I do not know why it would stay on, but does the issue persist after a reboot?
EDIT: Also, is it SOLID or blinking?

The light is solid. rebooting, rebooting, rebooting.... it does NOT persist after a reboot... this is not the first time I have noticed it, just the first time I have noticed it where I could post and ask about it... but once I recieve a new text message, it will come on solid. Once I read it it seems to be staying on solid after that. but only when I turn off the screen. if I wake the phone the light goes off...
Ninja Edit... just uninstalled handcent and am back to using the stock Messenger app... prefer the black background I had in handcent, but so far the light hasnt got stuck on yet.... and now it is green for a new message instead of blue.... Hmm... as long as it works I guess right?

As long as it works.

After trying all of the popular SMS apps, I too have found my phone just works better with the stock messaging app. Go figure!

Are you using Light Flow?

I have noticed the blue light, which on my phone is mms, stays on as well. I use handcent, and won't give it up. I have found that by going into the stock messaging app, and selecting the last sent message will clear the light. It is a minor inconvenience, but I will gladly accept it in order to use handcent.

Just playing with lightflow it seems the photon can do blue, pink, orange, cyan, red, and green. All the other colors seem to be very close to or the same as a color listed above.

There was an update for Handcent this morning that was suppose to fix the LED issue.
My photon hasn't had this problem and i use Handcent exclusively.
Just throwing the update out there, i remember reading the LED fix in the release notes.

Color notifications in succession

Download light flow from market. I've tested it out and it works great. I've counted about 10 colors our led can do with slight variations of each. Blue, cyan, purple, pink, red, green, yellow, orange, white, gold, and a few others.

I was able to get the LED colors to work at first, then they decided to stop and start showing just green. Haven't rebooted to see if that fixes it, but it looks promising. BerryBuzz was one of the only apps I missed from my BB days. Haha.
Yeah I reluctantly chose to let this atrix replace my n1 and absolutely hated not having my colors. Now if we can only get individual people's text colors back we are in business

works well here.
does this draw more battery than the standard *always* green notification light?
i download currentwidget but it dont work so i dunno
i wish there's an app that will allow capture of notifications too. so we can assign lights to different apps simliar to how we can do it back on cyanogen roms.
meh, its not constant. seemed to be working at first, but now it only showing system default LED color settings for everything. then, yesterday it decided to work for the color i set for text messages received, was blinking a sky blue color. but even after i cleared the notification and looked at the message.....the dumb light was still blinking. i like the different color but i dont see the point if its not consistent
I see various colors on mine. So far I've seen green, blue, purple, and red.
It's a good start. I haven't had any issues, the blink rate isn't always 100% consistent but it works for me for now. I haven't noticed any extra battery drain for using this.
easiest way to get colors on your led for texts is to download chomp sms or handcent sms. you can long press any contact's conversation and change the LED for that person from that point on. 100% works all the time for me and chompsms.
if you want to change gmail led from the default green you can do that with an app called gmail notifier. just be sure to disable notifications of the actual Gmail app or else you'll duplicates. same goes for replacing messaging app for chomp or handcent
it would be sweet if the notification color would flash multiple colors, kinda like a bb trackball

This app allows that. It flashes them in succession. Ex, R=email Bl=missed call Gr=txt. so if I had a txt and an email it would flash in succession gr, r, gr, r, etc.

[Q] issue with gsb 2.5 rc 4 need help (simple)

Hello I am new to xDA and I'd like to say I am really impressed. With everything. From roms. Apps.themes.mods ect . Very impressed with gsb it is a incredible rom. My Droid Eris is awesome now although I am experiencing a small issue....when my phone. Is charging and I receive a txt and my led notification. Flashing green to tell me I got a text it will stop charging until I clear notificatin or read txt....how do I fix this?
Hmm, I noticed thw other day that the red 'charging' led stops when a notification (green) comes in. But I assumed that charging continued. Haven't had an opportunity to test it out.
Most of my led notifications are set to white (trackball) but I must have missed one. The Tball led works fine while charging last I checked.

Charging stops when green notification flashes indicating I received a txt ànd stops my phone from charging. I did a complete wipe and reflashed gsb but still does it. My trackball don't seem to notify me of a txt

You need to go into settings->CyanogenMod settings->Interface->LED Notifications->Miscellaneous and choose the apps for which you want trackball notifications (by changing the flash color to white).
I'll have to try this. You are 100% sure that charging is stopped when this happens? The battery icon on the status bar stops showing charging? Settings->About phone->Status->Battery status shows "Not charging"?

