[HOWTO] CM7 - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Since the section's becoming a bit messy I'll explain the complete (and fast) procedure to get CM7 on your mini and mini pro
As usual I presume you know what you are doing and I really suggest to read the all tuto before start. Moreover you should realize that you'll lose almost all SE native stuff (camera app, music player, timescape,etc...see here nevertheless )
3 steps are required :
I. Unlock your bootloader
There are 2 ways :
-The software way : approved by SE, may lose warranty, definitely lose drm (tip: don't dl the all andro sdk as required by SE, just use the fastboot package below)
http://unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com/instructions (detailed steps here (part A)
-The hardware way : keep drm, may lose warranty too
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1285285
Click to collapse
II. Install the recovery
You have to use the fastboot command and flash a modified boot.img provided in FXP kang version (in official CM from version 7.1.0.1 too)
1. Download your device's version http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1226715
2. If you used the Hardware way to unlock your bl, download fastboot package from here http://www.multiupload.com/BMJ24IL6XY and extract it on your computer, if you used the Software way, you already have these files, you can skip this step
3. Extract the boot.img from (1.) to your flashboot folder just created
4. Dl the android driver provided by SE here http://unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com/downloadinf.zip
5. Shut down your phone, then holding VOL+ button plug the usb to your pc
6. Wait til windows show the popup of "installing new hardware" and point to the drivers folder. Once done you are in fastboot mode (blue led)
7. Open a cmd from your fastboot folder on the pc (holding shift and right clicking at the same time)
8. Enter "fastboot flash boot boot.img" (without the "" ^^)
9. 5s later you must see a ok in the cmd window, you're done
Click to collapse
III. Flash CM
2 options again, the official way or the kanged FXP
A_If you want the official CM, download your device's version here :
CM (for mini) : http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=smultron
CM (for mini pro) : http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=mango
Then the Gapps : http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Latest_Version#Google_Apps
1. Put both files on your SD card, reboot the phone and when it start, keep pushing the VOL- button til you get into the recovery (Navigate with vol and menu button, get back with power)
2. "Wipe data/factory reset" then in advanced "Wipe dalvik cache"
3. "Install zip from Sd card", flash cm, then gapps
4. Reboot and voila
Click to collapse
B_If you want the kanged version from FXP (original dev):
Extract the zip files from the previously FXP download and flash it the same way as above
FXP's version can be slightly more advanced and optimized than the official since his versions are first provided on xda, then through official CM
Click to collapse
I'll edit this topic soon with more details and requests if needed
Of course a huge thx to FXP for porting CM to xperias and DooMLoRD for his general dev support!

Will try CM7.0.1 on my device soon but I read about three bugs in the CM7.1.0 has it been resolved ??
Thanks for the tutorial

Not yet but for the mini, it's small bugs...not really annoying

One more thing, is it possible to revert back to the previous rom ??

Sure, you can nandroid or simply go back to stock with an original firmware and flashtool

sorry if this is the wrong area for this post but since i can't post on dev area yet i put it here:
1- this is my first android phone and i like it more now with CM7
2- keyboard bug is not that big of a deal
3- backlight issue already fixed
4- hope they fix the camera and flash issue soon
now with my issue (which is why i mentioned the dev area before), there seems to be a problem, at least i had it, with CM7 and pin locked sims, i had to go back to stock rom to unlock it because CM7 just wouldn't accept my pin, i gues i'll have to keep it pin unlocked and wait to see if it's a bug or just had bad luck, anyway i'm getting back on CM7 as we speak, so just for precaution i suggest you unlock your sim before you go into CM7, but like i said, maybe it was just me (although, i believe i saw someone with this problem in dev area).
great ROM and thanks to the developers for the great job.

I have a mini without simlock and cm keeps asking me to unlock every reboot (even I can enter my pin), I just cancel and no problem. This sim problem will be fixed soon for sure

i was able to use CM7 too by canceling the request of pin at the startup, but i had no gsm signal, it said there was no sim inserted or something about the sim being locked, can't remember which one but it just wouldn't accept my pin even from the settings menu; everything else was working just fine (except for the known issues ).

Oop! my sk17i stuck with CyanogenMod animation logo. I've wait for almost minutes but it doesn't appear anything Help...please

Did you wipe data/cache partitions through recovery ?

