New superuser in market - Defy Themes and Apps

Does it's worth update in our Defy? I'm currently running the old superuser v2.3.6 and thought about updating it thru the market but reading the comments seem a lot of peoples complaint it ruin the root access. What does you all think?
Sent from my awesome Moto Defy: Stock Rooted Gingerbread 2.3.3 - XDA Premium

I installed it, have not seen any difference regarding root, everything is working as good as it has before *titanium, adfree, root explorer part of es file explorer, etc.

yeah, me neither, according to what shown in the market about the new version, only fixes some little problems that had the previous version, apparently minimal things, I do not really know what it does, since I never used all the functions of the Superuser.

[Q] Root fail on Optimus T after v10s upgrade

I used the LG software tool to update my Optimus T from Froyo 2.2, LG-P509-V10l to 2.2.2, LG-P509-V10S. Now I can't get it re-rooted. In both v10l and the one before that, I was able to easily use z4root to gain root access. Now z4root starts, but closes a few seconds later without completing. Have also tried Universal Androot and Super One Click 1.91. Both fail. SuperOneClick doesn't offically fail, it sees the phone just fine, but never gets past "Running psneuter."
I had used the LG software tool once before to upgrade to v10l and all went well. Only issue with v10l was very slow performance using wifi. This new version, v10s seems to have fixed that, but includes more "crapware" than ever before AND has a new self-starting app called Wifi Calling that tries to ram wifi calling down your throat if you are connected that way. You gotta manually disable it (opt out) to stop it from automtically sending your calls AND texts over wifi! And then it has the nerve to inform you that wifi calls still count against your minutes!!!
Any idea why this new sw version is breaking three different rooting methods?
z4root does not work for Android 2.2.1 or later. Gingerbreak is what you need. It is great and easy. I rooted my Optimus T with it.
Hey, thanks for the heads up! I'll give Gingerbreak a try and post my results later.
Gingerbreak works! Thanks again, you made my day and weekend! Hope other people will find this thread. Gingerbreak is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765
Already got Titanium backup Pro reinstalled and am ripping out the crapware now.

Great! Chrome crashed and by the time I get back to give you a link to gingerbreak, you have rooted the phone.
Have fun!!
PS It is better to freeze apps rather than delete them. Just in case.
Yeah, I'm quick when it's that easy! I rip out the real crap like game demos and web2go to save space, and I do freeze the rest. TB is just the best!
had the same issue after upgrading to 2.2.2 thanks a lot for this post saved me
since we have optimus T on the topic does anyone know why the new 2.3.3 baseband internet doesnt work here in the US at least with the optimus T

ROMs based on stock GB only. Unless you are told that you need a new baseband for the ROM, it will NOT work. Read the instructions for the ROM.

Not able to re root my Acer liquid mini after gingerbread official update.

Hey guys I had rooted my Acer liquid mini a few months ago using super one click 1.7, it rooted successfully.
Now recently I installed the official gingerbread (2.3.5) update and then after that I couldn't run apps that needed root permission, so I did a root check and it said it wasnt rooted. So here where the problem is whenever I try rooting with super one click 1.7 now it gets stuck at some "pneuter" step or something.
What do I do? I really want to root again but it doesn't seem to be going ahead of this step.
P.S - I have USB de bugging on.

Have you tried rooting using a newer version of Superoneclick?
Yeah I tried v2.3.1 it seems to get stuck at the 3rd step after killing ADB server and starting ADB server. It left it alone for like 5-10 minutes din't seem like the program was responding. I have rooted my cellphone before and it should take nothing more than a minute, I think something is wrong.
Oh and also after the official update I had all my files and apps as I left it before updating that means before updating it must have automatically backed up everything. So it also backed up the superuser app. I had Superuser, titanium backup, ROM manager still installed but couldn't run any of them (since I lost my root permissions). I hope that helped. Just disclosing all the things that happened.

You could try using z4root and/or Gingerbreak.
No z4 didn't work I used 1.3.0. I don't think it has anything to do with the software, I have rooted before and it should work, I think it has something to do with my cell , something to do with the update cuz it dint work after that.:| but I don't know what went wrong.

It is your software. That's why when you root your device, it is advised not to update officially; but instead using a custom rom (based on the updated software version). You were able to root before since your previous firmware was rootable (at least in that way).
Oh damn that means I have to wait till they come out with a root able version of my cellphone? Isn't there any other way out?

[Q] Galaxy S2 Root

Hi all,
New to all this. Have performed a root using the instructions here. Thanks lyriquidperfection
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125414
Seemed to work ok, just installed first insecure kernal on the list without matching to my kernal, it installed Superuser but not Busybox, so installed that from the market.
The reason I wanted to root it apart from 4.0.4(needs to be rooted?) coming soon was in the hope I could get shot of some of the locked apps Samsung and Google installed on it. Busybox looks to me that you need to know what you are doing to use it. So the question is is there anything simple I can use to get rid of the locked apps that I don't want?

check the link below for the same ma8
Spread Sheet of removable APPS
ps- read carefully the same to understand the apps importance and then remove it if its safe
Thanks Sun, that will help greatly
Wonder why they make it so complicated, most of the pre-installed stuff is a lot of tosh, then again so is the Market stuff

[Q] Rooting issues 2.3.5

Had to SBF 2.3.5, phone became obscenely buggy all of a sudden.
I used One Click to root, Super User is saying the su binary is outdated.
One of the stickies in the dev section says (2.3.5 only) zergRush under "Rooting", tried that, but have the same binary issue.
I am certain I am missing something glaringly obvious, but I don't play with my phone as much so I'm pretty rusty...
only two ways to get 2.3.5 system version 1.3.418 rooted
magic md5 root
or sbf to 2.3.4, root with pete's (not zerg), use voodoo ota root keeper ( run, back up su, temp unroot), install ota update 1.3.418, restore root with voodoo
see how to root 2.3.5/1.3.418
there are two leaked 2.3.5 versions 1.3.412 and 1.3.413, 412 can be rooted with zergzush
but these two leaks are no longer compatible with eclipse rom, if you plan on that
or rather not compatible with current version of eclipse

Super User is saying the su binary is outdated

use superuser's built in updater, to update binary
superuser's default is to notify if a newer version is available
tap on left tab 'info', tap to check for updates (middle of screen)
or uncheck notify if binary is outdated, don't really need update
Thank you sir, worked perfectly!!

[Q] I don't have SuperSU or Superuser etc.

I don't have any app like SuperSU and Superuser even though I am rooted. Is it the fact that my device came prerooted? Could anything odd/bad/weird happen without these apps, and how can I install them to /system/app?

It is possible for the ROM to have its own superuser control. You could either flash one or install one from the market and make it a system app (using Titanium Backup, etc.)
