But I can definitely see the benefit to having something that can give me a presenter view for a slide show... Not sure if there is anything but it would be nice if we could find something or if someone could develop something...

I thank you for enforcing the rules (even hit the thanks buton) but do need to say that you did so in a very rude way.
[begin rant]
I posted in the SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT forum because I was trying to kill two birds with one stone as the saying goes by asking if such software had been developed and if not to maybe give a SOFTWARE DEVELOPER an idea for a SOFTWARE to DEVELOP. Therefore I thought to be encouraging development. I understand that you did not see it this way and respect the rule of the mod - I understand the need for "mod word is law" policy and " iron fist " - I just wish you had done so in a less rude way - maybe explain your reasoning - basicly I'm saying follow the rule that says respect other members- would help keep noobs around so they can learn more and one day contribute back to this community.
[/end rant]
This thread should now go back on topic and stay there please.
Anybody have any solutions?
one final bump before i let this thread die.
Bump!
Is anyone aware of a mod, ROM, app or other that would turn an older model (or even a newer) android "Smart Phone" into a "Dumb Phone"?
I'm looking for something that would be suitable for geriatric or developmentally disabled persons to use. One single home screen with 4 or 6 BIG icons. Scrolling pictures for contacts, tap to dial.
I have parents in their mid-eighties who are technology challenged, and a son with fairly severe cerebral palsy. All of them could use something like this.
I hope you can see where I'm going with this, just wondering if there's anything already out there, or, if not, if there's any interest in something like this.
BIG Launcher seems to fit the bill for what you're asking for, six buttons and no scrolling home screens.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=name.kunes.android.launcher.activity&hl=en The full version is a Paid app but there's also a free one.
Just get them a Nokia 3310,3210 or 5110
