Hi, fine!

Thanks Kai

The new one is just callex Xperia mini pro, the old one is Xperia x10 mini pro...
Still a bit confused though because in the release entry x10 mini pro is not mentioned. But in a previous annoucement, it was.
(grmbl can't posts links yet, just check the blog entries of cyanogenmod...)
It is released, just not mentioned in the blogpost. Go to http://download.cyanogenmod.com and select the device name mimmi (which is the x10 mini pro)
Though at the moment the site is veeeeerrryyy slow as everyone is downloading!
And you'll probably want to hold off until we get official instructions for installation, I think the ROM needs an updated version of clockworkmod, as well as a custon kernel.
Hi!, I really enjoyed cyanogen 7.0, thx for the info.
I know this question dosnt have to come here, but still can't post on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1066824&page=17#
What i have to do, to restore the O.S. to the orginal X10mini pro android 2.1 version? Can i restore with SEUS?

Yeah, I was holding on until more information was available. Wouldn't like to ruin my phone. It's a bit slow, but still not up for a replacement
Didn't know it was under mimmi either. Did find shakira (X8) for a friend because I remembered that name.

I just made a back-up of the original version when I installed another ROM... I suspect you can also restore it through SEUS...

how to flash the rom and the kernel image ?
same as other custom kernels atm ?
i've tried to creat a kernel.ftf (with flashtool --> advanced --> create bundle) but i'm unable to flash, cause flashtool aborts flashing the kernel:

Cyanogen forum is offline, and I didn't find any instruction anywhere... I installed the rom manager from the zip, but can't install cwm because x10 mini pro isn't on the list... and I just can't install with the old cwm because it say a status 7 error. Looks like we have to wait :/
ok ok..
Do anyone knows if they had already fixed the custom kernel building? At least FXP028 and FXP030 were not working because the delivered custom kernel was corrupt.
Okay yeah I think the stable release came to Xperia !!!
But i did not find the ROM for the mini: someone know more about this???
....words from here:
http://www.xperiax10.net/2011/10/10...-for-x8-xperia-x10-version-due-in-a-few-days/
[...]Steve Kondik has confirmed that the Xperia X10 version will be coming in a few days.
The main delay is that it is missing installation documentation. We imagine the X10 mini family will get the update at the same time.[...]
Ok so this is info i got from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18295336&postcount=48
The rom is not working on our mini pros because it needs an updated version of CWM. Check out the thread above and it should give you an idea on whats going on.
Also check ciribaski's post above mine and look at that link. It may explain a lil more aswell.
Cheers,
Evil.

