Since this app is included in the Samsumg rom, we would have to flash it. Anyone willing to be the guinea pig and see if it works (and is worth it) ?
Guinea pig here. Does nothing but a FC loop.
- oh well, thanks for trying at least !
Flashing doesn't work on I9000 either, but the .apk works. You just have to uninstall the existing gallery3d with root explorer, and then reboot, go to settings-manage applications and unintall the leftovers of the gallery. Then install the .apk with astro or similar.
I only did he update. I am going to try the longer way in a bit to test.

So, I was able to get the updated Gallery3dm.apk loaded onto my Vibrant. Using AndroidMate, I copied the original \system\app\gallery3d.apk to my SDcard (as a backup), then deleted the \system\app\gallery3d.apk from my system + the corresponding ODEX file. Reboot. Next, I copied the Gallery3dm.apk (updated version) from my SDcard to \system\app, selected it, and chose Install. Worked fine.
My thoughts? It does have a higher quality when you zoom in, but it seems to have some drawbacks too -- like VERY low-res versions of the files upon first load (and after, it seems), some display strangness (graphic tearing), and the occasional lag. Most of all, the difference is not THAT noticeable. You can check out the *before* and *after* attachments I've uploaded.
I'll be going back to the original Gallery3D.apk for now, but I sincerely hope that Samsung (or whoever) can figure out how to allow for crisp zooming in.
Thanks,
Yip
Were you able to switch back to the old gallery?
(On i9000):
I've tried putting my backup copy of Gallery3D.apk (and odex) into /system/app but it doesn't do anything (doesn't appear in apps menu etc).
If I click on the Gallery3D.apk to try install it, it asks if I want to replace existing system application (yes) but ends up with "Application not installed".
It seems I'll have to stick to the Gallery3Dm till my next FW flash.
Edit:
Oh nvm, seems a reboot did the trick

Wow! The reboot did it for you, eh? Trust me... I rebooted *several* times, but no luck. Finally had to restore from backup. Oh, well...
Since I saw some AMAZING themes but I was unable to install'em, I wanna ask if somebony is able to link some themes which are compactable with Khalpower's V4 GalaxtXT ROM, couse I tryed like 20-25 themes and from all only DarkFroyo V2 and 1 more works.
Thanks alot!
The Honeycomb-theme works fine on V4 (except that you need to replace the keyboard with some keyboard from the Market, but that's the only bug there is).

Kahl has this one posted somewhere in one of his threads. It replaces the stock LatinIME.apk & works fine. Just copy the zip to openrecovery/updates boot into Open Recovery, appy the update, wipe the dalvik-cache & cache partitions & reboot.

When i try to apply the galaxyxtv4 theme update, it does not work! i still have the red theme and i dont know what to do anymore. Isnt that how one apply a theme? am i missing something?
I believe others had issues with that update too. If you're running the PersonaRedv4 I think you can just restore the system partition from KP full GalaxyXTv4 (nandroid restore) & wipe the dalvik-cache & cache partition & reboot.
I was wondering... if I install propper theme which works woth this rom but replace apps from other theme (and apps are more - 6 in compactable theme and about 20 in that one that I will replace with), so will it work as it works with bootanimation, couse if I keep the working theme but put difetent bootanimation it still works.
I'd give a guarded yes. If the filenames of the apps you want to replace match EXACTLY (e.g. maps.apk is not the same as Maps.apk) then they will be overwritten. If they don't match your best bet is probably to remove the apps you want to replace before installing the new ones. You will be limited as to the size of the system partition so adding files as system apps could be problematic but replacing one modded app with another should generally be OK. Another thing to note is (I think) not all apps can be installed as system apps. Note that it is always a good idea to do a nandroid backup before you try making the changes so (when) things go wrong (and they will ) you can get back to a functioning device as painlessly as possible.
Hi guys.
I'm looking for a working Gingerbread Theme for the V4XT rom.
Could you please help me?
Thanx in advance.
I was wondering if this one coud work? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9784619&postcount=13
I was previously used it on my original 2.1 Rom and it was absolutely perfect.
I have today tried to install many themes with the new khalpower v4.
Result was the follwing: I was able to get a decent outcome. Keyboard bug could be fixed but after a couple of theme flashes things started to get weired. First my gmail app stopped working.
After that I only got jibberish as fonts so that I was unable to change languages or anything else for that matter.
I'd very much appreciate ports for the new v4. Right now I'm using the fix described above. Thanks so much! Worked like a charm
So.
Being a new android user, I messed around with my phone without a full understanding of what would happen if i uninstalled a core application. I assumed incorrectly that Titanium Backup would allow me to reinstall applications, and then uninstalled the stock clock application thinking that it was one of the many clock widgets.
Could someone upload their stock Clock application apk here, or advise me as to how I can restore the stock clock (preferably without having to flash the original ROM)?

