How many of you were aware of Widgetsoid2.x's ability to have notification power widgets (if properly configured) with which you can toggle directly from the notification area (like under CM6.1/CM7) without having to toggle the widgets from a separate popup it launches first (like under Power Control Plus, Extended Controls, others)?
Screenshot taken using Widgetsoid2.x on Ginger-Tazz-Sense b3.
Not really a fan of the coloration of the notification icons. I like the widget controls however.

Me neither, for the notification area I had to color the icons black to be able to see them well (the background doesn't change no matter what in the notification area it seems) and set them to highlighted all the time (unless that was one of the other apps I tried). It definitely would be nice if the icons were more easily customizable - other apps were able to change the color of individual icons, and individual "active" indicators at the bottom.
The one-click notification control was definitely the winning factor for me.
yup, I liked the notification widget when I wasnt using CM7....it comes in handy
Other downfall is WiFi by and god just open the settings. Unless I'm mistaken.

Yeah, that would definitely be a bummer. I would probably use a combination of Widgetsoid2.x and another app in order to provide 1-click for WIFI in that situation.
I'm using Ginger-Tazz-Sense (beta 3 but beta 7 is out now) and this newer Sense interface already has some built-in toggles in the notification/status area, so I don't bother using Widgetsoid2.x for WIFI and some other things.
Check out my screenshot (fixed, ImageShack seems to have a problem with a period in the picture filename I had previously) in my first post ^ to see the second tab at the bottom of the status area, that's where the new Sense's built-in toggles are. Sure you have to make one more click to select that tab but it's still fast.
Yeah I am running beta 5 right now having the minor white screen but if i keep enough ram open i have no issue

If you have any trouble configuring it the way you think it should work shoot me a message.
In general, it appears you have to keep the option checkmarked at first to open notification widgets as a separate popup which you then click on the widget you want from there. After that first time, THEN you can uncheck the open as popup option and it appears to work just fine from the notification/status area after that.
ye, i have never heard of this before,
but it looks clean and clear in a glance
Having owned my EVO since November of last year, one of the mods/apps on my phone that has been with every ROM is JsChiSurf's power control notification bar. It is THE most useful and crucial apps I have on my phone. Although I know there are other 'widgets' on the market that "sort of" replicate it, JsChiSurf's mod is the only one that allows you to have access to any of the power controls you frequently need from any screen quickly and easily, whereas, with most power control widgets, you have to go back to the screen where the widgets are located.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=836721&highlight=notification+power
My Photon is arriving today and since it doesn't appear JsChiSurf made the jump to the Photon, it's the one mod that I'm going to truly miss. Because of that, I was wondering if any of you talented developers out there knows how to port this mod to the Photon? I'm willing to pay a bounty ($20, via Paypal) to anyone who can do it.

I agree. This has always been a great feature on past rooted phones. This type of mod is also included in CM7 and is better because you can change them on the fly without flashing and can have more than 6. Either way, would be nice to have.

Brother (or sister if you're female), thank you for pointing me in the direction of that app. I just installed it and it looks like the concept was modeled on JsChiSurf's notification bar (and considering the developer was from XDA, I wouldn't doubt it).
I just installed it on my Photon and it seems to work the same way. In fact, it's a bit more user friendly in that it allows you to select which toggles you want on the notification bar from a menu selection, rather than editing a text file. And although I haven't tested ALL the functions yet, so far, most are working on my Photon. I now have room again on my homescreen (temporarily had widgets installed) and can now access those functions from any screen.
Again, thank you very much! I guess I need to pull my head out of my *ss once in a while and take a look at what's new on the Market.
Try Widgetsoid from the market. It has the option to put the widgets in your pulldown. Works great

I tried this for a while. It's nice, but the Photon doesn't support the all-in-one notification, so each control takes a notification slot. It's nice, but I'm still holding out for Power Control Notification.