So, due to the huge amount of threads with information for the X8 I found, I think getting the info you need is pretty confusing.
Not saying that this is THE guide for everything, but it should sum it all up nicely.
A Warning
First off, let me start by saying that if you don't think you need rooting, don't root.
It can be dangerous if done wrong, so be sure you know what you're doing.
With that out of the way, let's get going then.
Updates and Basebands
First, before you do anything else, you need to update your phone using PC Companion (download here: http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/softwaredownloads/detailed/pccompanion/xperiax8?cc=us&lc=en). PC Companion will guide you right through all the steps for updating.
The latest version is 2.1.1.A.0.6, and the latest baseband is M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015.
You can check your version by going to Settings -> About Phone.
If you are already running a custom ROM, you should update using PC Companion too, because some roms (like MiniCM) need the latest official version.
Advanced
If you need basebands for your X8, here's a helpful thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=976538
Flash them with FlashTool.
Rooting
This is very simple to do, really.
First, download SuperOneClick (thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682) and place it on your desktop.
Next, on your phone, go to Settings -> Applications and enable Unknown Sources. Next, go to Settings -> Applications -> Development and enable USB debugging.
You also need the proper USB drivers. To check if you have them, start SuperOneClick.exe and click Driver Check. If the driver check fails, update your phone with PC Companion.
Now, connect your USB cable from your X8 to your computer. When connected it is VERY IMPORTANT to select CHARGE PHONE. Really, I can't stress this enough.
Start SuperOneClick.exe and just click ROOT. Everything should go normally. You might get a message asking you if your OS is 2.0 or higher, just go ahead and click Yes.
You should now be rooted!
xRecovery
YOU MUST BE ROOTED TO DO THIS
Installing xRecovery is the first step in the world of custom ROMs. Installing xRecovery also means if you are stuck in a bootloop, you can just recover to a working backup.
The first step is to download xRecovery mini-beta 0.1 (any other version WILL NOT work on your X8) (download HERE: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8AJTKDTQ).
Next, download Root Explorer (download HERE: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LGC110EX).
Copy both the xRecovery folder and the Root Explorer .apk to your SD card.
Install any file manager from the Android Market (I recommend OI File Manager or Astro) and use it to browse to the Root Explorer .apk file and install it.
Run Root Explorer, browse to the xRecovery folder and copy the 3 files inside onto the /system/bin folder.
xRecovery is installed. To start xRecovery you press the Back button while the Sony Ericsson logo is showing during boot. Restart your phone and just keep pressing the Back button.
To move around in xRecovery you use the volume buttons, to select an item you press the Home button (the middle one), and to go back you press the Back button. Go ahead and make a backup of your current system (make sure you have at least 300MB of free space on your SD card.
You'll find the backup you just made in the xRecovery/backup folder. Name it something you can identify (don't use spaces). Copy that backup onto somewhere safe on your PC.
Backups are REALLY important, don't be a lazy bum.
So, you bricked your phone.
Don't panic, don't worry, everything is going to be alright. If you have xRecovery installed, just recover the latest backup you made. That simple. If, however, you DON'T have xRecovery installed, we can still recover your dear phone, don't worry
Using PC Companion: Connect your phone to your PC and turn it on. Look around the update phone section of PC Companion for an option called "Repair your phone". Just follow the steps and your phone will be in working order pretty soon
That's about it, I'll probably add a section for custom ROMs in the future, with links to ROMs I recommend.
So, if you have any questions, feel free to post below
Custom ROMs
Alright, when it comes to custom ROMs, it's mainly personal preference. I'll list some ROMs I've tried (and recommend)
For Beginners!
If you're flashing your first custom ROM, and you want a ROM that you can use daily, miniCM is probably your best option. I have tested and can vouch for both of these ROMs.
Floyo 2.2.1 miniCM 1.0.0RC2 by ponanovn (CyanogenMod 6): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=964223
Really simple ROM, basically everything you need to get started in the custom ROM world. The fact that it has CyanogenMod 6 is kind of a disadvantage comparing to for example, Racht's or Jerpelea's ROMs (they use CyanogenMod 7).
It features dualtouch which means pinch zoom is working. To activate it, put one finger on the screen then another finger. Then spread your fingers. The SD Card safe to remove bug is finally fixed with the latest revision!
Not working: Compass isn't working, some Bluetooth headsets are bugged.
Rating: [ ]
Floyo 2.2.1 miniCM by lizypen (CyanogenMod 6): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1036335
Very easy and very smooth, a perfect ROM for beginners! Battery life is better then average, because it isn't overclocked to an extreme level. Like Ponanovn's rom, it uses CM6.
Not working: Same as ponanovn's miniCM.
Rating: [ ]
More advanced ROMs
These use CyanogenMod 7, and the reason why I say these are more advanced ROMs are that they need a little more configuration to get up and running then these miniCM roms.
Racht's HackDroid GingerBread (CyanogenMod 7): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914513
Racht is an amazing cooker, and it really shines through in this ROM. This features GingerBread (Android 2.3.3). It's really nice, it just takes a little bit more configuration.
UPDATE 25/04: Racht updated his rom! No more SD-Card safe to remove crashes, which also means this is the most stable rom to date. Thanks Racht!
Not working: Camera.
Rating: [ ]
I'll add a review of Jerpelea's ROM when I have used it for a little longer
Time for FAQs!
Frequently Asked Questions
This section will (hopefully) answer all your questions related with the X8. If you still have any doubts, go ahead and post here, or send me a PM.
SuperOneClick is stuck at "Waiting for device"!
This is most likely caused by the lack of USB drivers for your X8. Go ahead and click Driver Check in SuperOneClick. If the window that pops up says "No issues found!" the problem is NOT your USB drivers. Otherwise, download PC Companion (which comes with the USB drivers for the X8) right here. Install PC Companion and give your PC a reboot.
I'm working on this section whenever I have time, which doesn't happen a lot, because of school.
This Guide brings you all the a list of all the ROM's floating in this forum.

