Question about slide to answer on CM7 - Atrix 4G Themes and Apps

On stock Gingerbread, when receiving a phone call, I just pushed the button to answer or ignore. Now on CM7 I have to slide to unlock in order to answer or ignore. I have checked all the Cyanogen Settings for the lock screen and phone and there is no way to diasble this. I also use "No Lock" from the market but it looks like there is no option to change this cm7. Can anyone help?

When screen is locked and phone rings, you slide to answer. When you are on your phone with the screen in, you push button to answer. I havnt been on cm7 for a while, so I could be wrong. That's how it is in homebase

No, you have to slide to unlock whether the phone is awake or sleeping. After researching for a while I can't understand why this would be stripped in cm7 when they seemed to fix it in Gingerbread and even Froyo I think. Seems like a lot of people were complaining about it on other message boards. I just wonder if it was intentionally stripped out of cm7 along with the ability to ignore with text response.

Uhmm.. Mine works fine. No issue like that.don't need to unlock to answer.

Thanks for the reply but could you be more specific? Are you running the Cyanogen Mod 7 beta ROM and if so are you saying that when your phone rings that you don't have to slide to answer i.e just push the answer button, or are you saying that you dont have to swipe to wake up your device and then swipe to answer?

Yep running latest cm7 available for atrix. Didn't really changed anything regarding the locksreen.. though i do have gestures enabled along with the regular lockscreen.
I only have to slide to pickup the phone.. never needed to slide to unlock.. then slide to pick up..

I think you misunderstood my original post. I do not have to "slide to unlock" to wake the phone in order to "slide to answer". Just like you, all I have to do is slide to answer. I want to change it where I can just push the "answer" button to answer the call like you could in stock Gingerbread.

not sure if this does what you want it to do, but i replaced my caller ID screen with it because the stock one wasn't compatible with my density levels.
anyways, check it out, it's pretty customizable: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.androminigsm.fscifree&hl=en

Well you need to reword this..
You can try and use a different dialer in the market. Personally, Sliding makes more sense to me as you don't wanna accidentally pick it up or hang it up on a press..

Maybe widgetlocker will let you add extra sliders to your lock screen.

Can rooted x10 finally remove the lockscreen?

Please tell me you can! Give me a dream! Show me some hopes.
(i am about to break my x10 in half for 1-2 more lock screen freeze on calls)
Have you tried MyLock from the app market?
There's an app called "No lock" That disables the initial swipe lock, but if enabled it unfortunately also disables the security swipe codes too.
how do you use MyLock
I found it useless
+1 for nolock
no lock is ****e. it doesnt properly lock and unlock the screen. more like a black screensaver.
what is needed is a way to unlock using KEYS, something like in the keyboard mapping trick

I've had "goto" for a few days and it's great.
Lots of options from lock screens; shortcut to email, call logs, messages, etc.
Sometimes it goes to x10 default swipe screen but goto screen will kick in almost immediately. You'll see what I mean.
You'll be glad you tried it out
I hate the lockscreen slider
When I press "on" I want my phone "on"
And answering calls with the finger slide is a pain in the ass
I thought I would get used to it, but NO
NoLock didn't solve the problem because you still have to slide to answer, and yes your phone goes to homescreen when pressing the ON button, but also when pressing ANY button (including the volume keys which get pressed easily inside my pocket), finally NoLock screws up the notification bar slider
There MUST be a way to answer calls by just pressing an icon or button, without having to slide the finger
There MUST be a way to just press the f*ck!ng ON key and start using the phone
.
If only we can remove that bloody lockscreen...

My experience with touchscreen phones is this is a completely silly idea.
Think of all the time the button would get accidentally pressed in your pocket, and the battery life loss while on in your pocket.
I don't know how it works on Windows Mobile, but one would think this would be an even worse problem due to how prolific resistive touchscreens are on WM.

The problem i found with goto is that to answer calls you still have to swype, and when trying to turn off an alarm clock at 7 in the morning its really uncomfortable to use. Other than that its pretty awesome.
there should be a way to do this, perhaps tinkering with framework-res.apk could do the trick (either enable double click to unlock like in hero, or just simplify the swype movement)
(ive asked about this before)
im just discovering android and x10.
if get desperate enough i'll try to simply replace the relevant files from stock 1.6 firmware ... im gonna reflash anyway for 026 or 2.1
worst thing is this lockscreen during call - many times i dont even se WHO is calling.

I disabled the menu button switching on the phone by editing the file in system/user/keylayout, now only the power button switches it on.
To get rid of the lockscreen would be really useful to me now I've done that...

i wonder if messing with the framework can do it,
what i really noticed is how GOTO Lockscreen are able to replace the original one 99% of the time while other app like lockbot - which i adorably like - can't do this and instead show two lockscreens over each other
mylock and nolock are of NO USE they are both useless
No app i found can replace the swipe call , and only GOTO can fully replace the standby lockscreen,
i triend most of the lock screens out there but with no use..
btw, Widgetlocker is for 2.1+ right ??
Ive tried to use tasker to do this, so far it can react headphone plugged in and unlock the screen automatically (sometimes: /)
I ve tried to test if camera button can be detected during call and then unlock the phone - didnt work - event which supposed to fire on call is not activating.
Also camera button is ignored on locked screen.
By editing the keymap with the FOCUS key the phone wakes up but tasker doesnt handle this key. Perhaps it is possible to write the plugin....
Ah if only we could compile custom kernel.. every problem can be solved when you can cook on your own...

