Just came from Thrill - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Man am I glad I returned the Thrill! I also previously had an Inspire which I have zero complaints of besides GPS antenna issues.
This phone simply rocks I love it.

Lol, overall I have read good reviews so I hope it can live up to the hype.
Congrats man!! I saw that contest on their site thats pretty cool. U will love ur photon. Mine took a bit to get used to but its by far the best phone ive ever owned.
Anyway thats very cool congratulations!
Sent from my Photon on the Now network.
Congrats! You will love the phone. Great radios, nice res, faster updates then sammy.what's not to love? so what if there isn't alot of dev support...phone doesn't really need it.it's awesome out of the box and needs minor tweaking. Enjoy!

While I wait for the phone to arrive, what's everyone experiencing from Sprint 3G and 4G lately? I was with them for a month in February with the original Epic 4G and it was nothing compared to what I got with T-Mobile. (Hence why I came back, lol.) Now a free phone and true unlimited data sounds good though.

Congrats you'll love the phone, it's pretty legit. I like it way better than my Evo. As for the speeds, I guess they're not "as fast" but I never have any issues with them. Works fine for me.
So I have been playing with the phone today and wow. I'm very impressed. I kinda love it, lol.

Possibly upgrading to evo3d

Well I am very interested in this phone but would like some honest opinions about it here are my questiones. Was the phone what you thought it would be? Is the dual core fast, any lag? and how issue battery life
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
I love my 3d and it is speedy and all. But to be honest, if i were upgrading now i would get something else. There are better phones out now as tech moves so quickly. Not a bad phone dont get me wrong, just better ones are out there now

I've had a lot of android phone and the evo 3d is the only one that's I've been so satisfied with since my droid 1

Thanks for feedback I have 2 weeks to decide and it's either this phone or epic touch battery is an issue I would like a phone to last majority of the day also u would want a phone that I know will be updated to ics I know HTC already confirmed this with evo3d don't know about epic touch
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
Evo3d and epic touch are the best 2 choices. I would say the 3d because its fast and made by htc. Gotta love sense.

Evo 3d is the best phone sprint has hands down... And some of the best developers...

I have an Epic 4G, was going with the Touch BUT! I just bought me an Evo 3D from ebay. I think the masses believe in HTC. They are just better built and from what I see here, have more support. Mines in the mail baby, I'll be joining you all here soon.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
I really dig the Photon and the SGSII is nice as well. But for me, Sense is where it's at. Plus the Dev support is fantastic and exceeds that of the Sammy and MoPho in my opinion.
I had the opportunity to go Photon or Evo3D. Went Evo3D. No regrets. The community really ha made this phone a beast. Before root, I must admit I missed my Evo4G... Not anymore. 3D is neat, but ultimately a gimmick in my humble opinion. The dial cores are fast. I'm running Eternity on mine and it is buttery smooth. To the battery issue.... I chew through them. SIMPLE and CHEAP solution. Ebay up a set of 3 spare batteries and a battery charger for $20. Cha ching!
E3D'ed... Booyah!
Wow you guys are really convincing me to go with the evo3d

Sarcasm? lol Play w/ it for a good long while and choose from there. I'm still thinking of trading in my Evo 3D for an Epic Touch 4G... but I have heard nothing but problems from peeps on these forums regarding said device. LOS; cheap build quality; software issues after root, etc. BUT I have also heard nothing but good things about the screen/camera/phone's fluidity.
I've played w/ the ET a couple of times... I've never had any issues w/ it at all while handling it and the fact that the phone FEELS so much smoother than the Evo 3D really makes me want to make the switch.
Anyway, the Photon beats them both for phone stability and build quality but the interface is very bogged down/laggy and the dev support is pretty damn scarce.
Make the right decision. :3
I figure the battery is the same as epic touch which is bad so I would go have look for quality and I know the evo3d has some weight to it which is fine with me epic touch looks like its poor quality any thoughts

Really depends on what ur coming from. I mean its a bad ass phone for sure but I think I could have been just as happy sticking with my 4G EVO. I love my 3d don't get me wrong. It's fast and reliable for sure. The 3d feature is cool at first but i don't really find any real use for it. Definately love it but think about this too, LTE phones should be coming out one after another starting next year. Depending on what u got now maybe u should wait and see what's new in the first quarter.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
Some times it's just so damn hard to try and wait.

If you've held out on upgrading this long, I'd go ahead and wait for Sprint to start releasing LTE devices next year. That would suck if you upgraded now, right before the end of the year and in 6 months LTE devices come out and Sprint's new LTE network starting to become operational, and you're stuck with a WiMAX phone for 2 years.

Yes!! 2 Evo 3D's here for almost 5 months. 100% satisfied. My wife upgraded from Hero to Evo Design 4G 2 weeks ago and that phone is awesome. Go play with all the phones and buy the one that blows your skirt up. Grandpa always said "never buy anything that doesn't excite you". Good luck!!
galaxy nexus, hands down

Holy mopho....