I'm also waiting eagerly for the Xperia Mini Pro Version

Is this just an official or inofficial CM(7) port to Xperia devices, or is there more to it? (not that a CM7 port isn't special, I'm just curious since I can't find any info anywhere...)
Actually its beta. When its stable it will be official CM.

Usually when I insert my SIM card into the devices with CM, they can automatically detect APN info. However, Ray with CM7.1 cannot detect APN info, even though it has my carrier's APN info is in apns-conf.xml. In addition, Ray cannot save new APN info. Furthermore, I installed APN manager, but it cannot activate data network.
I appreciate your effort, and look forward to the fixed version!

With these elevated user privileges, you gain the ability to load custom software (ROM’s), install custom themes, increase performance, increase battery life, and the ability to install software that would otherwise cost extra money (ex: WiFi tethering). Rooting is essentially “hacking” your Android device. In the iPhone world, this would be the equivalent to “Jailbreaking” your phone.
For x10 mini pro there are lots of ways to root this device but I will just be displaying here the simplest way (I GUESS )
Here is what you need to do:
-fresh x10 mini pro
-USB cable
-Desktop/Laptop computer
-Super one click app
-Hands and mighty heart
Steps:
1. Download Superoneclick app FROM THIS THREAD (I recommend 1.9.5)
2. Install the app ( there are some cases that the app needs some specific drivers for it to recognize you device)
-Driver are here. CREDITS TO CLShortFuse for the excellent app.
3.Install the app to your computer. And then open it.
NOW IS THE NICE EXPERIENCE
4.On your mini pro make sure to put it in debugging mode
-To debug go to settings-->application-->development-->tick USB debugging
5. Connect your phone to the computer using the USB cable
-MAKE SURE NOT TO MOUNT THE SD CARD
6.After the connection look into the superoneclick app and click "ROOT"
7.The app will run and after it finishes it will ask for testing ROOT ACCESS.
Allow it and if it says successful then WALLLLA! you mini pro is now rooted Congrats!
NEXT-RECOVERY
In Android, recovery refers to the dedicated, bootable partition that has the recovery console installed. A combination of key presses (or instructions from a command line) will boot your phone to recovery, where you can find tools to help repair (recover) your installation as well as install official OS updates. Because Android is open and has the recovery source code available, building a customized version with more and different options is relatively easy as well.
Things to do:
-mini pro
-USB cable
-Computer desktop
-xrecovery manual installer
-Root explorer app
-GUTS
Steps:
1. Download xrecovery manual installer HERE!
2. Extract the downloaded file on your desktop
3. Connect mini pro to the computer (SD mounted)
4. Copy 3 files on the root of your sd card
5. Disconnect phone
6. Locate the files on your phone using ROOT explorer
-in case you have no root explorer download it HERE!
-using root explorer you can navigate to the system folder of your phone\
7. Copy 3 files to the /system/bin/ folder
8. make sure to hit the correct permission
-correct permission is permission 777
-To change permission just long press on the files and navigate to "permissions"
PERMISSION 777
* * *
* * *
* * *
(all checkboxes should be checked)
9. after doing steps 1 to 8 WALLLLA! you now have xrecovery.
10.To check if you installed xrecovery successfully turn off your mini pro. Note: Turn if on continuously press the back button and you should be booted to the recovery console. Congrats!
for XRECOVERY CREDITS TO zdzihu
NOTE:XRECOVERY by the way is the recovery intended for x10 family only.
If you guys DO WANT to install custom ROMs which needs CWM but does not want to unlock the bootloader just to have CWM. You can check this TUT for the nice CWM installation.