Maybe stickie this thread.
Anyways, try this on cm7:

Could you please tell me more detail? I am not really clear on how to do it ... please

What don't you understand ?

Recovery Part Explained
If you have installed cm rom to backup the existing system then to restore completely to the present state just the backup will not work you have to flash back the same existing rom for it to work again. I switched to cm7.1.0.1 and then back to rooted stock kernel
Just the restore didn't work for me until I flashed the original rom. So now I am back to rooted SE kernel . Waiting for all the bugs to be fixed before I switch to CM

Hi.
I want to get back to stock rooted SE kernel too. I think that I have to follow these steps:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16659481&postcount=33
Do I have to flash boot.img (SE kernel rooted) first, then firmware?... Or, what's the order?. firmware then kernel?.
Thanks in advance.

I assume u are right now in cm with free xperia rom and had taken a backup with cm rom. In that case restore using the cwm and then flash the rom which you had flashed before installing cm7.1.0 .
I didn't flash firmware just did the restore and flashed the previous rom which Ihad. It worked for me

[Q] Flashing X10 mini question

Hello,
First I want to thank all xda-developers for their work!
They do even better work then the providers!
Question 1:
Well my question is that I want to flash my SE Xperia X10 Mini.
I already unlocked the bootloader with the following guide:
Link 1: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225
Although now I want to flash the kernel.
In the thread (link 1) stands how to flash the kernel.
But also in the following thread of the ROM that I want to install after worths:
Link 2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1068553
Link 1 says that I don't must flash any .sin files.
Although link 2 says I need to flash the kernel.sin and the loader.sin.
This getting me confused, now I don't know what I need to follow?
Question 2:
Also at the link 1 it talks about a .ftf file that I can't find.
Where can I find that?
Question 3:
In link 2 when i download the ROM I get a file called "A MiniCM7-2.1.1_nAa-kernel02.7z".
So it says it got a kernel inside (I guess thats the .ftf file) but I can't find it inside it.
Anybody knows where I could find that?
Thanks in advance.
Greetz,
Jan2426
I think you have wrong link to get custom kernel, find here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1256739 see instal guide, there the link kernel ftf file.
Before flash that kernel you must flash the ROM in Link 2.
to flash custom kernel you must download ftf file if you had zip, extract and you will get ftf and put that in folder flashtool/firmware, and you can see there 2 file.sin in there from flashtool.
If i can help you don't forget to press thanks button.
Thanks for your quick response!
U helped me to the right direction already.
Although i still have a question left.
Question 1:
To flash the ROM I just need to copy it to the root of the SD-card?
Thanks in advance.
Greetz,
Jan2426
Copy Rom ( *.zip) to the SD Card ,
in the ClockworkMod choose option
- install zip from sdcard then
- choose zip from sdcard then
find file with ROM and apply
VOILA
of course I assume that you have ClockworworkMod installed

Yes,
1. Copy ROM to sd card
2. boot in CWM recovery
3. Wipe Data/factory reset
4. wipe cache partition
5. advance>wipe dalvik cache
6. instal zip from sd card and chose ROM.
don,t forget to backup your file first.
and now you can flash the kernel.
Thanks both for your answers.
Yes I installed ROM manager.
Although stiv8785 you say I first need to follow these steps and then flash:
1. Copy ROM to sd card
2. boot in CWM recovery
3. Wipe Data/factory reset
4. wipe cache partition
5. advance>wipe dalvik cache
6. instal zip from sd card and chose ROM.

Although I first need to flash kernel and then follow those steps.
Just like it stands in the other guides.
Although I already copy the ROM to SD card.
Please note me when I am wrong.
Both a big thanks again for your quick response.

