[Q] CWM Issue - G Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I installed CWM initially, but it never rebooted automatically after installing. I rebooted it manually and all hell broke loose. The only way that I can start g tab now is if I use nvflash. Once I got the system working, I tried shutting down and then getting into CWM again, but a no go. It doesn't even start regularly, with just the power button being pressed. Any advice?

It turns out that I am stuck in the APX mode all the time. If I press just the power button, the APX mode comes on. How can I get out of it?

[Q] Gtablet won't turn on!

I am running Bottle of Smoke and am getting tired of it. So I turn off my gtablet and try to boot into Clockwork Recovery, the viewsonic logo came up and told me that the recovery key was detected as normal but then the screen turned off and when completely black. I don't know if it is on or not but nothing has seemed to work. I've held Power button, held power and volume up, even i tried power and volume down to get into APX mode and nothing has worked. What should I do?
Perhaps your tablet got stuck in APX mode. There is this procedure that has helped some people and maybe it would do good for you as well.
Good luck,
Dave
My coworker's gTab was stuck in APX mode, and I used these steps to resolve it. Major pain, but it did the job. Prior to that, I tried everything, but no matter what ROM or boot loader that I nvflashed, nothing worked (it would still boot into APX even if no key was pressed). If you run Linux it's very easy to check if you're booting to APX mode. Just plug the system into USB while running tail -f on /var/log/message and you should see APX mentioned in the syslog. Other than that, it doesn't even seem like the tablet was on (but it really was).

[Q] axp mode

Hi
I was stuck on black screen and tried powering down using power button, nothing happened, tried power and vold down same, then triedpower vol up.

I eventially got prime rebooted using just power for a few seconds.
My question now is what is apx mode used for?

APX mode is used for nvflash access, but it requires encrypted messages to talk to it
Same problem
I have the same problem. My tablet only boots in apx mode. I've try many methods but only boots in this mode.
bump.
Have you tried to reboot it after connecting it to pc, long press it?
Since this is probably uncharted territory since we dont have nvflash access at all, have you guys thought of sharing your experience with asus? in an attempt to push them to release it, that there's people already stuck in situations like this.

[Q] galaxy tab2 10.1 wont enter download mode

I have new galaxy tab 10.1 which I am planning to root, however I cannot get unit to enter download mode. I have tried unsuccessfully at least 20 times using the recommended method of turning the unit completely off then holding the vol-/power buttons. I press the vol- slightly ahead of the power button and hold. All I get is the samsung splash looping over and over with no download or recovery menu icons popping up after the samsung splash. Once I let go, the tab will go into android recovery mode with the option to reboot which takes me to where I started. I have followed all of the tutorials to the tee. Is there another way to get to download mode? Should I take it back if this indicates a more serious problem.
I have also done a factory wipe/reset to no avail. Will vol+ / power do anything?
thanks for your interest I would appreciate any help.

I seem to recall that at least one variant swapped the button around. In any case, it can't hurt to try volume up.
Here's what you do - first, shut the device off by holding power down and waiting for the confirmation.
Then, when it's off, hold the volume down button (to the left side, next to the power button.) Holding that down, press and hold the power button. When you see it light up, release the power button but continue to hold volume down until you see the recovery/download icons.
If doing that doesn't work, try volume up and power. Good luck!
Ill try your suggestions. thank you

I'm having a similar problem. I have a galaxy tab 10.1 wifi that I rooted immediately when I got it. I havn't used it in about 4-5 months. I've already done all the odin and download stuff, but now i want to update my cwm and install a JB rom (I'm currently using aokp). I'm having a funny problem with it now -- Its difficult to turn on and impossible to get into download mode.
In order to turn on my tab, I have to hold down the power, connect the charging cable and get the download screen to turn on, then hold down the power again, wait for the screen to turn off, unplug the power and hold the power button until hopefully it turns on again. And this doesn't always work, sometimes I have to do it a few times. But whenever i've tried do the same thing that gets the tab working normally -- only holding the down volume as well as the power, Nothing happens.
Now once its on and working, things work great, but turning it on is a pain and its impossible for me to bring up the download or recovery option.
I've also tried to 'reboot to bootloader' and that doesn't work, although i can still 'reboot to recovery'
Any tips?