Some users actually asked why do they have to have a custom kernel. Custom kernel is just like a gate to a greener place. Basic features of have custom kernel are (e.g. Undervolting UV) If you have custom kernel you are actually freeing your device from its cage.
Here's the list to have:
-Computer
-USB cable
-X10 mini pro
-Kernel file (.ftf file)(this file is available to the threads of the kernels that you want.
-xperia flash tool
-Hands and HEART!
Steps:
1. Download the files that are needed ( e.g flashtool and .ftf file)
-You can get the flashtool from HERE! (the tool is capable of many things like flashing kernels and firmwares) CREDITS TO[/B] Bin4ry and Androxyde for the nice tools
-I highly recommend the latest version of the flashtool. Or if you wanted to be sure what flashtool you need to use just use the flashtool which was tested to be working on mini pro. GET IT HERE!
NOTE: You need to install first the flashtool 0.8.0.0 package before installing the latest version.
-With regards to the .ftf file (kernel) you can get it from the thread of some available kernels for mini pro ( in my case I use nAa's work)
2.Install the downloaded flashtool to your computer
3.After the installation the flashtool will automatically create a directory
-c:/flashtool/firmwares and c:/flashtool/drivers
4.You need to go to c:/flashtool/drivers and double click there ggsetup-2.2.0.10.exe (those are drivers for the flashtool)
5.After installing drivers you need to put the kernel (.ftf file) to c:/flashtool/firmwares. The reason for this is for the flashtool to automatically detect the file during the flashing.
6. Open the flashtool program and you should see this.

7.Click the lightning sign (flash) and then you should see this.
8.Choose the file that you put to the c:/flashtool/firmwares directory [it should have (U20i) on the first part]
9.Click OK
10.Now leave the program and start connecting the USB cable FIRST on your computer then next HOLD the back button of your mini pro (NOTE: HOLD IT TIGHTLY) and then connect the USB cable to your mini pro.
11.The flashtool will automatically detect the mini pro YES IT WILL because of the drivers you installed a while ago.
12.You need to make sure that you keep an eye of the flashtool
13.After the flashing, disconnect your phone and turn it on.
14.I KNOW WHAT YOU FEEL FROM THIS MOMENT. NERVOUS ! hahaha!
15.Mate that is fine, the booting process will take long because I think the system is remaking its cache.
16. After doing all the steps WALLLLA! you just installed a custom kernel! CONGRATS!
17.To check if you successfully installed the kernel go to settings-->about phone and see there your kernel version.

No, the steps to take to root, install recovery, flash and so on are the same for both devices, but the kernels and roms listed are ONLY for the x10MiniPRO.
For the X10 you can look in the x10-Mini development section.
Only 3 custom kernels to choose from (Fa Kernel, nAa-kernel for Gingerbread and nAa-kernel for ICS)
All Gingerbread-Roms for the X10Mini require a custom kernel (Either Fa-kernel or nAa-GB kernel)
The AOKP and MIUI4 ports for the X10Mini are ICS based but run on the nAa-GB Kernel
MiniCM9 which is ICS-based only runs on the nAa-ICS kernel.
So, apart from choosing the roms and kernels for the x10mini yourself, you can follow all other steps in this tutorial.
i tried to root. when i click root. the program freezes after some steps and then nothing! what shall i do?
.NET framework checked!

I think CWM is included in the kernels, not in the ROMS, you will still need Xrecovery or CWM to install a custom rom in the first place

on the earlier age of x10 MP cwm is present just by installing custom ROM even without custom kernel
before we were able to use CWM without any custom kernel.