Ah, I see.
Still, to me, it seems useful to have that extra layer of security protecting my battery life. Never know how many times that power button will get accidentally pressed in your pocket!

Hi twentybenson, so could you explain how you edited the file, which file (i have three) and changes you made?

3 clicks to pick up phone !!! =[

is it just me or do you find it annoying that it take 3 clicks just to answer a call!
1.unlock phone (im using widget locker and that takes me straight to the phone app yet i cant answer directly from there =/)
2.swipe down notification bar
3. click the green button to answer
is there a way to make the phone apk come up like a popup or like normal and unlock the screen and full screen?
i tried using dialerone but that didnt ever turn on =/
any suggestions ?

It must be due to widgetlocker as I simply hit the answer button when I get a call.
most android phones, when you get a call, pick up your phone and swipe the answer button, and say hello. not sure what you've got going on to make that so difficult

yep you were right about the widget locker. but i fixed it so it shows incoming texts and calls.
i did it by opening the widget locker app > clicking the phones menu button > Settings > Popups > unticking hide sms & incoming calls.
you should be able to pick up using the home button, no idea how widget locker behaves but with the stock locker I can answer that way (assuming I enabled the home button in settings)

There's a setting in WidgetLocker that allows you to answer the phone calls without the need to unlock the phone, it's called Hide incoming call, make sure it isn't green.

Removing simple swipe unlocking?

One thing that really annoys me about my X2 is the fact that when it's idle and I want to use it, I have to first slide my finger left to right to unlock the screen, and then put in my security pattern to use the phone. It's a little redundant and stupid to have to do both. Now that I"m rooted, is there a way I can remove the initial left to right swipe screen unlock?

There's a free app in the Market called No Lock. I have it, and it works great!

Ah that's right, someone mentioned that before but I wasn't rooted at the time. Thanks.
EDIT: Actually that takes both things off, I only want the initial sliding unlock removed, I still want to enter my pattern...
I found AntiLock which does what I want but is kind of shoddy... it shows the home screen for a split second before making you enter the pattern, and there's no emergency contact button down below. There has to be something else out there.

I use No Lock; put MIUI on my wife's nook color and No Lock was bundled with it. Seems to work well.
No Lock doesn't do what I want though, I still want some security in the form of the pattern lock. I just don't want the stupid left to right swipe screen, it's pointless.

Lock screen question?

I am on SenselessROM 2.1 Beta 1, so its the HTC lock screen, but Sense call/answer apps. Is there a way to set it up so that when you receive a call to have the lock screen not show up but the answer and decline screen show up? Because for me I have to unlock the phone, then swipe my password to just hit the answer key. I am pretty sure my blur-less Droid 2 didn't work that way, unless I am terribly mistaken. Thank you.

I'm pretty sure it's a problem with the rom as I've heard of other people having this problem, but don't hold me on that.
:/ That's no good. I guess I will wait until a fix comes about. Thanks
The fix requires re-writing the HTC framework and I dont think that will happen.
Ah So will you then for your senseless rom move to the aosp way of doing things, or no?
look for a semi sence rom with the lockscreen or just pull it yourself and add it to your fav rom. make sure you get proper permission from the devs.
Well I am running a Semi-Sense based rom.

[Q] Simplicity v5: Disable lockscreens and volume key wake up screen?

Hi.
First of all, thanks to abhi922 for this great ROM. It is really light and cute.
I've read the thread in Development section, and I know how difficult it was to implement the lockscreens in this ROM, so it can be a little ironic that I want to disable them entirely, and even remove them to get a little more space. I can not find a way to disable them from the Simplicity options, it just let me choose between locks. It is possible to get rid of the them?
The other question is whether there is any way that the volume buttons do not wake up the screen. I use a lot the music player (PowerAmp), and I don't like having to turn off the screen every time I go up or low volume. I`ve read that PowerAmp don't do this, but in my case, it does.
Thanks in advance.

For first,
First go to simplicity settings enable all 15 toggels
In that you will see Lock toggel just off it your lockscreen will get disabled .

Yes, I have activated the toggle in the status bar. But is there anything more ... permanent? Do not know if it's normal, but I have to use the lockscreen toggle every time my phone restarts. It seems to work much like the "no lock" app: does not disable the lockscreen, only prevents it activates.
So I wanted to know if it is possible to get rid of the lockscreen, or is that Android simply does not allow it, and now I have to spend the rest of my life (or more like... phone life) inactivated it every time I turn on the phone. I know it is not that bad, but well... yep.
Ok, I think I've made it (at least disable screen wake from volume keys, for lockscreen I'm still using "no lock" until I find another way to get rid of it)..
I found this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1086526) and downloaded the file in the first post, but doesn't work for me. It seems that disabled lockscreen and avoid volume keys to wake up screen are not compatible. You have to choose one -_-
But reading the rest of the thread get me this idea and it works:
I've open /system/usr/keylayout with my root explorer and edited all the files that have VOLUME_UP and VOLUME_DOWN on them (in my case, bcm_headset.kl, qwerty.kl, sec_key.kl and sec_keypad.kl).
The thing is that you have to delete the word WAKE from each VOLUME_UP and VOLUME_DOWN that you find.
Mi lockscreen is desactivated (with "no lock" app) and my screen doesn't wake up anymore with the volume keys AT ALL
Thanks to DocRambone and aydc for the ideas. And to Hitesh2626 for your attention.
