Can you put more icons on the dock? - TouchPad General

Can we more icons on the bottom dock any way? Sure would be nice...

you can if you remove launch icon, using patch remove launch .....
you can find it in preware.

hmm i guess ive never seen that patch. so that removes the 'app drawer' type thing's icon, right? (in the lower right). Okay fair enough, so I can get one more out of it, and use the swipe bottom as shortcut... so theres no way to get more than that though huh?

I know you can replace the one's on the bottom.
don't know about adding more than the default amount.
might look into it

W/the "No Launcher Button" patch, You can have up to 8 icons in landscape view, and six in portrait view.

[Q] Rearranging in the Apps Dock

I think this may be a bug..or maybe i just don't know what i'm doing..which is highly possible. So your suppose to be able to rearrange the apps in the apps dock..whether your in "All apps", "Frequent", or "Downloaded". If you long press on any of these buttons the view changes to "Press and hold icons to rearrange". Well none of the icons show up for the apps to rearrange!
Kinda pisses me off...are you guys seeing this?
I've never known it to be able to do that with Sense.
Who said you could rearrange the apps in the drawer?

One would assume that you could if the feature is present...well kinda present. This is my first Sense 3.0 device so I don't know if its been available on any other devices.
i think that is supposed to mean you can rearrange the all apps, favorites, recently used icons.... useless...

I don't think you can rearrange the apps, just the 3 "categories" on the bottom. IE if you want the app drawer to open to your favorite apps by default, click and hold the 'star' icon and drag it to the L of the 'all apps' icon.
if you have the app drawer open, and press the menu key, you can sort it by Alpha, and 2 date sort option
Maybe you were thinking of the BB Storm

No it doesn't work like that. Has anybody tried this? I looks pretty obvious what "they" were trying to accomplish.
I've seen it, and it didn't show apps for me to rearrange either

What part doesn't work for you?
I just long held and moved my star/favorite icon all the way the the left of the bottom bar. Hit home, then hit the app drawer button and the star/fave icon was highlighted and there was only one page of (presumably) my most used apps.

Sorry, that does work. Guess those the "icons" that they are speaking of rearranging, although a bit misleading. But if the feature isn't there..then its not there.

disable full screen mode on ADW Launcher

I am on CM7 RC1.3 (previously was on RC1) and I have had the same problem with them on both. My main dock randomly will disappear and the only way I can get it back is to restart my phone. I think it is when i open an app that request full screen access then the main dock bar never comes back. But I can't fine anywhere to disable full screen.
It's an extra place for you to put shortcuts. Disable "Hidden Dockbar" in ADW Settings if you don't want it. Either that, or play around with it until you get used to it. Dragging up from the bottom opens it and dragging down (from the top of where the dock WOULD be) closes it. It takes some people a little bit to get used to it but it is a useful feature.

well i want the main dockbar to always be there. i dont want it disappearing when i go back to the home pages. there is a "close dockbar" option which says "auto-close dockbar after app-launch" when checked. i dont want to see the dockbar when an app is open, but i do want it to be there when i close the app. but i have that disabled anyways, so that shouldnt be an issue. i did a search and saw i am not the only person that has had this problem. but options they took to fix it, i dont have for various reasons. (i.e. CM6, tablet)
the swipe up and swipe down gestures are set to none also.

Yes. I understand. What I am describing is not "auto-close dockbar". It is the Hidden Dockbar as described.
Eh, I don't use it but I just installed it so I could be more descriptive of where the setting is.
Menu->Settings->ADW Settings->UI Settings
Under the "Hidden Dockbar" section uncheck "Dockbar".

Those are completely different than what I am referring to. If the "Hidden Dock" is enabled then swiping up from the bottom of the main dockbar will open it and swiping down from the top of the extended dockbar (imagine where the top of the main dock bar would be if it was there) will close it. I'm not sure how to explain this any better.
I'm sure you can set a hide/unhide the Hidden Dock as a icon shortcut, softkey shortcut, and/or swipe gesture as well if you want to keep it and that is more convenient.
Ok, I had checkmark on Dockbar. I took it off. I'll let you know how it works. Thanks.

How to remove camera shutter sound?

How I can remove Camera shutter sound? Couldn't find a way that works.
this is forbidden in some countries
If you slide your finger from left to right whilst camera is active you will see a cog symbol in the bottom right corner of the display. Click the cog for more settings.
Unthick HDR, beauty or sharp auto mode to see the settings
Thanks, found it.
Just go to settings and deactivete it
Was the camera settings removed in the latest OTA? I recall seeing it before updating to 2.1.3-x but now I can't seem to find it in the camera app. Can someone please confirm? I want to disable the shutter sound without changing the notification slider. Thanks

It is there. Just swipe while the camera is active from left to right. You see the cog on the right side. It will open the settings and let you disable the camera sound.

I don't see the cog icon when swiping left to right. I do remember seeing it in the past, but I don't see it anymore. Here's a screenshot after swiping left to right, and another after clicking the menu icon:

It seems that the settings icon only appears if you open the camera app from the application icon either through the app drawer or from the desktop. Previously I was opening it with a capacitive button shortcut (long pressing my recent apps button, which I set up in the system settings) or by using the camera shortcut on the lock screen. Odd but at least now I know I can still access the camera settings. Not sure if this is intentional or if it's a software bug. Hopefully this post helps others who can't seem to find the camera settings as well.

I guess my name is "no one" then ... I'm perfectly happy with the button layout the way it is
But I do get it if someone wants it reversed ... I for one would love the option to assign my navbar buttons with different actions, for example longpress Home for screenshot like on my other devices

It makes no sense. Most people are right-handed, so why put the button that gets used more often (Back) in a less accessible position than the one that hardly ever gets used (Recent apps)? Maybe take a hint from Samsung (the most popular Android phone maker) and keep the Back button on the right.

Personal preference. I'm totally with you on giving users the option, but I personally use the recents button more often and always hated the placement on Samsung phones.
I wish I could use FNG with A12 gestures, but I'm still stuck having the useless bottom bar...

"the one that hardly gets used" - huh? I use the Recents button all the time before turning off the screen. I don't believe in having apps linger there that I only use once a week or even less often, so my Recents get cleared all the time. Plus while I am righthanded I hold my phone with the left hand and navigate/tap with my right ... I've never been someone to use a phone with only 1 hand.
And like Velcorn said - personal preference. Users should have the option to set it up the way they like it best, not have Google (or other OEMs) dictate what they have to like.

I completely agree that it should be an option. But if they're not going to provide an option, putting it on the right makes more sense.
Also, you know clearing your recents gives you no performance improvement, right? Android could have completely killed an app weeks ago and its most recent snapshot could still show up there.

I don't care, I don't want the clutter in my recents. It's not so much about performance but about tidyness
I am right handed and use my P6 with my left hand. I use a wallet case on my devices with my index finger wedged behind the internal case. The thumb wins.
I always clear my recent, I don't care if you call it OCD or not.

I use FNG and have for a while now. Of course it takes root to get rid of the navbar.

Question recent app gesture?

I'm just getting started with my new N20 and I'm noticing that it doesn't seem to have an option for the "switch to recent app" gesture that I'm accustomed to on my last two phones.
Does anyone know of a way to enable it? The swipe up and then left or right in the drawer isn't really a good substitute for it.
I made a quick video demonstrating what I'm talking about in case it wasn't clear.

Swipe up from the bottom of screen and hold for a second. Once you see the recent apps, let go and swipe left to right to pick your app.
