I was successful in rooting my Evo 3d but I had a rom with botched Wifi and 4g so I tried to flash it back to stock.
Now if I try to boot my phone I get stuck on the White HTC screen and it stays that way forever.

Did you flash back to a nandroid of stock, or how did you flash back to stock.
Also, which recovery are you using?
Do you have access to a computer you can hook your phone up to?
Recov is 1.0.3 twrp
I download the stock kernel from forum post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1197898
and Yes I have access
When I try to put PG86IMG into root directory of the phone and load it with bootloader... I get to the first white screen with the Blue bar on the right loading all the way... then it scrolls a few green lines of code and goes back to the main menu.

Have you tried downloading a stock ROM and flashing it yet?
If it were me, I would download another ROM on my computer, hook my phone up while it's in recovery and transfer the ROM over and flash.
I'm on Hboot 1.4, so I don't know much about flashing on 1.5. But, it's my understanding that you have to flash the kernel separate from the ROM in bootloader? I'm probably wrong though.

Do you have a link to the kernel you used with instructions? My phones a mess right now. Have Cyanogen 7 rom. with no wifi or 3G. Cant flash any other rom either, they just get stuck in boot up. Hoping this will at least get my wifi up. No market sucks!

Try fixing permissions and rebooting always works for me. If it doesnt works maybe its the rom u are using cheq on its tread for buggs and fixes

if you keep having problems you can always just flash one of the RUUs and start the unlock process over.
Busybox won't install if you don't have superuser, re-root via hasoon's tool then try installing busybox, the wifi issue on the other hand is gonna require you to most likely flash back a stock RUU, or just try flashing any rom, see if that solves it.
relock the bootloader.
Backup the microSD card
Put the stock rom on the root folder of the SD card.
reboot into bootloader and let it install the stock rom. (it will erase the SD card i think).
Then re-root/re-unlock bootloader....flash away

Yes, flashing a ruu restores everything to complete stock, try rooting again, then install busybox, after that, get 4EXT recovery, should be able to install any rom from then.

Hello. Right now, I am in the process of installing a custom ROM on an HTC Evo 4G LTE. I unlocked the boot loader, put TWRP on it, copied Paranoid Android on it with Gapps, and installed the zip. The phone is still in s-on mode and is stuck at the Paranoid Android screen. I have no idea what to do. I have to get it fixed ASAP. Please, help.
well for whatever reason paranoid android is not loading .. so ..go back into twrp a press reboot>system.. and you phone should reboot back into your previous rom...or you can press restore and choose the rom listed there.. and follow prompts from there.... that will get you back to square one.. you can figure out why the new rom wont load from there... make sense?... hopefully you DID make a backup of your old rom!!!

oh ya to get back into twrp .. hold down the power button and the vol down button at the same time .. that will take you to the boot loader screen .. scroll down with vol. button and choose "recovery" .. that will get you back into twrp.. easy cheesy

Well, I never made a backup of the original stock ROM. I tried everything I could, but then realized I was in S-On mode, and HBOOT is 1.19. Therefore, I think there is no way around it. I just did "locked" the boot loader and ran the RUU. That has gotten it back to stock. Worst part is, I convinced my friend to do this because I had rooted my One S, now, he's never going to want to root again. He didn't back anything up to his computer, just his SD card, which was wiped. Damn. Thanks for the reply.
no prob .. well the the upside is .. you were able to get it back .. and you didn't brick the thing
Like om4 said, all you needed to do was flash the boot image. That is one of the known limitations with your hboot version.

With s-on you may flash any Rom with a custom recovery. Just not (kernel, bootimg, radio) so what you can do is
HTC dev unlock,root stock rom
download flash image gui.apk
download the Rom and gapps
Open flash image gui
Flash the paranoid rom from FIGUI
Reboot into recovery and flash again
Now you should have a working boot image and rom.