Xperia MDPI
All in one guide for rooting/unrooting, unlocking/re-locking bootloader, FOTA unbrick, custom kernels, CWM, custom ROM's, tweaks, firmwares
This guide is originally thought for Xperia mini ST15i. But much of the content is general, and can be applied to other Xperia phones.
I've collected various stuff (tutorials, guides etc. on unlocking the bootloader, rooting, custom ROM, custom kernels, etc) in one single place for easy finding.
I tried writing this guide to the best of my knowledge. I've invested some effort in creating it, so I hope you find it useful
I've used guides and tools from other people&devs, and all the credit goes solely to them.
I'm also open to any suggestions and/ or corrections. If I miss a ROM/ kernel, let me know!

1. [Unlocking/re-locking bootloader]
Sony Ericsson made it possible to unlock the bootloader on some Xperia phones.
Unlike my former Xperia X8, wich I hard bricked trying to unlock it
You need to have an unlocked bootloader to install cyanogenMOD, the majority of custom ROM's, custom kernels.
Follow the official guide for best results:

2. [Rooting/Un-rooting, ADB drivers, flashing firmware with flashtool]
Requirements/prepping:
Check your firmware by going to settings> about phone> firmware.
Look at the last set of numbers.
>You can't root .62 firmware. If you have .62 firmware, you need to downgrade it.
>4.0.2.A.0.42 & 4.0.A.2.368 firmwares are rootable. (Flashing 4.0.2.A.0.62 firmware removes root).
>Download and flash .ftf file below to downgrade. How to flash firmwares is explained further down.
>You don't need unlocked bootloader for rooting.
>You need to have ADB installed (explained further down).
For rooting ICS (.431 firmware) and non-rootable .62 firmware, follow this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688980
It's also possible to root or download firmwares with XDA ROM Hub tool.
Flashing firmwares with flashtool:
http://androxyde.github.com/]
Install FlashTool.
Go to your flashtool folder, and place the .ftf file in the folder "firmwares".
Turn off your phone.
Now open flashtool.exe> click the thunder icon> select flashmode> adsp.sin should be selected> click ok. Wait till it asks you to connect the phone.
When it does, hold down the -DOWN- volume button while connecting, to enter flashmode (the LED should turn green).
The flashing will commence.
After that, disconnect and turn on your phone.

[Rooting]:
If you have a rootable firmware and installed adb drivers, you're all set.
Download this .zip file and extract it to some folder.

Connect your phone in USB debugging mode. To do that, go to settings> applications> development> turn on "USB debugging". Also turn on "unknown sources" in applications. You might also wanna tick "stay awake". So the screen stays on while USB connected.
Then run the runme.bat in the folder you extracted the zip.
It takes about a minute, two. If you get a positive message, then you have a rooted phone!
You can also try rooting with FlashTool.
Open FlashTool> advanced> root> force zergRush
[Un-rooting]: thanX to DooMLorD again
If you want to un-root your rooted phone, get this file:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=765523&d=1319922608
from this original Thread:
[HOW-TO] Root Phones w/ Android v2.2.x-2.3.x (zergRush Method) - Page 15 - xda-developers
It's the same as the rooting process. Connect phone in USB debugging mode, turn on unknown sources, and start the process. This time you just have to confirm SU request on the phone. So you might wanna go to settings> applications> check stay awake, so the phone won't go standby during the process.
Important: If you haven't rooted your phone with the method described here (easy rooting toolkit by DooMLorD), don't use this tool!
3. [Flashing ROMs]
First thing, copy ROM zip file onto your SDcard
If your bootloader is locked, and you're on stock kernel, make sure you have CWM recovery installed (explained further down)
Start the phone. When you see the logo getting brighter, keep pressing volume DOWN until recovery menu appears.
If you have unlocked bootloader, flash a custom kernel. That way you'll have CWM. Since all custom kernels come with CWM.
Start your phone. The LED will change color to signal you to press volume DOWN in order to enter recovery.
Touchscreen doesn't work in CWM. Move trough the menu with volume keys, select with home button, go back with back touch button.
Choose factory reset, wipe cache.
In some cases if the ROM won't boot you'll need to go advanced> select wipe dalvik.
After that choose install zip from sdcard and choose ROM zip.
NOTE: I strongly suggest that you do a nandroid backup before you flash a ROM or modify the system in any way.
That way you are able to restore the system if something should go wrong.
That's it
Make sure the your kernel is compatible with the ROM you're trying to flash.
For example cyanogenmod requires it's own kernel. Also GB kernels don't work with ICS/ JB and vice versa.
And make sure you're flashing a ROM that is actually intended for your device!
DO NOT make the mistake by installing a Xperia miniPRO ROM! They may SOUND similar, but they are not. If you do, hardware/touch controls may not work and bootloops may occur.
It's very tricky to repair, if possible at all.

