Hi all,
I updated Xperia X10 to official Gingerbread. I searched for wi-fi proxy and found there is proxy support in 2.3.3 (Menu > Settings > Wireless controls > Wi-Fi settings > Menu > Advanced > set proxy and set port). But in my device, wifi settings > Menu > advanced, there is no proxy option. There is IP settings (use static IP option) but proxy is not available.
Can anyone help me to get that option. There are many post on internet saying in 2.3 they have this option.
Thanks in advance.
Come on friends, 95 views but no reply??
Does any1 having official gingerbread have such wi-fi proxy option?
Does any1 having gingerbread on any other phone have wi-fi proxy option? (many internet searches are showing such option in official gingerbread!!)
If any1 have any idea why such option not there in my device? Is it specifically disabled for some regions/countries? I am in India.
Does any1 knows any other wi-fi replacement application which can set proxy? I need to use proxy for android market and other application. I am already proxy in Opera browser but that doesn't enable us to set proxy for system.
Hi, my GS2 with 2.3.3 does have the wifi-proxy option. I have a friend who's using xperia x10, recently upgraded to 2.3.3 but could not find the proxy option as well. Anyone who have information on this?
SE 2.3.3 does not have the support.
CM7.1 on 2.3.3 does, but its a pain in the arse to find the setting.
Here is the easy solution.
Goto the market and download
autoproxy.apk
I have it working fine
I still find it amazing that proxy settings are overlooked by google and se...they must be mising out on a lot of corporate deals because their devices cant be used in many workplaces/institutions because of proxys...
Anyway, I hope this helps

Hi there guys,
i just correctly rooted my device and i'm proud with it.

i can access internet (browsing, youtube, xdaforums) only with Wifi access
if i'm out of Wifi and trying via 3G all i see is endless loading and network error.
i tried automatically settings my mobile networks : Settings > Mobile networks > Auto Internet settings
i even tried manual add new APN and deleted the automatically ones
nothing happens - i cannot access anything via 3G - no market, no youtube, no email account no nothing.

Are you with Rogers? If so, go to the "GoRogers" APN and change the APN URL to "internet.com".
That'll fix it.
thx for fast reply but i found the issue related here:

Hello guys,
Another good and useful application that I found and was like a Christmas present for me. I always needed proxy configuration to browse the internet and I was not able to do it.
A while ago I started using SPQRom which has proxy configuration only for the default Android browser.
Today I found a new application that offers proxy functionality for Android devices.
If anyone is interested just download the application below. Install it. Give to it root access. Connect to your WiFi network. Start the application. Enter proxy configuration. AND.... HAPPY BROWSING.
Transparent Proxy Application
I am currently using the beta version and is working excellent.
Working with : SPQRom 0.7
Thanks!
Many thanks using it for school network
Works with cyanogenmod
Doesnt work at some places because the DNS does not resolve IPs outside the network. Is there a method to route the DNS resolution through proxy?
It will be nice if it is implemented.
I am having the same DNS problem. Many people claimed it working. I can only make the browser work to access IP addresses. No idea how other apps like market can work.
thx man like like like
Now I use proxydroid instead of this. https://market.android.com/details?id=org.proxydroid&hl=en Works better for me.
Just updated my A101IT to the new firmware 2.1.8 that should have proxy support enabled in it.
I've been looking for a way to set a proxy server in the wifi settings since my company require us to use proxy to connect to the internet.
I was able to enter the wifi proxy settings and save it. But the problem is i can't seem to enable it.
When ever i checked the "Enable Proxy" in the proxy settings then save it, the proxy setting module close. And when i open the setting again the "Enable Proxy" is unchecked again.
This means i am still not able to browse the web bcoz the proxy settings i inputted is not yet enabled.
Have anyone tried this?
If Anyone can help please post here... thank you so much!!!
Same here on A70. Very disappointing. I installed ASProxy hoping that it was just the settings dialog that was broken and iptable support had been added. It reports...
Status: Waiting...
Reason: No Netfilter/iptables
Anyone know how to use the wifi proxy settings in the new firmware.

Is this helpfull?
EDIT 2: Found a way to get to the dialogue box. Connect to the Hotspot as normal, then connect to a different Wireless connection if one is available in the same area short tap the offending HotSpot connection as if you were going to reconnect to it and the dialogue box will appear !! This will only work if the offending HotSpot is in range. And NOW I have perfect Wireless when roaming YESSS!!

Settings-wifi-menu-advanced settings-proxy???
Sent via MIUI 2.1.13
i was told that before (even received a screenshot), but there is no such option on my phone. in the "advanced settings" page there is nothing about proxy.
seems i am too new here to post the screenshot of my phone, i will just list the options in the "advanced settings" page:
advanced
- wi-fi sleep policy
- mac address
- ip address
ip setings
- use static ip
- ip address
- gateway
- netmask
- dns 1
- dns 2
the screenshot i received (non-SE phone) has proxy options before "ip settings". i dont have them.
I have Neo v too. Rooted one n i use proxydroid, its really working fine for me. I m on stock firmware.

i have same problem ..
plz help ....
after a few days break, i tried proxydroid one more time last night and it worked straight away.
with this ocasion i discovered some thing dont work very well unless you do stuff in a specific order: before proxydroid i had to use a vpn connection to get me past the proxy. if i turned off the wifi with vpn connected, next time i turned on wifi and connected to vpn, it would not work. i discovered i have to manually turn off the vpn and only after that disconnect the wifi.
sorry i didnt understand . Can u plz elaborate more.
to use university internet i jst have to put proxy server address and no authentication needed.
plz explain...
so far ok?