EDIT:
At the moment I wanted to flash my phone I am still confused (sorry guys for my slow understanding).
To flash it by this following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1256739
He says:
Flash the kernel via Flashtool
Click to collapse
Although that gives me to less details how to flash is correctly.
On the following link there is more details about it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1068553
He says:
Flash the nAa kernel using Flashtool. To to this:
- Turn off your phone
- Start the Flashtool\X10FlashTool.exe and select Flash. Then select the E10_nAaxxx kernel firmware (this flashes both the kernel.sin and the loader.sin)
- Keep the back button pressed while connecting the usb cable. Flashtool should detect your phone and flash the kernel.
- Once done, disconnect the usb cable and power on the phone.
Click to collapse
And the following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225
Says this:
Generally you have to delete all the files in /system/lib/modules before flashing a custom kernel!
c. Put the (kernel name).ftf file in the /firmwares folder. (Don't flash any .sin files, flash only the .ftf file.)
d. Open Flashtool.
e. Click Flash.
f. Select (kernel name).ftf.
g. Turn off your phone.
h. Connect your phone in flash mode (only when the popup window prompts for you to do so). (To boot into flash mode, press and hold back button while connecting your phone to the PC using an usb cable).
i. Disconnect your phone (do so only when the popup window to prompts you to disconnect your phone).
j. Reboot and you have a custom kernel!
k. Confirm by going to Settings --> About Phone --> Kernel version. It should have the name of the kernel you flashed.
m. To flash back to stock kernel, download the appropriate file below and follow steps listed above.

Which one is the best to follow for my SE Xperia X10 Mini (E10i)?
Steps I already have taken:
1. Unlock the bootloader.
2. Install FlashTool v0.2.9.1 beta.
3. Put the .ftf file into the following folder: /firmwares.
4. Put the custom ROM (the .zip file) into the root of my SD card.
So far all successful.
sorry, maybe because I use the Mini Pro not mini.
Please follow the instructions in the ROM thread, I think everything is clear.
and all the materials you prepare is correct, good luck
No problem
And thanks again I will follow that guide now.
I am charging my mobile now to 100% now before I start.
Although I installed ROM manager but didn't do anything with it yet.
Should I do something with it before flashing or?
I have totally no experience with the ROM manager.
Anybody could give a short guide how to use the ROM manager and where it's good for?
I am sorry I keep asking questions but I am a bit nervous about flashing my mobile.
I don't want to brick it hehe
EDIT:
Do I need to delete all files in "/system/lib/modules" before flashing?
There is only the following items in it:
sdio.ko
tiwlan_drv.ko

Have you installed the Recovery CWM?
You don't need ROM manager.
No need to remove the module, if the ROM is compatible with a custom kernel.
At this following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1068553
or:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225
Stands nothing from Recovery CWM.
Do I then still need to install it?
Also if I need to do I need to install it before or after flashing the kernel?
Or is it included by flashing the kernel?
EDIT:
I notice that I keep getting in a circle of keep asking questions.
I will try to break this circle with the following.
Tell me how far it's done:
- Good.
- Bad.
- What else need to be done.
- What need to be changed.
I'm sorry that I keep asking these questions, but like I said before I am getting bit nervous about flashing my phone.
Although I want to do it because SE stopped with giving us updates and I am stuck with 2.1-update1
Step 1: Root phone (done successful).
Step 2: Unlock bootloader (done successful).
Step 3: Flash kernel (not done).
Step 3a: Turn off your phone
Step 3b: Start the Flashtool\X10FlashTool.exe and select Flash. Then select the E10_nAaxxx kernel firmware (this flashes both the kernel.sin and the loader.sin)
Step 3c: Keep the back button pressed while connecting the usb cable. Flashtool should detect your phone and flash the kernel.
Step 3e: Once done, disconnect the usb cable and power on the phone.
Step 4: Install Recovery CWM (not done).
Step 4a: Don't know what to do here?
Do i need to install it actually?
NOTE:I also heard something about Busybox, but I don't know much about that either and is it needed?
Short explanation about the colors:
Green: done successful
Orange: I think it's the right way to do not sure and not done.
Red: I am confused and don't know what to do.
Thanks in advance.
Greetz,
Jan2426
GOOD
Make sure has been successful flash custom kernel:
go to settings> about phone and see if the kernel version is 2.6.29 SEMCUser @ SEMCHost # 1 you have not succeeded. but if his version is compatible with the kernel name or initials, you've managed to flash a custom kernel.
I read the thread nAa kernel, CWM recovery already in the kernel. to be sure reboot the phone, wait a moment will live on and the screen appeared an image or text first on press back button. iff you in to the recovery menu (for navigation, home to select).
please proceed to the next step in ROM instalation guide.
So I can untill ROM manager and busybox from my mobile?
They are not needed?