Similar issues
Hey all, noob here.
This is as similar to the issue I am having now as I can find. So here's what up as far as brass tacks.
HTC EVO 4G LTE "Jewel"
TWRP loaded and functional
Rooted, (tampered) had SuperUser
Nothing in the internal SD card (explain momentarily)
No OS. Yeah, no.
S-ON due to 3.17.
Lost my Nandroid
Don't know much else cause if I take it out of recovery I have to suffer through a bootloop, but I will get more info once I get an idea of whats happening.
Down and Dirty:
So I have rooted several devices, My old Evo 4G's, a couple SIII and S4's and I thought I could do this in one morning. So I got it rooted, using WinDroids help, but skipped S-Off as 3.17 was too new for the software in the toolkit. Did some reading, read multiple times that S-ON was cool to just a ROM which is what I wanted, So I DL'd the ROM, loaded to internal memory, loaded up TWRP from recovery, ran it.
Failed. That's ok, I have the nandroid, I suffered a boot loop until I learned how to escape, Recovered, and I tried again with a fresh DL. Same. So I nandroided and was looking everything over. Then I butter fingered everything. I factory reset the phone, dumping my nandroid and my OS out the window. No I have a phone with no OS and my only access to it is through USB mount in TWRP. How can I either
A) get it back to stock ROM or
B) install the AOSP ROM I was going for. Any more information required I will be more than obliged to give.
I appreciate everything I get I promise!

This is what I think happened to me, by the way. How would I do a ROM without a Kernel? Just yank the kernel folder out? I doubt it. I used to know but I'll be honest, I have only dabbled recently, it's been a while since I kept up with the science precisely.

im trying to help a user restore a stock t mobile phone. weve tried the recovery linked inthe regular one and t mobile sections(both images are md5 04541031ee82ab95598b3cfbd019ad9c)
we need someone who is unlocked and rooted, yet not permantly flashed recovery to dump the stock one for us. you can simply boot recovery(fastboot boot recovery.img) and make a nandroid, then extract the recovery image,or within the booted OS you can :
adb shell
su
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p34 of=/sdcard/mmcblk0p34
then when its finished,
exit
exit
adb pull /sdcard/mmcblk0p34
the image will be in your adb/fastboot folder to upload.
reply,or shoot me a PM if you can be of assistance. again- you must have the STOCK reovery installed, and be using a t mobile usa device.

test it but my one is on its way back to tmo. However I was thinking about this earlier. My nandroid was after I unlocked so it had the specific apps removed from unlocking like flashlight and calculator etc. Maybe if those were replaced tampered would go away. Just a thought.

thanks very much for the info.
sorry about your sd card. i had no idea that would happen or i would have warned you. seems tho lots of things cause the internal sd to be wiped- ive noticed runnign RUUs has this affect also. if this is a fluke i hope they fix it. if its not its a feature i dont care for.
did you try relocking and doing a factory reset? (both of those will wipe your sd ) i think of putting the stock recovery back is to make tampered go away, those things may be needed.
if you dont want the hassle of relocking and factory reset right now,i competely understand. if anyone else tries it please report and thanks again for flashing for us. it did flash back an apparently working, functional stock recovery, correct?

pretty much anyones nandroid is going to be after unlock, not much way around that. if the missing apps and such are a factor, sounds like we may need to find a way to put them back. or a stinkin RUU
im fairly certain that in your case, tampered stayed becasue the phone did not recognize the stock recovery as its own. for all practical purposes,it could have been CW to the phone
but its quite possible that banner will stay regaurdless what we do,short of running a full ruu(wich will put back the missing apps and such)
Thanks for this!
Alright, I have a problem. I unlocked my bootloader, rooted, and had twrp installed. I've flashed back to a stock unrooted T-Mobile .7 ROM. I locked the bootloader just fine.
I cannot update with the latest t-mobile OTA. It boots me back to the bootloader with a Security Warning. I've tried to flash the recovery.img listed in the thread, but it just keeps giving me a signature verify fail.
All I want to do is get this thing back to OTA'ness.

What are you looking for?
the files on the first post in this thread. What I'm trying to do is this. I have two phones that are in boot loops. So looking for a recovery I can load through the scheme of having and pj75img.zip file with twrp or just the stock rom.
I'm sorry if I sounded like a total douche in the previous post. Just too many hits on the search engine that take me to nowhere. And I honestly don't understand what happens to the files. Are they removed for some legal reason? If they were moved why not update the link? Anyhow. Thanks for the concern. Its appreciated at this point.

the files on the first post in this thread.
They were Dropbox links the OP probably just deleted them.
Easiest way to fix your problem is to RUU
3.17.651.9 this was the last official OTA/ RUU sent out by HTC.
[ROM][FIRMWARE][RECOVERY][STOCK] Sense 5, Android 4.3 Final Update - 4.13.651.4 alot of good info.
4.13.651.4 Last official RUU for this device. Read the thread above there is alot of great info before using this RUU.
Official TWRP
I might have this all wrong but here is my problem. Both phones just endlessly boot the HTC screen go dark and repeat. I can't install the update with fastboot, adb etc because there isn't a system thats running right. I don't thing the PC to phone update will work either for the same reason. I've tried naming what I think was the last stock version by putting it in SDRAM (in the root) and of course naming it PL75IMG.zip If I boot into bootloader it loads the img fine. When I reset its failing the same way. The phone is Security on. I don't know if its rooted because it doesn't get far enough to test. Perhaps I'm not loading a signed file?

