[Q] SG2 does not connect to PC - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Hello all ,
I am new here , I spent time and time try to read how to root my new SG2 (ATT) .... I had 1 problem and can't figure out why that my pc does not recognize the phone ...I download the kies and driver from samsung and it's still not recognize the phone .
Please help .
Thanks .
p/s I came from Iphone 4 and JB unlock iphone from 3g,3gs,4g ....I just switch to Samsung Android 3 day ago .... 1 thing I for sure that SG2 killed iphone 4 ....don't know about iphone 4s yet .

Make sure dev mode is enabled under USB

Is that : setting >dev>USb debug checked ?
It's checked at that mode .
The kies air work fine .....just the pc connect didn't work

I think my problem is may be windows version ....my is 32bit ...so I have to find another comp with win 7-64 bit and try it out .

Mine won't connect unless Dev mode is turned off. If its enabled Kies gives an error about not being able to connect in this mode.

You also won't see the phone on your PC when you plug in the USB, until you slide down App Drawer and tap USB Connected, then tap "Turn on USB Storage".

Got my work with PC ....just uncheck the USB debugging before connect to PC .

i also had the exact same problem today, if usb debug was enabled, the pc would not recognize the phone. Once usb debug was disabled, the phone appeared in file explorer. FYI i did not try to slide down the status panel at the top so im not sure if that is how you do it when usb debugging is enabled.

[Q] Please help: Kies not connecting...

Hi, I have a problem connecting to Kies. I have been searching for hours over the internet for a solution but nothing worked.
Until yesterday I was connecting normally to Kies, syncing my mobile and checking for updates. Yesterday Kies gave me a message that there is a new update (for kies software), so I accepted the update and got the latest version (2.0.3.11082_152). Since I did that i couldnt connect my SGS2 to Kies again. It keeps on saying "connecting" on the screen but never ends and never show my SGS2 under "connected devices" .
I already have "debugging mode" unchecked. I used the option to update drivers several times. I tried to download Kies again at least 8 times (both the latest version as well as the original version I previously had), I tried unmounting my SD card, I tried several USB cables, but still getting "connecting" that stays forever.
BTW, I can connect to my PC in USB storage mode.
I have stock Android 2.3.3 with Kernel version JPKH1 (Arabic enabled).
I really appreciate any help from anyone.
I have read in many forums that I need to pick "Kies mode" by going to Settings>Wireless and network> USB settings. Well, on my phone when I go to Settings>Wireless and netwrok I dont have "USB settings" in the list but have "USB utilities" instead. Under "USB utilities" the only option I have is USB mass storage. IS THIS WHAT OTHERS HAVE ON THEIR SGS2s ???
same prob
Anyone, PLEASE....

Off course thats what we all have your other forums are talking nonsense .
Suggestion turn phone OFF turn PC off reboot PC Reboot phone .
Start Kies connect Samsung USB cable .
Wait for Kies to connect .
jje
And make sure you run Kies as Administrator if you are running Win7
I used to have the same issue.
If you are using a 3rd party launcher, try turning that off and returning to touch wiz, as that caused issues for me, also make sure the phone is unlocked.
Failing that, turn the computer off, and plug the phone in, and then boot the computer back up, that might force it to install the drivers.
Same problem with me.i have win xp.but newer kies verson does not support sgs2.one another problem is i accidently uninstalled samsung usb driver for mobile phone.now i connect phone with pc via usb cable, the pc every time says fond new hardware and try to install it but could not sucseed.when i manually install driver,pc every time says "mobile phone has being used, eject the phone and reboot pc then install usb driver".where no phone is conected.why pc says eject phone where no phone is conected? Please help me please.