I have almost the exact same problem...
Volume up puts me into download mode and i can connect with Kies but it wont do the JB update
Voulume down ... nothing just boots
if i let it try to do the OTA update it will freeze at the boot screen and stay that way till the battery dies.
To get it to work again i have to do almost exactly what was decribe above..
I have no recovery options at all.
also my Tab is "NOT" rooted

I had a similar problem initially... the screen would just flash the "downloading" message, but the tablet wouldn't mount/connect to my laptop. Here's the solution:
1) launch odin
2) connect usb cable to laptop only
3) power down tablet
4) hold down the power volume down buttons together
5) when you see the downloading message, let go of the power button
6) let go of the volume down button (now just displays "downloading" message, but nothing happens
7) press volume UP
8) you'll get a message about installing custom ROMs and be given the option to do so by pressing volume UP again
9) the tablet mounts and connects to odin
10) from there follow the instructions for flashing recovery via odin (i.e., using PDA button...)
FYI just double check the guides again regarding download and recovery modes. In the thread title you mention Tab 2. This is the forum for the original Tab not the Tab 2. Both devices have different methods and key presses to access the various modes.

Kinda bootloop

I got a D618 and it suddenly turned off and when I tried to turn it back on, it just bricked and keeps bootloop-ing. The phone is stuck on the LG logo and then the screen went off, then get back to the LG logo and suddenly the screen go off and so on.
Already tried Factory Reset but can't because of the LG logo-screen go off loop, also tried LG Tools but can't get into Recovery Mode.
Any help?
Have you tried pulling out the battery for a couple of seconds, then put it back and try the hard reset (aka factory reset) button combination?
To be honest that was the first thing I did.
I don't have TWRP as recovery, can't get into recovery mide either
How about download mode?

Can't either. When I tried to get into Download Mode the phone keeps doing the same, it's like the D618 keeps restarting once the LG logo appear
Do you have adb enabled on the device?
If not, then try this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/g2-mini/general/guide-unbrick-bricked-wrong-aboot-img-t3128896
Honestly, I have never seen a bootloop that affects all boot modes...
Are you sure you got the hard reset and the download mode key combinations right?
Hard reset: Press and hold Vol- and Power, once the screen comes on, release Power for half a second, then hold both of them for a few seconds, until you see the hard reset menu.
Download mode: Make sure you have LG's drivers installed. Hold the Vol+ button, plug a data-enabled USB to your PC and your phone, all while holding the Vol+ button. Keep holding it until the phone enters download mode.

It's been 3 days and still the same.
The phone was working all right, I didn't flash a new ROM.
Yes, I tried all key combinations. Tried the hard reset key combination, it shows me the Factory Reset confirmation message but once I set YES it enter the bootloop again. Also tried the Download Mode, but once I get into the phone just restart and go into bootloop.

That's the first thing I thought but I tested the battery with a multimeter and it's all ok.

It is probably not the battery, but mine just let the phone reboot when it gets a little hot. There is no problem with the voltage in normal use.

t870 S7 unlocked bootloader stuck in loop

sm-t870 unlocked/rooted stuck in bootloop
cannot enter recovery or download mode, or even seem to shut the tablet completely off.
any combination of buttons turns the tablet on with the message "bootloader is unlocked press power key to continue"
so holding power+volUP, must be let go to press power which seems to interrupt the button combination
power+volDOWN seems to shut the tablet off for 5 seconds but it automatically turns back on.
having plugged into laptop seems to make no difference.
help!
Hi man, have you fixed this issue? I'm having the exact same problems as yours. I updated my Magisk it just went bootloop.
Thanks!
Plug into PC then Power+Volume Up got me into recovery mode