Hi folks, just switched over from nexus s 4g and it is so far in my rearview i can barely see it. The mopho is such a more quality piece of equipment imo. I unlocked, rooted and installed jokers skinny rom with the 1.3 oc kernel. This phone is a beast. I know im not telling u anything u dont already know but i had to put it out there.
Been through evo, optimus, moment and ns4g and by far this phone is best!
Look forward to greatness!!

I say the same thing every time I use my photon. Proud to be a MoPho!!!
I've another great + for the photon and Android in general is the screen size. Ever try playing a Gameloft game on an iPod touch? The screen is so tiny lol

Photon on its way.

Well, I've been an Evo 3D fag, but i've been having problems with it and I don't really like it. First one went completley dead, and this one has random reboots and gps is fried.
I brought my e3d to sprint last night and they gave me an option of the E3d or Photon.
I decided to try the Photon ( mistake or good choice)?
The E3d is very buggy and just isn't very good quality. I heard the Photon gets great reception and such. The 3D was garbage and bars would jump to 5 then instantly drop to 1 all the time.
Hopefully I made a good choice. Or did I?
Good choice to my evo3d back after 7 days for the photon
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
My son has the 3d. Great device, except that he doesn't get good reception. I love my Mopho. However don't expected as many roms here as the 3d. The ones we have are great though!

Hello,
I purchased an EVO 3D as part of the First to Buy promotion last June as a Premier Gold after having a wonderful experience with my EVO 4G.
All I can say is after literally 5 different 3D's, 2 weeks ago I finally demanded a different Android Handset and too was offered the Photon.
I truly cannot be happier and as I already had a 16gb SD Card, the amount of Storage I have is staggering. It has been hard to get used to the Home Button not being at the far left, but I have gotten used to it.
Cheers,
JJ
Thanks for the replies, i do like the storage on it. I know there isnt much going on for development, but i'm not too worried about it. It doesn't make that much of a difference with the phone its just fun and addicting.
The E3D is just so buggy, the roms and phone itself.
I just got my photon today coming from a galaxy s2 i didnt have los but at work its like a dead spot and with my epic touch 4g i would lose all bars but with my photon i get full bars plus 4g wtf.!!!! Photon ftw.!!!
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
Congrats on your choice. I just unlocked about 3-4 days ago and it was very easy. From what others have told me it is a very hard phone to brick. Reception is by far the best I have had on any phone. I think you will like it!
Welcome to the club. Most will tell you the photon doesn't need a rom. I'm one of those people. I'm satisfied just being rooted on stock. It's pretty much hits the nose in terms of what I want from a rom. Enjoy!

MoPho
I think you've made a very good choice. I recently just got the Photon in the last week coming from an Evo 4G. This phone has the best reception of any I've owned. Battery life is also excellent. Over all I am very pleased.
Like nyckid stated, the stock ROM is very good. I have yet to see a compelling reason to flash an alternative. Unlike with my Evo where I was flashing a new ROM or kernel every other day, lol.

Awesome, I was kinda worried I made the wrong choice, but now im anxious for it to come :O. i can live with the stock rooted. Flashing is too addicting and on the e3d almost every rom is buggy to the point where you wanna throw the phone out the window

Funny, I had Evo, Rooted it only to put it back after 3 days. I Rooted Photon, but it back, rooted again for bettery battery life (I use ROM Toolbox Pro!) but for the most part, I like the Photon just like it is, Stock?
I also think you made a good choice. I've always owned Moto phones, except for one. The quality and reception are always great.

Ive had the evo 4g,on launch day as well as evo 3d.and i must say the photon is the better phone...hands down!!!!

Hey i traded my gs2 too lol. I was lucky enough with a guy on craigslist that barely got his phone and didnt like it and i barely got my gs2 maybe 2 weeks ago. So we traded and he added cash on top. Honestly this phone feels better in hand feels solid doesn't feel cheap in hand and the thing im super happy about it that it has superb signal. I've never owned a motorola phone but now i love em.!!! This phone is fast, no droped calls, great battery. Im in love with my mopho.!

To be rooted stock means you don't have to unlock the bootloader which means you keep 4g right? If so that's what I want to do.
And I just got my Photon today as a replacement for the 3D. So far so good.

That is correct. Root is sort of like administrative access on a computer.Lets you install cool stuff you normally couldn't and make changes to your system, if you would like to. It wont break your 4g in other words.

4th evo lte, good build quality?

Any one else exchanged there's? Everyone says the build quality is good but I question that. All problems are internal never physical outside issues. Always, "never seen that before" worker at corporate store finally, after threatening to buy out of contract, she allowed me to switch phones instead of another HTC evo I'm going to the galaxy 3. See if I have better luck....

lol you question the the quality of htc then go to samsung which arent known for quality feeling phones  :in my best Jim Carey voice: alllllllllllriiiiiighty then!
I know, but with the 4g issues on the EVO I thought it was best to switch. Don't know when or if HTC will fix the issue. Why get another refurbished phone. At least ill get steady 4g. Owned every EVO that's been out. Plus more development on gs3. Please don't hate me just tired of problems. Loved the phone but.......problems problems problems. Starting to remind me of my pre. Went thru 6 of those suckers.