Here. I backup all of the apk that I want to remove. Hope this is what you want.
Is this the stock clock application, like the one used for alarms and such?
EDIT: I attempted to install ClockPackage.apk anyway by using Root explorer, and then moving the apk to /system/app and installing it from there, but it says 'Application not installed.' Am I doing something wrong?

This is for clock, alarm, stopwatch etc. Put the apk on the root of your sd card and install from there. Don have to move it to system/app.

LOL YOU DID THE SAME THING AS ME. (except no one bothered to reply to my cries for help and I had to figure out everything myself)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1070083
1)keep your clockpackage.apk in system/apps
2)download this .odex file
3)put the file in system/apps, remember to mount r/w in rootexplorer to enable pasting it in there, then mount r/o when finished
4)turn phone off.
5)turn phone on.
Mmmm, same here but I lost the weather widget due to samsung app update. Any one!

Did you add the odex file as explained above?
Yes i followed the guide as described. I have the odex and apk in system/apps folder. Funny, another clock widget im using is showing my next alarm.. but no alarmclock..
Followed the guide above, apk and odex showing in app system/app but still not available anywhere on the phone.
Anyone recommend a third party clockpackage from the market?
Used sgstools to kill my clock so used it to reinstall it to.
added a extra script,
echo "this will reverse the klok hack"
busybox cp -f /sdcard/sgstools/ClockPackage.apk /system/app/
(you might have to remove it fist if you have been messing around to get it working again)
I did the what the above guide said and could not find the app in the application menu. Help!
will reloading the stock firmware fix this issue?

I did the same thing, but when i restart my phone, the clock in not in the app drawer, when i go to TB, it is there, but with a line through it and it won't restore, all attempts to install the apk is failing too... what can i do?
The link for the odex file is down. Also, I'm trying to get this app working on CM7. Is that doable? I love CM, but a couple of the samsung apps are miles beyond what comes with Cyanogenmod - namely the clock, and the camera. I understand I can't swap the camera app, having looked into it, and I'm ok with that. The clock, however... I gotta have my samsung clock back!
Parse Error
I managed to get the ClockPackage.apk and the ClockPackage.odex from another device (running on 2.3.5 instead of 2.3.6) and now I get the following error while trying to install the apk:
"Parse Error: There is a problem parsing the package"
Does anybody know what to do?
Contacts app backup please help
hi, I recently updated my sgs2 i9100p (NFS) to ics via kies. Its orange but I unlocked now 4.0.3 with baseband ver i9100PBVLP6. an orange bloatware called 'contact backup' irritated me so I decided to uninstall it with Titanium backup. but in a hurry I uninstalled stock contact app. now there is no contact and in every 5-10 second phone freezes and error msg comes-' unfortunately, the process android.process.acore has stopped'. Please help.
AnalogClock.apk + ClockPackage.apk seem to work together.
I used SystemApp Remover to disable ClockPackage.apk, (thought it was a bunch of unnecessary Clock widgets), but stock Clocks package stopped working. I tried enabling it, copying ClockPackage.apk, and still could not. SuperSU logs indicated that all operations succeded normally, but it simply would not work.
I thought, maybe it messed up with program data, permissions, etc., so I removed/deleted both, restarted, then simply copied .apk file for both back. Only then it worked.

There are applications that access data, and there are applications that provide that data. For example, for contacts, you could have many applications that use it (Email, Messenger, Call Logs, etc), and one application that provides it. In case if you accidentally delete data provider (in your case contacts), and if that data provider is essential to running your phone, you will ruin your phone. You might be able to restore it, but I would recommend using Odin to flash correct official firmware. Search in forum "i9100 Android Development".

