I plan to use Optimus V on a Canadian carrier TELUS as per tutorials:
[HOWTO] Edit PPP and M.IP to enable Data on Different Carriers
Dump Your Phone Memory. Moreover, I plan to use a regular Telus Evdo dumb-phone (not an Android) as a donor. I have no idea whether or not I will be able to assess Android Market right on the phone after such cloning. So, in case I will NOT, how can I get and install certain free Android apps? Specifically, I am thinking of VOIP apps NIMBUZZ and SKYPE.
For exmaple, If I try to download Nimbuzz from it's official website to my desktop, I get a message:
NIMBUZZ said:
Unfortunately the files for Android can only be downloaded directly to your mobile. Go to http://get.nimbuzz.com with your mobile phone.

I am a complete N00b with Android and have a very limited experience with Linux, will appreciate any advice.
Finally, as a very last resort, I would first activate Optimus on it's native Virgin Mobile and install Android apps from Android Market. But it is not a good solution.

The My Orange app which is pre-installed on all Orange UK Mozarts will display the current Data Usage (with slight delay) alongside other usage on your account.
At the moment there isn't any third-party app to do this as the access simply isn't there for developers.
*BUMP*
I heard that with the release of Mango these APIs would be available to developers. I did check msdn and the APIs today but couldnt find anything useful. Seems strange to me though as the SDK is versioned 7.1 and Mango is (?) version 7.5... Maybe they plan to release another SDK where access to those classes is available, does anyone know?
I have an Update for Smart device manager in the android market... But i am unaware of what it does or what it is for... can some explain this to me.
Yea I noticed that update too. I'd like to know if I should update it as well.
You guys might want to look at this link: https://market.android.com/developer?pub=Location+Labs
That is just a list of there applications... that does not tell me what it is ... thank you though...

it could be 'carrier id' or simply the app that allows you to do 'parental controls'.. Sprint allows you to track your children's phones etc...
just sayin'
I've noticed that after I updated this app, I've been randomly receiving text messages filled with random text. I'm tempted to uninstall it but I don't know if there will be repercussions.

back up the .apk if you can, remove it and if it craps out your phone, re-install..
or make a nandroid backup (if you're rooted) then delete it.. if it craps out, restore..
I got tired of seeing it on app brain so I updated it. Haven't had any issues. I don't even think the app is running.

I just got this phone and am new to Android so I don't want to mess with it too much too soon. My temporary solution was to blacklist the sender using Go SMS Pro.
I want to buy an Android as cheap as I can. I live in Spain, and I found the best offers in the USA eBay web. These offers are for mobiles attached to a phone company and not free.
Since I am not using it for calling, just for develop apps and test them, can I buy them?
I just need them to load normally but offline, with apps, bluetooth and wifi working. Is that possible?
Yes, just log in with a Google mail account and you can use everything.
Android OS is universal
Android OS is universal it does not change according to country, it remains the same all over the globe.
Hey Everyone,
I appreciate any input or insight anyone can provide on compatibility of the Verizon LG G3 and MirrorLink/AppRadio2/AppRadio3 (for an Alpine/Pioneer head-unit) .... I cannot root my phone......
I have searched through multiple sites trying to find any information. Some individuals have had success, when rooted but others not so....I cannot root my phone due to TouchDown for work, which i must have, and it will not work if AirWatch detects root.
My primarily goal is the ability to transfer my cloud based Google Music, Spotify, Pandora etc to the headunit and be able to interact with them there. Google Maps capabilities would also be beyond money.
According to Alpine's website MirrorLink supports only the SIII, while Pioneer AppRadio3 works on
LG Optimus 2X (P990) Android 2.3.4 HDMI
Optimus G Android 4.1.2 MHL
Optimus 4G Android 4.0.4 MHL
So would it work with the G3? If so, to what extent. Appreciate any knowledge anyone can provide. Thanks in advance.

You can root your phone, install exposed and an app call root cloak. It will hide root from any app that you choose. (Ex: thats the only way to get Isis working - or whatever its called now).

I actually tried that and a number of other method combinations on my G2 but AirWatch would always find Root status.

Hmm, there are other root block apps available too, which I'm sure you tried. I'm out on this one...
I need root and ActiveSync also, but I installed Enhanced Email for ActiveSync and it allows me to optionally avoid the administered security policy.

We have a hundred tablets running Android 4.0.4
We would like to give them to all students in our school who cannot afford a new computer. It would be used to use the gsuite apps but the Android version is too obsolete to install these apps.
I ask the developers of this forum to help us. Can you make a rom to use these Exagerate XZPAD700 Tablets?

Wondering why the need for an Android 4.0.4 custom ROM?
G Suite is Software as a service (SaaS) , means users have to connect to and use cloud-based apps over the Internet.
Think you don't have to install anything other than a bowser on tablet to make use of G Suite, if not already done yet.

Unfortunately, the gsuite apps we use are mainly classroom and Meet. But above all meet is the app we use most. To use Google meet we need to download from the play store, but it is available only for Android 5.0+ If instead we want to use Google meet in the browser in desktop mode, it tells us that the browser is not compatible. I have tried with other browsers for example dolphin, opera mini, uc browser etc. but it is the same problem. Ultimately we cannot use Google meet with these tablets and we have many. It's a shame not to be able to use them for students who don't have a computer.
To try out whether the tablets's Android is upgradeable or not, run the Compatibility Test Suite (CTS) what is a free, commercial-grade test suite, available for download here. The CTS runs on a desktop machine and executes test cases directly on attached devices .
