[Q] Need pointed in the right direction plz! - HTC EVO 3D

I have the Evo 3d cdma with hboot 1.50. Installed the TWRP recovery. Flashed Craynogen ROM. I have PRL 21081 and am stuck on 1x. Also when i try to use the wifi it says error. I did the logcat thing and when I try to turn on the wifi it says failed to load wifi driver. Love this rom but have no data. I cant post in the development thread cuz I dont have enough posts. Thanks!

I also can not flash any other rom. They just freeze in boot up. My phones a mess dunno what to do next plz help!?

You need to use fastboot to boot recovery nothing else will work on the 1.50 hboot. Pull battery and hold volume down to get to bootloader. Open computer and navigate to sdk folders where u have fastboot.exe and open a cmd window in that folder (shift+right click and open cmd window here) connect your phone and type *fastboot reboot recovery* not the * part just the cmd then hit enter. Phone should boot to recovery. Now just reflash cyanogen mod and gapps and reboot. Should be all good then. Remember to wipe data cache and dalvik cache and optionally battery stats.

My ADB is in the platform-tools folder instead of tools so I had to move some files around. But its working now thanks

U can only bypass your s-on by booting recovery with fastboot other wise you can't flash the kernels and ramdisk so essentially your errors were from running a 2.3.5 aosp rom on a 2.3.4 stock sense kernel. I'm surprised it even booted. Just rember to boot recovery with fastboot and you'll be good from here on out.

Ok to do this you need to have android sdk and clockworkmod recovery image (its here on the site somewhere). Then what you do next is put the recovery image in the same folder as your fastboot.exe. after that look on your phone and go to "settings>power" and then uncheck fastboot. After that, get on your command prompt on your pc and redirect to your folder with fastboot (it should have adb.exe also) and type "adb reboot-bootloader. Once your phone revolts into bootloader use the power button and select "fastboot" then plug your phone up to your pc. And at the top it should say "fastboot usb". Then go back too the command prompt and type "fastboot boot recovery cwm.img" (or whatever the name of your recovery image is). Now let it finish, and hit the power button again to exit fastboot. Then select recovery, and flash your ROM from here (it needs to be on your SD card). Hope I helped

I think I may finally be understanding...so if you don't have S-Off, flashing a ROM is a two-step process: fastboot to flash protected memory, and then from recover to flash system and data partitions?
Given a particular image, how do I know which fastboot keywords to use? How do I flash a kernel, for example?

Yeah bro I booted into CWM via CMD With my pc on my 3vo n' it worked dat way. I'm just guessing here but i think dat if u have S-ON u have to reboot into recovery via fastboot to flash. Dat way u gain admin privileges and stuff. I think I finally got It, wat a relief !!!

[GUIDE]How to get past boot screen freezing!

Hello! Sorry for posting this here, Idk if this is the right area for this kind of thing but anyways lets get started!!
Im sorry if this had already been posted, I have searched the forums before to see If someone had found a solution while I was having the error!
Sorry for this, but I posted this already here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1370478 So moderators will you please delete the above post! Thanks so much!
This has happened to me so many times, I got frustrated, then I tried this out of the blue and it seemed to work..
Some examples of ROMS that froze on boot on my HTC EVO 3D HBOOT 1.5
All Infected ROMS
MIUI
Synergy
Senseless ROM
CleanRom
and some others..
These are the steps I took to fix the issue!
1. Flash ROM and see if it freezes on boot, if it does start below
2. After flashing rom and confirming that it does freeze.. Boot into bootloader (Power+volume down key) and press the power button while highlighted over fastboot.
3. Plug in your device into PC or MAC
4. Make sure you have the latest android SDK, im pretty sure you do if you have been flashing roms!
5. EXTRACT the .zip file of the ROM that you are using that freezes.
6. Open the folder and copy the boot.img from that ROM
7. Paste that .img into the folder that has your adb and fastboot files for the Android SDK!
8. in terminal navigate to that folder, and do the following commands
PC:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Ive done it on the PC and most of the time I have issues.. like failing of transferring over of the boot.img.. So far I don't know a way around this besides to keep trying!!
MAC:
Code:
./fastboot flash boot boot.img
Ive done it on my mac as well, and so far I have had no errors! It works everytime.
9. After that reboot your phone..
10. Watch in awe as your phone should reboot and not freeze!

Your problem lies in your HBOOT 1.5.... you need to flash the kernel separately, either the way you described it, or I think theres an app called FlashGUI
or just access recovery from fastboot & flash like normal.
This should be moved

This.
Maybe OP doesn't know about it so I'll guide him.
OP, we appreciate you trying to help but if you follow the steps below you should have no problem.
1. Download the Rom you want and place it on your sd card.
2. Plug your phone in to your computer and open a cmd file where 'adb' is located and type "adb reboot bootloader".
3. Your phone will now restart and boot into bootloader. Now type in "fastboot boot recovery.img". Your phone will now boot into your recovery.
(At this point, you can unplug your phone.)
4. Use the recovery as how you normally would and wipe/flash, etc.
Enjoy.