i erased sd card as was advised and repeated with no joy,ive done this about 10 times now.
Please could someone please help me or advise me what to do about this problem, any help would be greatly appreciated.

if your phone has been root, you don't need busybox. because it's already installed on the phone when in root. (I assume if your phone already in root)
ROM manager i think it, s optional.

repair again, use SE Update Service.
if you,ve same problem, i think something wrong with your phone.
bring it tu SE Service Center.
stiv8785 once thanks again! (I pressed every thanks button at every post of yours )
So I unstalled dropbox.
I guess I will keep ROM manager on my phone for now.
Although I got one last question (I hope ).
How do I backup my ROM that I use now (the standard thats on every SE X10 Mini)?
So if something goes wrong that I still got a backup.

Flashign loader
Flashing kernel.sin
flashing finished.
Now unplug the device and power it on.
Then go to application settings.
turn on Unknown Sources and Debugging.
Although I can enter the boot menu by pressing the back button on the mobile, when the distorterd boot logo comes on.
Only now he keeps repeating the SE intro short movie.

Bricked Xperia Neo MT15

So Laugh at me I've bricked my neo mt15i
So some suggestions on where to look to fix it would be nice, or maybe someone knows how to unbrick it?
I bricked it using some ICS firmware with Clockwork mod,
I booted into clockwork after turning it on, selected install rom, installed the new rom, came up with a interesting install menu with next, select neo or neo v, Of course I selected my mt15i neo option, clicked next. It went through the install said it was finished and rebooted.
Now its stuck when it turns on at Sony Ericsson, and doesn't move from there,
I can turn it on holding the option key to get it to fastboot mode or the back key for a green light which i think is recovery mode.
So i've tried using the sony ericsson recovery software but it was like no bad firmware since I can a custom 2.3 rom, so it was rooted and everything.
So how would I go about fixing it from fastboot or recovery? I'm sure there is a way, but I haven't found any thing yet through my google searches.
Thanks in advance guys
Why are you using ICS rom with GB kernel? flash some custom ICS kernel.
btw: that option key is called menu key
also you didn't say which rom you was trying to use
ahh sorry it was just a random ics rooted rom of the neo,
Its a tweaked one of some sort of version 4, ill need to find it in my download list again since i renamed the file when I put it onto my sd card

it doesn't actually matters, main problem is that you use GB kernel with ICS rom.
What do you mean GB kernel?
Since I unlocked the bootloader when I first put on the original rooted rom, but Im not too sure what else I changed when I first rooted it from the guide.
So could we go some where from here and change the GB kernel? or Have a dug myself in a hole in this case

You were using gingerbread before, right? And then you installed rom from CWM, right?
oh yep sorry always forget these names
yeah i went from GB to ics using clockworks mod 5,
but yeah im slowly understanding what im missing now, so i need a ice cream sandwich kernel to make my rom work,
My phone is now booting into clockworks 4 by itself when I turn it on, So I guess I can do something from here?
I think I managed to get cwm 4 on by flashing it using flashtools, so i think I need to find a kernel which supports my new rom would be my guess, but flashtool doesn't seem to like the kernels i've been finding and the ones that come with the roms i've managed to download the links seem to be all dead so far

Well managed to get it going after about 6 hours of reading different forums today
Thank you for your help guys!
So I worked out I used a tweaked rom link-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1720177
But the kernel didn't seem to work for some reason, though maybe I tried it with the wrong rom and thats why it didn't work, all i know is i've got a 2.6 kernel with 4.0.4 ics,
this said this has been quite a good learning experience, even though it was slightly stressful as I tried option after option.
But yea the problem was the kernel from what I could work out, and when I was booting up into clockworkmod 4 that was when I'd flashed the kernnel to it, I could install other roms from there and then re flash the kernel after i'd install the rom.
What I don't understand is why clockworkmod 5 was deleted when i used it to install the rom originally, since it wouldn't work after that (holding down the volume button when turning on)
Though maybe its still there after loading a rom that boots now, haven't checked yet
Neo / v has no recovery partition, which is where cwm usually installs.
So we have 2 options install to /system or /boot when you have locked bootloader you can only install to /system, most rooms format /system at install so unless the rom contains cwm it is lost.
With unlocked bootloader cwm lives in the kernel, as performance is better with custom kernel most rom recommend one, therefore no cwm needed is system.
To clarify cwm for locked Xperia is s compressed archive extracted to and ran from cache partition, so once your in recovery formatting system isn't an issue but it is lost at reboot.

