/efs folder backup help? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all
Can anyone help me. I'm sending my phone back to Vodafone for repair (dropped it into a sink full of water). When i flashed the stock Vodafone ROM to get it ready, the efs folder became corrupt so now I am showing no baseband or IMEI. I had done a backup using Hellcats companion tool, so no problems there. However, when I try to restore this, although the tool gives a message saying it has been restored successfully & I should reboot, nothing changes. After the restart I still have no IMEI or signal. Anyone got any ideas - I know it's going back for repair anyway, but I'm worried that they might use this as an excuse not to fix the phone?

any one knows how to fix this ?
(and i have no warranty )
Sounds like you've corrupted your EFS.
Do you know if you have a back up? Some custom kernels like Siyah and Roms backup your EFS on the fly when flashing, check the root of your memory.
Read this article to understand more about EFS and restoration

Don't back up your corrupted EFS, wont help and you MAY overwrite any prior back ups, although they usually be date/time stamped

Imei & baseband giving me trouble

For some reason I lost my imei on one of the recent flashes and I've tried to restore it, but something is still wrong. When I boot my phone and go straight into settings I get "unknown" both for baseband and imei, it does happen though, that both of them pop up a few minutes later for no obvious reason.
How do I fix this? How do I stabilize them again?

It must be that the efs folder being improperly read or slightly corrupted it contains information regarding your IMEI number and several other important information like wifi mac address, you must backup that particular folder using the latest cwm or other software before you perform any flashes perform a backup by an application like efs products, there are some application which can repair it too, search and find... It is one of the basic things you must do before flashing anything because efs folder can easily get corrupted and if you lose it your device will be just a expensive multimedia device with no phone or wifi capabilities.

lost efs folder... already

Hey guys, first post only because of the level of stress I been goino through trying to figure this out.
So I Had Rooted My phone succesfully At One Point I Wanted To Flash My Rom and It Failed using twrp. I had backed everything up using twrp and when it came time to trying to restore, it failed as well. Long story short I've been searching for a way to fix this as my phone is stuck in factory mode. Weird thing is that my imei number is still correlates correctly with the sticker on the phone but there are no files/ folders in the efs folder and I feel I've exhausted all of my options. I've tried factory wipes, nandroid restore via twrp which failed. Reinstalling factory Rom via kies and Odin to no avail with this issue.
Am I missing something? Where do I go from here? I know there's something that was backed up onto my sd card as the folder upwards of 1gb. when backed up in twrp I made sure to check everybox. Should i have performed a wipe prior to backup? Any help is much appreciatedas this phone is about a week old and its starting to get a bit frustrating...
i only have one real connectivity issue and it only happens on wi-fi. if i turn it on, it will connect than within 5-10 sec the rom will reset to boot screen and it will say "Factory Mode On! wi-fi is now turning off" other than this, i have full network access.
as of right now i'm stock worst comes to worst, may have to send the phone in, if warranty is void, i have a $175 deductible... trying to avoid this on a brand new phone.
bump anyone

[Q] Galaxy s3 IMEI null/null HELP!!!!!!!

Hi guys,
So, i have a big problem with my Galaxy s3. I dont know what happened, but at one time was home and your battery has ended. So I went to charge the battery and for my surprise, when I switch on the phone, it could not make calls.
I took it for Technical Service to solve the problem, but I got the information that they could not fix, because the telephone broke.
Dissatisfied, I came home and tried to fix it, and found that the IMEI listed as "null / null". I searched on various websites that could do to fix it. I installed the original 4.3 version of the S3, I ROOT your phone, tried to repair the various ways that the EFS folder could be corrupted, but i just get a generic IMEI.
I just want to know if I have any alternative to put again on phone my unique IMEI, and that can make calls again.
Please, help me with that.
EFS might be corrupted, if it was not rooted you should stay that way and get it for warranty repair, now you have to get your efs repaired, it is around 15$ in service centre, i had to do so, and in future try to make efs backup so if something happens again, you just restore and you're good to go.

[Q] Need help in IMEI restoring process GT-I9300

Hello, guys!
I'm facing a real hard issue with a brazilian Galaxy SIII GT-I9300. (international model)
Last night I did the CWM tutorial, and then I installed a custom ROM based on 4.4.4 KitKat.
Everything works great, but I lost the IMEI in this process.
I lost the entire night reading about ways to get my original IMEI restored, and I tried to use some tools from the XDA fórums.
Anyway, I had a serious problem with USB debugging function, and after a few tries, I got the phone being connected with Windows again.
Now, every time I try to use NV-items reader_writer, I can get the phone connected but it still can't read the phone.
the message "Failed....Phone does not Answer" shows up when I click the Read button.
I used the *#0808# in the dial app to get USB settings but when I choose the "RMNET + DM +MODEM" option, Windows says that could not install drivers for my "Unknown Device", and the RV-items reader_writer could not access the phone.
Please, I beg you help me!
I lost an entire night trying to solve this, but I can't get over this point.
I got Null IMEI values right now!
EDIT: If I force the DM mode via USB settings, Windows says that can't install drivers for the device. NV item reader_writer still saying that the Phone isn't responding for the Restoring Process
P.S: I already did the 226.txt with the phone original IMEI for use with NV item reader_writer
EDIT2: I just found is a Factory Mode in the last reboot!!! What it means?
Not even Kies can help me...
Even with Kies, I'm facing problems!
There's nothing in the world that makes my recent installed Kies connect to the Galaxy S3.
I was trying to make a restore with Kies!
But even this is not working...
What should I do? Please, help me guys!
Take it to a service center for repair. Nothing here can fix a corrupted efs.
I had a similar problem last week, and if you don't have a backup there is nothing you can do but take it to the repair service. However, you can try in some phone stores. Some of them has a device called box with which they can restore your IMEI and it's way cheaper than Samsung's service. It worked for me.
Good luck dude.
PD: I've heard that when you flash CM roms it backs up you efs automatically to your internal memory, but I've never found it, give it a try if you want.

No this is not true. CM does not touch the efs or modem so it has no need to.
To backuo efs you need to manually do it from recovery or with apps.