Yes I do this, and I still have to do what I provided up above. Idk what is wrong with my phone.
Your recovery can't flash kernels. Hence the boot loop.
There is a program in the evo3d theme and apps forum for us 1.5 boot loader users to flash the kernel using an app in android then you reboot to recovery and flash rom.
The app is called flash image GUI

this worked for me it was hanging at the htc white logo screen did this steps and the phone passed the first boot logo and it turned on fine!!!
That's due to not flashin a kernel right or you skipped a part of the wipe.
Virus has this guide for flashing the kernel on his page
The problem with using this "Flash Image GUI" is the FACT that if an individual can't boot a ROM, they obviously can't run the apk.
Individuals with HBOOT 1.5 have two choices in this situation (bootloop)...
Either
1. "adb reboot bootloader" after which you run "fastboot boot recovery.img" (recovery.img must be placed in fastboot directory), then you flash the ROM/kernel in question...
Or
2. Flash boot.img through fastboot (which is what the above "should" do in the fist place).
BTW: If you always have a problem with bootloops, you aren't loading recovery the way you should...
You can either run the commands mentioned earlier in this post, or go to
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.pho?t=1403148
and download the batch in the second post "jthein1989_batch.zip" (you will still need to download and copy the recovery.img to the folder).
Just download twrp or clockwork and copy it as "recovery.img" to the directory that you unzipped the batch to... Then, just follow the OP of my thread...

With HBOOT 1.5 you "can" start recovery without ABD, but "S-ON" will not allow you to properly flash to the BOOT partition (limitation of the HTC unlock method). Therefore, users with HBOOT 1.5 need to go to extra lengths to flash the BOOT partition.

Having HBOOT 1.5, I've ran into this very problem. I'm not sure if it's hardware or what, but my phone will not run any Sense 3.5 ROM's I've tried. The phone just won't boot! I gave up trying 3.5 ROM's. I used ABD to put a 3.0 kernel back on and restore the recovery and everything is fine again. This will probably be my last HTC phone. Hoping something better besides the S2 is coming soon.

(GUIDE)Hboot 1.50 users! If your having trouble flashing a ROM come check this out!

If you are having trouble with flashing a ROM and getting like a black screen after HTC screen on startup or anything else THEN THIS IS WHY!
IT'S EITHER BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE TWRP RECOVERY FOR HBOOT 1.50, or your phone is messed up.
How to get this recovery!
1.) Download the .img file to a folder with fastboot in the folder
2.) Goto the start menu and type run and open run
3.) While in run type cmd and hit enter
4.) Command this by going to your folder with the fastboot and img files are (ex. Mine would be at "cd C:\fastboot" without qoutes)
5.) Go on your phone to bootloader, then coonect USB from pc to phone.
6.) Go to fastboot (it will say fastboot usb)
7.) Go back to command prompt and type in "fastboot flash recovery twrp-shooter-2.0.0RC0.img"
8.) Once done type in "fastboot boot twrp-shooter-2.0.0RC0.img"
9.) Theres your correct recovery!
Download is at this http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/twrp-shooter-2.0.0RC0.1.img
Good luck!

HELP!!! I think i bricked my phone!!

OK so I have the Sprint EVO 4G LTE with 1.22.651.3 on it, rooted, S-ON. I have the Team Win Recovery Project v.2.1.8 on it as well with hboot 1.15. I tried loading the newest rooted software 2.13.651.1 710RD and voila.... paperweight. I tried reloading 1.22.651.3 and nothing. I can still boot to the bootloader and TWRP recovery, but nothing seems to work and now because sprint screwed up and removed my total equipment protection service from my plan, I don't have insurance on the phone. PLEASE HELP!!!
You just need to flash the kernel, extract it from the Rom (boot.img) and place it in adb folder, connect phone I'm bootloader and type fastboot flash boot boot.img
You can also flash meanrom, it has a working kernel installer, just let it sit because the kernel installer does take awhile 5-10 minutes

Can you explain how to do this in greater detail? I'm experienced only enough to be dangerous to myself lol
This program should install the kernel that you need. If not you are supposed to be able to swap boot.img files that it will install.

This is for the One S but it's the same process for our phones also.
Sorry I've been in a low coverage area and just got home. Open the Rom, extract the boot.img, open adb folder or SDK, hold shift and right click, select open command window here, connect phone in fastboot and type fastboot flash boot boot.img
So I tried to use that program to flash the boot.img from the fastboot screen but the computer wouldnt connect to the phone... now what?
Boot from system into hboot and fast boot while plugged in via USB. Helps your PC determine drivers.
Also, if you need a guide for setting up adb/fastboot, Google a YouTube vid by qbking77 on how to unlock galaxy nexus bootloader, it links to a great tutorial.

do you have SDK installed on your computer? If not install it. Go through the setup (set up your your environment variables) for fastboot.
Make a copy of the boot.img from a ROM of your choice. Place it in a folder on your desktop name the folder (android) leave the folder open.
Open cmd
Type cd Desktop press enter
Type cd android press enter
Type fastboot flash boot boot.img
After that it should say sending then OK
After that go into recovery then flash the ROM
you should be good to go then...