U are right. I think I uninstalled contact provider, the main contact app. I tried to find solution for all day but coudn't. Tried to flash original stock rom which I have downloaded (i9001PBVLP6) but odin didn't detect my phone in downloading mode. I had to make my phone work anyhow so I flashed Wanamlite 11 with cwm which is ok but not fully functioned on my nfc version sgs2 (now I know the importance of back-up). Now I want my original stock rom back. tried with cwm but didnt work, Odin doesnt detect my phone. any help regarding flashing this stock rom, please?
Hi all
I rooted my Galaxy 5.0 player (YP-G70 US version running 2.3.5) using onesuperclick successfully. Im looking to put a good working ROM (one that has everything working until ICS ROM camera bugs are sorted out). For now I decided to try Eryigit-GB-2.3.6 G70ZCKPA Galaxy Player 5.0 For USA and INT (Rls:3.5) {UPDATED}.Is this the best room with everythign working?????
Also
I want to know do i need to flash with a kernel before i do this.or should i just chose the above rom to flash??
I see two kernels rj and entropy..what are they??are the kernels only needed for clockwork method??what is cwm?
And when ICS bugs are all sorted would i be able to just flash it with that ROM the similar way or do i need some kernel.??
one last question is there anyway to make a backup of my current stock firmware/kernel in case i want to roll back or something goes wrong.
Thanks for help in advance,
No, you can't backup your device as is, not to my knowledge. There is a copy of the stock ROM/kernel floating around somewhere here though.
With Eryigit, I believe that the kernel comes included in the ROM (hence, flashing the wrong variant [eg the INT'L version] will brick your device), so no- you shouldn't need to flash a kernel. check with the page though. ie If it says flash Entropys kernel before (Entropy= US SGP), do it. If not, don't.

Well, actually, flashing Eryigit Rom is quite safe... regardless of what device you have (INT or US)... The only thing is that if you flash the US version (Capacitive Home button) to an INT version (Hardware Home button) then your home button will not function... that is basically it.. no bricking will occur.
If you do flash the wrong version of Eryigit's rom, just simply flash the right kernel and you are good to go. No need to flash the whole rom over.
So... Eryigit's rom is quite good GB rom. I use it on two of my 5.0 players (INT) and it's quite stable and everything works...
Any of these current ICS roms (and future ones for that matter) will more likely contain the kernels as part of the rom... just flash the package and you should be set... Just make sure you read all the instructions carefully because a failure to do so WILL brick your device... ^_~
As for the backing up your stock rom... I believe there are a few stock roms (along with instructions) to be found in the devs section if you decide to go back. Your stock recovery will not allow you to do a nandroid backup.
thank you, can anybody post here the direct download link for that updated Eryigit rom. There are various links in that thread(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1465144) i don't know which one i need.
EDIT:
nevermind; i found it.
i was able to flash the Eryigit 2.3.6 rom after flashing with DD_01142012.tar without any problems.
Im having couple of probelma with the updated Eryigit rom. The music shortcut icon in the bottom left corner ont he main screen always force closes. (Although the program works in apps menu). the 2nd thing is the battery does not last longer.
Are these are known issues???
UBefore you flash to a new ROM,,ALWAYS no matter what you have to make a nAndroid backup.to do this install clockwork mod (search, its not very difficult.I can't tell you now how to do this) then reboot in recovery, backup and restore, backup.
This will make a rom just like your system.
If you can wait a few hours,I will upload a thread hot to install CWM for dummies
Don't forget to press the thank button!!!
Thanks for the correction, cvc.
If the program launches and works just fine in the app drawer, but the icon FCs consistently, it's might be due to a faulty file in either the /data/app folder and/or the /data/data folder.
Try deleting the shortcut first, then re-making it from the app drawer. If that doesn't work...
Backup your device with CWM before anything.
I'm assuming that the music app you're talking about came stock on the ROM, which means its in your /system/app folder. Since I don't know the name of that specific music player, look in those folders for a file that matches the name of your music player (all of those start with "com.") in the /data/app and /data/data folders with Root Explorer or Ghost Commander. Delete, then reboot. Remake the icon from the app drawer. If that still FCs, repeat, except that before you reboot, open the .apk file directly from /system/app folder.
thanks i will try that.
also one more problem
. no matter how long i charge the battery never goes more then 80%. is this a know problem.??

Hi. At last, deodex patch appeared for our Z4 tablet too!
Download links!!!
Android 6.0
For SGP771
https://yadi.sk/d/utGkXKPIq7hmX
For SGP712
Android 5.0.2
For SGP771
https://yadi.sk/d/c3nzIj1XoqpJD
For SGP712
Add the link when someone creates it on his own
Please do a backup first!!!!!!
HOW is it created?
Use this tool
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/tool-deodex-tool-android-l-t2972025
First you need these folders and 1 file:
root/system/app
root/system/priv-app
root/system/framework
root/system/vendor/app
root/system/build.prop
copy them to your pc folder named system
Move the content of root/system/vendor/app (the app folders) and the semgeneric folder from root/system/framework to the root/system/app or priv-app
start the deodex tool; tick the 3 folders and let it do the work
After finishing without errors , move the folders you copied from /system/vendor/app and semcgeneric back to their respective locations and you have the deodex folder which contained
app
priv-app
framework
vendor/app
create the flashable zip(replace the folder(system folder) in the the zip with yours and test it )
How to install:
-you may need this do first as patch is done when my tablet already had deodexed camera and album apps. http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/z4-z5-z5c-fix-camera-fc-installing-t3246962
-Flash in the recovery
-wipe cache and dalvik-cache
Bugs:
I haven't noticed them yet
What about reboots?
As long as I tested it. No random reboots being noticed. However, permanent reboots remained: after wiping dalvick cash[after "optimizing apps"](with xposed installed) and with xmod 2.1.1 for clash of clans. The tablet work as fast as before. I think reboot problem connected to the kernel. Now I think it is easier to delete unnecessary system apps with deodexed stock rom. And it's better for using some xposed tweaks.
Specials thanks to:
lordriguez huge thanks for his precious help!!!

