does anyone have working drivers for Win7x64.
I'm trying to root my hboot 1.01 legend but simply can not find any working drivers anywhere.
I've tried PDAnet, Sync 2.0.33 etc. No joy.
Legend always appears as an unknown device.
alternatively, could anyone take me through rooting using linux. i have ubuntu x86 installed on a netbook, and i've heard drivers aren't an issue under linux.
I'm not very familiar with linux tbh.

Hmm wierd, all i needed was htc sync 2.0.33 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4YRG7L87
and sdk from this site

Are you certain you uninstalled previosly drives before temporing with new ones?
you running win7x64?

uploaded to megaupload please
megaupload them, i can't be the only person having driver issues with win7 x64 - i'll put them up somewhere a little more permanent myself.
when you say adjusted, what do you mean?
(if they work i'll love you long time!!!)
Here you go..

no joy.
i have absolutely no idea why this isn't working.
what's particularly frustrating is that this has worked previously. once upon a time my legend was rooted, and i rooted it on this very pc.
i had to flash stock firmware for a warranty repair...
ffs.
i'm struggling to get my legend detected by any OS (XP, 7 x64, ubuntu x86).
doesn't seam to matter what i use (htc sync 2.0.33, PDAnet, drivers from websites - i've tried them all) i just can't get them to install and recognise my legend.
the thing i find a little worrying is that linux wont even pick up my legend in disk drive mode...?
I've read many other related posts lately as I've just today completed the 2.2 rollback, root and fresh update to a modified rom.
I think you'll find the instructions and files you're looking for in thread 737728, named "[Tutorial] Adb Driver Android 1.0 Install".
It tells you to look for HTC Desire related sections, but it still worked for me with the Legend. Using win7-64, I had to first disable my network connection prior to being able to install these drivers, as windows kept telling me that the best driver was already installed, and would automatically reinstall the one I didn't want as soon as it was removed/deleted. Once you delete the old driver with your network disconnected, it will allow you to install the Adb driver.
There may be a simpler way to get the drivers to install, but it worked for me this way.
Good luck
on xp 32bit, attached file works for me. right click then install. i think the following lines are missing on most drivers...
Code:
;HTC Legend
%SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0C97
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0C97&MI_01
figured out what the problem was - the mini usb ports connector was screwed, as you can see here.
bought a replacement for £10 from an amazon reseller, and all's working again.

For some reason, not sure what I have done, my PC won't detect the usb-drive correctly. It does find the drive (Win XP 32bit) and assigns a drive letter, but the drive is not accessible. Also, the phone does not detect that it is in a PC, e.g. the "ask me" menu does not pop up. I have tried disabling debugging, installing new drivers, removing drivers and what not. Works fine on PCs which have never had HTC-drivers installed... Any ideas?
You could try a earlier version of HTC sync

Just did.
I then managed to wipe the PC of the drivers, I think. At least the system was unable to install the drivers, when it detected the hardware, and asked for drivers.
Then the phone should still work as a USB-drive, at least, without any drivers. And it does on other PCs. But not this one. Odd!
try this, not sure if it will help, in device manager look for 0000.001a.0007.003.000.000.000.000.000 or similar in the usb mass storage devices you have

upgrade the driver, select you will pick from a list, uncheck compatible hardware on the manufacture window scroll up to standard usb host controllers, then in the right hand windows select usb composite device! once its done detach phone and reboot pc and try again!
I wiped the phone. I was certain it was not the phone, since other PCs would work fine, but just in case... and guess what, it works. I guess it was all that testing with getting JIT to work under SuperHero 1.0.1 that ****ed it up. Just re-applying JIT again to see if it causes the same problem...
Edit: And now JIT causes a wiped phone to crash. Better stay away from that for a while

I have no rebooting issues at all with it. In fact no problems - except this!
Well... I have a OG Droid 2.2.3. Whenever I connect it to my windows 7, it shows up as "device has malfunctioned, device.. unknown" everytime. I have tried reinstalling drivers, etc but the Computer never recognizes it as a Motorola device.
Also, my phone doesn't charge when the phone is on and connected to the pc, but when the phone is connected to the PC and I turn the phone off, it charges (but then it wont turn on unless I disconnect it).
Also, whenever it is connected, it never shows the USB icon/ or anything in the notification bar. So, I havent been able to root it yet. I have tried on 3 other computers (XP, 7, 7) and 3 other USB cables. Same results.
I want to root my Droid 2.2.3, I have tried z4root app, but it doesn't support 2.2+
How can I root my Droid without a PC, can I use terminal, etc and do it on the phone itself?
edit: just re-read what you typed sorry mate cant help
Tapped from a modded GS2
Tried it. This is all I get in device manager: I don't get any usb mass storage devices, or anything. I get 1 Unknown device, which if I try to manually update with Motorola drivers, Windows tells me they are incompatible and it doesnt install