The full SDK is not necessary, just the debug tools
ADB Tools
Also you can directly open the command prompt from within the folder by holding shift and opening the context menu (shift+right click) then select open command window here
i keep getting a message in windows "usb device not recognized" so i switched usb cables and finally got that program to load the boot.img file, then flashed a rom in bootloader but its still not booting... any ideas?
Did you make sure to wipe the phone first? What rom are you trying to flash?
wiped phone first and now trying to flash 2.13.651.1 after loading boot.img thru that program
you have to find a way to update your twrp to version 2.2.0 cause this is the culprit that gave you the issues. did you make a backup try doing a restore to get back up and running then download goomanager from the google play store and install the latest twrp here is a video to update to the latest twrp through goomanager.
twrp downloads I dont know if you have to be s-off to install in bootloader or not. maybe someone could clarify that
ok so i tried flashing twrp 2.2.2.0 and got a message saying "main verison is older" then it said "update failed!" which is weird since i had version 2.1.8.0 to begin with i think.
anyone? any ideas? I feel like my only resort is to have it replaced

[Q] Unable to start HTC Evo 3D GSM Boot Loop

Hello everyone! I'm new to HTC and Android phones in general. I have a problem with my Rogers HTC Evo 3D, but I unlocked it.
The problem is that it won't turn on. All I see is the HTC logo with a white background and then a black screen. Then it repeats. This began happening after I updated through Wifi to 4.0.3. It powers down and will no longer start up again. I've researched on this topic but am unable to find a fix for this issue.
So on the HBOOT screen I see
UNLOCKED
SHOOTER_U PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.49.0008
eMMC-boot
Jul 15 2011, 14:39:25
HBOOT
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
FACTORY RESET
SIMLOCK
IMAGE CRC
So I can't go into recovery or factory reset at all. In the recovery I just get an android phone with a red exclamation mark. For the Factory Reset, the phone just switches off.
I've tried to change the S-ON to S-OFF but revolutionary has the 'waiting for device' issue which I saw many people were having.
I wasn't even able to get a backup when the update happened. -_-
Any help?
RUU
have access to the bootloader? Rogers operates on a CDMA network? ok so look for the correct network packets RUU, I have GSM and packet looks like this PG86IMG.zip, throw it on the card and then turn on the phone in bootloader "white background and android at the bottom of fellows" package should she run, search for your network, see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1447839
Or install recovery.img via fastboot if you boodloader is UNLOCKED, download CWM recovery or 4ext ,rename to recovery.img ,put in android fastboot and adb folder ,next go to folder in windows CMD ,"cd c:/android" and connect phone in fastboot mode
HBOOT
FASTBOOT <--------------------------
RECOVERY
FACTORY RESET
SIMLOCK
IMAGE CRC
and in WIN cmd flash recovery from folder , "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" and download system in zip and install in recovery ,
Rogers runs on GSM.
So basically I download a RUU file and rename it to PG86IMG.zip?
Does the RUU file stuff apart from the Carrier matter? There are like 5 or 6 rogers ones on the androidfiles.org website.
I tried the second method and tried using the wipe all data option. All I could see was a hat(?) with an arrow. No loading bar or anything. Is this how it's supposed to be? Does the phone have to be connected to my PC?
Sorry about the double post, but I didn't know that I could use the camera button as well. Now I'm in the process of wiping everything and doing a factory reset.
EDIT
Nope doesn't work. Still stuck in the boot loop. -_-
Thanks for the help!
Anyone able to help? Can't I just wipe everything off of my phone, including operating system, then reinstall it through my computer? Is there a backup available online?
I helped a person out earlier with the same exact issue. Find a stock rooted rom.Than put it on the sd card.Keep a copy on the desktop as well.
Boot into recovery. Cd c:\adb or android, you can name it spongebob as long as the right files are in it.So cd c:\adb than adb reboot recovery.Or pull the battery and hold volume down and power until your in the bootloader.
Next install the zip file with the stock rooted rom.Than once installed pull the battery and put it back in.go back to the bootloader, plug the phone back in.Than select fastboot and press power.
Next go back to the rom on the desktop open the rom look for the boot.img, put it in the adb folder thats in the c drive.Than in cmd type cd c:\adb
Than type
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Next go back to recovery wipe the cache, davilk cache and do the factory data/reset.
Than reboot normally the bootloop should end and it should boot up normally after a few minutes.

Thank you! I followed the instructions and got through everything but my phone is still stuck in a bootloop though.
Could it be the fact that I have S-ON? I tried to obtain S-OFF but Revolutionary keeps on giving me the waiting for device.
EDIT
Ok so now I was able to use Revolutionary to 'connect' with my phone. Now I end up with an error like this.
Found your device: /sbin/sh: getprop: not found (/sbin/sh: getprop: not-/sbin/sh: getprop: not, Android: /sbin/sh: getprop: not, ROM version: /sbin/sh: )
Your device: /sbin/sh: getprop: not, with HBOOT /sbin/sh: getprop: not is not supported at this time. Press <almost> any key to exit.
I do know my HTC Evo 3D is supported though. -_-
Honestly it would be easier if you
p.m. me.I can answer and ask questions faster. If needed i can remote into your pc.
