[Q] Rotate Screen Manually - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know there are other threads related to this topic but problem with me is that my mobile's accelerometer has stopped working, so turning on/off auto-rotate feature is of no use to me. Is there any application or widget that helps to manually rotate screen or at least gallery so that I can view picture in landscape mode. Go Launcher Ex allows to rotate homescreen and app drawer but doesn't rotate any application. I just need an app to view pictures in landscape mode. Please help!!

Solution!!
I searched the whole web for a solution to my problem which just like this thread. I wanted to be able to cycle between landscape and portrait at the press of a button. Unfortunately I found no tutorials to do so, therefore I had to develop my own method and I wanna share it with the community.
*This doesn't require root permision! : )
This method isnt free but afterwards you can rotate the screen by double tapping the home button.
1: Invest ($1.49) in an app by Coin Soft called "Orientation Control"
1.a After installing open the app to change some settings. Set the switch style to "Cycle". Then select Cycle Settings>Disabled Switch>Auto Rotate.
2: Now download a free app by Hideki Kato called "Home2 Shortcut" and open after installing.
3: Now you need to set up "Home2". For step 1 of the Home2 set-up, select "choose Application>Installed Applications" and set it to "Orientation Switch"
4: Scroll down to step 3 of the Home2 set-up, and select "choose home application" and set it to whatever your preferred launcher is.
5: Finally read step 4 of the Home2 set-up, and do just as is says.
Now you can double tap the home button at anytime and rotate the screen. Hope someone finds this useful ; )

Kiser360 , thankyou so much!

Another Option
There is also a free app called Ultimate Rotation Control (By FAME IT) that I came across that works perfectly for manually controlling orientation. It includes a widget to manually control landscape/portrait. Its will also let you override apps that lock you into a particular orientation. I was playing around with a new port of MIUI on my TF201 and this came in handy due to auto rotate not working.
I didn't try combining with Home2 shortcut because the widget worked fine for what I was trying to accomplish. There are a few check boxes to enable the L/P controls. Good luck.

[Q] Talkback toggle creation... Please help!

OK... I have got Tasker, I`m trying to make a shortcut to talkback, or accessibility that can be accessed from double pressing the home button.
I have tried xshortcut to try and use the capture feature on it, but I get a permissions error.
I could enter it in the intent field manually I suppose, but what would I have to type as an intent to get to talkback to either toggle on or off, or to get just the the talkback screen?
I have looked and looked. The closest I am getting is com.android.settings.Subsettings.
Yes I am a noob and yes I am out of my depth, but I am just trying to make a talkback toggle for my partially sighted wife.
Any flaming/suggestions welcome
EDIT: In an ideal world, the Home2 shortcut app would work, as you can select a shortcut in this app, so I would make an accessibility shortcut with Anycut, and use it with that, but SGS2 isn`t compatibile with Home2 shortcut, and advanced home button app cannot select shortcuts

any update on this?? Am also trying to figure out the same thing for galaxy s and an android tab..
Closest I have got is, because Home2 doesn`t work on TouchJizz, you install some kind of AOSP rom then it works faultlessly.
The closest shortcut you can make is getting to the accessibility page, this is does either through Nova launcher actions (which I thinik is similar to anycut) or use Anycut itself!
Talkback needs an update...
Same here. I emailed the developer of spiel and he says a direct shortcut can't be made as Google limits this!

[Q] Home screen landscape

Does the lte have the ability to view the home screen in landscape mode?
Not by itself. If you use an MHL adapter or the Media Link, it goes landscape, but thats it.
1) Download "rotation locker" from the Play Store
2) Open the app, when the popup menu appears HOLD DOWN on Auto
3) The app will vanish and should remain running in the background (see your notification?)
4) Landscape Rosie!
Be sure to disable for camera as it makes it a weird rotation! Mileage will vary on other apps.