your best bet is superoneclick 2.3.3. (just look it up or go to shortfuse.org) i got it to work beautifully on my moms phone. plus it works on 2.3.3 (no duh! lol). terminal emulator may work.... but what is the model under your "about phone." im not familiar with the "og droid" and im getting conflicting results searching for it... is it the droid one by motorola?
and uninstall the "unknown device" drivers, reboot your machine, and run the driver installers as administrator
update: what sucks is, if you were already rooted, adbwireless and ftpdroid could solve all of your problems, assuming you have wifi at home.............
i have an idea, post a link to the motorola drivers you have, and ill see if they install over here. if so, its a computer problem for sure. if not, then you probably need to get them somewhere else. (dont know why the source would have sucky drivers when other places wouldnt, but there's no harm in trying.
Tried your suggestion. Nothing. Still getting device is unrecog/has malfunctioned.
Its the Motorola Droid 1 on 2.2.3
Come on. There HAS to be a way to root it or install a custom rom without a computer! Ahh
Sorry. The only two ways I know how to root 2.3.3 and up use comp. Best Bet is fixing your connection with computer right now. Sorry. Try asking customer service? Maybe get the phone replaced. Then you have Shiney NEW phone to root!
ROOTED Xperia Play 4G 2.3.3
Anyone else have any other suggestions?
So it wont un-install. I did the install long ago (back when you could install but nothing google worked) via flash drive stick. I have grub rEFind on my main laptop with hard drive split in half (half windows, half ubunto) I have updated thru remix OTA couple times. I have another laptop that i did same install on .203 and it works fine. Main laptop wont let me connect to google services even though .203 let me on backup laptop and then updated and still works.
I've opened explorrer and found the "unistall.exe" but when i run it, it tells me i dont have remix installed.
I believe i need to uninstall it before i can run the rooted version in hopes google works on it as well.
Not looking for "open command window, type a bunch of crap, reboot device, open command window to see if it uninstalled"
Can i install fresh version over old and have google working?
Is there a way to remove remix from boot manager? Every time I reboot my hp pavilion it asks what OS to boot. I removed remix but can't figure this out any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you using UEFI try deleting it by using EasyUEFI EasyUEFI.com

Both video and picks taken with galaxy tab 4 7" tablet. Main laptop holding all software and hacks is an HP Pilvion and the standby not running linux without Grub rEFInd is an old dell insperion Both running windows 10, main is running insider preview (daily updates) and both have efi bootloaders. Main had old version installed that didn't have google servers working in prior build. It updated. Dell never had older builds installed and went with current build. I cant get main to uninstall to redo, and dell works like a charm on first install.

oh great, now i just dont understand what to do anymore, im really new to linux os
You need to change "initrdefi" to "initrd" and "linuxefi" to "linux" in the grub customizer.
For future, do NOT post the same thing in multiple threads please.
Also there is a Linux Installer (Ubuntu compatible) available - in beta but I heard it works OK with Ubuntu. Check here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3496934

all right im sorry, i changed that, it can boot, so there is bunch of text going on, and then the
A N D R O I D [email protected] x64 text appeared
and after that, black screen, nothing happen, no cursor, what happen now?
i downloaded and use the newest version from the remix website.
ill download and try the ubuntu version, thanks for the link
umm btw, when i download the ubuntu version, what to do with .deb extension ? i mean usually is .iso. sorry, im not familiar with linux
@Ravagioli
I don't know your entire grub configuration so I can't say if black screen means problems with graphics or problem with system image or something else.
Installing with the .deb package is unlikely to help, but at least we'll know you used the installation method we know, so we might know what to expect.
I'm not experienced in Ubuntu either but installing should be as simple as opening the .deb file. Can't help with that sorry.
If installing from Ubuntu won't help, then boot Remix OS in Verbose Mode and then share your problem with logfiles here:
https://github.com/JideTechnology/Remix-OS-For-PC/wiki
The link also gives info on how to boot in Verbose Mode and post Issues on Github.
With the log files we will know more about your device and we'll have the error data indicating where the problem is.
And lastly:
Currently most effective and failproof installation method is using .exe installer made for Windows. We are working on both Linux installer and a bootable installer.

Hi guys absolutely pulling my hair out with this phone. I just want to USB tether my internet and I'm getting "CDC NCM No driver found" in Windows, and when I check Device Manager it just says Other -> CDC NCM with an exclamation mark. Searching Google has been incredibly useless on this issue. I've never had issues with any other phone like this before. Anyone know how to solve this? Thanks.
What version of windows? Did you try more than one computer or the PDF instructions listed here? https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/an...m-devices-arenamp39t-assigned-usbncm-dri.html

I haven't tried it on my Windows 10 Home PC but the issue is getting it on Windows 7. I followed these instructions but I don't see USBNcm Host Device in the update drivers list for Windows 7 and I don't know how to get it to appear.
have you tried the google usb driver?
Get the Google USB Driver | Android Studio | Android Developers
The Google USB Driver is required to perform adb debugging on Windows with Google devices.

Install the drivers that nutzfreelance linked. Have to disable driver signature verification on Windows for it to work. Mine were slightly out of date and stopped working on one of the phone updates. You also have to select USB tethering in two places:
Settings -> Network -> Hotspot
Dropdown menu: change "charging via USB" to USB tethering
It's probably been this way since Android 11 maybe? Pretty sure on 10 you didn't have to do step 2. Could be wrong though, haven't needed to tether for a couple of years.