Ok, I just changed my text messaging notifications to green, sent myself a text while it was charging, and it continued to charge.
Anyway, you can use the instructions in my last post to change all of your apps to white to get trackball flash, if that's what you want.
Hey man ur the best, worked perfectly! Awesome.
Another question....my camera has a crazy delay when I push to take a pic and. Eveñ the slightest movement. Causes a blur...is this fixable? Also my keyboard does a period at random and doès the long press function on its own resulting in characters. Such as some of the ones in this post as u can. Seé
I just noticed the same thing. The Orange LED turns off while charging when I get a text. But it turns back on the instant i press the red power button to wake my phone up to check it. I do not actually need to check the message.
I am sure it remains charging during this, but there is no way to check because it turns back on as soon as I activate the screen.

Yes, when I checked this earlier I had it plugged into a charger that turns off when the Eris stops drawing power (i.e., hits 100% charge). When I received a text and the LED was changed, it continued to charge. That's how I knew it was fine.

[Q] Force notification LED to stay on?

I like having the notification LED. I've customized it with Light Flow and it works great. The only issue is that the LED doesn't do anything when the screen is on. Is there any way to get the notification LED to work when the screen is on?
Might I ask why you need it on constantly? Is it just for looks?

Yes there is, and your half way there. In LightFlow, general settings, check compatibility mode, check run as root. The light will stay on now even when the screen is on. The trade off is you only have 3 colors now.
I don't want it on constantly. I just always want it to blink when I get an Call/SMS/email, even when the screen is on.
And thanks for the info, WiredPirate. I guess I can take away the Battery Charge colors so I just have SMS, Gmail, and Missed Call.
Okay, now I have a new issue. The Compatibility Mode Light Flow notifications work just how I want them to...until the phone is plugged in. When the phone is on the charger, the notification LED ignores Light Flow and reverts to the default notification colors (green for charging, white for missed call, cyan for SMS, and yellow for Gmail). Is there any way to get Light Flow to take over when the phone is plugged in? Or am I out of luck here?
And now I'm confused. So, disregarding Light Flow, the Atrix's notification LED only works when the phone is plugged in and charging? That's stupid.

Blinking Light notification

I cant figure out why my phone keeps blinking its notification light. Any one have an idea why?
Most likely a rogue app acting up.
ok thanks for the response
If I may add to this topic without creating a new one, how come my blinking light for notifications will stop after about a minute or so? I recieved some texts but didn't know it until I manually turned my screen on. So I sent myself an email, and it blinked for a minute or so, then stopped. Is this normal?
i actually think that is suppose to happen. Ever htc phone i have had has a certain duration of the notification light blinking and then it will turn off. the only phone i have ever had it go on until i checked the notification is my old droid. i was apply to on the galaxy nexus, but had to use an app to make it work. Light flow is the app

It's actually 5 minutes I think, at least on my phone it is. It is my biggest complaint with Sense and why I switched to cyanogenmod on my evo shift. It would be the one reason I would switch to the GS3 if I had to think of a reason since there are nice solutions that use an amoled screen for notifications that will not time out like that. (an app called noLed, doesn't work well unless you use amoled))
Anyway, it must be coded real deep because I've never seen a dev fix it or even hardly mention it and people have complained about it for years.
It really makes the notification light kind of worthless.
There are some apps like light flow that in theory can fix it but lightflow doesn't work for me when my sound is turned on with this phone so it's worthless right now. Missed reminder might be able to help as well but I haven't had a chance to try it.
Unrelated, but does anyone know how to disable the bright green light when battery is charged? lol

[Q] LED notification

So I am running Shrike's PAC JB Rom (non ION) and i am S-On. Ever since I switched to all these JB roms, whenever i get a notification like from a text or email, the little LED light stays on, instead of flashing periodically every 4 seconds or so like it did before. Is there a way to switch back so that it blinks periodically? It probably only saves a little bit of battery but I still want to switch back...
Could be wrong, but I do believe that there is a notification light setting you have to toy with.

yeah there is. The reason it stays on is because it is auto defined as white (because a lot of phones have white lights) so you have to play with it and pick the right green for it to work properly
Length- normal
Speed- very fast
Those settings have worked for me. Flashes amber, can't seem to get it to flash green.