Question for you about Widgetsoid. I installed it on my notification bar but can't figure out how to change to icon and background colors. Right now, both are white and it makes it hard to see.
UPDATE: NM - figured it out.

Hi all,
I just recently got the atrix 4g. I used to have a samsung captivate prior to this. On the captivate there were toggles for wifi, gps, vibrate, etc on the pulldown notification screen so you could pull down the notification bar even while u were in an app and switch off or on the wifi for example. Atrix unfortunately does not offer that functionality . I'm using the ninja rom on the atrix with faux's kernel. I tried using Widgetsoid 2.x - it puts the toggles on the notification bar but they don't work. So those toggles are just taking up space on the notification bar. Is there any other mods or apps that we can use to have the toggles on the notification bar? Thank you in advance...
Try Widgetsoid 2.x in the market. This app allows you to make toggle widgets with the option to put them in the notification bar, or JUST the notification bar. It has many toggles, and is free. Make sure to look for the notification option thoroughly. Happy toggling!

He already said he tried that
CM7 comes with customizable notification toggles built in, though!
Search for "Notification Toggle". Works very well, though slightly differently from cm7's. It will put up a bar under the notification pane, but you'll tap it and a small window will pop up with all your options. Once selected, it will disappear and go back to whatever app you were using.
Thanks guys for all your responses... I'm playing around with widgetsoid still... Will report how it works out... It also does open a pop up window with all the options specified... I'm trying to figure out if it will work without opening a pop up window...

+1 for this. i thought it looked so cool on the x10 when i was playing with it. atrix being my first Android device and i couldn't find anything ab the toggles in notification pull down menu for the atrix. will try widgetsoid and see...
Guys, I tried widgetsoid and it opened the pop up... I also tried notification toggle which also opened the pop up... There seems to be no options available at this time where you can just toggle between stuff just from the notification bar (unless you're using cm7 like the other user mentioned above)... I'm not a developer myself so I'm hoping someone will come up with that option...
Now I also tried extended controls which also opens the pop up but out of the three, ex controls is most pleasing to your eyes... (that's just my opinion) try it out you may like it... It is a paid application... I don't know if I'm allowed to post the apks for paid Apps here or not... I'll go and check the forum rules and if it's allowed I'll post it here

I was getting 2 or more FCs when trying to create a Extended Controls widget, that I would wait out, till it would finally take... been that way since the Gingebread update... apparently a known issue with this app, according to Developer's website.
Changed to WidgetSoid tonight.. like it a lot better, snappier, no FCs... pretty much same icons & can create same layouts.
I used to have a Galaxy S on t-mobile and loved it. Recently picked up the razr and the one thing that is really annoying is that the notification bar "swipe down menu" from the top of the screen has no buttons to turn gps on/off, etc.
Is there any way to get these buttons on here?
No idea why in the hell they would omit that feature....

It's actually a TouchWiz (Samsung's Android skin) feature that Cyanogenmod incorporated. Bottom line: not stock Android, and not on Motorola's skin.

Now that i think of it i did have a custom rom flashed on there but i know it wasnt cyanogyn, it was one of the stock ones with voodoo on it so it would run faster.

Galaxy S has the options in the pulldown by default; most ROMs will incorporate it, though, since it's a nice feature. It's not something in stock Android, though.
Best thing for now is the power control widget till our phones can get bootloader unlocked and development for roms can begin. I too had that previous. I just use thd widget for now

Widgetsoid seems like a great app with a lot of potential and nice customization features, but on the Razr you can't toggle directly from the notification bar with it. Instead clicking on the toggle icon will popup another window to toggle the setting on or off. That and I haven't been able to change the colors of the toggles in the dropdown so that it's readable.
Notification toggle is the closest I've found. Each toggle takes up a line but you can actually turn the item on or off straight from the dropdown.