Dude, it`s very easy to unbrick your neo.
You should do step by step:
1.Install latest Flashtool to your PC.
2. Install ADB drivers
3. Download Official Sony Firmware 4.1.B.0.431 Central_Europe and kernel with cwm, i prefer night-elf

[Help needed ]xperia mini not booting after flashing

Hello all, typical noob here.
I tried to install cyanogen 9.0 on the phone(st15i)
i followed this tutorial(at cyanogen wiki) and everything went fine up to :
On the computer, open terminal and run the following command:
fastboot -i 0xfce flash boot boot.img
fastboot -i 0xfce reboot
Click to collapse
then when I try o power on the phone, It won' get turned on no boot screen(battery level was full ), I tried pressing the volume buttons, while pressing the power button, no use. I can feel the vibration while holding the power key. Can any one please help me out? I tried reading some threads and tried few stuff, still no use.
Is your Bootloader unlocked? Because if your Bootloader isn't unlocked ( official method by Sony or tespoint method) you can't Flash the custom Kernel and it won't work.
Have you flashed the Kernel or Not?
Sent from my SK17i using xda app-developers app
yes, bootloader is unlocked(Sony method) , and I flashed the kernel(should i post any screen shots? I used fastboot)
Maybe Flash Sony offical Rom again (Flash Sony Kernel and then Sony official gingerbread Rom). Then try it again.
And you are sure you performed all steps of the tutorial? And everything went really fine?
Sent from my SK17i using xda app-developers app
I'm downloading official rom now. will let you know the result.
But remember to download the official kernel from sony, too! And flash the kernel and then flash the ftf file from the rom!
And then reinstall cyanogenmod. But I'm not sure if this helps anything...
Could you post the link from the tutorial?
Did it work?
the phone's now back to gingerbread, official rom worked

Then you could try it again. I don't know now if gingerbread is right, cause the cm9 rom is ics, right? Sorry but I don't know if you should root and update to ics and try it then!
Which rom was installed as you tried to install cm9 first, as it didn't work?
Could you pls post the tutorial from cm wiki?
They won't let me post the link
I was running ICS earlier . Guess I need to update now

Don't update over the air, or your phone will brick!!
Why won't they let you post the link? I don't know if it is against the forum rules, but hmm...
FIRST READ AND THEN CHOOSE IF YOU WANT TO TRY IT ON YOUR OWN RISK!
Do it like in this tutorial. But download the files from here. Then extract it, so you have got 1 packed and one extracted foler.
Then install sony flashtool and go to the flashtool installation folder on your pc and make a new folder "kernels". Then copy from the extracted cm9 folder the boot.img to the kernel folder of flashtool.
The packed package of cm9, you put on your sdcard. Then you open sony flashtool, click on the flash, choose fastboot mode and go to your created kernels folder and choose the boot.img. Make sure it is named boot!
Then connect phone in fastboot mode (volume rockers up and connect usb to pc. It will automaticly flash the kernel you have chosen.
SEE THE LOG BEFORE YOU PLUG OFF THE DEVICE!! If everything in the log is right, you can turn your phone on. When the "Free xperia project" screen comes up, you press volume down again and again, until clockworkmod comes up.
When your are in cwm just do it like in the tutorial. (Wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition)
Then choose "install zip from sd card" and choose zip from cm9. Click yes and it will automaticly flash it. DON'T TURN OFF DEVICE WHILE THE PROCEDURE! Then, when it is ready you can startup your device.
I DONT TAKE ANY RESPOSIBILITY AND I'M NOT SURE IF IT CAN WORK (just installed it like this on my xperia mini pro)
Greets and keep up! In the end you will experience cyanogenmod 9!!
Michael
It's something related to minimum post . Well ... I guess CM9 kernel hat I downloaded might be corrupted.