CMD command: fastboot flash boot boot.img
Where boot.img is the name of the kernel file.
5. [FOTA (Firmware Over-the-Air) unbrick guide] thanX to [email protected]
The thing with the bootloader is that when you unlock it, you loose the ability to upgrade via Sony Ericsson PC companion/SEUS.
What happened to me is, I thought I could update firmware directly with my phone if not via PC... It downloaded the software, and restarted to install it. And that's where it froze, and went black.
I had my heart in my throat when I tried to turn it on, and it didn't respond. I thought omg there goes another phone... (I lost my X8 due to messing with it's bootloader)
So it wouldn't turn on, but when I connected it to the PC, the green light went on... what a relief LoL! It was still alive, but bricked.
So I found this FOTA unbrick guide, which did the job
If you wanna know more about FOTA, go to wikipedia> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FOTA_(technology)
If something like this should happen to you, download the *.ftf file from the link.
http://www.mediafire.com/?lc7inivdvwbjpov
Turn the phone off.
Unzip the file, place the ftf file in C:\Flashtool\firmwares (or wherever you installed flashtool), open flashtool click the flash button, and click ok (don't modify anything. ThanX for the kind words
I've been running this guide for some time already on androidforums. But I feel it hasn't gotten much attention as it would here.
And the whole purpose of it being to help ppl. Especially newcomers. Since I tried to write it as simple as possible.
I'm also planning to move my tweak collection guide here.
It's nothing new really, but I think it's nice to have all the good things in one place

Official method is the easiest. And you can easily re-lock it later.
But they store your IMEI number. And later at service they could look that up and deny warranty.
Even though I've seen and heard many reports that ppl just re-locked bl again and sony repaired under warranty. So I'm not sure...
To do testpoint method you need to unpeel the sticker underneath the battery. So sony could se that you tampered with the sticker.
And then it's bye bye warranty. But if you do it in a way it can't be noticed.... This way they don't have you IMEI stored, and you don't loose those infamous DRM keys. TBH I don't give a rats ass about DRM It's pretty much useless. You can also re-lock it the same way.
So you're gonna have to decide. Since both methods come with pros and cons. IMO official is better, but you decide

You have to install fastboot. In the guide it says to install android SDK which contains fastboot.
If you've installed android SDK, go to C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools (default install path).
Hold shift and right click in the folder, select open command window here. It'll open command prompt. Type the command....

Flash a prerooted kernel for your software version (for example rage kernel for ics or gb, depends on which rom you are currently on) and root should be there again.
To check if it's unlocked, boot phone up, type *#*#7378423#*#* -> service info -> configuration -> rooting status: bootloader unlocked: yes then you are done

Try flashing a kernel! If it flashes succesfully, bl is unlocked
Also custom kernels are pre-rooted. So you get root automagically by flashing a custom kernel.

hm. that's a very subjective matter. And everyone will tell you different.
You've got ICS and GB kernels. I find stock or Xkernel for GB the best.
For ICS I'd narrow it to MESA and PANIC kernels. Maybe eXtended kernel too because of it's batt life.
But you have to test it for yourself. You've just begun your journey