I faced no random reboots for the time being. Year, I meant permanent reboot goes as usual after optimizing apps.
Guys. I think I know why we still have random reboots even with deodex patch.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/development/patch-deodex-patch-firmware-200-t3301572
Z5 users have the same situation with reboots(with their patch too)
Please take a look at this https://yadi.sk/d/cieOb3GXouhXwfiles it's root explorer search *.odex .
Once upon a time (today), One man told me if you want system without reboots. There should be no odex files at all. If there is at least one odex file, there could be a problem.
In the system priv app I have only one odex file called phonesky.without any apk.(After the patch of course). And what is pbonesky?, it's absent on the list of system files
And there are so many odex files in other parts of the system.
Seems we should transform all odex files, not only in the /root/system.
So please, tell me your thoughts on it.
Look forward to your response!!!

Year. The point is I have no apk in phoneshy folder, only odex file. That,s a bit strange. Do you have the same?
Edit 1 Ok. Our goal, to pull off all odex files. Now I'm thinking how. Auras advices to use SuperR kitchen with linux
yes, mine is empty too.
After reading your post, I uninstalled google play store with titanium backup. And then copied phonesky.apk to system/priv-app/phonesky and changed its permission. Then deleted the odex file and reboot. google play seems to be working fine.
Edit: I found out your patch actually doesn't have phonesky.apk.
Well. Overall, deodex remained odex files is not a problem. But someone should help us to write a new script for a flashable zip. That's a problem
I'm really sorry, it turn out that I forgot to delete my backup of the original odex system apps, that is why root explorer was finding so many odex files. After I delete my backup and Phonesky folder as it only had one odex file without apk. It found only two odex files..They belong to Google play services. How do you think maybe they are the reason of reboots with xposed?
So the patch works excellent. But two odex files from Google play services remained.
—-----------------
But take into consideration I have patched play store and some other users might have it too.If you have original play store, my patch will not affect phonesky(play store/market).
So is it better to reupload my patch with phonesky deodex patch, or user can patch it separately beforehand on his own, by lucky patcher or deodex tool?
I did a little research. Two odex files of Google play services are on absolutely any android system, even on full deodex cyanogenmod. So no need to deodex them, they are not system apps. They are not the cause of reboots.
In summary, we have 100% full deodex stock system, but the reboots after optimization aps with xposed and some others, it doesn't solve.
I hope that android 6.0 will be better

Thanks for your efforts and finding out deodexing doesn't fix random reboots.
Hi everyone! It's time to talk about deodexing marshmallow.
First of all, no random reboot after optimization apps on odex system. No need to patch camera and album apps. It works stable.
What I noticed.
After installing via flashtool and recovering apps from accounts , there were 17 gb out of 22. I got twrp backup, erased internal storage, restore my backup, and as I result it freed 10 Gb.
After deodexing system, everything works well. The size of app, framework, priv-app, vendor/app becomes around 1,6 Gb. The odex one is around 3.2.
There is a little nuance, if you want patched market on deodex system, you need to do it before this patch, do dump of the system stuff of your tablet and deodex it.
And what I've noticed too, that there are much more odex files remains in the data/app folder. In the lolipup we had only two odex files remained whereas you'll find more in the marshmallow. It means as far as I understand android install apps in odex fashion from the market.
So, at first glance, the patch seems is not so necessary, but if you want to customize android, it's better to have deodexed romtoo in theory.
So, look forward to your responses

Hi everyone! It's time to talk about deodexing marshmallow.
First of all, no random reboot after optimization apps on odex system. No need to patch camera and album apps. It works stable.
What I noticed.
After installing via flashtool and recovering apps from accounts , there were 17 gb out of 22. I got twrp backup, erased internal storage, restore my backup, and as I result it freed 10 Gb.
After deodexing system, everything works well. The size of app, framework, priv-app, vendor/app becomes around 1,6 Gb. The odex one is around 3.2.