[How-To][Video] Double-Tap to Turn Off Screen with Nova

So one of the main things I hated when switching to the LG G3 is the fact that I'm someone who likes to use third party launchers like Nova Launcher. Because of that, I lost one of the main selling points of the LG G3, double-tap to turn off the screen from the Home Screen. Well, this morning I had some random epiphany and realized there's gotta be an app to turn off the screen without using the button on your phone, and remembered Nova has a gestures and clicks shortcut feature to perform tasks. So whether you have an LG G3 and are in my situation OR someone who has ANY other Android device and wants to do this too, be sure to check out my latest

You do realize you can just tap the notification bar to turn the screen off, no matter which launcher you're running, right?

Sure do! But it's a bigger phone, I don't want to reach up all the time, especially if I can avoid it. Not to mention that on the home screen my notification bar is hidden to save extra screen real-estate. So while that feature is nice in apps, it's not always the most convenient nor is it always an option for everyone. Plus this also lets ANYONE use this feature, not just us LG G2 and G3 usuers.
Dude pretty smart trick.. Been looking for a way to do this with nova.. Thanks
Can't watch the embed for some reason (chrome on g3), but very pleased to see this. I set double tap of home to kill the screen as another option, but still want a tap anywhere setup.
I'd do a short writeup in you original post so you don't have to watch the video as well and give a link to the play store app if one is being used.
Thanks.
For those who use greenify, from within the app select the menu button and create shortcut to greenify and sleep. Single tap but must be on icon where you chose place on desktop. Greenifying is the bonus.
Videos are helpful, but sometimes I just want a how-to guide. Let me save you guys 4 minutes:
1.) Install Screen Off and Lock: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock
2.) Launch Screen Off and grant the app Device Administrator access.
3.) Nova Settings / Gestures and Buttons / Double Tap / Apps / Screen Off

Gonna cheat and add this to the main post via copy and paste. Great for people who want to save time or are at work and can't listen. Thanks!
Or even better if you find the apk for the google launcher the phone will have the the stock feel and still have the normal knock on feautre. Link is below how to set it up. I use it on all my devices and have no problems what-so-ever.

[Q] Disabling default gestures / Watch face

Hi all. I recently got a Callisto 100 and installed monx's EZ SMART ROM on it.
1) Is there any way to disable default gesture(swipe left to go back, swipe right to menu)? I installed GMD Gestures app and want to substitute default ones for other apps using swipe gesture, but I cannot find any menu about it.
2) I'm trying to implement 'flick to power on' feature. So far I managed to make the screen turn on with Shake app, but it just shows the screen I used last, not the lockscreen(default watch face). Is there a way to do this properly?
3) Are there any useful free watch face app or lockscreen app I can use instead of dull default watchfaces?
Thanks in advance.

BlackBerry Launcher allows short and long-press keyboard shortcuts for homescreen

I was thinking, if BlackBerry Launcher allows you to customize keyboard short-cuts to any key on the Priv/KeyOne, maybe it'll do the same for the Gemini.
Yes, it does! The launcher isn't as flexible as Nova, but it allows you to set up keyboard shortcuts while on the homescreen. So, for example, I can quickly go home with Fn+D and then long-press M to launch Google Maps. You could toggle Tasker shortcuts or anything else as well, possibilities are pretty endless.

Great thinking. It does work! I created Ctrl+ type short cuts.

You created shortcuts that require you to hold down Ctrl first? How? The only options I see are long and short press.
I mount the Gemini in my truck as the head-unit when I get in (I'll share the solution in another post). Just created a Tasker profile that when I long-press Q it turns the display brightness all the way up, sets display timeout to never, connects to my Echo Dot via bluetooth, then reads back "Car Mode On."
When I hit Q again it reverses everything and says "Car Mode Off." I'm having fun hacking this little device.

I installed the BB launcher then just pressed the Ctrl key with a letter key (e.g. "e") and the launcher offered me some options to link to this combination.

No, it's either a long or short press of a single letter. You are unnecessarily holding Ctrl, it's not needed.
I tried Blackberry launcher but couldn't get it work in landscape, anybody been successful for this?

Make sure your Planet App Bar is set to Force Landscape and Display Settings are set to Stay in Landscape when Rotated, or get an app like Ultimate Rotation Control which allows you to fine tune rotation, which is what I did. Set it to Force Auto, which will allow apps to rotate that don't normally allow that.