But does it work now? Cause with the method I posted before and with the files I posted it should really work. Cause I tried it on my mini pro, the files and kernel I posted is for your xperia mini
I installed CM9, works fine now.

[Q] Live With Walkman and Cyanogenmod 9

Hello there!
This question might have appeared alot but I'll try to be as short and accurate as possible on the following:
About two weeks ago, I decided to root my Sony Live With Walkman (4.0.4 Ice cream sandwich) and now I'm thinking of installing Cyanogenmod 9 stable release. But I'll leave this mod for the last part and let us focus on the rooting process I've done.
I've used the following tutorial: talk.sonymobileDOTcom/thread/41119?start=0&tstart=0
At first, I was unsuccesful but in the second try I had managed to root my device (Unlocked bootloader).
Being a bit tired over the official Sony ICS, I thought of putting Cyanogen to my device. This is where the things get confusing for me:
I've spotted multiple tutorials and each one is different and unclear to me. These two are the ones I'm thinking of as the most reliable sources:
- wiki.cyanogenmodDOTorg/wiki/Sony_Ericsson_Live_with_Walkman:_Full_Update_Guide
- technologic101.wordpressDOTcom/2012/03/12/tutorial-how-to-install-cyanogenmod-9-0-ics-on-your-se-xperia-2011-device/
So, I have Cyanogen9 coconut, drivers, fastboot, google apps and proper FTF file downloaded.
But what now? Which tutorial is better and accurate for my state of device? Am I risking a brick by doing this? What are the current downsides of Cyanogenmod9 for this device?
Please, write your opinions, explain or link me to the proper guides for my case. I am grateful for any kind of information you give me!
Thanks!

Is kernel the TFT file or the Cyanogenmod zip file (about 125MB)? And how do I flash this with Flashtool?
Boot.img inside the zip is the kernel. Extract and flash that file using fastboot. After flashing the kernel, start your phone and enter recovery. From recovery flash the zip files

Okay then you have done have of the work.
Now backup all your contacts, apps, sms's etc. Then power off your device and boot into fastboot mode. Then take the kernel from the CM9 zip and flash it. After that start your phone and just when the logo gets brighter press the volume down button with which you will boot into the CWM recovery. After that navigate to backup and restore and backup your rom. Then do a wipe data/factory reset ,then wipe chache and after that go to advanced and then wipe the Dalvik Cache. After that go to install zip from sd card and then choose from sd card. then navigate to your rom and flash it. After the flashing is done flash gapps and then reboot.
Note: To navigate in CWM use your volume keys and use the home button to select.
To enter Fastboot: Plug the usb cable side into the phone and while you are plugging it into the computer keep
your volume up key pressed.
To flash a kernel: Put the kernel you extracted from the zip into your fastboot folder. Then open a command
prompt in that particular directory ( in Windows 7 press shift in a blank place and right click).
Then enter this command fastboot flash boot boot.img(Your phone must be in fastboot
mode for this.)
In my signature, there's a guide how to install a custom rom/custom kernels, maybe this could help you!
I would use the cyanogenmod full update guide :good:
You don't need any ftf, you flash a custom rom with clockworkmod (cwm), but this should be explained in the guide

Welcome.
Oh, before I get myselft into this, am I free of installing any drivers? Since I've installed some drivers for rooting purposes, I'm not sure if I need to install these drivers I've downloaded for CM9

No, just the fastboot drivers to flash the kernel. Go to flashtool installation folder > drivers and install all of them for all devices, that should be all :good:
Ran into a problem with ROM Manager :/ It's supposed to offer me recovery mode by rocking the volume up or down while device is rebooting, but none of these work (device boots normally).
Any idea on how to solve this?

I'm not sure about that... all I know is that my phone is rooted and bootloader unlocked.
So how and which custom kernel should I flash then?

It depends. If you wanna flash any CM or AOKP roms you have to flash thier respective kernels. If you want to flash any stock based roms you can flash any ICS or GB kernel you want like Mesa, Panic kernel etc.
As for how to flash a kernel refer to my post on the page before.

Ah, all these processes are confusing me so I apologize for forgetting about that! Reminded now.
So, to enter Clockwork recovery mode, my phone has to be connected to the PC with usb debugging on?