So I know that the devs are hard at work on getting us all kinds of CM, AOSP, and/or AOKP goodness, but I thought maybe if any of the devs are looking for some features to add it might be nice to have a thread they can refer to with everyones "wants" once the "needs" are met.
I'll start it off with a request to add support for BLN (back light notification) to an upcoming kernel. This, combined with the option to put the navigation bar on while dissabling the HW keys would be a great feature IMHO. Not to mention our stock notification LED pretty much sucks a big one.
ROM feature requests
Flashlight in notification drawer quick settings
More options in the shutdown menu (Boot to recovery, etc)
Get rid of the idiotic audio policy of volume reduction when plugging in headphones
Allow dialer rotation
The option to see the standard swipe lock screen before the secure lock.
True music controls on the lock screen
Better control of status bar icons (center clock, hide icons, change colors of icons, etc)
The ability to link the notification volume with the ringer volume
Volume rocker music controls
Universal Qslide
Kernel feature requests
BLN
Enable audio through USB for devices like the Infuse Car Dock (I think this is a kernel issue, if not let me know and I'll put it with the ROM stuff)
I didn't see a similar thread on here, so if there is, kindly point me to it and a mod can delete this one. And if BLN support already exists in Sk8's kernel tell me that too, ha ha.
I haven't looked into the ROMs because I'm liking stock, but a request I do have for when I do decide to flash is to have a flashlight if it hasn't been incorporated into the ROMs out now. There's a lot of times where I need to look for something and don't feel like turning on my light switch. Would be a nice thing to be implemented if it hasn't been done and can be done.

I don't know if this is what you have in mind, but I use TeslaLED: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.flashlight&feature.. It has a widget you can add to the homescreen for a quick on off, as well as some other features. I actually have it as one of my lock screen apps. I wish there was a way to have it turn on when opened from the lockscreen, but it's only one extra tap.
Edit: Gah! John beat me to one.
PS: TeslaLED is only 512K, whereas Tiny Flashlight is anything but at 1.5M

My wishlist:
1. Get rid of the idiotic audio policy of volume reduction when plugging in headphones
2. Allow dialer rotation
3. Enable audio through USB for devices like the Infuse Car Dock.
The two features I really want to see are:
- The option to see the standard swipe lock screen before the secure lock.
- true music controls on the lock screen instead of using the notification controls
sent from my LGOG
My biggest things are center clock, ability to hide things on status bar, and a flashlight toggle. The Base has done pretty well but I would love a flashlight toggle in my quick settings in my notification drawer. The swipe for flashlight thing was so touchy that I disable it.
Also, I love the theme chooser app and ability to have easy themes for my ROMs like in CM10 and AOKP
EDIT: also the ability to boot straight into download and recovery mode like in certain other ROMs using the power button.

The Base ROM does have a flashlight built in, you can activate it in the notification drawer options.
I was using Tesla until I found this.
Though I do wish it was in the Quick Settings too.
I would also love native reboot options.
And lastly, I would love the ability to link the notification volume with the ringer volume.
I know. The swipe thing only works half the time and half of that half, I end up with The Base force closes

I had actually forgot about this feature. I just tried it again and sometimes it takes three or four swipes to turn on. Might be user error though.
Swipe for torch works perfect for me.
Reboot options would be nice.
Volume Button Music controls would be nicer.
I actually came up with a wish while looking at the android dev section.
It doesn't actually have to do with the rom itself, but I'm hoping that as things become further developed to not only have a Changelog but to have a what's working list/what's not working list or just the latter.
I see a lot of threads gets bogged down with DOES THIS WORK? IS THIS INCLUDED?
Granted there's a group of people out there that don't read and just flash, but it could be helpful for another group of people that compare and contrast roms (like myself) before flashing.
Anyone else agree?

That makes sense to me. I wonder if xda could get a ROM form together so all the devs can include all the same info in their ROM's thread's OP. I don't know how practical that would be, but it would be nice to have some standardization.

But from what I've seen, most ROM posts actually follow a pretty basic design.