Saolved: Kies not connecting
Hi. To any who is faing this problem, here is the soultion that worked with me.
After trying everything, from rebooting PC and phone several times, using Kies "Resoultion Connection Eror" to download drivers many times, making sure the USB debugging is turned off from setting, etc,,,,, NOTHING WORKED
So:
1- I disconnected my phone from PC
2- I went to PC Control Panel>System and Maintenance>System>Device Manager
Under "USB Controllers" I didnt find anything with Samsung name. Instead, I found 2 entries under the name "USB Composite Device". Using right click I uninstalled them.
3- I reconnected my phone with Kies closed. As soon as I reconnected my phone, I had a message saying that Samsung Drivers are being added
4- I opened KIES, and Voila... my phone connected and I could see its name under Kies connected devices.
5- Now under Device Manager I can see "Samsung Mobile USB Composite Device"
My interpretation is that although I tried to update the Samsung drivers thru Kies many times, the drivers that already existed for the "USB Composite Device" (which I uninstalled in step 2) were forbidding Samsung drivers to take their place. So when I unistalled the USB Composite Devices everything worked the way ot should.
Hope this could help anyone who faces this problem.
Solved!!
Just go through the trouble shooting procedure which shows up on the screen when Kies is running and your device is not able to connect. It'll download some driver and automatically fix the issue.

I have tried that and nothing :/
Try turning USB debugging off and try again...
By the way, you're on stock 2.1 correct?
Sent from my SGH-T959 (Samsung Vibrant)
i have try that and nothing
i have try easytether driver
the msi program and all sort of things
and im in 2.2
So USB debugging won't work. Kies/Sammy drivers won't work. I have a radical idea. Maybe your computer won't recognize the drive as a Mass Storage device b/c the drive letter got deleted somehow. This has happened to me on a few phones when flashing-fantastic.
Try this and see. It is for XP but I suspect there are similar solutions if you are on W7.
ill chek it out but i have try my phone in 3 direrent computers and nothing :/
the strange thing is when i plug it in to the PC it only charges
but when i plug it in to de AC adater it goes into debuging mode 0.o
Now i turned debuging off and turned mass storage on
and when i plug it to charge it says USB connected phone conected to computer 0.o
Try these steps:
1. Disconnect your phone from your PC
2. Setting
3. Wireless & Network
4. USB
5. Click the last option (don't remember)
6. Reconnect your phone again
Good luck

[Q] GS3 not getting connected to the pc (xp)

Hello everyone
well... first of all i am not new to android , i have tried all the tricks in the book to get my galaxy s 3 connected to my pc , in mass storage mode.. but all my efforts have resulted in failures . i can use the usb teetering but surprisingly i can not get it to mass storage mode..
1)i have installed the required drivers
2)i have also installed kies ( it keeps saying connecting forever)
3) i wipe the cache in recovery and tried but still no luck
4) rebooted the pc many times but no use
5)the usb debugging is unticked
next i m going to root my device and then use a 3rd party sd mount app, but is there any other option you people could suggest me to try ???
Turn off USB Debugging .
Turn off phone .
Install latest Kies .
Reboot computer .
Power on phone and connect using Samsung USB cable to a main board USB port ..
Let windows find the USB drivers .
Then start KIES .
Other choice is to remove all USB drivers from the port you are using .

from everything i have read so far about the phone the S3 doesnt support usb mass storage mode out of the box. but there is an app that you can download from the themes and app section that will let you connect your phone to the pc in mass storage mode.

thanks for your reply friend,
but after researching a lot i found a few solutions...
here is one
install kies, and after installing kies also install this exe (Microsoft_User-Mode_Driver_Framework_Install-v1.0-WinXP)
this solution helped many people connect their devices.. but i still couldnt connect it
then finally i had to use my friends laptop with win 7 .. and it was connected
I am guessing you run quite an old version of XP... on my friends pc, the phone was recognised but I couldn't transfer files,
Mpf mode isn't supported on old xp versions, you gotta get yourself the driver

same thing is happening to me
May sound stupid but need to start at the most basic level, have you tried other usb ports?
Are you trying it on USB 3 or USB 2 ports? Mine acts a little funny sometime on the USB 3 port, however it is rock solid on the USB 2 port.
Connecting to PC
Try this, go to start button, right click on my computer and click on device manager. Under Device manager you should see MTP device. If there is non visible, then you will need to download the Samsung Galaxy S3 usb drivers. If you do see this device then uninstall the drivers and click on delete drivers. Then scan for hardware changes and click on automatically look for drivers( it will download them from the internet)
This is what I did and it worked for me
P.S it does not matter if you plugged it into a USB 2 or USB 3 port.