No. For entering the CWMR you have to press the volune down button when the bootup logo gets brighter. For this either you must have CWMR install or else you must have a custom kernel

That didn't work. When the Sony logo gets brighter, a blue LED lights up for that moment.
In cwm, selecting 'Flash ClockworkMod Recovery' opens up a box where my phone model is displayed. After that, it says it's unsupported and I can manually select either 2.x or 3.x+. I've selected the 3.x+ one and in the menu it says 'Current Recovery: ClockworkMod 5.X.X.X
Shall I try with 2.x? I have no clue here.
System setting>about phone
Mind telling us your kernel version? From there we would know your current kernel

Problem getting into Recovery Mode ST15i

Hello!
Please forgive me if i ask the wrong way here.
I would like to migrate from (rooted) ICS 4.0.4 to JB 4.2.2 Cyanogenmod 10.1 on my xperia mini st15i.
I remember me rooting it using gingerbread and flashtool a year ago, but i cant remember how i updated to stock ics. Most probably using the flashtool.
Now i have the problem that i cannot enter recover mode by pressing Volume down when turning on.
The system just starts into some safe mode.
Reading the last 4 hours arround makes me think that there is a cwm missing, but all tries to install cwm on my 4.0.4 phone fail (eg using x-parts).
Do you have a tip or advise how i can migrate from 4.0.4 to 4.2.2?
best regards,
b
First of all, you need an unlocked bootloader to flash any rom like 4.1 or 4.2. So unlock it and then go on
Now you choose the 4.2.2 rom (I guess cm10.1) and open the zip, flash the kernel boot.img from inside the zip using flashtool (or the fastboot.exe) and then install the rom
If I were you I'd first read many guides like for example my bootloader unlocking guide or my guide how to install a custom kernel/rom :good:

Thank you so much for your advice. I managed it to unlock the bootloader, even the automatic software (#2 in your tut) didnt recieve the unlock code. I had to get it per email from sony.
At restart it seems that all data was lost, and i am now ready to go to CM 10.1.
So if i understand you correctly, this is what i have to do now:
1) flash he boot.img from the shu_cm-10.1-20130519-UNOFFICIAL-anzu.zip - This will install CWM
2) when the mobile restarts i am now able to enter the cwm and install the zip which is on the sd-card
3) Enjoy 4.2.2
Is this correct?
best regards,
B

Yes, first you copy the cm10.1.zip and the gapps (google apps) for android 4.2.2 on your sdcard. Then you flash the boot.img for cm10.1 (from inside the zip) on phone and reboot in cwm (pressing volume down randomly or when the notification led lights up)
Now you are in cwm, there you wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache and then install zip from sdcard - choose zip - choose cm10.1, let it install. Afterwards you choose the gapps.zip. When the installation has finished, just reboot and enjoy android 4.2.2 :good:

Too bad - i think i bricked my phone in doing that.
I flashed the boot.img as said and tried to restart and enter cwm.
But the only thing that happens is the LED is pink and the screen switches on but stays black.
What did i wrong?
Lucky it seems still possible to enter fast flash mode and the flashtools recognize the phone
In the meanwhile i was able to flash a stock GB .42 and root it.
I tried to install cwm using x-parts but x-parts freezes during the installation and i get a notification that is has to be force-ended.
So i am struggling at installation of the cwm on my st15i.
I never thought that it is so nasty...
Instead of using flashtool, use some batch tools (like in my sig) to flash the kernel (boot.img) that came with cm rom.
Then try booting it, when fxp logo appears, press vol down.
If it didn't work, try some custom kernels like lupus or mesa and try again.
Regards
N
Which boot.img did you use? The one for mini (smultron)?
Btw let's go on via PM, we can try to solve it in German, maybe that's easier. We can post the solution in the end here
Btw for the next time you have a question, please post it in Q&A section :good:

The just wait until it's online again or try FXP cm10 again for smultron. Then flash the right gapps for 4.1.2
Sent from my SK17i running stock ics (.587)
Finally i made it to 4.2.2 on the xperia st15i using CM10.1 from mike, and i am superhappy.
It really was all about the wrong image, and not finding the correct one, because goo.im was offline.
I love xda-dev :highfive: and its helpful community!