You have to be s-off to use PJ75IMG files.
RUU should run regardless whether there is a system or not.
RUU = Rom Update Utility
I would like a stock recovery. Trying to bring the phone back to stock, only issue I have is the RUU fails when I run it (i have tried every ruu I could find including viperuu). I finally got one that I thought it was working, but the ruu failed and it brought the me back to 2.09 with now system and recovery kept failing. I dont know what all happened but I was unable to flash anything for a few days. Finally I found a PJ755IMG that got me back on 2.10 and I was able to flash again. I also found a stock sprint rom.zip all I need now is to be back to 100% stock would be, to get it running a stock recovery.
I am getting a "404" message that the files are no longer available... Does anybody have a copy?

I've unlocked my bootloader, rooted and installed CWM custom recovery. Not surprisingly the Sense 6 update will download but it won't install. I tried to flash it manually with CWM but that won't work either. Again, no surprise.
Is there a workaround that I can use to install the Sense 6 update?

Yes, you need the stock recovery not custom recovery to install the ota plus stock rom installed.

Ok, I flashed stock recovery and the update looked like it was going to install but it failed about a third of the way through and gave me a red triangle. I rebooted and fortunately the phone is still working. I tried installing the update a second time with the same result. Any ideas?

You have to have a pure stock rom. You may have to nandroid a stock or RUU but you have to decide that, but it have to be stock not root or any system file edits. Sorry, missed the bootloader need to be locked.

My rom is stock (Telstra Australia) but I've installed a few Xposed mods. If I do a factory reset I'm assuming that will take the rom back to stock. If I then remove root and relock the bootloader will I then be ok to flash the Sense 6 update?
Mate, I'm having same issue, Telstra Australia.
Check out his thread. I think you need to save three files that get wiped when you unlock bootloader. The update looks for them. I'm still trying to get it to work.

Thanks. I tried the 3 files thing and it didn't work for me probably because the bootloader was still unlocked. I got sick of dicking around with it and decided to try to get S-off which I'd been having trouble achieving with Hboot 2.49. Finally got S-off and then flashed this.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53890999
Cheers.

Which method did you use to gain s-off? I couldn't get it to work.

Nothing was working for me and I'd almost given up but I was pointed to this.... http://firewater-soff.com/instructions/
I was already rooted but for some reason the first method wouldn't work for me. ADB is very new to me so I may have done something wrong even though I tried it a couple of times. I used the second method but didn't use temproot cause I figured as I was already rooted I didn't need it. When I used the commands in the second method S-off was achieved.
The rom I mentioned above looks really good btw.

Yeah it does look pretty slick. Wasn't sure about the large icons through. I watched a review on youtube. Looked a little strange...

Not sure what you are referring to there. I didn't see anything overly large. Was that on the stock launcher? I'm using Apex.
When the OTA update fails and you get the red triangle, have you tried holding the vol up button then pushing the power button?
This should take you to stock recovery and you can see why the update failed...
Might give you a point to work from.

No I didn't do that. I'm on a custom recovery and custom rom now though.
I'm all back to stock with the three files saved. Just waiting for the OTA update to download now.
I'll let you know if it works.
So what's the sense 6 camera app like? I have never really been happy with the camera on the max.

I haven't had a really good look at it but I don't like the fact that you have to tap a button before you choose video. On the old app both camera and video were one tap away. Now if you aren't in video already it's 2 taps.

I ended up getting this to work....
When you save the three files that are missing with a root file manager, you have to save them to \data\preload NOT system\data\preload
Worked a treat after I did this:good:
How did you get firewater to work?
I keep getting a kernel error. It says that my kernel has a anti firewater patch. Very frustrating i just want to be able to lock my bootloader so my finger print scanner works properly again.

That's interesting what you say about the 3 files. Now I know why it wouldn't work for me. Regarding Firewater I just followed the instructions in the link I posted earlier.
I've actually reverted to a Nandroid of my stock Sense 5.5 rom. I like it better than Sense 6.
